Please don't tell me they use wangblows on a fucking airplane.

The west is going to get raped so hard when the east rises against them. Jesus it's not even going to be close.

becoming a military defense contractor for the US government is basically like hitting the lottery. There are entire dynasties of these families who got insanely rich selling bullshit to the government.

1980's Soviet jets cost pocket-change have working night vision and can fly without overheating.

The West makes military equipment like they make i-phones. Costs a lot, and its made to brake in 3-5 years (so you buy a new one).

You forgot the biggest drawback of all: it's an ugly piece of shit

I don't care how it looks. For that cost, it should work.

I wouldnt be suprised if it was XP, honestly

*Vista

They look like flying logs of poop or overweight chickens. Maybe the idea is to make the enemy laugh himself to death.

When did aero technology become so fucking cucked?Combat aircraft are as disappointing as iPhone releases at this point. Where's the ion drives, and combat Mechs we were fucking promised?

any cuckservative will tell you that it's not real capitalism

I'm still pissed we scrapped the Harriers, those planes are beautiful. And now we're going to have a supercarrier with no planes that can be stationed on it for the next ten years. Truly brilliant governance. Hell Trident is a far better use of our taxes than that shit.

more like an "if" mate

America doesn't do actual R&D anymore. That would eat into profit margins.

Can't let that project die out though or thousands would become unemployed, gotta keep that perpetual wage slavery in check

Real answer to this is probably once the cold war ended politicians realised none of this shit would ever be tested in battle against anything slightly comparable so they just said fuck it and started taking campaign donations to let contractors charge trillions for planes that don't fly.

this

Have you ever considered the possibility that the Jews could be behind this?

Not really?

🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧Jews🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

> under free market

Would be cool if we can hear about everyday inventor from USSR era. Soviet space program and weapons are cool as fuck but you know, inventors among general prols.

Wouldn't the Jews want their puppets the cucked West to be strong enough to beat the alpha nations like Russia anyway?

I wouldn't be surprised it the jet was just made to be exported for profit.

The US government has spent 1.5 trillion on it already

How's that socialist utopia going /faggotpol/? Have you been sharing your wife with the poor underprivileged minorities like a good party member?

I would feel more safe flying a Soviet plane in a time of peace than that horrid prima donna of a craft.
If the landing gear fails it won't be the end of the world for the flyer.
Is there any top tier russian aircraft that can rival a f22 and still be as reliable as a Su 29?

How's getting an actual wife who won't divorce you Holla Forums

t.riggered

Pretty good.

Girls wont sleep with him, and he calls it 'white genocyide'.

Why are you lying about having a girlfriend Holla Forums

Why do you even want a wife?

The Sukhoi PAK T-50 was made to take out the F-22's. (But the F-22 is a flying trash can so that's not saying much)

They can't divorce you if they don't have any friends and don't speak english.

How's America doing

...

Duh. It is not possible to send a radio signal without telling everyone with radios in different locations where you are. Did anyone actually think that such a thing would be possible?

They're just not into you

They calmed it was the best stealth fighter on the market.

Typhoons can spot a f22 outside ifs missile range and win in a dogfight with it. Radar cross section doesn't really matter as much as the quality of the sensor apparatuses on the aircraft.
Would a su 35 beat it?

Broadband for what? Data transmission and reception? No shit. Do people not realize how little data actually gets sent over data links? They are not trying to play some AAA video game up there. It really is just tracking information: altitude, position, friendly/bogie/hostile, call signs, IFF, IDs, and not much else. Actual directions from the Weapons Directors still get sent over the radio.

Or are they talking about SatCom? Why the fuck would that matter? It only matters if the sector is able to receive that data, since they are the ones who distribute relevent satellite data.

The F-35 may indeed be a broken piece of shit, but the stuff that this is criticizing has absolutely no bearing on its capabilities. Yes, it is stupidly expensive. I will say that they did one thing spectacularly wrong with it: they tried to make it do fucking everything. That never works with any weapons system.

That doesn't make radio triangulation not a thing. You can't hide something that is broadcasting a radio signal. It is just not realistic to expect something like that.

Isn't that what AWACS is for tho?

