Jesus Christ, this country is such a god-damned shit hole. My girlfriend has been dealing with medical issues since last year, and her fucking insurance is a scam or some shit. Nobody takes it, their website list of current providers is bullshit, and the people who do take it are all terrible and live 45 minutes away. And it was the bullshit that was recommended to us within our budget on the exchanges.

I almost want to leave the fucking country on this one issue. I'm wondering if I'd rather deal with the entire set of problems associated with moving to a new country based on the fact that we can't see a fucking doctor here without having to do it out of pocket for hundreds of dollars while being forced to pay for health insurance that doesn't do anything, and not being allowed to change insurers except for in certain windows. Why is this fucking racket allowed to continue, how is there not a mob with pitchforks in the streets?

And these are insurance companies that are supposed to be more legit because of the ACAs requirements than previous insurance companies that would give you plans that explicitly didn't cover anything, or at least so I've heard from people who were adults in the 90s and didn't bother with insurance because it was all either too expensive or a fucking scam.

Now they say they cover you and they actually just obfuscate shit and try to make you become deranged from rage and exhaustion so that you don't even use your fucking insurance while you're forced to pay them. I can see how people probably think nothing of it if they're healthy and not buying insurance, but once you actually have to go to doctors this entire system is a fucking shit show. I know other people who are dealing with chronic health issues as well that have to harass their insurer constantly because they're constantly trying to not pay for shit.

She is in school. She interns full-time at a company when out of school and part-time when in school that doesn't provide health insurance because she isn't considered an employee, even though she has been there for two years.

Who knows, maybe company insurance would be better. I know plenty of adults who work crappy jobs that don't offer insurance though so it isn't really a solution for all of us dealing with the marketplace. I just don't want shitty excuses, I'm tired of this. I just want to pay taxes and see a doctor like people do in other parts of the world.

Well there it is man, insurance is part of the package. Seems like everyone I know with a difficult specialized job has good insurance, like IT positions that need a lot more than a degree.

I'm in the trades, which pays half as much, but the insurance is stellar. I consider it pay since if I take too much time off it vanishes. It's taking in the whole picture when looking at careers.

To put it another way, let's say you get a degree in some specialized engineering field and the job market tanks early in your career from oversaturation. You still have the developed critical thinking skills and discipline from mastering a difficult subject. This can serve elsewhere in life, possibly including related fields.

On the other hand, someone who thinks a hospitality degree will enhance their state of being will probably not finish much better off. Not to say that all non-stem degrees are like this, but people were quick to polarize the issue and get defensive.

Then your healthcare sucks. According to the chart up there, several of the UHC countries have appointment times that rival American doctors (which totally depends on your doctor anyways. I've known some that will see you in a couple of days, some that take a month or more every time), and I can't see doctors anyways because the ones in my network are far away, which was supposed to be the affordable option for me. I'm going to have to pay a significant portion of my income to be able to see doctors that are closer to me, and I have to wait a year for the open enrollment period anyways. So I'm effectively paying a shitload of money for nearly zero coverage, and a year of waiting.

This is late but I've seen study's that show libshit degree holders are more adaptable and have better critical thinking skills while STEM majors can't do shit outside of their degree because they're monkeys trained to only do one specific thing.

Insurance is always a scam. Like car insurance and home owner's insurance, you always pay way more than you get back and then the second you have a claim, if they actually pay it (and they try not to), then they triple your rate. And then they report the claim on a CLUE report (private company) and so if you look for a competitor, all competitors read that report and will have a similar high rate.

Healthcare should be cut down to the price similar to auto repairs. Expensive so people don't waste it, but cheap enough that people still can afford it. None of this $1000 for an ambulance so people are scared of them (insurance doesn't cover them usually) and die instead.
