OP it's not a puzzle if you have to make a random guess at any point. To qualify as a puzzle you must be able to exactly infer the right answer from existing data.

Game designer here, not saying for what studio because I'd be fired if they found I used this "evil alt-right website, usually when you do a puzzle game or series of puzzles you should start off with something easy and obvious to ease the player in, but sometimes you can run into a problem that my colleagues and I sometimes refer to as the puzzle paradox.

You make something so obvious or simple that the player doesn't even register it as an option, sometimes we run into this during playtesting where the playtesters will overthink a simple puzzle - they'll keep digging and searching for an complex answer somewhere and completely miss the obvious answer. They'll count the number on tiles in the room or start playing word games to see if they can make sense of it. This is why so many games spell out puzzles in an insulting way, e.g. "WAIT A MINUTE, THAT CARD".

That may be what happened here. You say the first puzzle is simple, but it might have been too simple for anybody to consider it.

I would simply start a thread with a pic, without even posting any accompanying text. Someone would always pick up on it.

If you ctrl+f "SIDE", "inSIDE" would also count as a result.
It could also be two words, like "the game", but he said there were no spaces, so it might be we have to combine two words together, "thegame" for example.
This is all ignoring symbols as well.
And remember, there's no uppercase for the password.
