UE4 is pretty flexible in the graphics department, you can tweak it and get whatever results you want, so I'd say it's Bamco's fault.
UE4 gets pretty shitty with fighting games due to its laggy input, it's the reason why SFV has 5-6 frames of input lag.

you could probably find a qanba or hori 360ps3 stick for fairly cheap & just buy a ps4 adapter and still come out paying less than you would for a ps4 stick. make sure to buy a good stick though, the whole beginner stick meme fucking stupid. a quality stick will often outlive the console it was built for.

Anything made for 360/PS3 is fairly cheap now. Just make sure the buttons/joystick aren't worn out. Even if they are you can replace them for fairly cheap ($20 for a new Sanwa joystick and about $0.50-$4 per button depending on what you get). You can get an adapter to make it work on PS4 for about $30 or replace the internal PCB with a new one for around $100.

The costumes in the first 3 games (SB, SC and SC2) have a somewhat believable simplicity and practicality about them, like something the characters scrounged up, were given or crafted/smithed but then start getting nonsensically complicated like how V Ivy has a tux jacket and no pants (weird meld of her I-II alts) and a absurdly decorated shoulder piece; did she walk into a blacksmith like "I want a snake head with a skull inside its mouth" or something?
It's a odd thing to whine about but the world building was one of the things that made me love the series; most scenery looked like it was made to be a sincere depiction of contemporary times and supplemental artwork showed that characters with odder outfits would wear travel garb. But here's the trick. The auto-combo is not purely coincidental, as in you can mix into it other attacks before letting it finish and launch a real combo. There's a unique move that pops up just from following the auto-combo that you can't do without following it. it's superficially pretty simple & easy to get into, but there's a lot to like in there. i wouldn't say that the combos are necessarily difficult but they're definitely not limited either and there are a lot of executionally simple but tricky things that you can do in neutral that make it pretty fun.

My thing with the forum was I could pick up a script my friend wrote or another one I'm very familiar with and throw together all the other stuff I mentioned (wiki/articles/video and picture gallery) quickly with them. It allows you to share the user database between all those features by using the one from the forum's database.

For now I'm just going to focus on collecting all the fightan vidya I can and putting together a page people can get it from. I'm going to make all my steam versions of recent games into stand alone/cracked versions starting with BB:CF. I want to focus on that because it's a PITA to find most PC versions of fightan games in stand alone format at the moment and if you do they usually don't have all the DLC.

I won't be hosting them on the webserver itself but I will be making torrents and uploading them to one-click hosters and making sure they're on IPFS. Once I get a lot of them released I'm going to see what I can do about making the netplay work for some of them that don't already have unofficial matchmaking servers. Sometime in the far off future I'd love to have something like fightcade that supports voice chat/modern fightan games but it's a pipe dream of mine for now.

If any of you guys have ideas or want to help out let me know I'm always lurking the /fightan/ general. I have a pretty decent VPS to host this site on right now and if needed I'll throw a few extra bucks and upgrade it once I get the actual site built and see how well it holds up to the load.

Nobody ever got into fighting games for the frame data. New fighting games these days have Dragonball Z characters and My Little Pony knockoffs flying around and blowing each other up, but all there is in this "for newfags" game is boring retreads of existing fighting game archetypes. The character designs only worked in the card game because of the novelty of having a card game based on fighting game archetypes.
A lot of games catch heat for trying to be accessible for new players, but you have to be able to attract players at all if you're going to have enough newfags that accessibility is a concern. It's shit. In fact I thought they realised it was shit and already gave up on it when the funding campaign failed.

DBFZ's soundtrack has been generally pretty bland, but there's definitely some bitching tracks on it.

The soundtrack's pretty shit. It's bland and doesn't even feel like Dragon Ball, so they could've just gone with Ishiwatari to get something that might not fit, but at least sound really good. Another problem is the tracks are 2 or max 2.5 minute long, then it just repeats. Too fucking short, and they feel like they lack an ending, stronger part to drive a point. Weakest part of the game I think, too bad it's a pretty crucial one. I only like Beerus' theme and Goku's a bit, but even there I feel like they for some reason cut out the last parts.

One thing that drives me fucking nuts about the soundtrack is that the songs don't loop properly. When you're in training mode for a while, they'll actually fade out then start playing again. That's some MUGEN-tier shit right there.

Well to be honest, the game was never going to be as popular as the folks say it would be. Considering the origin of how we manage to even get Them's Fightin Herds, especially of what it was before the game was always destined to get a small crowd, with or without FighterZ. But I've been following this for too long since I'm gay, so I'm gonna get it when it comes.

Another thing about training mode that's retarded is they got the block stance option mixed up. If it's on don't switch, the enemy will go from crouching to standing whenever he feels like so he'll block everything if he is on Block All. When I turned it to the blue option which says the enemy will be standing up, he doesn't get up from crouching stance so I can check which specials break it. Minor bug, but annoying as for a second I almost thought crouching block is literally impossible to break through without dragon rush, which confused me since I saw different shit during matches.

