HURRRR IT'S A DAY GOTTA MAKE EVERY THREAD ABOUT THE DAY!!!

I don't know what kind of jobs all the other protestors have that can let them take days off like this and still make their rent. I'm working because I don't want to be homeless.

Just ran into another famrade. Get in here chianons.

They have a pepe at this rally

...

Had a great convo with blacknat here.

because i'm not an opportunist and i need my sleep

Nice try, retarded sideway pics samefag.

Unfortunately, don't live near a major city and got shit to do for finals

How are leftcoms even leftists?

some of us actually work and don't get many days off.

I'm not a shortsited layabout so I asked for the day off a month in advance.

not of all of us have jobs that grant us those sorts of perks.

*sighted

You don't have a sick day do you live in a fascist nation?

it's called the precariat. look up the concept.

It's called America, user.

i'm lucky enough to get may day off in this country as is.

Is it the bank holiday? :^)

the whole world isn't the UK user.
it's a national holiday here but a lot of companis have, in recent years, not let their employees off on it. Especially supermarket chains.

This is why i'm happy trump won

Filthy monkeys who don't want to die in their own shithole and runaway to USA, yet they hate and reject USA, every single one of them deserves nothing

fuck off self hating retard

Americans are guaranteed sick days in most industries, I don't work in one of those industries but I'm a hard worker and competent so I know my employer won't fire me for taking a sick day.

I work two less than minimum wage jobs and I'm still able to coordinate a single day off to congregate with comrades.

honestly, may day should be the main theme on may day on a leftist forum. It's not like we can't shittpost about stirner every other day of the year.

I was only taking a stab in the dark because we get it off, but obviously as a bank holiday.

They may be guaranteed but that doesn't stop your job from firing you or fucking your hours because you dared to get sick.

What if I think Stirner posters and people who spam pointless threads are both faggots?

This is your brain on nationalism.

Fug forgot shitposting flag

The worst thing I saw was this shithead and teamsters with "teamsters support police" banner.

Your boss isn't going to fire you for taking a sick day unless you have the most bottom of the barrel job and are a worthless faggot.

I've worked so many under the counter jobs where people were fired for nothing and I could still take a sick day because I can make it to work on time when I'm healthy.

Well that's good for you but some people aren't as lucky.
Also fuck off with this bullshit. No need to deride your fellow workers.

you've obviously never lived in southern europe

...

then as the americans say, you are shit out of luck friendo.

If your political ideology is just an excuse to never leave your computer chair you are just as worthless as Holla Forums. The vast majority of the world is in as precarious position or more than you and yet millions were able to make it out to May Day celebrations.

We did. The EU austerity and market liberlization programs made it impossible.
You sound like an ignorant american.

It didn't work once so give up? Don't celebrate the only holiday for us just keep maintaining and reproducing neoliberal ideology that nothing changes.

Those conditions will never come back as long as the EU exists. get that in your thick skull.
You have no idea how hard the EU fucked southern europe after 2008. No wonder though, not many people that don't live here do.

Leftcoms everyone.

My political ideology has nothing to do with why I couldn't go to May Day. I get it dude. You attended your first May Day and now you think you're leading the charge on the Bastille but as a communist you should be more sympathetic to the issues workers have. You obviously have some growing to do as evidence by your "worthless workers" comment.

yes i was idealistic like you once

Cause it's become the gay pride of the left.
AKA "we march, we go home, we did nothing but feel good".

Because the one in my area is explicitly about immigrants and idpol.

there are useless workers, that's why I'm a communist. They shouldn't be working, I and many others can pick up the slack. Stop pretending that you're gods gift to leftism because you masturbate over your armchair.

This is somewhat true. I really don't give a fuck about big "events" anymore. What matters is what happens every day there isn't a parade.

It's a celebration moron.

There are workers in useless jobs but that doesn't mean the worker is useless.

And that's all it is. There is no meaningful organization going on. It's a social event.

Useless to the communist project.

Because Australia is too class cucked

So leftists should actively avoid social events? We shouldn't gather with other leftists and celebrate in person our gains, voice our problems, and discuss our solutions?

>>>/r9k/

Dude… what? Explain, because you sound like a moron.

There is nothing wrong with a little relief from work, even if it is relief from activism. Besides, this "social event" creates awareness and allows people to connect and potentially organize. Any time stolen from the capitalist is a win, anyway.

If you believe bullshit end of history "eu makes it impossible" you are a defeatist and useless to the communist project. You are cowardly shifting the labor of revolution onto others.

I don't know how it makes things better, but I felt like absolute shit the entire time.

Theyre great for a visible sign of solidarity and to meet fellow travelers. What I'm saying is that without real organization that's all they are. I'm not saying we shouldn't do it but we have to do more.

I'm sorry, I don't think I understand you.

I agree.

Yeah i saw that shit too

I agree 100%. Events like these get people more acclimated to collective action. We must use them to help introduce young and new cadre.

Brought my gf who is pretty neet-y and it got her pumped for leftist action.

...

Yes. I'm relating the reality in the terrain for you.
You would understand this if you were actually working class and not a larping college kid.

If I want a "celebration" I go to party.

AND WHAT ARE WE CELEBRATING???

The loss of all the worker's rights people died for?
You think the people that died in Chicago did it for you to have a party?

Thank you. I'm sorry for not understanding at first.

im a normal worker. I'm just not classcucked.

