Some of the socialists saw ww1 as a chance for Italy to gain a national identity and a semse of victory. Most Otalians identified with their refion not their country. A victory in a world war that also gained territories where Italians lived would be a way to build up national identity. A few socialists liked Mussolinis ideas of mass based political violence and expansionism and were influential in helping him form the FIC. The FIC iteslf was not a party with concrete ideals but rather a bunch of socialists who didn't agree with mainstream Italian Socialism. Some were syndicalists, some were more pro class conflict, some were pro constitutional monarchy. But the common beliefs they had were of a socially traditional, anti materialist, class collaborationist society.
