I don't understand why Scottish and Irish nationalism get a free pass when it comes to the left. All nationalism is inherently fascistic and can easily become openly racist. That includes Irish and Scottish nationalism. A communist Ireland or Scotland or a communist united Britain would make no difference in the end, since the leftist objection to the UK comes from an anti-colonial and anti-monarchist point of view, and a communist Britain would be neither colonial nor monarchical. Besides that, you're just buying into the fascist notion that there are such thing as different "nations" like Ireland or Scotland.
