Bunkermag or new leftypol inspired journal

Hi, Editor friend here. So, i previously made a thread saying that bunkermag was done, but it is back up now.

However, I've also been having discussions about possibly creating a new, re-branded journal called Spectre Rouge with a more focused message and theme, with a focus of anti-identitarian socialism, internet culture, news and more emphasis on aesthetic. It would be a quarterly journal, and I'm currently reaching out to people who might be interested in contributing. Pics Related are the aesthetic I'd be going for.

The Alt-right, lolberts and the like all have polished journals publishing, we need to have an answer. radixjournal.com/
jacobitemag.com/

If you all would prefer me to continue work on Bunkermag, I will oblige, though we'd be in need of more contributions.

Some article ideas for either option:
(note, all article titles are changeable)

Who Dreams of Electric Galatea?
- An article about how the left must deal with the politics of loneliness.

The Youtube Intellectual
- Takedown of a rightwing pseudo-intellectual on youtube

The Secret History of the Middle East
- How the destruction of the left in the ME by the West created the current terrorist threat

On the Destruction of Good Taste
- How capitalism degrades art and artists, and envisioning an post-capitalist art scene
-Or the same thing but with video games, other niche

Being an 'ally' versus having principles
- Take down of liberal feminism, focusing on the concept and drama around "allies"

Democracy Strikes Back
- On the British elections, democracy, and how to be a principled reformist

The Never Ending Story
- How to break the cycle of Social Democracy and Austerity (hint: it's socialism)

More theory heavy articles are welcomed as well, I'm still mulling over that article on social democracy, the ussr and the asiatic mode of production.

Editor san you did good work on bunkermag please keep working on it

Thank you user, I appreciate it. Of course, if there's a new mag, I'd keep up what I'm already doing, if not get more involved.

I'm curious how this new quarterly journal would look and how it would work. It could be quite nice but I feel it would put more of a weight on you and/or the community to really hit a deadline (which could be good or bad). Anyways you've done good work and I trust you. Thank you comrade.

Thank you comrade. Right now I'm gauging interest. If enough people are interested I'll buy the domain and hosting and starting getting some art and articles in order.

A zine will be cool.
Call it RedFax, last month I was reading about teletext, in britain the main service was called CeeFax and in the USA there was a failed service called KeyFax. It just sounds cool and ominous. Or the Daily War Drum after a newspaper in a Mickey Mouse comic.
I will like to write for the journal (again) I just need someone to take care of my grammar.

Don't worry I can take care of grammar for the most part.

I like the idea of having a new journal with a more focused vision, I also dig the aesthetic and think the new name is better and a lot more serious sounding.

Good, I'll farm some ideas and keep contact

I forgot to ask, are you planning on a new website or how are you going to publish this?

if it's easier you can contact me on twitter
twitter.com/RealEnverHoxha

I was planning on getting a new site.

Why not Spectacle Rouge?

why not make a yearly journal like collapse? make paper copies too so you can sell those and pay your contributors a bit of money

Because spooky scary communist skeletons fam. Also, it's the name of a rather interesting french early silent movie
youtube.com/watch?v=3h3O5pKuEdM

Maybe Bi-annual would be a good compromise. Could still make paper copies and be relevant.

Also, NewsAnon2.0, if you're here, that offer for syndication is still up

I actually like this.

I really like the way this is going having a yearly Publication with real effort and professionalism just makes more sense given how difficult it is to regularly cheek out content especially through an image board like this

I don't have tweeter, maybe I'll pop on the IRC

Judging by your other comments spectre rouge will be published periodically instead of having clockwork updates like other news sites do.
Static publishing isn't good for websites.

Sounds great. I'm currently working on a script before seeing if I can scrape enough money together to shoot a short film, but I'd be willing to contribute to something on art.

Get rid of this ASAP.

Some possible topics:
- Accelerationism, communization, and their relations to the concept of abstraction (Benjamin Noys touched upon this when he was discussing "Malign Velocities")
- The immediate applications of a cybernetic planning calculator and its relation to the ability of workers to take over large firms and use their ERPs to immediately carry out in-kind planning and communization
- Free software and how its communistic principles can both be revived through new applications and how we can achieve something similar for open source hardware through 3D printing and online collaboration spaces
I love Jacobin's aesthetic, even if they're now lukewarm socdems who sometimes try to grab the attention of liberals with idpol. It looks sleek and futuristic while still using red. You don't see that everyday. You can't have it be all red and black. Make the background white like Jacobin?

nofunallowed.png

YOU EXISTANCE PROVES DEBORD CORRECT!

Write the article you want to see written. I'm not a leftcom or accelerationist myself.

And I'm still mulling over the aesthetic, I was thinking a parchment color with charcoal black and scarlet.

what will happen to the current articles on bunkermag?

