Socialism and food availability

A common meme is that 20th century "socialist" projects led to starvation… any truth to that?

What effect did nationalization and collectivization have on food availability at large?

Soviet and Chinese famines were the fault of gigantic wars coupled with some central incompetence, especially in the case of the latter. Make note of the scarcity of famines in other ML states, too.

It is all bourgeois propaganda.

whoa this is fucking crazy

Theres a major difference between famines occuring under capitalism or communism and famines occuring because of capitalism or communism.

In the 1800-1900 the was only so much measures to prevent or combat pleagues, draughts and other natural disasters. We can hardly impact nature even today. However enforcing measures that directly and indirectly cause a famine is something different and thats where the "memes" come from.

What's the difference?

Centralization is primarily what leads to famine, under both communist and colonial regimes, I believe.

No, "read a book" is not a response to a request for clarification.

Like, say, literally blockading aid shipments because they'd interfere with "muh free market?"

Get fucked you dumb asshole

Whether PRC or USSR the projects of socialists there stopped famines for the first time.

What

if you look at the whole period under mao the gain in life expectancy is the greatest for any population of all time. china went from the back of the middle income countries to close to the high income ones. its explained pretty well by a normie economist in a TED talk youtube.com/watch?v=hVimVzgtD6w

Sort of. But it was a number of things.
When one central state IS the government AND IS the economy, they have total power of basically everything in everyones life. People self-managing makes the economy happen. Forcing an economy sort of makes it explode. Or implode. Whatever. So people die that way.
Second, if the people you rule don't like being ruled over, since you own the economy, you can just starve them! Shooting them takes manpower, time, metal to make the bullets to shoot them with, so starving them is a better offensive means of controlling people.

Even if we look at the part which covers famines after 1917, it still definetily BTFOs the retarded claim that socialism = starvation and capitalism = food.

Explain this please

There's that village in China that credited a secretly help capitalism saved them from starvation.
