As for general narrative conventions, it's a quick way of making a character seem more resourceful or down to earth. Sneakiness and seeming less violent than characters with greater firepower are optional correlations, but also apparently giving characters a physical edge without going too far. It's basically the perfect thing to give to a character you intend to be an empowered "strong female character". It allows her to be more physically active without too masculine for female audiences. Feminists in particular want androgynous characters so as to deny interest for male audiences, because nothing says "empowered" better than an actress who looks like a 12 year old boy.
The point of click-bait is to lure people with outrageous headlines so they click the page and load the ads. It takes effort to fuck up on that scale, holy shit.
But they're women! They don't need lectures from men on how to construct medium-size structures like that! They're stronk, indipindynt women who doesn't need no men!
On hard and below yeah you could get away with spamming attacks and dodges without too much trouble or mastery of the combat. On infinite climax though you really do need to understand the mechanics such as dodge offset and which combos complement each other since the enemies become much more aggresive and staggering them is more difficult. Even then it's still not Devil May Cry cuhrayzee but still a solid game. Metal Gear Rising though is the one that I feel is more of a let down. Blocking is way too overpowered and you can easily spam it with barely any punishment. The only two prevalent enemies with non-parryable/non-blockable attacks are the Mastif and hammer guys. The hammer guys attack at a comparatively slow place and their unblockable attack is really strongly telegraphed. The Mastif is more challenging but I feel there weren't enough encounters in the campaign for them to become a scrub filter. All of this extends to all of the difficulties even on revengeance difficulty. The wooden sword helps a bit but it's not enough. Great music though and Sam and Armstrong's fights are pretty good.
If the successful sales of Nier and Kingdom Come with the failures of Mass Effect Andromeda hasn't taught the industry devs anything, then they are beyond retarded. Let their shitty ideology try to save them when their business close down. Ubisoft survives on Government handouts from Leafland.

One more thought I forgot to mention is Platinum's tendency to over-telegraph enemies attacks. Especially in MGR nearly every attck is super telegraphed and they clearly mark which ones you can safely block/parry and which ones you can't. I would have preferred that they communicate that information through more subtle means like the enemies' animations/postures/patterns instead of having to essentially scream at you BLOCK THIS and DODGE THIS.

Blocking in bayo is kinda op as well, and actually more useful than dodging in infinite climax where dodging does not witch time but blocking last second does trigger it, its longer than regular witchtime and you parry strike. What bayo 3 needs is unique mechanic weapons like devil may cry weaponary. All of bayos weapons are really similar feeling but each of dantes and neros weapons felt unique.

If Bayo getting "killed" in the teaser is anything, I get the feeling that she won't be the main focus in this game and that the other characters will be getting some attention. So, with that alone, they may have to expand on the gameplay options. I'd like that.

Most of Bayonetta's challenge and ranking is based on "Don't get hit once" as opposed to DMC's "Fill the style meter with as much flash as you can achieve" or Ninja Gaiden's "Kill everything quickly and efficiently". While strings do matter in Bayonetta, you'll spend more time eyeballing for stray enemy attacks or when whatever you're fighting breaks out of hitstun or has super armor. The same applies to most other games but it has more in common with Viewtiful Joe with gameplay flow(Wail on enemy with basic damage output until he performs a move, dodge said move, punish with activated bullet time and enhanced damage, repeat) than DMC beyond crowd management. It gets harder to treat Bayo as a spiritual successor to DMC the more I think about it, as it's probably easier to consider it more as being what Kamiya wanted to do with DMC1 that he couldn't.
This gets posted often and is old stuff, but they don't even bother trying to make it sound remotely relevant to video games. It's like the people who present these slides have never actually played a video game, or have difficulty understanding what the fuck a video game is without resorting to a circularly referential postmodernist book about philosophy.
He'll never figure out the formula himself, nor will he be the one spearheading any formula discovery. Kamiya only serves best as a face for his team, but otherwise relies far more on the rest of the team to come up with anything good than marketing relies on him to grab consumer attention. If DMC was designed exactly as he wanted, apparently jumping and aerial combat would not even be a thing. Coincidentally, Bayonetta's aerial combat is mostly identical to the ground game, though Kamiya ended up liking being able to do moves into and from the air during DMC1's development.

Funny enough I completely forgot about that accessory Moon something during my first play though of infinite climax because I completely tunnel visioned on trying to maste the dodge offset. I felt really stupid during my second play through when I actually stopped in the shop.

This Plat really needs to break out of it's Bayonetta shell. I really hope given Automata's success that they can slow down a bit and experiment a little. Also I recall (maybe my memory is fuzzy) that there was a cheat coode you could enter in Bayonetta to almost immediately unlock all difficulty modes and you could do it instantaneously in MGR by entering the Konami code in the start menu.

Well bayo 1 and moreso 2 on the higher difficulties does that too, but I want to see more emphasis in using more varried combos and punishment for stale moves. and that the panther moves input is changed because its actually annoying when I dodge and accidentally trigger it.
Not in 1, in 2 maybe but 2 still feels like a smaller game than 1. I managed to sell my wiiu vompy 1 to 1 and bought the switch version. Still miffed that 1 is digital but glad how well both run on portable mode.

I finished encoding the Vivian animation made by a local drawfag during the last draw thread. I managed to reduce the more egregious artifacts but some still remain. I will definitely have to remember to give this another go and re-encode it if/when the filesize limit is raised to 20 MB.
