If somebody has no real meaningful connections with the world around him and feels a hole of meaning inside him that he yearns to fill than he will be inevitably preyed upon by other people like him who flee to fantasy and magical thinking and any kind of "movement" that they believe will bring meaning to their lives.

Holla Forums is full of these kinds of people, they cling to vapor that they believe is transcendent or noble while living unremarkable, pathetic lives with little real meaning. Its how they comfort themselves. Ive met tons of these people, I talk to them every single day and the minute you start questioning their life buoy they spaz the fuck out because its the only thing that keeps them from ending their life.

It really is this mostly, maintaining an ironic distance to your main social medium echo chamber is hard, especially when it justifies your distance and hate for the outside world.

The very short version is that it has everything to do with people's first encounters with different political groups. When people first encounter "the left" on the internet, it's usually censorious no-fun-allowed types. When people first encounter the right it's often a bunch of trolls mocking the media and causing chaos for the lulz. Guess which one appeals more to younger generations. People change their views based on emotions, not evidence, and first impressions have a huge impact.

Such abandonment of an entire cultural arena ends up strongly discouraging left-leaning people from openly participating in it: either they're worried that it's indeed a homogeneous mass of fascist reaction and it's too dangerous to even get close to – or they're worried that their leftoid friends might see them and assume that they're some sort of crypto-fascist or w/e. if you think that that's exaggeration you haven't seen like, the callout culture of leftists on twitter or tumblr or wherever else.

Obviously, more open leftist involvement in those spaces and cultures wouldn't eliminate or purge any reactionaries, but it'd prevent the reactionaries from being almost unanimous and dominating and having a free opportunity to proselytise to dissilusioned people.

If you condemn a whole mode of cultural engagement as inherently reactionary and backwards, don't get fucking surprised when it indeed gets used as a cultural signifier by actual for-realseis rightists and reactionaries.

The ridiculousness comes from the specific subset of SJWs that, for clicks and attention, decide to optimise what they do/say to generate the maximum outrage, butthurt, and rage from its targets (nonsense like "gamers are dead" or "kill all men" comes to mind).

This isn't to say that anything that generates any sort of negative feelings is bad (most any sort of cultural critique does…), but that *optimising* to generate the *most* of that possible leads to very bad things and nasty backlash.

In the sphere of normie politics, it does seem like socdem / american liberals are far more exclusionary and paranoid of otherness. Conservatives beat off on social media over pics of black Trump voters or christian arabs or syrians, or whatever. There's an authentic open tent desire there, while liberals have a kind of unusually stringent standard of appearance.

As a former alt righter, I'll tell my experiences. For me it was race realism, which is just like modern scientific racism, that got me into it. Shit like the bell curve. I was only 13 or 14 at the time. Well if black people are an inferior race and it has all been proved by science, what is the point in dissenting? It just started with that, learned more, started making tons of nigger jokes, got more and more and more right wing. Also I became an anti-semite. The way you do that is just by saying jews control a lot of the media and are very influential in government and so on, and they have no right to do that because this country doesn't belong to them. That was the logic used.

Also I always had an authoritarian streak and still do. Still believe in philosopher kings. So it was easy for me to embrace some explicitly fashy stuff. I never denied the holocaust though.

Part of the reason why this is so hard to get people to deconvert from this stuff is most leftists act like shitheads and just talk shit to people in the far right. There's no degree of respect. Nothing pisses a far right member off more than being called a racist. It's dismissive. It shuts down all thought. You don't get to have an opinion. Fundamentally it's an accusation of insanity or extreme insincerity. And because normals and lefties (though not leftypol) are such assholes, it enforces the narrative. Where intelligence was considered to be favourable for survival. The problem with the right is that they contribute the entire difference in intelligence level to genetic differences in populations.

The truth is that it does only account for a very small portion of the intelligence difference between first and third world. Nutrition and social factors are the most important. Which is why you can see a tremendous difference between African Americans and Africans. The social factor is huge with families encouraging learning, schools having proper education systems, and the existence social pressure to become more intelligent through hard work. Nutrition is also extremely important. The brain requires a lot of energy to develop. Without proper nutrition it won't develop and it can't develop properly at later stages.

The final problem with the right wing view is that intelligence which is different for populations can still change over time and is not set in stone.
