"America" should answer both questions

Nice data mining thread, kiddo.

Lopez Obrador is super shit tbh. Idk who are you talking about tho.

poland
leftism is dead on arrival here

Yeah im talking about amlo, anaya's party is fucking trash but at least they created the social security system. We are all boned though

Brazil.

Save for a short-lived mild left president in the 60s, whom unsurprisingly got couped, we had our first nominally left government in 2003 up until 2016, when it ended in a palace coup. It was, to sum up, crap. Yet it was one of the best regimes we ever had, because the bar is just that low. So then, the government turned out to be a hair away from center towards the left, as the only they they did to that effect was expand the welfare net. That's about it. Otherwise, they continued the same old neoliberal, dependentist bullshit. Worst of all, they ended up becoming corrupt fucks too, and hogged the goods without inviting the old elite.

Big mistake. The temporarily dislodged elite always nurtured a bilious hatred towards this elected leftist party, because of its past as a genuinely proletarian party started by unions and social movements which did fight the system long ago. That old class hatred, plus not being invited back to the money trough, plus 14 years away from power – a lot for a group which in it for almost 502 years – meant the old elite was baying at the moon. Its media (i.e. almost the entire damn media) tried smearing the first leftist president for ages, but he was bulletproof. Their persecution actually fed into his discourse about them hounding him because he was fighting the old, corrupt elite. The second president wasn't smooth at all, but still had enough prestige by proxy to get by. Then the elite found its silver bullet in the form of a massive anti-corruption operation, the kind that should have happened decades ago already. Nonetheless, the amount of present and former elected officials indicted in at least one investigation is staggering, and some of them are already in jail.

However, the media focused on the leftist party in power, as the former president was caught in the investigation, and the current one was suspicious. Every damn day, in almost every damn news outlet, it was the same old shit. Using that opportunity, they conflated the charges levied against the former and current presidents with those levied against a million other suspects, and used them in order to smear not just them but the entire party (cue that class hatred), as well as a lot of the old baseless invective.

Several months of this ended up working. The current president was impeached on flimsy, technical rules, because the big investigation didn't have anything solid on her, and it would take a long time until a trial anyway. The congressmen who voted for that, many of whom were being investigated, did so while making hypocritical speeches about honesty and the honor of public office. The vice president, from a centrist, arrivist party, turned on her even before the impeachment started. And in his first appearance as president, there he is, surrounded by all the familiar faces of the old elite's political arm. And again, many of whom, including the now-president himself, were under investigation.

Not long afterwards, very damning proof surfaced against the new president, and the media, strangely enough, started bashing him, as well as one of the higher-ups of the old elite and potential presidential candidate. It was obvious that hidden powers decided to throw them to the lions. So now the president is much more compromised than his "leftist" predecessor, and has several impeachment requests against him in congress. Surprising no one, he already evaded too, one because the Supreme Court's casting vote was made by a very close friend of his, and the other because the congressmen that impeached the predecessor because they defend honesty were now voting against impeachment because they defended stability.

So, the new government of the old elites is having some infighting, and might or might not fall. The corruption charges against the leftist party, amplified by the smear campaign, utterly ruined its popularity, and they buttfucked in the following mayoral elections. The first president, however, still has a lot of sway with the lower classes, tho he lost all support from middle class and upwards. Unfortunately for him, the charges against him were very real and he has received a prison sentence already, but there's a million appeals before that happens. The old elites are desperate for him to go to the slammer before the next presidential election, because fucked as his party is, he's still the strongest contender. This is because the popular faces of the other parties are all falling like dominos. The now-president's centrist party has no popular persons, and the socdem party (which is effectively center-right and the new-preferred redoubt of the old elite) that's allied with him has its 3 power players compromised by the investigation, one of whom being the sacrificial lamb I mentioned above.

Which leads us to the current situation. The pseudo-leftist party sort of monopolized the label of the left in the public sphere, and if you add the smear job against its former presidents, the entire damn left had its shit pushed in by association, despite the fact that a good chunk of it openly opposed them. The old elite's propaganda worked perfectly. Between that and fucking Trump, being an openly bigoted reactionary is becoming acceptable, even fashionable in social networks, including with entirely too many celebrities. And since our bourgeoisie eats the shit from Uncle Sam's butthole, I'm already seeing the already-moronic talking points of the American right being made even more moronic by being applied to our society. Fuck, they're whining abou muslims in a country where they don't make up 0.02% of the population. If there's one thing to compliment the porky media on, it's that they unceremoniusly shit on the "right-to-far-right". It's unlikely but possible that the old elite will regret creating this beast, as mouth-foaming reactionaries are talking about presidential candidacies. One of them, easily the most popular among them, is so absurdly retrograde, ignorant and boorish that he makes Trump look like Rosa.

tl;dr: the left is out of the board and I have no idea how or when it will be back in; the old elite, who always played safely around the center, is now so firmly back in power that it can afford to have sectional civil war without fear; and the right is an outlier but might yet fuck everything up for everybody forever.

still tl;dr: death is certain

How do we defeat the Eternal Polack?

