To be honest I'm starting to think the Democrats are in on giving power to the Republicans. I mean, they wanted to gain votes from "moderate" republicans at the expense of working class democrat voters. And they just keep fucking up. Can you be part of DSA and stay registered as a Dem at the same time? I've fostered some relationships with some of the more legitimately "activist" representatives in my state legislature and I've been offered a spot on a ticket if I can raise the funds for it. I think entryism might be my best bet for getting involved with some of the networking I've already done, but would joining DSA somehow cause conflict in that attempt?

DSA is not a political party, they're an activist organization, so you're good there. The Dems will recruit someone to run against you in a primary, for sure, so you have to play hardball.

If you start hearing rumors about someone primarying you, dig into every last bit of dirt you can find on them and discretely pass it off to journalists and activists so that they can raise hell and get the corporate Dem to drop out.

Fundraising will be hard as fuck. You have to hide your power level talking to the liberal donor class, pick one evil Boogeyman of a corporation and single them out as the reason you're not taking corporate money, and they should be fine.

If you make it to the general election, you're still not in the clear. The Dems will push all kinds of rumors about you with the donor base to try and undermine your run, but you have to stay focused. Build relationships with outside groups (yes, even some liberal ones) and keep them close to you. They'll carry you when the Dems try to fuck you over.

You'll have high staff turnover, higher prices than everyone else for printed materials and software subscriptions, and pretty much zero press coverage. But if you go out there and pound the fuck out of those doors - ESPECIALLY in the poor neighborhoods - you'll be able to pull it off and get elected.

I mean… Uh… That's what I think would happen, because I'm definitely not an entryist politician or anything… Nope… That would be crazy.

I have seen a lot of DSA people talk of slick entryism into the Democrats like what was done with labour: but the issue that the core is not there. The core simply is not there, I think the only solution is what the DSA is doing atm: which is basically copying the Socialist Party of America. Focus on local politics, and build upwards by subverting the democrats, not becoming them.

Obama was the last democrat that was smart enough to sell progressive politics without actually enacting many. I really do think the Dem party underestimated Obamas talent because he was black, and thought "Well if Obama can do it anyone can" and backed Hillary even though every poll was screaming she'd struggle.

Trump has really ripped the nice face off of bourgeois politics. Many people felt and still feel Obama was a good president, and honestly that feeling will probably grow as Trump gets worse and people feel the difference between having to eat a fascist shit sandwich vs a neo liberal one.
