Move away from the coastlines.
Unironically build a bunker.

There's no reversing it unless global capitalism comes crashing down yesterday.

communism would lead to more industrial development

A communist society, having abandoned profit motive, would be more conscientious of environmental impact.

Turn the air con up.

Nothing. Climate change is bourgeois liberal propaganda.

We are already doomed, the time to do stuff about climate change was 10 years ago. We are on an irreversible path to global warming, the glaciers are already melting and heading to the sea, faster than we thought before actually.

What we need right now is prepare for the inevitable, not ignoring it or trying to stop it. We need to move cities like New York inland, or build giant sea-walls. We need to improve our agriculture to prevent the droughts and famines which are going to happen.

You think you made a point but all you did was out yourself as an illiterate

Nothing. It's not going to kill us all, if you believe that you're a fucking idiot. Humans are rats, humans are cockroaches, we survive through sheer numbers and resilience, we're overgrown vermin.

I'm unironically panicked about climate change. The only true solution is a global communist revolution, with the new society placing a high emphasis on environmental sciences.

Barring that, what can we do? I don't want to bet everything on a world revolution.

I know desertification can be slowed and even reversed by recreating migration patterns of wildlife with domesticated grazing animals, ending logging, and planting trees where forests have already been cut down. Could we realistically implement these policies within the next ten years or so, and how could we do it?

Any other ideas?

I have a small bee garden, but that's about it. I don't know how much good it does, particularly because the dry heat kills so much of it off in the summer.

Additionally, as a Midwesterner, I'm especially alarmed about a second dust bowl, which I hear is inevitable without serious action to combat climate change. It's scary already because I live here, but also because we are such a major producer of food staples (corn, wheat, soy, milk, beef, etc.). Anyone else know this feel? Anyone know what we can do about it as lowly proles?

hi Holla Forums

its a hoax

You're arguing against someone in your own head. No one here said humanity will be extinct, and this is hardly enough reason to not do something about climate change.

Are we being raided?

There's no logical reason to be against climate change for any reason other than self-preservation.

What should we do? Drive more. Open burn refuse. Increase your carbon footprint. The point of no return was passed long ago. Now the only way out is through. Lets immanentize the eschaton.

make it about pollution, and then make it about cost savings by switching to cleaner energy– results in solving many many issues. the fact that it was never done this way makes me understand the other view of this issue, that it is a hoax. market manipulation and lobbying via epa restrictions is so easy even a leftist could do it.

Nuclear winter

Watch less movies and read more

geoengineering. only way to reverse the damage we have already done

Nada, I believe. We probably won't survive. With the current state of the left and unstoppable contamination, I honestly believe the best thing to do would be to move to a country far from the equator, preferably high places, and get means to survive, like stockpiled food and guns.

I honestly find it hard to be anything but nihilistic at this point. People are too retarded and nobody seems to care anymore.

Nothing. Climate change is the true movement which will abolish the current state of things. It is the only real revolutionary force of this world.

The Eschaton is cosmic revolution, mang. Polluters need not apply.

And yet the catch-22 is nihlism is the fuel of man's extinction. Be optimistic for the horrors the porkies and fash will face.

Let it destroy capitalism (America.)

Kind of a given tbh

overthrow capitalism, kill the boomers, go nuclear

No, he didn't. There is no profit under socialism or its variant, communism.

I've thought and thought about it. Wealth inequality and general centralization of capital are at such a point that nothing can be done without the consent of a bourgeoisie themselves constantly teetering on the edge of losing all their wealth.

Capitalism will inevitably be destroyed within the next few decades - whether humanity is taken down with it or not is the question.

By what?

Itself, user.

How?

Capitalism 101. Happens every fucking time.

We've likely reached the point of no return. Just chill out like at the end of Dr. Strangelove.

Stop using this fucking word in every fucking post you fucking idiot teenagers holy shit

This is based off of a premise that the worker can be taken advantage of by the business, has no definition for how the worker is being taken advantage of, and assumes that the business doesn't pay the worker, and completely ignores commodities.

The first video ignores the concept of commodities, and their evaluation, and assumes that all businesses will continue to maximize efficiency and continue to destroy their profit margins.

Corporatism might threaten Capitalism, but both provide way too comfy of a lifestyle to ever provoke real resistance. I mean look at the #Resistance to Trump, it's a pathetic joke. People are too docile, and their quality of life is fantastic, why would they want this new system?

Wait for the inevitable decline of the entire world through water shortages, mass migration and political turmoil. Then in the ruins of the old world we begin the communist conquest by killing off the remaining shills and porkies and terraforming Earth into a socialist utopia

The climate has always changed, nothing we do can affect it.

For example sea levels. Do you think Venice or the netherlands were built 10 miles out to sea? Sea levels have always changed, and with good economic planning we have always changed with it.

Worst case scenario, the state can provide orbital habitats for millions, if the rest are willing to be heroes of the revolution.

Will Belarus have coastline finally?

Keep watching. Increased efficiency allows you to earn a superprofit at the expense of your competitors, but they soon catch up. Either you do it, or someone else will first. The bourgeoisie, like the proletariat, have no choice but to do the bidding of capital.

They're one and the same. Under capitalism, everything is for sale, including governments.

Because the current system cannot sustain itself in light of automation and worsening conditions for the vast majority of people.

This is complete bullshit on the face of it. If you don't think this is the case, then please cite what problems you have with the scientific literature. We've known for more than 100 years that CO2 can affect climate, and we know how it works. Put up or shut up.

...