Thanks for the proxy board though.

Hungary

There's no left of any kind.

Germany. Polticial situation? Neoliberals in power. CDU, SPD, Greens, FDP and AfD are all neoliberals. Even Die Linke has neoliberals dominating, they recently supported the privatization of roads. Austerity is the enforced economic model. Old people collect bottles to get by and lower income jobs barely earn enough to rent out a one-room apartment. The left? Mainstream left is IdPol torture chamber with unconditional support for Israel, the underground left is GDR grandpas LARPing.

get the russians to gang up with germans again, I guess.

egypt
half of the country is blindly sucking sisi's cock and the other half are islamic cuckservatives who are mad that morsi was overthrown. Oh yeah and there's some trot group that originally led the 2011 revolution but is now nowhere to be seen.

WTF.
I thought Germany was a first world country.

Brazilian here, i feel you, man.
Just turning on the news makes me lose hope for a good future in this country.

Venezuela.

The PSUV is shit, other leftist parties are small as fuck and don't have a clear position to me. Anything that calls itself "socialist" is dead as soon as the ruling party leaves the presidency.

Dutch.
I see the development of the new right as a threat to my existence. Feel the same about you communists and anarchists, but this is not a growing movement as far as I know. And I still prefer the left over the right. On the other hand I think the status-quo, mainstream politics, is destructive to its own existence as well.

So as it is I'm unaffiliated. I haven't found a political ideology or movement that provides solutions to problems of the future. And there are many. I cannot foresee the future, perhaps we will be lucky, but I find it worrying.

I live in one of the richer cities or Germany and every old fucker I see is collecting bottles. The neoliberal so-called Social Democrats completely dismembered the public retirement found and sold out their own people by promoting tax-subsidized corporate insurances, which actually end up stealing money from you in the end unless you become 95 years old or something. In 10 years it is expected that most retiring people will not get enough money to even live.

You are well off in Germany if you a) have a STEM degree or work in IT or b) work for the government. Everybody else has it really hard. Full-time jobbers like hairdressers or the like often share a flat with students and shit.

It really hurts, doesn't it?

Are you bourgeois?

Not in the Marxist sense.
While it is not true that I do not benefit at all from capitalism I think that in general it does not benefit me, nor does it benefit society in the long run. However I do not think that the far left, or anyone for that matter, comes up with reasonable alternatives. Besides I'm not looking forward to more egalitarianism between classes.

Yet, to me there is nothing as vile as the far right. I am repulsed that it seems to have grown so much online, though perhaps that is deceptive. I can understand people's sentiment against Muslims, because of terror attacks, but that's where my understanding stops.

And with civic nationalists I can sympathize on some points, but am suspicious of their true intentions. They talk of preserving culture, but stay silent on tradtitions being co-opted by consumerism. And often they don't care about regional culture.

We do not have much identity politics here, though it is gaining a bit of a foothold. I think some of the goals of it are noble, but it is taken too far and done in ways that backfire.

I have my own personal shortcomings clouding my political views. I am thankful of living in a stable and secure country but feel no connection whatsoever to the people I share my country with. With most of the people I have negative experiences, and I guess some of that is deserved.

I think capitalism and egalitarianism go hand in hand. I am not allowed to set standards on the food I am willing to eat, and have to conform to shitty meals that negatively impact your health. Capitalism has appropriated our culture so well, that Holla Forumstards think fastfood is part of our national culture.

I come from a small rural village. The school has closed many, many, years ago. The pub - not that I went there - has more recently closed. There is a lack of social cohesion. My dad passed away while I was in my teens. These sort of things have all impacted me and how I see the world.

I would have been easy prey if the new online right was as active now as it was years ago if they weren't so openly xenophobic. Besides I am not hostile to, relative at least, economic equality.

I hope this gives some insight, it was not really with the intention of a personal rant of sorts. I think the situation here pales in comparison to those in other countries, and can understand under such conditions marxism provides a solution. For me it doesn't, but feel free to try and convert me.

Sorry.
I mean as active years ago as it was now.

Hungary. Pretty shit.
