Does the Mining skill not exist in this version? The failure rate in mining is agonizing and I'm kinda mad that I'm not getting any points in the skill. According to the wiki you're supposed to get it when you equip a pickaxe, but no dice for me.

According to wiki history, this version is about 1 year behind the official version that implemented it.

How do you fix the bug with character portraits appearing above the dialog window? It makes reading what little translated text there is a nightmare.

What does rebirthing actually do? This sounds like some of the problems I've been having.

Resets your level and stats accumulated from levels (not sure on the second part) so that you'll be level 1 and gain AP quicker. Your skills won't reset, however, and your skill ranks are the most important thing.

resets your level back to one, only stats increase you keep are the ones you get from leveling your skills, also you can change your look and age if you want, and after your first rebirth you can choose a destiny which makes training so much quicker

There would be serious fun in a support alchemy build with knuckles melee as a focus.
Freeze enemies and then endlessly combo them til they shatter, and sand blind other enemies so you can safely single target dps.

It's too bad knuckles kind of pale compared to other weapon types. They have no mastery of their own.

Save crystals that aren’t basic elements. Blizzard, shock, life drain, barrier spikes, and all golem variants are all crafted resources, so saving your local smug alch some work is really nice. The basic fire/wind/water/clay crystals are all purchased really cheap, though, so you can toss those.

I use a lot, but i can also make my own; if you can bundle them into a 1k quiver Ragnarok Online-style, then i'd take them, sure.

If you're an elf you can use quivers which hold 500 arrows. Otherwise the cash shop girl sells 1k stacks for about 4000 gold.

I used Relive which is AMD's version of Shadowplay. I had to set it to record desktop to get it to work though.

As for burning out, if you don't just autistically grind one skill like windmill you won't burn out very easily.

The game came out in 2003 but it's maintained by nexon, this serb runs the 2011 version.
if you have an integrated gpu your framerate will drop in crowded areas, but it should run fine in most cpus.

I used to play on a laptop back in the day. the ctrl-targeting made combat not completely suck on a touchpad. It's also click to move, so you're fucked on that end. it's doable

Turns out shields are actually worth a damn.
These are passive defensive procs, the same that make your attacks ineffective sometimes against enemies. It doesn't stack with the auto defenses of armor, but they allow for an extra proc chance.

You can only use return fliers in the Housing channel. Make sure you grab two housing fliers. One to go to the housing channel instead of traveling to it by pet, and the other to make a new return flier after using up the one you have.

get one flier to replace the ticket, and one flier to get you to the housing channel. Then the spare ticket to get you back where you started

with only windmill at rank 3 I have something just over 600 combat points (don't know for sure because your combat points are a hidden value). If you get up to 695 combat points zombies in Tir Na Nog no longer count as bosses. Zombies are great for training windmill because they walk very slow.

I made something autistic and only afterwards learned how to change the camera angle so I'm not always in the center. Played for a bit and I am going to follow OP for the first few days, so to level up windmill I need to keep killing things with it?

Use the skill to get experience; exactly what you need to do with the skill is listed on the skill when you hover over or click it. When the gray bar fills up, spend AP to level it; double-filling it isn't necessary. Skills are ranked by hexadecimal, so F is the the lowest (except for the novice rank) and 1 is the highest.

I personally have barely touched windmill, but then i chuckle to myself over how everyone hates the new meta for beating the game, which isn't in this version, while abusing the old meta for doing more or less the same thing. Of course, i never played Mabi before this, so maybe i'm just not jaded enough yet.

I'm pure alch and the only time I spin is for lycanthropes because you can't kill them any other way. Other than that, I shoot everything with water cannon

How alchemy, the only kind of damage that lacks any kind of protection against is not useful against… well… any mob… at all.

The meta is more or less a skill called bash that petty much is smash but on some serious steroids which behaves like smash just that deals way more damage, has less cooldown/loading and even after post-nerf (eats a huge amount of the weapon's durability) still is the most ridiculous melee skill to date making any melee weapon even the branches turn into either a joke lethal weapon to infinity+1 sword

For magic is petty much the tier 3 elemental magic

For alchemy… well… hydra transmutation of curse

The chain is awesome but impractical given that you must fill a gauge with attacks first

Haven't touched the shuriken that much but seems to be focused on restraining enemies and keeping them away with some skills like the wind shuriken and the explosive shurikens

Divine skills have a major disadvantage of the 3 first ones sharing the same cooldown, the one for the pet is petty good.

Musicians can now stomp the enemie to death besides having buff/AoE debuff songs.

It's perfectly fine to get windmill to rank 9 or rank 5 and stop there because rank 9 gives a cooldown decrease and rank 5 gives a range increase. An AoE knockdown is infinitely useful but slogging through the grind of it past those levels might make you want to kill yourself.

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to install the official one at all.

Uninstall all of Nexon's trash, reinstall 2017 VC and get the download from MabiPro, that's all you need.

Make sure to upgrade your gladiuses like this if you're a human warrior. Even with just the first upgrade you can kill bears and skeletons with only windmill levelled. Low durability means you have to do repairs in Bangor at 2500gp per point but it's worth it.

Neither the players nor the mobs have a way to reduce damage from alchemy greatly like the heavy stander, natural shied and mana reflector, why aren't alchemy skills inheritly stronger agains't mobs, i don't mean OP, lycanthropes should be nothing but a pushover

alchemy damage is reduced by mana deflector so I don't know what you're talking about

Each age has different stat growths but I wouldn't be worried about it. Keep in mind that your character ages one year every saturday regardless of when the character was created.

It depends on which stats you actually want. If you want high int it's actually better to start older because ages below 14 don't get int each year.

