Is Squidville Nazi paradise ?

Is Squidville Nazi paradise ?
Or Ancap paradise ?

Seems more like a conservative paradise than anything

I don't think Squidward works in that entire episode, so I have no idea. The only people who seem to have jobs are those who maintain the village itself.

SQUIDWARD IS NAZBOL

so ancap land then

Needs more artifacting comrade!

where's that dumb Holla Forums image that has squidward as stirner

...

Squidville was likely just a dream, or perhaps a thought experiment, that Squidward was experiencing. Perhaps a daydream of a perfect existence that quickly sours itself.

There are numerous inconsistencies with the physical world we see in Squidville.

-From a certain angle, there are no numbers on the doors of Squidward's neighbors. From other angles, there are numbers on the doors.

-On the first day at Tentacle Acres, when Squidward joins the clarinet trio and the camera zooms out, Squidward's shirt becomes white instead of orange.

-Squidward parks his bike in front of Full of Health store when he exits the store, it was gone.

-Notice that there are houses facing towards Full of Health. They also appear to be on a different street.

-As Squidward is leaving Full of Health, there are houses next to the store. They appear to be on the same street as well.

-When Squidward enters Full of Health, there are houses that are far from the store, and on a different street. But when Squidward leaves the store, the houses appear to be much closer and on the same street as Full of Health. Also, there are houses behind the houses that are on the street.

-SpongeBob and Patrick sucked in four pieces of Squidward's house when they shoot them back out, six pieces are shown flying through the air.

-Squidward's door was sucked to the side of his house when we see SpongeBob and Patrick, they were nowhere near the side of his house.

-When SpongeBob talks on the phone before Squidward says he isn't moving back, the lines for sound are coming out of the wrong end.

-When the parts of Squidward's house hit his house, SpongeBob, and Patrick's houses are missing.

-Unless Tentacle Acres had a security camera installed while Squidward was in Tentacle Acres, there is no reason that the guard should have asked Squidward the questions he did when Squidward arrived because he should have seen that Squidward was an octopus and alone.

-It is unknown how SpongeBob could have gotten Squidward's phone number, especially on his first day in Tentacle Acres.

-When SpongeBob and Patrick suck the parts of Squidward's house into their reef blowers, they do not suck the house's "ears," but when they are about to return the parts, the ears are missing. One possible reason for this is that the episode initially was going to add the part about sucking up the ears of Squidward's house, but was cut due to episode length.

More inconsistencies exist here than you'll find in the average Spongebob episode.

Squidville is a spook.

...

Is there nothing better to discuss?

The "Full of Health" inconsistency is the only one that sticks out to me. It would be unnecessary extra work to paint a whole different background for the same location. The "rational explanation" would be that it's a chain and Squidville is big enough to have more than one and we're seeing Squidward at separate times in different places.

The other inconsistencies are easily chalked up to animation errors or not caring about consistency in a nonsensical cartoon.

One might argue that dreams are indeed inconsistent nonsensical cartoons of the mind.

Lets see

Nazi paradise.

Do you think that there is something to the notion that Squidward eventually rejects Squidville in order to be an individual and not part of the collective? Isn't the idea of the episode that this sort of thing is indeed not a paradise but instead a prison?

I suppose it depends on what one means by paradise. Paradise in that it is a perfect socio-ideological endpoint of Squidward's general worldview, or paradise in that it is actually beneficial and fulfilling to the populace at the individual level. If anything, I'd say it is Squidward's final rejection of Squidville's very nature (his very nature) that is the episode's true message.

I guess to put it slightly differently, it would be like saying 1984 depictions a fascist paradise. The social structure of the world in that book is indeed quite fascistic, so in a sense this is true, but the picture that the story draws for us is that this is not a good thing for the individuals living in that society, and is therefor not a paradise in the way that we would normally think about it.

Squidward is /ourguy/. He rejects this Nazi paradise and destroys their property, much like good old Max would. He also constantly shows his hatred for business structures and his wish to overthrow them. His love of art is also very clear, but because of capitalism he cannot truly show it

Yep.

Something I noticed is the main characters can fall into a political ideology quite well.

The show is far deeper than most realize.

That is an AMAZING analysis. I never thought of Squidville possibly being just a dream.

No, you got it wrong. It's about classes, not ideologies

Spongebob - Classcucked prole
Squidward - Class conscious, anarcho-communist prole
Patrick - Lumpenprole
Mr. Krabs - Bourg
Sandy - Petit-Bourg

Plankton - Fascist

Plankton is antifa. Full of plans to bring down the system but too incompetent to implement them properly

Flying Dutchman - the haunting Specter of Communism

Plankton wants to bring down the capitalist system, but not to emancipate the worker, rather, to gain power himself. Therefor, he's a fascist

Horseshoe_theory.png

there are two types of fascists - fascists and anti-fascists

Plankton is reactionary.

No one has brought up Squidward's hatred of Squilliam Fancyson aka the biggest bourg in Bikini Bottom.