MAY DAY IS EVERYDAY NIQQA

Hello fellow Chicago user

well then do something after marching, but large events like this is how you gain support and connect with new people. why is Holla Forums so disappointingly drab?

Us you moron. Every other day we celebrate capital at its temples.

Okay. Since you nignogs are too lazy to look shit up on google, or don't know any other language other than English, I will try to sum up what happened for you numbskulls.

Picture this.
We're in the late 90s and early 2000s. Southern European economies are in relative prosperity, thanks to the degree of protectionism they enjoy, especially in Portugal and Spain. This allows these countries to actually sustain industry. When a crisis related to debt happens we can adjust and control for it through monetary policy.
These countries also have a national table of wages for certain professions, in particular the trades, which are enforced by law. This guarantees dignified income for workers which would otherwise be forced into a rat race to the bottom.
Enter the Euro.
With the Euro, these southern countries can't adjust monetary policy anymore, policy related to the currency are relegated to the ECB, which are more interested in the core economies of France and Germany than those of Portugal, Spain or infamously, Greece.
However it's still okay, the state in those countries are still able to maintain a stake in national companies, the so called "golden share". This last one in particular is very important for Portuguese banking. And as long as debt payments are maintained there shouldn't be any problem.
Right?
Unfortunately it turns out that 'golden shares', under EU regulations, are illegal. While a non-issue in Germany or France, they're very much existant in Portugal, Spain, Greece and to a lesser extent, Italy. The so called "PIGS". You've probably heard this expression before, if you're not in high school that is.
Anyhoo, the Eu decides to arbitrarily enforce these rules in the mid 2000s and liberalize southern european economies. Countries are forced to privatize national companies (a lot of which were bought by German porkies btw.).
This national wage table for certain professions I mentioned before? That has to go too. Standardized wages are the enemy of neoliberalism of course! This one hits Spain and Portugal relatively hard.
It's okay though. We're still able to meet debt payments…right?
lolnope
Enter the 2008 recession and sovereign debt crisis.
During this time European neoliberalism kicks it into full gear. Whatever liberalization reforms haven't been implemented in the 'PIGS' before will be now. Harshly. And with austerity to boot! Minimum wage stagnates. State career progression is also frozen. State employees get laid off and a strict policy of no more public hiring is implemented. State benefits and subsidies get scrutinized, if not outright extinguished. Education and health gets defunded massively. Unemployment rises astronomically and has barely gone down since. Did I mention these reforms also make it easier for employers to fire people and make collective hiring harder? All because these countries can't control their currency any longer. Turns out having control of your currency is kind of a big deal.
So where does this leave southern Europe? With stagnating wages, a large portion of the population unemployed or even unemployable.

Okay. Let's form a union! Oh wait, our boss just fired us all. Turns out there are plenty of unemployed people desperate for a job. And that's not counting the tons of Eastern European migrants who are willing to stomach much more than we are. And that's not if they simply don't outsource the damn jobs to Eastern Europe where minimum wage is much lower.

Been there done that. Turns out you can't nationalize anything of importance while being in the EU.

Okay. Oh wait, we can't implement protectionism to keep them viable. Turns out Brussels kinda doesn't like that. Oh well, we can still make our own industries viable rig…oh look the Germans have outcompeted our embrionary stage industrial sector.
Well, we still have our own national companies, it's fine right? Wait, no. Turns out they got bought out by German porkies. Or French porkies. Or if you're in Portugal, Chinese porkies.

They did that in Greece. They even got a leftist party elected! Great progress! Surely things will get better now right?
Wait. Why are they bending over for the technocrats? More austerity? Oh you've got to be shitting me!
Turns out that when you can't control your own currency and your own debt payments you get the shaft. And the plutocrats who do have control over these issues couldn't give a rats ass about your shitty ass country, which is a net negative in their Excel spreadsheet.

Not even trying to argue at this point eh?

There you go. That's the simplest explanation I can make for you anglo simpletons.
For other examples of this sort of shit, but on a much smaller scale, read up on the history of the British auto, electronics and computing industries.

Mark Blyth is that you?

I don't know who that is.

He's a political scientist and a pretty rad dude.

We have corporate blacksites where immigrants are used as slave labor. We have more slaves in prison than you have leftists.

In the city these pictures are from our police chief ran a black site to torture dissidents and ethnic minorities.

People are getting fucked everywhere in the world and we have to actually fight back.

And going to a May Day march isn't even fighting back. It's just fun and gets you pumped. It gets you accustomed to collective action and you aren't so afraid of joining your comrades on the line.

I knew you were american.
If May Day marches could remotely have a chance of stopping anything you just said they would be illegal.

today is the greatest holiday.

upheld by the blood of the martyrs.

fuck christmas

Ruby Gloom celebrated mayday

Do you have any knowledge of history? The ability to publicly gather was a right that had to be won because it does ultimately threaten capitalism. And they are trying to make it illegal again m.dailykos.com/story/2017/2/23/1636892/-Arizona-Republicans-have-a-plan-to-make-protest-illegal

Portland smashies smashing right now

Just got back from the local May Day protest, the first I've ever gone to! It was a pretty small showing (small town), but it was good to build solidarity and meet comrades!

fucking smashies

Speak for yourself faggot. Socialist groups were recruiting AND organizing at our event.