Nobody dogfights anymore. Every battle is decided from over ten kilometers away.

AWACS do that (and with JTIDS can actually guide missiles), but every aircraft has its own radar which both provides supplementary data to the air picture and gives targeting information to active missiles.

Fighter aircraft radar is a simple forward-facing active cone. While it is important (missiles using only AWACS data are going to be very inaccurate), that is not the most significant component of the avionics package. Radio is far more important both for voice and data. That is a flight's lifeline. If the designers somehow managed to fuck that up, then pilots would be better off flying F-16s.

Are you telling me that Ace Combat isn't realistic?

no, when is fine

Crumbling empires don't just fade away. America is going to start WW3 in a decade or two, perhaps much sooner.

I hope I get to move to Korea or Japan as a white dindu taking all the yellow mans jaerbs and women.

Korean women are crazy. It would be best to avoid sticking your dick in that.

MAD and hypersonic missiles make this (literally) dead in the water. The major powers will implode inward and maybe also invade non-nuclear powers.

You don’t understand leftism.

Capitalism wins again.

Not even ancap/alt-right, but isn't state funding/military–industrial complex completely different from market competition. Also, I'm sure the examples are cherry picked given the astronomical amount of technologies the sector has created.

shit thread tbh

Sometimes in life, you gotta put survival aside and just go for the gold.

Not really given that the market is the globe and the competitors are the armed forces of nation states. If one of the competitors decides to cripple itself with shitty practices then it is free to do so.

Capitalism doesn't mean markets, free or otherwise, capitalism means a system of wage labor, as opposed to the previous system where (unenslaved) people owned (most of) the product of their labor and then consumed/traded it themselves.

The whole idea that capitalism means free markets is a giant derailment, meant to keep people from being exposed to the idea that maybe they actually do all the fucking work not the porkies.

Directional transmission. Works less like a cell phone and more like a remote control, where it has to be pointed at you for you to see it.

Of course that would require line of sight, so of course it wouldn't work.

It's made to blow up hospitals and does that job better than anyother before it

This is why countries like China will completely stomp America when they go head to head. It's going to be hilarious watching the amerifats scramble to recruit competent engineers once the shit really hits the fan.

Unwise to underestimate the Burger's military industrial complex

America hasn't won an actual war in decades.

America hasn't fought an actual war in decades.

Because it would lose. Badly.

Lose in what sense? Total defeat? Like occupation by a foreign power kind of defeat?

It's literally impossible for America to lose without taking out the enemy at the same time as a last resort. What's going to stop America from pulling an Israel and going Samson Option?

stomp america with what? china's military is landlocked, their navy and air force are purely supplementary.

Like a microwave beam? The beams that they use for satellite communications are hardly reliable. They only work half the time, and that is with stationary structures. It would be a hell of a thing to try to maintain microwave communication between fighters even with line-of-sight. Or are you just talking about a cone of electromagnetic energy like targeting radar uses? Maybe that would work, at least as long as the other side is directly ahead of the aircraft. Still, I do not know how stealthy something that is emitting that much radiation could be.

You would not even really get a lot out of such a system. The only time that I can imagine that it would be advantageous would be if the fighters were operating beyond the range of ground, sea, and air radar and actually had to spot airborne targets on their own. That would be an extreme circumstance which is outside of conventional air tactics. It is a very bad idea to do that, as it leaves fighters vulnerable to surprises. Ideally what happens is that CRCs, AWACS, or some other reporting agency with a gigantic radar do the spotting, and Weapons Directors tell pilots where targets are and what to do with them. The pilots then follow directions until their own radars light up the targets. Then they intercept them using radar data from both their own aircraft and that of anyone else who can detect the targets. As soon as the fighters activate their targeting radar the targets will know exactly where they are, not that it matters overly much since a swarm of Aim-120s is going to be in the air a couple seconds later.

Should have bought a Rafale
They are expensive but reliable

Have you been sharing your wife with your CEO like a good little classcuck?

This burger looks really good tbh.

To be fair, you can make weapons systems that are very versatile. No one system can do everything, but it's possible to have one that does quite a lot. The F-35 wasn't made to actually be effective though. It's a welfare program for Lockmart.

