Rojava is a genuine, native revolution that the US is trying to manipulate for their own ends. While the conflict in Ukrainia is clearly a Russian proxy war with no higher aims other than to support Russia.

lmao, what an understatement. USA has bases in Rojava and US soldiers are wearing YPG patches. The entire reason YPG got so far is because of US support.
Syria is a proxy war as well, with the YPG being a proxy for America interests. Furthermore, to claim that the spontaneous formation of militias after Nazis burned down hospitals and shit is nothing more than just a Russian response to NATO aggression is incredibly dishonest and biased, they have been forming community councils and nationalized factories and such. But all that doesn't count because Russians are per definition red fascists in the eyes of the ultraleft because of muh LGBTQ+ rights.

It's the other way around actually. The US is only supporting them because they are actually capable of fighting ISIS. They were fighting for 3 years before the US started helping them.

No because in terms of actual ideology (although to be far not in terms of behaviour) the rebels are virtually indistinguishable from the Kiev regime. Both are far right conservative ultranationalists, which is why the rebels parade around Orthodox iconography and wear Russian flags.

The Russian rebels are in a very weird situation which cause a lot of MLs to BSOD. On one hand, they are settler colonialists with a lot of practical similarities to Zionists and the proto-fash Orangemen of Northern Ireland. However, these ethnonationalist Orthodox conservatives are also fighting NATO proxies in Ukraine with their own, probably more obvious fascist current.