Control the climate to whatever suits us best. I'm sceptical of anthropogenic global warming and even the trends associated with warming as a whole in some ways. There's at least one person whom I know who's even firing at ScepticalScience.

...

Itself. Can you imagine the huge shitfest when mass migration starts because of rising sea levels? Somewhere out there, there's a JPG showing just the people moving from China (700 million displaced) and Bangladesh (160 million displaced). Let me tell exactly what's going to happen in that scenario: ethnocentric dictators everywhere take power, crops fail as soil degradation continues, and everyone nukes each other because of spooks exacerbated by near-universal material misery and the only people left (if even them) will be a few bunkered-up porkies. Bleak, isn't it?

Look into the scientific literature. Global warming and its climactic effects are a scientific fact. CO2 being a greenhouse gas is also a scientific fact. Being uneducated does not make you a skeptic.

About that: that person whom I know of is an autist on DeviantShart of all places who comments on climate change.

deviantart.com/newest/?section=&global=1&q=kajm climate

Yeah, that guy is retarded. One of the first articles is a fucking evangelical christian that is not even a climatologist. I'm going to leave this channel here. I find it's good for basic info on climate change.

What are some good refutations to his arguments and all that he's found?

What arguments? He's mostly refuting things that are not peer-reviewed scientific journals. His insistence that a drought ending in California (and I haven't looked into that, so he might be wrong there too) somehow disproves global climate change, is ridiculous. As for Greenland, that is also undoubtedly melting. His sources are plain wrong. Watch the playlist I left for you. It's easy to digest if you don't want to go digging through journals by yourself.

Google Bookchin !

No, fuck off. Bookchin is retarded.

Noted, thanks.

On a more serious note, worker's cooperatives will eliminate useless profit and useless productions, and we'll need some kind of degrowth to stop destroying the earth.

I hate Sorkin but this one is pretty much on point, I'm friends with Environmental and Climate scientists and they honestly are like they dude in the video, "We're fucked, things could have been done, but nobody gave a fuck, humanity will be lucky to survive past 2100.

Basically the only thing that can be done to mitigate Climate Change is a massive restructuring of society not seen since the industrial revolution. Abandonment of suburbia, high density living, dumping of coal and petrol overnight, cities completely flattened and rebuilt around electric public transport. Widespread renewables.

Do you think that is going to happen?
No, it's not. We're fucked. We've literally instigated several dozen million years of climate change in 100 years.

Accelerate to punish mankind for their sins.

Terraform mars

Calm down Schopenhauer.

The Communist equivalent of Degrowth. Anything less will lead to the death of billions over the next 100 years. Hell it might even be too late for that.

He's not wrong though

Kill all the Boomers.

We need lunar solar power.

Nothing we (non-lumpenproles) can do at this point but take action to ensure our individual survival. Don't have too many kids, move somewhere that won't be too affected and bunker down.

Honestly though I'm more concerned about bio-technology than climate change, which will probably takes a few hundred years before it reaches potential extinction levels. In just a few decades we'll have technology where someone with enough know-how and grit could design and spread their own fucking virus. Lots of viruses are super simple, just a few proteins for the capsid and a dozen or so genes. Living in a world where every high school chemistry teacher could spread a plague if they got a little crazy will not be fun.

Climate change is reversible, I think, since supposedly you can remove the excess CO2 from the atmosphere. Ocean acidification though, well, I guess get a hankering for Jellyfish.

the co2 to ethanol tech is still in labs, it's at least a decade from real world use.

Ocean acidification is caused by excess CO2. Remove it from the atmosphere and you'll remove it from the ocean as well.

True, but I was referring to when most sealife being extinct, and that is irreversible.

Well now, it's interesting to note that Symbiodymium is less diverse than you might think. There's a small set of species that form symbioses with a large diversity of corals. And some are more tolerant than others to acidification.

Can't comment on the future of mollusc shell deposit though.

I would at least assume it would mean porky might run out of lobster. I guess we could make the angle 'want to save the lobsters? Switch to alternative energy and remove excess CO2 from the atmosphere."

...

I agree, but I naively hope that the collective realisation that we will be fucked if we carry on as is and that human ingenuity of the sort below might just save us all.

Hydrogen fuel-cell tech is pretty much good to go when it comes to replacing the combustion engine in cars/trucks/busses - it's just a question of manufacturing Hydrogen cheaply without relying on hydrocarbon refining (which is only possible with an abundance of electricity, but more on that below). The fact that it works along similar lines to present day vehicles means that we wouldn't need to waste a shitload of time and money radically altering infrastructure to accommodate it. It's much further away in aircraft engines though, partly due to the difficulty of safely transporting large quantities of Hydrogen by air without an insanely heavy fuel tank.

We also have Thorium-based nuclear reactors (I think there's a few for research but none generating electricty for use) which have the added bonus of a waste cycle in the hundreds, rather than hundreds of thousands of years. I think it'd be a brilliant stopgap solution until we've cracked nuclear fusion.

As for how to produce hydrogen, the answer is simple - desalinate sea water (which isn't exactly going to be in short supply) and then subject it to electrolysis.

Maybe, we might just scrape through.

I suppose we got work to do.

It's over, user. This planet is fucked, we're fucked. We can turn things around, but only if we do it right now, which we won't. There won't be a revolution now, nor within the next few decades. Maybe there won't be a revolution at all, probably just a quasi-fascist coup.

We also simply don't have the technology to survive on other planets permanently, and we won't have it before this planet is fucked.

I know it's defeatist, but it really is over. Just enjoy your life, be a hedonistic fuck, have fun, there's nothing to be done anymore.
