How does it feel to know that the top 2 tv dramas of all time are /our shows/?

The Wire and The Sopranos are the greatest critique of capitalism in mainstream culture. It should be mandatory for everyone on this board to watch them

I didn't really get into The Wire. Was too melodramatic and I ended up stopping before the last ep of the first season.

And all I know about the Sopranos is that old lady actress dying and being CGed in later.

Nigga what the shit?
Good, Ignore all the essays and academic analysis on both

I thought The Wire was more about the inherent corruptness of any organizational structure.

You missed the whole season about the death of the working class in america?

I guess you are a market socialist then?

You didn't get both show do you?

Sorry man. I thought detective "too smart for his own good" was lame and I didn't like any of the cop characters. I thought really ugly black dude was ok but then he kind of became lame too by the point I stopped watching. Then the black lesbian cop got penetrated and I realized I wasn't into it at all any more.

Well people write essays and analysis on all kinds of crap. I bet there's some grade-A pontificating on Harry Potter.

Well no man, if you weren't the biggest pleb in the world you'd know what the sopranos contribution to the medium and to cinema too were and you'd understand why is so special. The wire is less important than the sopranos but is the best rappresentation of inner city life of mainstream media. Also it wasn't lame they brake every convention in the genere. Also the too smart for is own good cop is numerous time rappresented as an asshole who isn't that smart. You really missed on this one

Sorry for the shitposting flag

Plus you are not supposed to like the cops characters. They are not evenpresent the protagonists of the show.

Eh well I'm not saying it's bad. Just why I didn't like it. Which is because of the hammy tv melodrama vibe. I agree the realistic inner city stuff was a strong point though.

And I'm willing to accept Sopranos is influential and all but on Cinema? I can't really see it.

You're forgetting Breaking Bad, m8.

Literally everyone's problems in that show can be blamed on capitalism, exposing just how dirty and low even the most decent of people will become corrupted under its conditions.

...

The Wire is liberal cuck shit.

you missed the point, clearly. they're nice people who, due to their place in the system, do heinous shit. just like the gangs.

when did those shows suggest this?

This. Someone like Stringer Bell is also obviously smart but ultimately a cog in thr Baltimore drug trade as he was born in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The show is basically a fictionalized Bourdieu seminar and it's great for this reason.

Not Walt Jr. though.

Cerebral palsy can be blamed only on biology.

Watch this and tell me The Wire is "liberal".

'no'

It's implied Skyler smoked while pregnant with him, causing the problem. Smoking is a result of big tobacco's marketing (means) and alienation (motive).

Walter junior had a football accident or some similar shit

Maybe you missed Reddit dude
