The ruling classes seem really excited about automation, AI, and all that shit. It's like they are looking forward to future in which capitalism no longer needs humans and nothing stands in the way of ever growing efficiency. Worst thing about it, it all seems like such a waste, we could achieve so much more, if technology was at the service of humanity rather than vice versa, we could make worlds of being far more richer and complex than anything beyond our wildest imagination, but the way capitalists would have it, we are going to end our lives as lab rat consumers hooked up to VR and IV soylent rations. Being goes beyond just senseless accumulation and rationalised instrumental progress. If only we could find away to unleash humanity's inner potential

I was gonna say that automation costing us all our jobs would spark the leftist revolution to end all revolutions, but then again the bourgeois ain't stupid and would prolly just little by little replace is with robots and create the illusion that everything's fine so the proletariat don't hang them from street lamps en masse.

If you listen to silicon valley type liberals, its obvious they don't care about humans very much. It's all about innovation and gee whiz tech worship, sure, they might do some lip service to social liberalism, but it's clear the ideal world is a world of shiny machines with no humans in it

Taxing robots and UBI will solve all problems. Stay put little worker, and wait for your allowance.

Modern silicon valley types worship technology for itself, not for the improvement of humanity. They dont love humanity, they love machines and efficiency. As a programmer, I love efficiency as much as the next guy, but this shit is ridiculous.

I blame autism.

checked satan

this world makes me really depressed sometimes

Well the trick is to never not be depressed so you don't know any better and long for it.

Hack their systems.

It pisses me off how even some self proclaimed 'leftists' idolise Elon Musk when he's a military contractor and buds with proto fascist weirdo Thiel

Here's a great BBC documentary on Russian Mystic and futurist Nikolai Fyodorov, he had a different, more positive, idea of progress from the Californian nihilist shits

We should collectivize Tesla and SpaceX

what

When automation causes massive joblessness we must let people know there is an alternative to unemployment and it’s socialism. And if automation doesn’t create socialism it’ll creat ingsoc.

He also funded the campaigns of creationist & globwarm denying republicans, his space tourism shit bringing millionaires to space pollutes immensely and without good reason, he has no original ideas and takes the cred of the team behind him, his >we mars nao gives people a satisfying fantasy to believe in.

It's as if after the death of Steve Jobs the american spectacle promoted its new pope in a hurry, basically replicating the former.

NASA is tecnaly part of the military.

ok but not really

I guess i'm a a depressed semi autist too, but there has been nothing more precious for me than connection with other people, love, art, emotion, even though I might have missed on much of it due to alienation. If there's anything worth fighting for in this universe, this is it. It might sound corny, but what else can we do?

Bullshit. If this were true I'd see it used as ammo all the time against his reddit fans.

he has also stated his admiration for Margaret Thatcher

He hasn't directly but he's contributed millions to conservative PACs that fund climate change denying, evangelical Republicans.

the normie 'I Fucking Love Science' is lowkey pseudo religious anti human bullshit

*'I fucking Love Science' Mentality

Yeah it just sounds like he spreads his money everywhere and otherwise is paying constant climate change lip service.

So? Isn't she just popular with liberals in general? Lots of people who hate republicans here love Reagan for example.

Did you see the last Herzog documentary where he was interviewed? It really made him come off as soulless.

7 BILLION AND COUNTING IS AN ECOLOGICAL DISASTER THAT THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS WHEN ARE YOU LEFTCUCKS GOING TO REALIZE THEY ARE GOING TO RETREAT TO UNDERGROUND BUNKERS IN SWITZERLAND AND ISRAEL AND KILL US ALL

But this is acknowledged, lad.

*neoliberals.
Yes.
AKA the norm in modern capitalist ideology.

Good news is they mostly have no idea about economics and they ARE selling us the rope.

And then repopulate the earth by inbreeding?

Stop thinking rich people are smarter. They are just as stupid as you, they just happen to be sociopaths and/or inherit money.

YOU BRAINDEAD MONGOLOID YOU ONLY NEED A POPULATION OF 10,000 ADULTS FOR VIABLE SEXUAL BREEDING

yo this is how Dr.Strangelove ends. This has always been my view of how things will end.

Ok. And who will be doing the work?

OH! You mean they'll be doing a Vault-Tec on us! Hmmm… Hierarchy, classes.. wait.. Why wouldn't nazis want this? That's your dream society! I mean… if you get to live…

BUT!!!

Add to that class struggle and you have a mineshaft revolution and then you have Metro 2033…

Anyway, sorry, the rich don't even think about 10 years later. They don't even think about tomorrow.

THE KIKES WILL USHER IN NUCLEAR APOCALYPSE WHEN THEY BUILD THE THIRD TEMPLE

BENJAMIN NETANYAHU IS THE MISSIACH

yeah, thats what gets me about this whole technoutopian ideology, it feels so fucking soulless and bleak.

WHO WILL BUY THE SHIT?

haha, no. All native americans descended from ~80 people.

The very moment human labour is no longer necessary to producing and thinkering about goods/tech the need to sell or buy becomes irrelevant.
It was never about buying and selling in the first place, but about maintaining power.
Think about a society in which the things that produce you food/your gadgets/whatever else do not need the same things as you and replicate themselves without asking for more or different things supplied to them.
This is literally capitalist hell, the masses get purged, they ascend to the heavens, probably quite literally.

Soulless and cucked

Yes really. Every single space launch back in the day was a not so stealth test for launching nukes
Still is

Not to mention stealing wages from his employees: inverse.com/article/31478-spacex-settles-underpaid-workers-lawsuit-for-4-million

And making them work 72 hours a week in unsafe conditions. Reportedly, employees who passed out were simply left on the floor. But that's ok, according to Musk, because

Yeah. It's pretty much socialism or barbarism at this point.

Maybe in some places but not in a fair bit of the uk. Maybe it's just because the average liberal is more socialist here. At concert I went to a couple months ago had a chant "Maggies in the mud" which was pretty great. Also Dingdong the Witch is dead got to number 2 in the charts after she died.

How is that documentary?

Science fiction often depicts mega corporations spanning multiple planets if not systems, but I severely doubt it will ever get that far.

Automation will lead to mass joblessness and there only so much pointless busywork you can conjure up. People will get pissed at this, and that's when the revolutionary rhetoric will start rolling.
