Nintendo DS Games

Looking through all my old stuff I found my old DSTwo, thankfully, is still working, recommend me some good DS games to play.
Preferably some comfy games

RF3 was the best RF game, even better than RF4. Ghost Trick is the only game I've ever played that I would ever give a true 10/10 masterpiece rating. Pokemans.

yeah, i enjoyed rf3 more than 4, although 4 is more laid back while rf3 is more fast-paced so comfier is questionable. something about 4 having a female protag made it so that the bachelorettes were culled in half. rf1/frontier still had the best waifus though.
kirby super star ultra is pretty comfy.

Take it the fuck back. RF3 had the best by far.

nethack :^)
gamebrew.org/wiki/NetHackDS

PMD Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky
Chrono Trigger remake if you've never played CT
Disgaea DS
Dragon Quest V
Elite Beat Agents
I personally thought Zelda PT was fun but I was a kid at the time so take it with a grain of salt

Lost in Blue can be comfy if you're not dying.

I liked Phantom Hourglass way more than Spirit Tracks, for what it's worth. Linebeck is one of the better side characters they've ever used.

...

there is a fun space vidya game called infinite stratos something.

Trauma center
Elite Beat Agents
Chibi Robo
Ghost Trick
megaman ZX is better than ZXA in my opinion
Lost Magic
Sims 2 Can be fun as a dumbed down animal crossing
Actually just play Animal Crossing Wild World
The World Ends With You
Some people say the DS version is the best version of Chrono Trigger
also Order of Ecclesia is the best ds castlevania
metal slug
contra
space invaders EXTREME
GTA chinatown is fun
Zelda Phantom Hourglass

That was Infinite Space, you dumbass.
Infinite Stratos was just ecchi/mecha/harem manga/anime with MC being dense as black hole. It was good for some fap at least.

It's still worst game in that series.

I would agree if they allowed MC to marry Shino or Hazel.
Sakuya or Karina reaction would priceless.

Phoenix Wright original trilogy.
Monster Rancher DS.
Digimon World games on DS. Three of them in english.
Atelier Annie:Alchemist of Sera Island
My World My Way. :^)
Rhapsody:Musical Adventure

The World Ends With You

Game was fun but the story sucked balls, mostly because they shoved in Vaan and the like.

More fun then I would be willing to admit to be honest.
grab it if you want to play as the girl trying to prove she isn't a spoiled brat by pouting so hard the very earth itself changes for her

The story was really just basic. Vaan and Penelo were just side characters, and cooler in this game then they were in 12

How did FFTA2 kill off the series? I doubt squarenix higher ups or Matsuno had any plans to want to continue tactics. Just jerk off Ivalice in XIV MMO expansions

Wasn't there a mobile game?

the best pokemon game is on the DS.

That you had to take into your Clan. You fucking had to. Just like Al Cid.
I'm just glad that the game still had Mont Blanc in it.
And the qt Frimelda

What's with the shitty art?

I can agree to that. That and not being able to use laws and antilaws to nullify rules were the two big flags for me.

It’s trying to merge the art style of Pokémon and Nobunaga’s Ambition, but it kind of failed.

is there a gaming system with a library as impressive as the NDS? It is 2018 and I am still playing this thing almost every day finding new games I missed out on years ago.

Rhythm Heaven is pretty cool. It's surprising that it wasn't yet mentioned in the thread.

There's patches that fix the Zelda games being touchscreen based.

Keep an eye open for Super Mario Star World, giant upcoming Mario 64DS hack whose creator claims it has a bigger overall world size than Odyssey.

You mean a library with a surplus of mediocre games that have shoehorned, gimmicky controls? Try the Wii.

PS2 and SNES

Does it fix the controls? I wanted to like 64 DS but it controlled like hot ass.

PSP was as good as the DS but with a different library, and adding the built-in PS1 emulator (which was certainly decent, though you could face some occasional issues)

I still use my NDS and Vita as both primary systems for japanese vidya

Etrian Odyssey 3 is an outright masterpiece on the DS.

Also has anyone tried Chibi Robo DS? Not the Park One, the one thats a sequel to the Gamecube. It got a fan translation a while back.

