I used to work for a clothing retail chain in the US. Immigrants, especially those that spoke little or no English, were the customers we were encouraged to most aggressively push store credit cards on.

Along with what others said about debt and cheap labor, it's worth noting that the capitalists aren't a truly centralized group and are willing to adapt/take massive risks to beat eachother and increase profits. You are wrong, and I will spell out why. The current wave of immigration are mostly Afghans, Iraqi's, Syrians, Somalians, Eritreans. What they all have in commons is being from war torn or "failed" states. In contrast, the guest worker program was intended to import people from friendly, stable allied states: Turkey, Morocco, Fancafrica. That was engineered, and it was better for the capitalists: they got exactly the kind of immigrants they needed at that time, unskilled labor.

But the current chaotic mess is not engineered, and it provides the capitalists with people they can't really use (unskilled labor). The true capitalist approach here is importing workers they want and need, H1B visas and the like.

The effects, though, are the same, mostly.

This isn't some kind of long-term plan or plot.

1. It is largely just based on bringing in new workers to drive down wages.
2.Immigrants are also less willing to organize because their position in the country is insecure, they can easily be deported if they cause trouble.
3.As others have pointed out their is also the whole idea of loading them up with debts so they are guaranteed to remain obedient wage slave.
4. Holla Forums is right to an extent about racial/cultural diversity damaging social solidarity. Regardless leftists in the past were able to deal with this problem and integrate immigrants into working class institutions so hopefully this can be done again. Greek anarchists have been doing an excellent job of this, in the rest of Europe not so much.

This is falling apart because, as machine intelligence advances, machines are increasingly able to take over complex tasks which were once the exclusive domain of human workers. This is fundamentally different from technology advances of the past, which increasingly automated and improved upon repetitive single tasks (which could never be fully automated as new ones would pop up, hence the growth in working hours as predicted by Marx).

The industrial revolution can't fairly be compared to what's happening today. It is one thing to create a machine to make work easier, and quite another for it to do all of the work in its entirety with no humans required.

Migrants are a distraction compared to the shit going on with the EU and the ECB. If another crisis comes southern European countries will probably default. If that happens it's not just south Europe that's fucked but also the northern countries.

The EU has failed completely in all of its tasks, ranging from education to healthcare to foreign policy. The only thing it did good was uniting Europe in trade agreements decades ago so Europe wouldn't ruin itself by competing with each other too much.

Technological advances may not completely destroy the capacity for labor, after all, that's why agricultural automation resulted in industrialization, and industrial automation in the growth of the service sector.

However, at some point you hit a (biolgoical) limit where most of the (human) labor at a certain level has been obsoleted by automation.
At that point you end up with strata of people that are fundamentally unemployable, because they lack either the skills to perform new work or the means to advance to another skill set that would make them employable again.

So yeah. Technology does not as much "destroy" labor, as much as obsolete it. Which is a problem if you want to keep a system based on consumption and wage-based employment running.

I'd say it's not so much that younger people have too much debt, but that their national economies have nowhere to grow. I mean look at one of those Scandinavian countries. By all accounts they have such great social indicators that they don't really have to invest in anything. In old times, capital would seek to remedy this violently, by opening new markets with imperialism, but that's no longer a choice.

So they depend on simple population growth for their national economies to grow that teeeeeensy liiiiiittle bit, but hey, as long as capital is growing, it's alive, so crisis averted. Except that, for a number of factors, Europeans are literally ceasing to reproduce.

Remember a couple of decades ago, when globalists were all about letting capital flow freely while restricting the movement of third world undesirables? Well now they are third world desirables, because they're absolutely needed for W. and N. European population growth, ergo economic growth, ergo capitalist stability.
