What is the modern leftist aesthetic, and why is it casual work wear in a mixture of earth and neutral tones?

What is the modern leftist aesthetic, and why is it casual work wear in a mixture of earth and neutral tones?

There's no such thing. Wear what you think looks nice and compliments you.

My modern leftist aesthetic is whatever I can find at Goodwill/Savers.

Linen coats.

I just wear adidas track suits. Pretty comfy

what i find in common in leftists around me is: red t-shirts and in some cases long hair. nothing more than that. oh, and women have awful haircuts.

...

...

sadly the vast majority of /leftypol looks and wear the same clothes a liberal would.

in fact, /leftypol is full of self-hating liberals who don't know they're liberals

You may not like it, but this is what peak leftist fashion looks like.

/thread

If youre interested in fashion thats great but dont pretend its political action

A white helmet, a shirt over a ballistic armor, dark jeans, leather boots, of course.

You may not like it, but this is what peak leftist fashion looks like.

when the YPG wins and just can´t stop winning and they need more official non-combat uniforms they should get some dope uniform.

The Left is normcore.

Why the fuck do I get pictures of Jerry Seinfeld when I Google normcore?

We should bring back Canadian tuxedos.

lifestylism crap

I would prefer not to.

I'm actually dissapointed they didn't use the opportunity to make a recursive design

There really is no such thing. People just dress in certain clothes regardless of ideology usually.

Me too, user.

workwear?

I have that shirt

the NAZBOL look

I usually wear tshirts or shirts with jeans or pants and vans. Looks good on me and works well.

I want it.

Your choices are either bearded wiseman (Behold, Kropotkin)

or Moustached firebrand

Lenin, Nechayev, etc

Basically if you don't have facial hair you are fucking Liberal.

If you have time to shave that's time you didn't spend on the revolution

confirmed

Nazbols are clean shaven and the least revolutionary, Lenin has only partial facial hair, all Anarchists have full beards. Beard size is directly correlated to Praxis and theory Value.

It's the ninja costume with the sunglasses.

...

Marx and Engels absolutely beardfuck Proudhon and Bakunin

this is true, it's why kropotkin is the only decent anarchist theorist and bakunin and proudhon are shit

Because Marx and Engles were legit, shame about their descendents

just wear all black fam

...

...

kek

...

*cringe*

i'm pretty partial to the 90s cyberpunk aesthetic and a mix of just whatever i can find at a thrift store. some decent shades and some old ripped up clothes go quite a long way.

however, i don't go out of my way to dress this style. i find it inspiring and borrow some of that, but most of the time i wear whateer the hell doesn't smell like absolute garbage. i don't have fashion sense tbh

Needs a sonichu medallion tbh

Zizek looks like he's about to start a love quest.

I wear flannels with colourful t-shirts or light button-up shirts in the summer
in the winter I wear a big red parka jacket, I guess that is sort of commie …or santa claus
my pants are cheap khakis and chinos, mostly. I like red and purple and khaki, but I buy cheap stuff and beggars can't always be choosers.
my shoes are either cheap winter boots or some cheap sneakers, I usually try to find converse all stars since I've used them for the past x years

I'm advocating for "cheap" being the left aesthetic

Dress like a normal person as to blend in with other people, thus making your ideas appear to be those of a normal person

...

His body… you may not like it, but that's what peak male performance unironically looks like.

Holy shit, Marx goes on endlessly about linen coats in Capital and it's really amusing

What ever you want to wear

Well leftism isn't a fashion or an accessory, but this does seem like a very "casual yet serious," approachable, mature way to present oneself. Edgy counterculture fashions on "leftists" always make me cringe. If the point is to declare the common salvation of all workers, "I'm different from you and in my own little world" is immensely counterproductive.
But really any reasonable way of dressing should be fine, short of opening yourself up to some "but you're wearing nikes" quip you can't confidently rebut or wearing thousand dollar suits that scream "out of touch."

...

Jeans, black work boots, milsurp jacket.

to be honest if you want a good MTM suit you're gonna have to pay a thousand dollars

It's not even a leftist thing, I just really enjoy the aesthetic. ;-;

that's pretty gay imo

more like black on black on black with a ski mask, that is my crook look

Needs more tracksuit

jorts are a more ethical purchase in the modern world.
prove me wrong.

