Socialism in One Country?

really?

just like the tony blair years

he has a nice voice

I honestly do not recall much in the way of anti-semitism in any of his works from both his pre-fascism and Mussolini emulation period.
It is really only after Hitler became most prominent fascist on the continent that both him and Mussolini started with that sort of rubbish.

While his memory is obviously tainted by later actions/ideological positions.
I would point out that when he was attempting to emulate Mussolini, he was pretty fucking based.
Something made all the more attractive by the lack of racialism in Mussolini style/Orthodox Fascism.

I think we should encourage discussion on such complex figures.
Mosley, Napoleon, Mussolini etc are all great figures that held both admirable and detestable positions at various points in their lives.
There is much to gain from exploring, debating and admiring the achievements and legacies of such figures.

Lumping in Napoleon with those two idiots seems insulting tbh.

Yes, I mean mean fiscally conservative just means keep the deficit small/having a surplus. Philip Snowden (MacDonald's Chanc of the Excheq) was of the old-school Guild/Rochdale cooperative style socialism that called for a more minimalist state that ensured standards but didn't act in terms of economic investment. He felt free trade was important for keeping prices low and didn't want to increase taxes during the depression: so was stuck. Mosley called for massive spending that Philip did not want to do, he got uppity and left.

Also, Mosley had a massive hatred for trade unions (not sure why, he just did), and as such that makes his move towards fascism more plausible, as anti-unionism was one of Mussolini's main things.

At the end of the day, Mosley was a modernist totalitarian, and had he kept himself separate from hitler he would have gotten far further than he did, although the same pos-WWI militia structure that existed in much of Europe did not exist in the UK: and that was by design.

His voice is reminiscent of Churchill's: I mean they were both of aristocratic ilk and went from the left to the right.

Opportunism.

Mosley was scum but I have to admit he was one of the best speakers of the 20th century easily. His oratory skills were remarkable, perhaps even better than Hitler.

Mussolini was also a former communist

except Churchill is extremely overrated, You can hardly make out a word betwen his grunting

I remember reading this article about a red diaper baby who started out as a communist because of his parents, but than got owned hard too many time by capitalism that he had a break down and became far right.
It sort of like how nerds are the worst bullies because they have been victims of it and know how to really make people hurt.

One of the founders of buzzfeed actually used to write Marxist theory

critical-theory.com/buzzfeed-founder-responds-to-his-marxist-roots-lol/

Here’s a story of encouragement for budding cultural critics: if you sell out, you can make millions of dollars by re-purposing your academic work for capitalist consumption. At least, that’s what BuzzFeed founder Jonah Peretti has done.

Back in April, 2013, we discovered that Peretti published an article in college that critiqued cultural capitalism and the MTV generation by citing the work of Gilles Deleuze, Fredric Jameson and queer theory.

“Identity formation is inextricably linked to the urge to consume,” Peretti wrote, “and therefore the acceleration of capitalism necessitates an increase in the rate at which individuals assume and shed identities. The internet is one of many late capitalist phenomena that allow for more flexible, rapid, and profitable mechanisms of identity formation.”

The piece, entitled “Capitalism and Schizophrenia,” later notes that the “rapid fire succession of signifiers” erodes a sense of temporal continuity, before going on to argue that advertisement “must provoke an ego formation that makes the product integral to the viewer’s identity.”

While Peretti was writing then, in the 1990s, about MTV, it might as well have been about BuzzFeed. The viral site which employs GIFs, listicles and quizzes to rope in readers boasted 130 million unique readers last November.

Churchill was an alcoholic who used to shit himself.

We tend to think of the truth movement as something modern, but an amazing piece of graffiti discovered only days ago, has shocked historians and is expected by memorabilia collectors to fetch a high price at auction.

Although don’t expect the sale to be too widely publicised, if only because the graffiti defies so many modern stereotypes about World War II.

The Bishops palace at Ely cathedral had some floorboards taken up during recent renovations, which were originally laid during 1941-42. This revealed graffiti dating back to WWII and the foreman thankfully realising the importance of the find, took it straight to management for safe keeping.

The find was authenticated by David and Roger Collier and Jeffrey Solomons, as being of the right age and style and the right black pencil for the period, and the fact that the boards had not been up since the 1940s only underlined its authenticity.

The graffiti shows a wartime soldier turning his back on Churchill while muttering:

“hmmm you warmonger Churchill” and underneath the words: ” Drink and Smoke while we die”, while over Churchill’s head are the words: ” You stinkweed churchill you C**t “

“Stinkweed” was the wartime nickname given by Lord Halifax, for Churchill while he was drunk was reputed to shit his pants. His secretary John Colville, who even had a special quick release jump suit made like a babies pair of rompers, is on record as saying: “strange to think a babies jumpsuit may have helped us win the war, by helping our leader not sh*t himself”

A well-drawn Spitfire with RAF markings on the wings is also depicted, and is shown machine-gunning a mother with two small children standing near a German flag. This could be seen as an illustration of events in cities like Dresden or Hamburg, where Allied aircraft were reputedly ordered to target civilians amid the ruins.

This colossal war crime was conveniently overlooked at the Nuremberg trials.

Napoleon a shit.

Didn't they have to keep the gold standard? Or am I thinking of another period.

Well, by "have to keep" I mean "think they had to keep", I'm sure there's a quote from someone from the period to the extent of "Why didn't you just take the £ off the gold standard?" "They [civil service] never told us we could do that."