HE'S FUCKING /OURGUY/

...

Pearl, Mr. Porky's daughter, represents how consumerism has ruined the youth

...

That's crazy. Good analysis, user.

IIRC, Sandy works for a company that expects her to churn out new inventions. I'd say she's rather a prole.
He has a reckless disregard for private property and impulsively destroys things, I doubt he's a lumpen. By being lazy and not getting a job he's sabotaging the system.

Sandy's definitely a socialist that sees how capitalism has ruined science of course, but I don't think she's a prole.
Patrick is a lumpenprole, but he definitely doesn't have any regard for the system

well,Patrick also very clearly is inflicted by some sort mental development impairment.

What are Larry and Mrs. Puff?

fuck off ableist cunt

Larry's a fucking chad but a lifeguard and therefore a prole. Puff is a teacher and also a prole.

They're super classcucked tho. As a normie, Larry doesn't care about politics. As a teacher, Mrs. Puff has probably spread her good share of red scare.

Bubblebass represents how smug consumers can really fuck up the lives of the prole

Larry is a nice guy, he just seems uneducated and apolitical

She's a Driver's Ed. teacher, not a social studies teacher

That's probably it

He is your classic le rational STEMlord neckbeard neo-reactionary

Let's talk about Spongebob. How classcucked is he?

Now we know that he's seen the faults of capitalism. He sees how Mr. Krabs has exploited the environment and destroyed the jellyfish species.

However, he's pretty damn classcuked. He for the most part listens to his boss, he falls for the krabby patty advertisement campaigns, he falls for the mass advertising of the Goofy Goobers, probably believes Mrs. Puff's anti-communist lies, and worships King Neptune himself. The only times when he makes anti-capitalist actions is because someone else told him to. Squidward, the blue jellyfish, etc.

He's not free. He needs a leader.

That just makes it worse.
Didn't you see what happened when East Bikini Bottom tried to make a Trabant boatmobile!?

He bootlicks Krabs all the fucking time, he is class cucked as hell

...

It seems like Spongebob derives a great deal of his self-image and self-worth from his role as a fry cook. This could be because he is by nature an industrious worker with a skill to perform, though on the other hand he is apparently proud to perform this service for the Krusty Krab, an entity that he knows to be highly exploitative in nature.

I think that your conclusion that he is not free and indeed needs a leader is validated throughout the show. We frequently see Spongebob being easily misled or otherwise guided by those around him. Mr. Krabbs, Plankton, Squidward, etc.

This could perhaps be due to his psychological need to be around others while simultaneously not having enough self-direction to be his own decision maker. This is likely not an accident, in our world and in his.

I would say that if we are to call Spongebob classcucked, we have to examine the society in which he lives. Few people in this society appear to have the intelligence, utilitarian compassion and overall power to be effective forces for anything other than their own enrichment within their world. From Mr. Krabbs's fiscal pettiness to Poseidon's cruelty and indifference to Plankton's overconfidence and arrogance, there are no good leaders within the realm of Bikini Bottom that can effectively bring their populations together in any sort of meaningful way. Perhaps there never were, or perhaps the ones that would speak up and attempt to organize would be sent to the labor 'prison'. Notice the size of the prison in Bikini Bottom compared to the overall size of the town. This in itself sends a pretty obvious message to the population.

In this underwater world, you are either a shitty ruler or a good subject. Perhaps Spongebob has 'chosen' life as a happy slave within capitalism as opposed to spending the rest of his days breaking rocks for challenging it. This may be classcuckery, but it is also somewhat pragmatic. Stoic, even. Which is not something most people would accuse Spongebob Squarepants of being.

Haven't we all made the same choice as him, Holla Forums?

...

Now how does squidward fit into this?

Being discontent with the system but refusal to act on it does not get you thrown into prison. This is the choice of Holla Forums and why none of us have been assassinated yet. You can talk about how much you hate capitalism all you want but as long as you stay pacified you are just a useful tool.

Squidward has done plenty of activism tho. He almost democratized the Krusty Krab

Squidward has made the same choice as Spongebob, to live under the perpetual rule of those that are overtly and obviously exploiting them, though I would say he is more aware that the choice has been made. He comes to work with a frown cemented on his face because he is consciously aware of his station in life and is similarly aware of his lack of ability to change or challenge it in any meaningful way.

This is why Squidward's dream or idea of Squidville is an interesting thought experiment. It is Squidward's surface-level idea of what a perfect society would be like, however even this idealized picture cannot exist without the mechanisms of capitalism firmly in place. The end result is him tearing away from his ideal world when he realizes that his minor gain in peace and quite has been subverted by the continued monotony of his existence. In effect, his perfect world is just as dreary as his current world.

In essence, Squidward craves liberation and to depart from contemporary society and the life it has provided him, yet he lacks the imagination and language to articulate a societal framework which would truly set him free and make him happy.

I think his rejection of Squidville represents his rejection of fascism.
