I'm also a tankie and I think there are many positive aspects to Trump being president.

-His anti-neoliberal and anti-regime change statements during the campaign made a lot of ruling class people very nervous. The ruling class is extremely divided right now, with a majority disliking and distrusting Trump.

-From his perspective, the way the US currently conducts imperialism (violent regime change) is both harmful to global stability, AND counter-productive, since it almost never works (see Iraq). If the US would withdraw from the world stage, it would give massive breathing room for Global South revolutionaries.

-Trump simply being president is extremely destabilizing to the entire global capitalist system.

If Killary was president, none of this would be happening. The ruling class would unite unanimously in support of Killary. There would be more regime changes and more overseas interventions. There would be more neoliberalism and pro-bankster policy.

Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems to me that, in the context of the current battle between the Deep State and the Trump administration, the correct Marxist-Leninist position is to support the elected government against a potential fascist (Deep State) coup, which is a real possibility and would be far more brutal than a Trump government.

A similar situation happened when FDR was still president - the ruling class tried to overthrow him and establish fascism, but were unsuccessful.

My opinion is that the class antagonisms in the USA are intractable. The ruling class will never accept Trump's proposals to end neoliberalism and regime change. They would rather launch a coup or civil war than change the status quo. A major internal conflict in the US is inevitable.

The sad part is, I could imagine Communists on the front lines of both sides of this conflict. The SJW liberal "left" would back the coup, while orthodox ML anti-revisionists would be anti-fascist.
