Literally just a single attack away from a nuclear arms fight

...

Trump was his own Spanish-American or Falkland Islands conflict. A "splendid little war" that can be easily won to boost his popularity. Hopefully North Korea turns out to be way tougher than he thinks, a victory would be a major boost in the poles, but a defeat or even a long drawn out quagmire would destroy him politically.

I'm all for that, but not at the risk of a nuclear bomb fight or even a bunch of innocent people dying because trump wanted to show off his military might

All Ted wants to be is El chapo. Who can blame him

News not mentioned: China launches first indigenous carrier:

this wouldn't have happened under mao tbh

Stop Bashing Obama Over Paid Wall Street Speeches
bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-04-26/stop-bashing-obama-over-paid-wall-street-speeches

What's it called when abusers lie about past events? Gas lighting?

I was just reading something a bit ago that the talk of Trump's tax cuts are already hurting the affordable housing market. I guess some housing projects rely on selling tax credits for funding, and now that Trump is talking about slashing taxes outright the credits are effectively worthless.

North Korea is a guaranteed quagmire. Even if we win it easily, we'll go broke trying to rebuild it.

Yup. Gaslighting is when abusive people try to make their victims feel as if the abuse didn't happen—that they misunderstood, exaggerated the severity of the situation, mis-remembered the event, or are just flat-out crazy. They often lie and portray a different, false scenario.

Polite sage.

The more worrying thing is the new tensions we will have with China when we create the largest refugee crisis yet on their border.

Considering North Korea has been staring down the barrel of American invasion for the past seventy years I find it hard to believe they don't have some kind of plan in place to, probably not win, but make victory so expensive they'll regret ever invading.

?? It's up there. It's the 5th story.

have we ever successfully """"rebuilt"""" something after going into a country and fucking it up? we usually tend to leave it worse than when we found it.

i can expect liberal dipshits to sperg out about this

Seoul would be turn into a smoking crater and would cause major economic turmoil. Winning doesn't mean shit when an attack would mean the deaths of millions of people.

Germany, Japan, South Korea

They've also said "hours"

The Coalition is claiming there was no warning at all…

aaaaaand I'm buying her book.

my mistake

It's a consequence of Trump admins make up of neocons and military. They don't think in terms of regional and global economic/social effects, but rather, Americans won't die and the Norks will probably roll over giving them a "short victorious" war to make up for the paper tiger that the US military has shown itself to be since 2000.

It's also likely they'll use this as an event to try and distract from the deteriorating domestic front, especially with the increasing probability that there'll be major economic decline this year or next

Trump seeks to privatize and de-regulate National Monuments and Parks

President Donald Trump has directed the Interior Department to review a slew of national monuments, arguing their designations as such over the last two decades was an “abusive” federal land grab. Critics contend the move will destroy sensitive lands. “Today I’m signing an executive order to end another egregious abuse of federal power and to give that power back to the states and to the people, where it belongs,” Trump said in a signing ceremony at the Department of Interior headquarters. “Today, we are putting the states back in charge. It’s a big thing.”

The order calls on Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to consider whether monument designations at up to 40 sites should be “rescinded, resized or modified in order to better benefit our public lands.” The 45-day review covers all monument designations over 100,000 acres dating back 21 years.
Utah’s lawmakers, including the governor and the congressional delegation, had lobbied Trump to overturn President Barack Obama’s controversial creation of Bear Ears National Monument, a 1.3 million-acre site in the Beehive State.

North Alaskan oil boom and subsequent oil market crash here we come.

I assume that also means states have to foot the bill.

Holy fuck my sides

It probably won't get through since he tied it to overall tax reform

Wouldn't that crash the economy?

Reagan tried to pull similar shit and then he had to raise taxes through the roof to stop an economic implosion. Kek. Alzheimer's strikes again.

Full Accelerationism now

If they can't drill or strip mine federal lands, ALEC-owned state governments will allow them to!

there's even a special tax rate for small business
and it's higher than that. It's a blind giveaway to megacorps

Literally nothing.

this feels like the calm before the storm so when they go apeshit the second Kim sneezes, they can claim they tried to be diplomatic.

Idk, calling a classified briefing with the entirety of the senate and increasing the military presence surrounding NK just seems like bad news to be.

What is /he/ thinking?

It's just more of the same sabre-rattlimg that we have heard every single year since 1953. Shit or get off the pot already.

Do you understand the significance of the Trump presidency?

they could say whatever they wanted because they could count on China to protect them, and China has nuclear weapons that can actually hit the US. If China tires of their shit, then NK is finished.

what are talking about user it's gonna be a HUGE tax cut. The biggest, nobody does tax cuts like him. It will be a big huge tax cut that will save a lot of money, and big money saving means better job and economy, did I mention it's gonna be a huge tax cut? except it's only gonna be for buisenesses, no refunds
