In socialism will console wars continue...

In socialism will console wars continue? Will everyone become a PC gamer or will we have a politburo approved console for the people?

Pen and paper RPGs only.

good

People will have better things to do than play shitty video games.

In Anarcho-Primitivist-Vikingist-Shitinthewoodsist Vargtopia, we will communicate solely by pen and paper RPG.

a thread died for this.

Consoles used to serve a function but consoles are developing to be more like PC's and we see a trend towards things like steam machines.

There won't be a good reason to have competing proprietary gaming systems with their own operating system. It only makes it harder to develop games and only serves to make money.

We will be able to simulate any reality we wish using supercomputers so gaming consoles should not be problem.

they'll play good ones

Consoles will stop existing. Essentially, PC master race will win.

Console Wars will continue whether there's "socialism" or not you idiot. Besides, console gaming is an expensive hobby. PC gaming on the other hand, not an expensive hobby because people either get games for free via "Steam Beg Threads" or downloading them illegally via torrent sites.

PCfags like you have been saying that since 1997 and it still hasn't happened.

Neither has full communism. PCs can't win until capitalism has been abolished and there's no more reason for the mediocre console wars.

Do you feel left out of the console wars because you game on the PC? LOL Console wars are fun, it's great to debate & troll fanboys. Though in complete honesty, I have no loyalty to one brand. I like console gaming because it's fun, it's also fun to collect for. I got a Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox, Xbox 360, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and Nintendo Gamecube. I also own a PSP and an original Game Boy. I got so many games for each system. I also own a PC with a few PC games like Splatterhouse & Grand Theft Auto V. I just happen to game more on consoles than PC. Some of the emulation on PC is crap. For example there's no sound on Batman Forever The Arcade Game for MAME. Yet my PS1 Batman Forever The Arcade Game runs fine on my PS1 & PS3. I play it on the PS1 more because of the Game Shark.

I believe consoles are mostly commodities, whereas PCs are incomparably more useful and necessary to have. For gaming, you are a lot more flexibile doing what a console was designed for, on top of a PC being able to be upgraded whenever necessary.

There wouldn't be exclusives so there'd be no reason to have a console at all.

We'd also all be gaming on a Linux distro and everything will be fully supported because FUCK MICROSOFT and FUCK APPLE.

There would also be pen and paper RPGs because those are superior to any shit that is defecated out.

I imagine everything devolving into such a shitty state people would be trading game consoles for their Value in scarp just for bread.

Consumerists should be killed.

Video games are bourgeois and alienating.
It won't exist in communism.

...

Are you implying the Soviet Union was communism?

What are you going to do, come to my house and stop me from making/playing them? Thats not nice comrade.

Yes. Red Guards will be going door-to-door searching for nerd paraphernalia

...

You won't feel the need to play video games because you'll get laid instead.

...

congratulations, you managed to find an important issue to murder each other over.

...

...

Gentoo is an objectively superior system in every way. The only thing Arch has is a larger (yet more elitist) userbase.

Binary packages, pacman, AUR.

respectively:

Gentoo has binary package repositories? Isn't the whole point to compile for yourself?

In socialism we would no longer produce for exchange so there would no longer be competing kinds of consoles trying to dominate the market. So no there wouldn't be any console wars.

The better question is if there will be such a thing as consoles. If we're to take a scientific, for-use approach to the economy there is literally no reason not to just give every household a PC instead.

They're called portage binhosts. Unfortunately they aren't mentioned in the installation manual but they exist and can he set up during the installation.

A lot of Gentoo users are "compile everything!!1!" retarded puritans, but I mainly only use it for Portage, because I fucking love Portage.

It hasn't happened but it sure has become only more and more obvious that it's inevitable. Kind of like communism.

Console gaming is going the way of TV, in a couple of decades it will be exclusively for old people.

The official repos + AUR have way more packages available than Gentoo official + overlays.
Also a lot of packages on gentoo repos are outdated, especially games.
Also from what I've been seeing recently gentoo userbase is way more elitist and ignorant in general.

Halfchan really needs to go back to their containment site

I'll concede the repository size is an issue, but that's ultimately due to the lack of users.
But elitism? Gentoo users will actually help you if you have an issue, while Arch users will tell you fuck off and RTFM. I don't know why they are the more popular distro honestly.

...

Get a job.

Not really. Console gaming still dominates the gaming industry. Even retro consoles are selling. PC gaming will never truly beat console gaming. It's going to take an upgrade-able console-like PC to kill console gaming. So far they've failed to get that one right.

You obviously never trolled fanboys before. PCfags don't know how to have fun. Go back to reddit.

what is the point of compiling anything except for the kernel?
I use Debian and I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to waste their time compiling every fucking thing

This is true. But console gaming is on the decline (even if it's dominant) whilst PC and mobile gaming are ascendant. Likewise I'm quite sure Netflix hasn't overtaken TV yet but nonetheless the writing is on the wall.

Actually forget console gaming and TV for a second, I'm not entirely sure living rooms will survive the 21st century.

Mobile gaming is more likely to dominate than PC gaming. In fact I can't remember the last time they ever sold a PC at stores. The most I would see are tablets.

Also the only reason why Netflix hasn't taken over TV yet is because they can't stream shows live, nor do they show new episodes of a TV show the next day. Hulu however does show new episodes the next day, but they don't stream either.

Also consoles double as streaming devices. Can't quite do that with a PC. Sure you can hook it up to your TV, but you would at least need 4 PC's in a 3 bedroom house connected to a TV. As far as I know, people only ever use 1 PC in their household. At least I do anyways, which is connected to my room. While there's multiple game consoles in every other room. 1 in the living room, 1 in my roommate's room and 1 in my other roommate's room. Neither one of my roommates are interested in a PC, they have their smart phones for facebook.

I don't doubt that tbqh. That said my original post wasn't exactly true, it's not inevitable that PC gaming will triumph (as long as we're capitalist anyway), it's inevitable that console gaming will be replaced.

But, you can, in fact PC's are probably the most well-adapted steaming device of them all.
Of course it's not as well suited for hooking it up to your TV. But who even has a TV anymore?
Seriously, I don't know anyone under the age of 40 that even owns a TV.

By TV, I meant HDTV. I probably should have been more specific, but it should have been pretty obvious.

Which reminds me, smart TV's can stream too. So having multiple PC's in every room wouldn't be a smart idea financially if you just want entertainment.

I think I'll do both, tbqh.

What did he mean by this?

We'll have a single state-made video game that runs all games avaliabe.