Proficiency goes up as you kill things with the weapon. You need enough proficiency and to talk to the right NPC for it to go up (Ranald the school teacher does the first upgrade, Ferghus can do the 2nd and 3rd, and you can find Nicca by doing a continent warp and he'll be in the base camp)

You can reset your skill levels at Duncan in Tir Chonaill as long as your total level is less than 100. You can rank the skills back up to their highest level afterward, but the exp for the current rank will be gone.

222 broads are mediocre even when you have the stats, they're better than glads at around 180-200 dex. but you should go for battleswords if you can.

Are you trying to woo someone for a secret shop or raise an NPC affinity? If you are, the bouquet is a gift, you can buy them at pubs. When it says 6+ it means give them a bouquet and then a single gold coin and then talk to them about their personal story six times. If they say something like "doesn't want to continue the conversation" then give them one gold coin four times and then ask them about their personal story before you continue giving them bouquets.
I gave that healer 50-100 books trying to get the first aid skill ranked up.

To train windmill, is it a good idea to rebirth to a low age for the lower cp, or will I be too weak? I'm currently rank 8, if that's relevant.

CP from age is negligible but if your level starts to go over 50 or you get exploration levels it might be a good idea. Math normal and later rabbie normal should be fine for finding strong enemies. I'm at rank 2, level 45 and age 17 and the TNN zombies are still boss rank, which is the most important part, because killing 1000 of them fills up 50% of the xp to rank 1

images need 4 colors in them to work best. Use fill and just use yellow or something to make it remain white or near white.

No, what I mean is that I try to convert and it gives me errors.
The image in question is grayscale

resize to 256x96, and make sure it's not black and white. Scribble in VC and send it so conversions have your name. C:\documents\mabinogi\visual chat has the "recent" image that you need for the conversion.

I've already done most of that. mmluna crops things out automatically, so I don't bother.
I imagine it has trouble with color so I resaved it as gif and it went through.

There are problems with pure grayscale images for some reason. Sometimes mmluna won't accept them, sometimes it does but the game won't. The only solution I know of is to colorize them a bit (one way is to add a multiply layer in photoshop/gimp and fill it with a light color) and even that doesn't always work.

I'm doing G1, and the wiki says that Goro should give you a special pass to Ciar at the same time you get the quest. Well, I didn't get the pass, and when I try to talk to him again the keyword I used originally is missing. Anyone know what's going on?

Wiki lies, even if you set it back to march 2011. Need to do a normal ciar and do it solo.

There is no special pass, instead you must do ciar basic solo. You can cheat this a bit by bringing friends on the ciar basic run and having them change channels or relog before the boss door opens. Then you have to fend for yourself against the boss and the ring will be in the end chest.

I know this method works on other non-story dungeons but I haven't tried this myself for this quest.

You need a basic pass to get into that dungeon. If you want to skip farming for a pass which doesnt take long you can buy and unlimited pass from Shyla for 30k. Drop it on the dungeon altar and it'll bring up a menu for you to pick what dungeon level to enter.

The best thing to do is play around with different weapons (including magic, ranged) to find out a playstyle you like and then find a bunch of life skills that either complement it or serve as a nice distraction from it, or both. Fighters are pretty hard pressed to find complementing life skills because they all seem to either be dex heavy or painful to grind. Looking at you, blacksmithing. Alternatively find someone that needs what your life skill can make (ex: go into carpentry/handicraft if you have an archer friend). You can reset your skills at any time so don't worry about optimizing a build or anything until you hit level 100.

What determines success rates is int and powder.

not really, armor barely has any different in the amount of damage you get hit with, so just wear whatever you like best

Level windmill, and you can reset your skills and respect before level 100. That's what I've picked up at least, I'm new too

Don't worry about fucking up your skills, you can reset them for free for no downside (besides losing the progress to the next level) until you total 100 levels, which by then you are guaranteed to know what you're doing and want. They're reset but you can level them back to their previous level also free of charge.
I don't think there's a proper starter guide around but the game is pretty simple, save for how you'll want someone to teach you about the combat because there are a lot of intricacities and tricks you can learn that help.

Don't do just this. Level EVERY skill and reset after you max it, then move on to the next skill.

Whoever wants to do ciar basic as their mimic mascot (antique mimic or wooden mimic) please come to ciar and answer this post so I can know how many we are.
There's no reason to do this, we're doing it for fun.

There are some limitations however:
The mimics only know lighting bolt and defense as their fighting skills (they can also use healing and first aid for support).
Pets can't carry bags (but they CAN carry money bags)
Pets can't get in dungeons alone, so we need a human/demi-human to drop us in and leave.
Pets can't ask Nao for revival, so bring phoenix feathers.
You'll need mana potions, seeing as you can only attack with magic.
Get to ciar and summon then despawn your mimic, because when you log in as your pet it'll be at the last place it was summoned at.

No it's easier to level them, you keep your skill experience if you had ranked them.
So say you had rank 1 smash, you could reset it and then rank it back up to 1 after you rank something else up.

You do it because it refunds the AP used to buy the skills so you can level more skills with less grinding and also because it lowers your CP which is your character's power level in regards to their stats. It is relative CP that defines if the enemies you're attacking are weak, strong, awful, or boss. Some skills require you to use them on powerful enemies and if you're really strong, that leaves only really strong enemies to fight - or no common enemies if you really fuck it up.

Luckily, knuckles are pretty fucking high damage to make up for their lack of a mastery.

A good way to do that is to make a trip to Ceo Island where strong golems naturally spawn. Take off all your equipment and aggro them. Keep doing "Revive at same location" for maximum exp loss until you have -99% exp.
If you can't make it to Ceo Island, grizzly bears are a good alternatives