I don't see much point in the DS when you can run all DS games with a flashkart on an 3DS and get the benefit of also being able to play 3DS games too.

Only if you can read moon do their libraries start to look comparable. I find the quality of the DS' library to be incredibly overrated but in terms of localized software it has the PSP beat.
Though my PSP did get more use during the 7th generation thanks to one thing: emulation.

At the time it was a portable emulation juggernaut and I loved it. Nowadays with every smartphone under the sun capable of emulating everything the PSP can along with the PSP itself has made the novelty worn off. I was looking forward to the Vita taking its place but its homebrew community has remained stagnant for one reason or another, causing me to turn to the 3DS for all my portable emulation needs. Bar the D-pad placement, it's pretty great. Native GBA support is a huge plus and the 240p screen is perfect for older games (even if everything is upscaled on the horizontal axis).

Nice thumbnails, faggot

Main issue I had with the 3DS was that the japanese games on it didnt use a proper character font, which made kanjis with numerous strokes to be difficult to properly identify. Having a LL model didnt help on the matter too.

The japanese NDS games have a common and adequate character font which make reading easier, though only on the nds screens themselves.

I heard it has some movement tweaks but I don't know exactly what the guy did.

The DS itself doesn't have an analog stick, so you're stuck with D-pad+Run-button or you have to use the touchscreen to simulate an analog a-la mobile devices, and yes, that sucks.

Emulating it, however, allows you to use an external program also made by the creator of the hack.
It tethers your mouse to the touchscreen and you can use an actual joystick of your choice to control it.
The hack I mentioned, and also a patch (from the same guy) to the vanilla Mario 64, allows you to choose a control scheme made specifically for that external app, that uses the DS d-pad for camera control(you can then use the emulator to re-map it to a second analog stick, or sholder buttons, for instance) and doesn't use the "run" button in the mappings since you don't need it with analog control.

I don't have any problem with kanji in 3DS games. Which one did you have a problem with?

Ah, there's a small demo here with said movement tweaks and also the external app to use an analog stick with it. Just pause the game and select the joystick control scheme before activating it.

please no bully!

didnt that got butchered in the DS?

How is the screen an issue, you can literally play at native resolution by holding the Select button when starting an NDS game.

Sasuga NISA.

Really? the Zelda games from the DS were really mediocre thanks to the touch controls, I will probably replay them with that patch.

Stella Glow and Toshi Toshin to name a few examples. But I really do think this could have gone better if I did choose an original/new 3ds or 2ds over any LL model instead

Sounds fantastic. Will definitely keep an eye out for this hack's release.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. It's repetitive, but as someone who uses their DS mostly as a lullaby of sorts, it was the perfect game to play before falling asleep. Also the story is pretty good in my opinion. Its characterization is cute. It's not genre-defining or mindblowing, but I personally really enjoy it. Also the Phoenix Wright original trilogy.

Translated by NISA.
It probably was then.

Haven't seen mentioned:
WarioWare: Touched!
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors

You just need more practice.

Radiant Historia.

Solatorobo, if you can find a copy that is below 100 USD

I have never seen anyone here ever talk about Avalon Code, shame to it's a pretty fun game.
Speaking of DS games are there any sites left that still host DS roms or have they all caved in to nintendos over zealous lawyers?

Advamce Wars Days of Ruin
Etrian Odyssey 3
SMT Strange Journey
Dragon Quest 4,5,6 and 9
Main Pokémon games: first play platinum, then HeartGold or SoulSilver, then Black or White, then Black 2 or White 2
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky
All ace attorney games (Start with Phoenix Wright 1)
Ghost Trick
Layton Games (start with curious village)
999
These are just some of the best ones I have played. I know I am missing many games.

Also the DS Zeldas are good, the touch controls actually work very well. Same people who complain about their controls were the faggots that didn't like Kid Icarus on the 3DS.
And TWEWY and Pokémon conquest are really good too.

Nicoblog is still going strong I think?

Just remember to use romhacks for these, if you don't want to play in easy modo.

...

Pokemon Explorers of the Sky
SMT: Devil Survivor 1-2
Trauma Center 1-2
Bangai O Spirits
Ketsui Death Label

Anyone have the roms pre-patched?

