I think we need to be careful with mass immigration, and we should try to get Muslim immigrants into countries more similar to their own culture rather than allow them in the West.

Everyone here wants a secular (ideally religion-free) society and any religion outside personally kept faith is undesirable. We generally want to stop refugees by tackling the causes of their displacement. We want to prevent movement of people/immigration altogether since it serves to raise profits by undercutting wages.

One of the things that surprised me was the state of evolution and how it relates to us. Nah famalam, Shias and Sunnis follow completely different schools of jurisprudence yet use exactly the same Quran as the key text. Most of the different forms allow Theologians to 'update' Hadith and allow for things that the prophet hadn't yet revealed to them at time of writing (such as the internet, or insurance policies or modern Capitalism), yet some don't. I'd say it's open to a fair bit of interpretation, given the 30 or so different schools that are going today (there's a few that no longer exist).

Indeed it is - it's only Saudi Arabia and whatever territories are controlled by militant Wahhabis that practice Sharia in its pure unadulterated form (although Pakistan could be considered a candidate). Virtually every other 'Muslim' country has a blend of Sharia and Civil Law (originating from Roman Law), with the odd few using a Sharia/Common Law hybrid due to their """relationship""" with Britain. This basically means that they function almost like European courts in their manner of working when it comes to capital cases, but stuff like Family and Financial law is wildly different. It also allows for weird things like blood money (for seriously injuring or killing someone), and the fact that things like memorising the Quran or converting to Islam while in jail can reduce your sentence.

Pure speculation, but I'd say it's something that's going to happen in the next 50 years. A surprising number of Muslims in the Gulf, ignore the whole "no alcohol" thing - a sight I will take to my grave is of several drunk young Saudis in the long dress and casual sandals dancing the Macarena at a seedy hotel bar. My sides were in orbit for several hours. On a more serious note, most people only go to the Mosque on Fridays and even then only for the lunchtime prayer, and the number of people who observe all five daily prayers (in any form) is shrinking as well in these countries. This doesn't apply to Saudi since the muttawa force all Muslims out in public to answer the call to prayer.