Exactly, you can be colonised easily.

...

American cold war era engines lasted like three times as long as their soviet counterparts. Like, by the time (in flight hours) an F-16 is supposed to have its third major engine overhaul, a Mig-29 is expected to have had nine major overhauls of each of it's two engines, and is on it's third pair of engines.

Soviet fighters were much cheaper to buy (or were just straight up given away), but more expensive to maintain. To say nothing of their less-than-spectactular combat records. At best they'll trade about 1:1, and that's mostly against other, older soviet jets.

That said, the Mig-29 and SU-27 family are still my all time top-tier for = a e s t h e t i c s =

I always thought they looked a bit like a beluga whale. Specifically the bottom of them, with all the weird lumps.

all lies

Well the HMS Elizabeth uses XP.

So it doesn't really seem like anything is actually disproven here so much as we get to see the F-35 highlight reel LM used to get senators to buy their shitty plane

Well that and radar adds to the situational awareness of the skirmish, so yeah they are both important.
If you are able to dodge its misslies you can easily get into a dogfight with it. Who says dogfight can't happen between planes 10s of kilometers apart?

Tankies BTFO once again.

...

Shouldn't some top pentagon people realize that shit show that this and other weapon programs have become and be worried?

Who cares? The fact is that trying to fight capitalism with war only makes capitalism stronger. The USSR could never even came close to matching the west when it came to warfare.

that sucks
That sucks hard, especially since it fucks over the stealth system in serveral ways and defeats the purpose of a lot of the expensive engineering crap. Alone among these points save the price tag, this strongly indicates the product of a corrupt, decaying, self-serving political/military establishment.
Everything has that because dumbass alphabet soup didn't think far enough ahead to make cures to the electronic plagues they've unleashed. But yeah if it still runs on Wangblows XP that's fucking retarded.
If they can do one without doing the other that's retarded, but I was unaware they had a way to do that. How does that work? Is it supposed to use wireless VPN or something? Or what? Genuinely curious.
It's mobile and in the middle of the fucking ocean half the time and probably at least tries to encrypt its crap, you expect it to be as fast and reliable as some dickhead's smartphone in the heart of a city
that sucks

The rail gun is pretty neat.

it doesn't matter if the f35 is "shit". it can still beat anything Russia or china has.

Then why did they never face a direct invasion?

the gap is closing though and things are likely to get more corrupt. Not to mention that the US pretty much gave up most of its heavy industry top the neolib gods so in things ever got really serious its doubtful they could produce the numbers necessary.

...

gee I wonder who could be behind this post

Nukes, and America was already picking the USSR apart via economic and cultural warfare. The USSR was lucky to survive until 1991.

Closing by who? The chinks still cant produce a domestic engine, and are trying to imitate the US , and the Russians have all but abandoned the PAK-FA, with india canceling all of its orders.

its pretty gud job m8

Gee, thanks, mom.

The F-16 is a single-engine stunt fighter, whereas the Mig-29 is a proper air-superiority fighter like the F-15. The F-16 was built to be simple, so it is difficult to make a direct comparison. It is really more comparable to the Mig-21.

The primary reason that American fighter aircraft have such a successful record is that their weapons were designed to utilize superior tactics. It is not so much about the aircraft themselves. Soviet-designed aircraft could do some amazing stuff.

In the sixties and seventies the Soviets made the mistake of building their tactics around the accurate and agile, but short-ranged, infrared-guided missiles that had been successful during the early years of the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, the Americans were redesigning their longer-ranged radar-guided Aim-7s to be effective against other fighters and not just HVAAs. The result was something like the Americans bringing guns to a knife fight. They always got the first shots off, and data links gave every asset in the air plenty of early warning. The poor pilots of Soviet-designed aircraft had to spend the first part of every engagement trying to dodge swarms of missiles before they could close enough to bring their own missiles to bear. The lucky bastards who managed to survive that first round found themselves out of formation, outnumbered, and facing opponents that were still in perfect formation. By the time that the Soviets corrected their mistake (more or less), economics and revisionism had already ruined the country.
