Isn't owning pets bourgious? You eat good actual food, and they eat dry kibbles that are fucking disgusting. If you're feeling generous, you might toss them a half-eaten morsel. But would you prepare them a full plate of food that you were going to eat? That is, perhaps, what they mean by human nature keeping communism from succeeding.

Whether you know it or not, that is where this notion in the common wisdom of today largely comes from, and there is a lot of outdated information out there regarding training your dog with an eye to dominance that stems from this misunderstanding of wolf behaviour. Moreover, dog behaviour has been understood for a while now to be shaped vastly more by socialisation than by breeding and very submissive or "subservient" behaviour in a dog is broadly considered dysfunctional and unhealthy now.

Regardless, if you're describing behaviour where a dog will respond to a cue by performing an action as "subservient" then that is just unnecessary anthropomorphism, but even taken at face value doesn't make sense given that modern research shows that an average family dog will "train" it's humans to take cues and perform actions as much as the reverse is true.

I mean I know this is just a funposting thread and I'm taking it way too seriously, but probably just about everything you think you know about dogs (and cats for that matter) is wrong.

Dunno if I can do that, since cats are not very social animals with very malleable brains like dogs are and don't see us or interact with us the same way. A "union of egoists" might actually be a reasonable way to describe the average relationship between a cat and a human. At least from the cat's point of view. They are much more strongly inclined toward their "nature" in a way that dogs, for instance, aren't. Though that doesn't mean that most people really have a good grip of what that nature implies.

There's a good book by John Bradshaw called Cat Sense which goes into a lot of the modern research and, if you have Netflix (or can pirate it) there's a fun doco called The Lion in Your Living Room which is based on a lot of the same observations (with less detail obviously).

I think a cat is more like a sperg who doesn't really get human emotional and social interaction and views their relationship with you in a more mechanical or transactional way.
