I assume you're asking about contemporaries?
Cockshott is easily one of the most talked about contemporary marxian economist around here, although that might just be that cybernetics planning dude spamming him afaik one of the few contemporary marxian economists who still does work on planned economy, rather than just analysis of capitalism.
That indian-american dude who did a book on crisis and capitalism is also always in the book lists, but I'm pretty sure he's still mostly a neo-classical.
RDW isn't really a theory dude, more of a popularizer.
Michael Roberts
you know he was anti-capitalist and marx built upon his work right?
I agree, Adam Smith was pretty greats.
...
Steve Keen is a pretty based Australian Post-Keynesian.
Not a socialist, but BTFOs neoclassicals (and by extention the "muh basic economix" neolib-lolberg crowd.) and recognizes the utility of M > C > M' in explaining the function of a capitalist economy.
He's got a site at debtdeflation.com
Matias Vernengo has a pretty interesting blog at:
nakedkeynesianism.blogspot.co.uk
Again not socialist, but still pretty nice to dig around in.
Both also on Twitter:

...
but that's a perfectly valid question.
Thomas J. Hagerty was pretty cool tbh.
Michael Hudson has some pretty scathing critiques of modern neoclassical garbage.
Low-energy shitpost. SAD!
Keyensians are smart lads, even tho they cling to a dying system

Anwar Shaikh
...
Anwar Shaikh is my favourite Political-Economist
Pope Francis
ik he's not a preacher, still a clergy member though
ayyy that's my image
I see you touched it up
Andrew Kliman
Varoufakis.
Made some new changes.
Andrew Kliman is pretty hardcore.
Liberation theology is pretty interesting, with Guiterrez et al. Christianity has its roots as the religion of the poor. I also rate Francis of Assisi.
Not really.
The question is not even asking about Left economists - and all the answers clearly demonstrate that this is the congregating point for Right-wing apologists.
is Friot known to anglos?
Sadly, no, Friot is known only in France where he isn't even popular. No one in leftypol knows him either.
This,100%
Anwar Shaikh, and I'm pretty sure hes not neoclassical.
Some other good ones are Andrew Kliman,
Michael Roberts

Yeah Michael Roberts is awesome. For my sins I like Steve Keen too. And Warren Mosler
keen and mosler are alright, but Shaikhs work incorporates alot of MMT theory without Keens anti-marxism
...
Is it normal to want to be dominated by Mariana Mazzucato?
Utsa Patnaik
If it's not not normal then I don't wanna be normal
I'm friends with him on facebook
