So, 3rd Worlders are somehow more "authentic socialists" than 1st Worlders simply because they've never had or have barely gone through a stage of capitalism? Not only is that completely illogical but it's also profoundly un-materialist and relies on a complete mystification of 3rd Worlders (the noble savage).
On the contrary, we are "more authentic socialists" *because* we've had a 200-year struggle AGAINST capitalism.
Realize too that most of these 3rd World countries have only been capitalist for the past 50-70 years after decolonization. Socialist revolution isn't just about development but also about consciousness and the will of the people, and it's blatantly obvious that 3rd Worlders don't identify as proles but keep with their religious, ethnic, and tribal identities first and foremost. There's a good reason why nearly all the violence and militarism going on in the 3rd World is NOT anti-capitalist but ethnic and religious strife (Sunni vs. Shia, Muslim vs. Christian, Hindu vs. Sikh, etc.).
So in other words 3rd Worldism is completely bunk.
There's no doubt in my mind he'll focus his next response 90% on this one case of "personal attack" without responding to the actual thesis of the article.