First thing that came to my mind as well

BLEU DE TRAVAIL

You could probably get away with a nehru jacket

Totally wear this shirt all the time. Great gift. 11/10

A grunt style shirt and cargo pants

Lol Yung Karl

This is actually a really good subject. There is certainly a problem with radicals looking a bit to 'radical' these days. This goes double for my fellow anarchists. Honestly, most of us look like circus freaks.
The problem with this is, that people judge you by appearance, they just do.
Nothing you say is going to matter if the person you're talking to has already dismissed you as a clown or outsider.
So basically you have to dress like a person that people will trust with the fate of society, but at the same time not as intimidating and impersonal as a politician's or stock brokers bushiness suit. Smart, but at the same time warm and safe.
Here are some pictures of what I envision, but I would love to see some other suggestions.

A guy wearing two jackets and morpheus shades is what you consider to not be a circus freak?

You're right about the importance but Jesus user, step back into the Matrix with that shit.

Castro confirmed inspiration for Gangsta Gibbs

it's not just that i assume that either, people have actually come up and just started talking about it, or said in a lull "so you're into metal, right?"

would otherwise never have occurred to me. very strange.

Che Quevara t-shirt, flower patternet shorts, flip-flops and a sombrero. This is my unironical summerwear for 2017. If you see me on the street, feel free to come ask me about working class revolution.

Lol I thought it actually was cwc

I see your point, the matrix guy is a bit to much,
but please, post some better suggestions. Off-course, this is an intentional board, so not everything is going to work the same everywhere.

I wear a mixture of soviet and russian militaria, or jeans and heavy metal shirts with combat boots or trekking shoes.

I'm OP. My alternative started this thread.

track suits are prole af…
for peak leftstyleism go with Fred Perry trackjacket (yeah its 100 bucks lmao)
looks stylish af tho

Lately I've been making some DIY clothing, appropriating cheap shit into personal expressions with paint and sharpies and dyes and what have you. I find that it helps me communicate a lot of deeply intimate things about myself with other people that I otherwise find very difficult, even impossible, to do. I'd recommend trying it to anyone here, you don't have to be good at art for it to look good/represent yourself, and just the act of making art is therapeutic and fun, especially with friends. It also carries an implicit anti-commodity aesthetic just by nature of being one-of-a-kind crafts, so there's also that.

peak liberalism

Well it sure is terrorizing to see someone with such poor taste.

What if I don't smoke?

this is my smashy/punch nazis look

I generally go with tan trousers with a black shirt, maybe a cap depending on the weather.

lol wut?

How so?

The last sentence was meant to be tongue in cheek, if that's what you're referring to.

You gotta create a style that looks as if you could hold a reading group and/or participate in some violence.

fashion is a bourgeois decadence

is that fucking Terrell Owens in the background with the bag strap around his mid-section?

it sounds like personality fetishism and all that shit. if you into that ok tho

I just see it as an exercise in individuation, mainly. I think developing and expressing individuality is an extremely important aspect of socialism, not in an intention whorey LOOK AT ME GUYS I'M DIFFERENT kind of way, but in a process of becoming a more rounded person who is more deeply aware of who they are and more capable of helping/partaking in their community. At this particular moment, modifying clothing for myself happens to help do that for me, and I think others may benefit from it too, if not just because it's a fun activity in itself.

I usually just wear a flannel shirt, t shirt and jeans

if i'm doing work, shorts

I like it, it gives the impression of a strong and serious man, the kind of person people can look up to and respect. Only problem is that I think it can be a little intimidating for some, especially young women and feminine young boys.
It's important to get young people when they first start forming political opinions, and since many young people don't work and are sheltered from the hard realities of the world, they will either stay apolitical or chose political affiliation based on where the cutest boys/girls are.
That's why cuties should be targeted for recruitment, as they are fundamental to any youth organizations success.

perhaps, but the most important part of socialism is making other people socialist so that we can build socialism together. I think that is best achieved with a fit body, a fit mind and clothes that make people take you seriously.