1) Email me; I'm a "real" writer, i.e. people have paid me to do shit in the past, as well as edit.
2) Setup a paypal donation box and pay every contributor. This does two things, it asserts the principle that intellectual labor must be compensated, and it makes you more discerning in which pieces you choose to publish. It's thus important practically (raising the level of writing), and politically (labour is entitled to all it creates). As editor you will make nothing, because that is the task of the editor, to toil thanklessly and without recognition to produce something useful and beautiful.

you might want to think of using this site (if they let you in no idea what their system is)

issuu.com/artisanspiritmag

i read a craft distilling magazine there its nice

It will say up, and there is an archive if it goes down.

This was something that was considered for bunkermag originally. With a periodical style, it might be easier to manage that approach.

I wouldn't take any money, I'm doing fine for myself. And just so you know, I have gotten some money from writing, though not too much. about 1500 in prize money total.

Anyways, I'll contact you as soon as the operation is underway, in the meantime you can join me on twitter or in the irc

I have to question the wisdom of a high-brow journal when the low-brow rag can't even coax contributions.

He barely did his job with bunkermag so that goes without saying.

I'd prefer if we had our own website, it'd be more accessible that way.

The issue is not accessibility but promotion, you need an strategy to promote the site.
BTW I may be able to provide illustrations.

Sure, I was just planning posting it to my fb page facebook.com/DCMNSP/ (has about 30,000 likes and a max reach of 850,000) and articles to relevant subreddits, besides leftypol of course.

Illustrations would be greatly welcome. Can you throw us a sample by any chance?

No, I can't post now because I wanted to develop a new style for this, I want this project separated from my other art career. But anywho I wanted something like out of an old zine mixed with soviet avantgarde. so like a propaganda poster made with pencil pens and xeroxed.

that sounds excellent. like I mentioned earlier, you can contact me on my twitter @RealEnverHoxha we can talk more there if you prefer.

And as i said before i don't have tweeter!

Set up a hushmail or something

Ah, my bad. One moment.

I get your thinking, put I know for myself I never wanted to contribute to BunkerMag because it didn't fit my style of writing. A more sophisticated publication could be interesting.

Here:
[email protected]/* */

...

If we are going to do it again this time please don't do the shitty blog format and instead have PDF issues like a normal zine

Bump

i say we call ourselves "the masses" in memory of john reed

What do you mean? Every article should be credited to "The Masses"?

Also, I'm not sure if I like the name Spectre Rouge; Bunkermag had character! Spectre Rouge is kind of a bourgie name. Like why is it in French?

It's not. those are both english words, if from a french root.

If it's prefered, we can go with the american spelling of Specter Rouge

Should keep the bunkermag name imo

This guy gets it. Bunkermag is classy and demonstrates our commitment to Enver Hoxha's immortal wisdom.

Red Specter is very corny and putting it in French is kind of pretentious. It gives off the "nothing personnel kid" vibe.

I was actually referring to Rouge as in red powder or cream, the english noun.

I kinda like Spectre Rouge. It's a reference to CM and french theory which conveys effectively the proposed goals of the journal. As I understand it the proposed goals are socialist/communist writing but with an eye always to the practical and material.

Thank you, and that's exactly what we're going for.

Also, I'm not gonna say I'm amazing, but I write for a living as a freelance journalist. So I'd be down to contribute if you need folks.

That would be fantastic! We are definitely in need of more writers at this stage.

That's a misrepresentation of Jacobin. They could only be categorized as social democrats through their support of Left Social Democratic candidates (Bernie, Corbyn, Melanchon) as a means to get to communism.

Sounds pretty good to me. I hope this kicks off, but it sounds like it'll be a lot of work.

I'll be setting up a patreon and paypal donation button. The site will cost about 3.80 a month, everything past that will be going to contributors.

Actually, strike that, plus the domain it's 4.30 per month.

Don't bother man, we need to get an audience first and then jump into patreon, you can't make money without a fandom first

Why are you naming it after women's make up?

Got the idea from Dark Souls

or perhaps just "Anonymous" in keeping with our chan culture.

how about calling it The Red Spectre?

The french makes it a bit too overdone.

Stark white backgrounds are cancer that should never be used. Have gray backgrounds with black text, and some fancy communist borders I guess.

Anyway this is a good idea OP, I'd like to see a journal.

I have like 5-6 texts I should translate to English and publish on your site.

Hiya Editor, I'm the original writer of the Slavoj Zizek Crazy Taxi article (though someone submitted it in my stead; kept it anonymous, so no big deal.)
I do some writing for money on the side, and a short piece I wrote for a newer food policy blog was simultaneously praised and turned down because it didn't fit the direction they planning on.
I'd be happy to send it your way if you're interested, though it's slightly outside the categories you've got here.

It focuses on the politics of chain pizza CEOs and the bizarre reactionary views they hold, profiling John Schnatter, Herman Cain, and Tom Monaghan, then providing commentary on the disproportionate influence and power they hold on labor and even social policy.
It's about 1400 words. Would you be interested?

that would be lovely, where are they from?

That would be perfect!

Glad you like it. I've sent it to your email. I don't have a Twitter account at the moment, but I'm probably taking the plunge soon.

Just replied.

Please change to Red Specter. A French name is too pretentious.

But user, we are pretentious.

Sorry, already purchased the domain
