It’s a good idea. The government can creat a sate owned energy company, sell the electricity and pay for the wall as well creat a surplus. This can reduce are massive deficit. The solar panels can be protected from vandalism via border guards with are already there. However knowing my government it’ll be privatized and the solar panels will be vandalized.

Most illegal immigration into the US is people overstaying their visas, and even if there is a wall people can go around it by boat. It's more a symbol at this point than anything.

The most popular is actually by private plane with person with actual or forged visa. There is no good restriction set that prevents this. A wall will not prevent planes, or legal passports from going back and forth across the boarder without stopping all border traffic, which would be ridiculously stupid.
People are still stuffed in cars, and you can't just cause massive traffic jams by stopping and inspecting border entry in places like San Diego, because it effects more than border crossing, it effects general traffic. And that traffic makes people late, it makes businesses slower, and makes people furious.
In all honesty there is no way to permanently stop illegal immigration without shooting yourself in the foot.

Not just tunnels, they could just use cars to go through legitimate points of entry. You can't make border crossing a TSA event, that would cause catastrophic traffic back up between and within each respective nation.

I predict the wall is going to be less than a third finished and construction is just going to stop, or if it ever gets larger than a third it will remain incomplete by the time he's out of office; the next administration deciding not to chose it. Because it simply won't stop illegal immigration, it will encourage immigration in the ways that are hardest to combat. The regions were it's implemented will just not see a decrease in it, and further, it will damage the local environment.
Future generations will look at the unfinished wall and laugh tbh.
Solar panels are expensive and it would be almost impossible to maintain covering a whole border instead of one location. It's an idea a child would come up with.

The easiest way to stop immigration is to stop destabilizing regions and creating chaos throughout them. Walls and preventative measures will not stop the root of the problem. It will only create more suffering, which in turn, creates more terrorist sympathies.
