the dude smelts metal and makes water powered hammers with fucking sticks and mud
Yes.
it's much too leftist to be anprim
I always liked how they never wore shoes.
...
This is some cool stuff. Makes me want to go innawoods.
Apparently Hanna-Barbera is pulling an Adult Swim in funnybooks and letting their old properties be reused in unusual ways by comic authors, is that it?
Apparently so. Remember that one time Seth McFarlane proposed rebooting The Flintstones in 2013, but it never took off?
These comics should be the blueprints for that very reboot. It would look kinda interesting in Seth's art design, and his voice talent would be great for most of the roles, but leave his shitty Family Guy writing out of it and just adapt the plotlines of the comics, and you got yourself one helluva Flintstones reboot.
I'd watch the shit out of that, I tell ya whot.
but anprim is inherently leftist.
luddites were literally members of the labor movement.
Wasn't it just a gritty reboot by some dude who just REALLY hated the flintstones?
dude grand dad lmao
So if I like feet I am AnPrim?
wtf I love AnPrim now
...
Interesting is the last word I would use to describe McFarlane's style.
it was hardly gritty and did a better job of satire than 99% of "professional" comedians
That comic has a lot of great moments.
Just in case you guys are interested, this is basically a spiritual sequel to the short-lived and incomplete Prez, albeit inverted: Prez skewers neoliberal society by putting it in the near future, while Flinstones treats it as something sudden and novel.
It also has a character who is just straight-up Zizek in appearance and temperament; his introductory scene is him watching tv with his cute kid and drifting off into a long monologue about the political economy of the Smurfs.
...
Damn Freddy swoletariat
Why didn't they complete Prez?
Non-Capeshit american comics usually have a hard time
lmao
Why is Fred so buff?
Wtf I'm an Anprim now
Everyone is swole here.
Well I guess I'm anti-civ now.
He's John Goodman.
That's the spirit.
This comic looks absurdly good. I'll have to read it.
it's comic of the year user. So of course almost no one read it.
nice. where's the download link fam (and yeah im too lazy to search for myself)
Err, what does that mean? I've never really read comics before.
it means the comic book market is oversaturated with low effort capeshit so everyone ignores the indie stuff and gems like this.
Other than the walking dead and maybe Star Wars the best selling comics in America is almost always batman, spiderman, and then whatever big dumb crossover is happening currently.
fucking brutal
People posted this comic in Holla Forums, no?
Who has the Pebbles lewds?
Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are in middle school in the comic. You sick fuckā¦ Are you an ancap?
what a cruel world
wtf I love DC now
You what, mate? Try not to be such a newfag.
What I'm getting out of this thread is that ironically the Flintstones comic has more in common with pic related than with the actual Flintstones tv show
If you don't wear shoes for your whole life they certainly aren't going to look pretty and pedicured.
Aww shit, I loved to watch it when I was a kid.
...
Woke af.
This page made me lose interest in reading it. Not sure why since I usually enjoy sniffer.
That's clearly a person who did not wash their feet. My toes look dark like that after a week if I havent washed them but it all comes off pretty easily.

You go entire weeks without washing your feet? can I sniff them
Thanks a lot fam
I will charge you $40
This comic is awesome
PURE ALIENATION.
Honestly, this
*tugs shirt angrily*
There was a Vertigo one-shot too, actually.
Her looks scream how-do-you-do-fellow-kids, but I guess the near future thing excuses it. I'm kinda surprised she's just a white girl. These days, you'd think the creators would have to check at least 3 boxes from the minority checklist. I fully expect her to come out as bi or trans or somesuch.
Okay, I'm sold.
It was released in the 70s tho. The market was much bigger.
The way everyone is swole has me expecting this to turn into a gay r34 comic.
That said, I'm sold on this too. I desperately need to see some of my opinions echoed in pop culture, maybe that will chip away a piece of my alienation.
kekking irl
I've never seen surplus value summed up so perfectly.
10/10
Stone tools are too advanced. They should live like monkeys in the trees.
Just read the Flintstones comic, here's a quick review. Overall it's pretty good and worth reading. It's also quite short.
The out of context panels ITT are as deep and broad as it goes critiquing capitalism/neoliberalism. If you think those highlights are good, then you'll probably like the comic overall. The subplots involving the appliance animals are underrepresented ITT imo. The puns are generally decent, although those and other incidental humor doesn't always land for me. Vaguely relating aspects of neoliberalism to anthropology is kind of interesting but at times it bites down on the human nature meme really fucking hard.
The "Leisure Class" issue is particularly bad about this, stating that hunter-gatherer society is built around hunting because the men are in charge and that's what men do, despite (the comic claims) hunting being disadvantageous to the species' survival as opposed to just gathering. The driving point of the issue is that men are the original leisure class, based on the premise that hunting wasn't actually useful and therefor not work. Even though the comic consistently shows the danger and labor involved in hunting and other jobs that the men do. The more direct aesop for the issue is about racism justifying wars and it gets tied up with the other theme with Fred saying men have only two jobs - impregnating women and protecting children - and that beating the war drum is bad for the kids. This is painted as if it's some strange thing that men do because of their nature instead of, you know, the material incentives for rulers to make war.
That gripe aside (and disappointment that the gentrification/ghettoization bit didn't really go anywhere), I didn't have any problems with it. It's a good example of criticizing the system in a way that won't scare off normies, and from an artistic angle it's a great example of what can be done when remakes/reboots/re-imaginings bother to get creative. It's on the nose and ham-fisted at times but it's the fucking Flintstones, so it should be.
You can get it here
Super-heroes comics represent maybe 1% of all Western comics and yet it's 99% of what peoples heard about.
Jesus Christ how horrifying.
Human can't live healthily on gathered vegetables or hunted meat alone, they need both. Vegetables for energy and micronutrients, meat for protein and fat. In fact, some healthier fats are essential for brain functioning, suggesting that our big brains could only evolve if our ancestors costumarily ate meat. Altho fish are better for healthy fats, but fishing was invented way too recently to affect our evolution, only some 40k years ago.
The sidecut actually comes about through a joke, like Russel knew there would be an initial negative reaction to it. The protagonist gets in the public eye for the first time through a YouTube video of her hair getting caught in a deep fried, hence half her hair being missing.