Touch controls killed that dragon ball game on DS or me so i've avoided the zelda games on there like the plague.

Play Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland if you want a lesson on greed and an implied sex scene.

Ace Attorney games if you play VNs
Etrian Odyssey games if you like first-person dungeon crawlers
Ghost Trick if you want a short, nice game
LovePlus if you want a waifu
Mario Kart DS, especially if you have people to play with
Tomodachi Collection if you like Tomodachi Life/Mitomo
Super Scribblenauts if you haven't played it yet
Sokoban DS is a nice puzzle game
Sideswiped is a crazy racing game
Pop Town is a nice rhythm game with dressup mechanics
GTA Chinatown is pretty much the best handheld GTA, imo
Pokemon game of your choice

I only found the patch for Spirit Train.
I patched it once and found that button controls work for Zelda, but other controls, like when controlling the train, are still touch controlled.

Easily googled, you can download the patch and patch it yourselves.

dragon quest heroes rocket slime is fun

Avalon Code started okay.. great actually.
Then you realize you have to micromanage every 'DNA', and there is no storage to put those to when not in use. I have to find a place to fit some 'DNA' in, and that wasn't fun at all.

I'd say the DS was up there with the SNES, PS1, and PS2 in terms of having a vast library with lots to look into. Of course, any popular system also sees a lot of shovelware too, but ideally the ratio of good games to shovelware should be much higher the former to the latter. It's a shame that some people weren't willing to delve deeper than the surface; hearing the DS called "just another Pokemon system with nothing else going for it" at times where I live annoyed me.

There's always emulation or flash carts. Though, I do feel lucky that I managed one for $15 around the time Gamestop was trashing every cover, case, and manual for preowned DS games.

Another user and I were discussing it in the "encyclopedia" thread. Of course, it's one of those games where at this point it really doesn't warrant it's own thread, but even beloved, popular-amongst-user games like Ghost Trick don't really warrant threads at this point either.

Something you might like if you haven't seen it already. Think it's a reupload of the one that had been on Nicoblog before the purged non-actual-game uploads.

Those Touch Generations banners are ugly (albeit I've seen worse attempts at "Greatest Hits"; Dawn of Sorrow comes to mind), between bumping the cover art down, cropping it, and in the case of Hotel Dusk, the orange throwing off the color scheme used (red, black, white, and grey being colors that all fit together well on their own). Took some searching years back just to find a complete copy that was from the original run, but at least it was cheap when I did. Shame the same can't be said for Last Window, but we didn't even see that hear in NA.

Reminder that Tingle's Balloon Trip has an English patch now. As does some Lupin the III adventure game.

No one mentioned the best Ds game.

That game is way easy with way too much dialogue, but fuck if the art style isn't extremely comfy.

These two games were seriously incredible.

The first game was great. Champions took everything that made the first game bitching and made it better.

Frontier took away all the good stuff, added a bunch of bad stuff, and lacks the fun the previous two games had.

Always bet on Endou

It's a shame that the second game has heavy protection and can't be played on the pc

user, pls.

…because it was shite?

For comfort, there is nothing but Kirby.

Is the first game still worth playing in addition to the second, or would you not miss much sticking with Champions?

>tfw I only know the name of this game from hentai

You don't get to know what the game is about and I really would ask that you don't research it before hand.
It is going to blow your fucking mind.
Here's a mega link.

Thanks for the virus

4 was better mechanically and had a better post game, 3 had better waifus, and 2 was better in that it still retained the rival system

...

Don't get your panties in a bunch.
Just trust me.

oh yeah that fills me with boundless confidence

Fucksake I'll just upload the NDS for you

too late mega satan I already downloaded it

mega.nz/#!YvAVWCCa!j0Qx5xGQROSAJ247-VzqLYSzh8yNsmYgwv5whB5GXfw

Heard of that game before. Pretty sure its sequel also got fan-translated too.

well it isn't dolphin porn so I suppose that's already a plus
though I don't know why it thinks that making me keep turning the thing 90 degrees to swap form the VN and walking parts to the menu and the subgame was a good idea.
also I really fucking hate this walking good fucking gravy

no such thing