You know what fucks me about this? Her glide. There are a million character you can rip off glides from, and they even have the 3D model so they don't need to animate individual frames like a sprite artist would. Despite that, what we get looks awful. In theatre, you'd say her blocking is awful - that is, her closer legs and arms obscure her face and torso. It's unacceptable. Fuck, just rotate the model 25 degrees and she's probably look fine.

I think the Mystery Game Tournament exposure at Frosty Faustings helped. I guess the one of the benefits of crowdfunding for a project like this is that we'll get Goat no matter what happens to the game at launch. You should never underestimate horsefucker autism, either, which may be a surprise buoy to the game's sales.

DBFZ single-handedly changed my opinion of tag fighters, and if it didn't have Denuvo I'd be eating it up and learning assist timings like everyone else. FighterZ has hype going for it since it is new, not MvC, easy to smash learn but hard to smash master, Dragon Ball and all, but even without Denuvo I think the game is going to die down (still active of course) in a couple of months. Maybe by then they will release a new character or two, people have interest in the game again, just for a few weeks later to loose that interest again realizing that most players would have mastered the game by now and destroy all those who are either new or learning it themselves.

If the Twitter videos I'm seeing are any indication, every character has a bunch of dumb bullshit and there are plenty of hidden system mechanics like fireball trajectories and Ginyu's seppukku and Android 21's corner teleport air loops which make the characters seem distinct.

I don't think it'll be an SFIV situation where everyone and their fucking dog owns the game and knows about it, but I think the game will be popular by virtue of being accessible, being Dragon Ball, and having enough depth to keep people entertained. As I said earlier, it's a surprisingly good example of how to make a tag game for people like me who hate tag games.

There's certain to be a drop soon. I play GG and while DBFZ is fun, I miss my RCs. I'm certain people who mainly play Tekken or BBCF feel the same way and those are the people who're going to be quitting in the next few weeks.

That said I don't see DBFZ dying anytime soon. It fills the gaping hole MvCI left and there's a decent number of people who're playing it because they're DBZ fans and this is just the latest DBZ game to them.

I hate tag games, and this game is only less appealing to me that the average tag game, mostly because of the fullscreen air dashes, the super animations play so many goddamn times it eventually feels like a chore to sit through them, and the fact that there seems to be very little neutral play and the few there is seems slow and clunky.

I'd have bought it if I wasn't so certain there will be a "super" version of it next year. Also, on an unrelated note, I still can't believe how bad the character design for SFV has been. They all look like generic create a characters.

That's true of any tag game, and personally I didn't notice it. It might be worse than usual because there are only level 1 and 3 supers, and characters only have one assist each.
I think that's something which will improve as people become more familiar with the game. Given the preponderance of beam projectiles and a dedicated projectile button, I can't say I'm surprised. I think they want neutral to be slower than in, say, Marvel, so players are less overwhelmed with visual noise. Features like that and the EXTREMELY generous crossup blocking (the game appears to accept all blocks as valid if you are "locked" in blockstun and then crossed up, for instance) will likely drive away tourney players, but then again all the 236 motions and fanservice should have told you their audience was the Dragon Ball fan rather than the tag fan.

I don't blame you for feeling that way, of course. I just haven't had much of a chance to actually play and figure out how to play neutral, so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

what could possibly be wrong with that? i have always thought the existence of the other input moves was due to the developers having to come up with inputs that didn't overlap, but that also were not complex enough that they would be slow to execute, for example pretzel inputs may work for supermoves but not as a special move input, at least not for a fast character.

Basically this. It succeeded in what it was meant to do and aside from Bamco's Denuvo, it didn't disappoint. I've had some very satisfying matches and explored some of the depth it has, but I'll be playing Rev2 again real soon. I need to emphasize, it does have an enjoyable amount of depth. Maybe it's just me but it feels like the non-saiyan characters have the most depth. I'll need to play it more to confirm. Right now Yamcha, Piccolo, and either Tien or Hit make me happy.

The one thing I wish I could take home with me is the netcode. I wasn't expecting to have functional matches fighting against people who have 0 bars. I wouldn't have even accepted the fight if I didn't press accept by reflex but I was pleasantly surprised that the fight while not smooth was playable. Meanwhile in Xrd, that's a fantasy, most times 2 bars isn't playable.

Top tier characters are usually very boring to play, since they only require you to abuse their most powerful special move and use the same combo string repeatedly to win.

I usually end up picking low tiers or borderline low tier. Not even on purpose most characters I think are cool end up being there because I don't even check tiers to pick mains instead I play every character and also watch its high level play and then decide if that is fun. As an example I picked Omen in S2 and ram in S3 of killer instinct and before they had significant buffs and were completely viable they were the worst of their respective season.

Seriously user my fault I shouldn't drunk post. I'm just so mad at the state of things lately. I was hype for this game then they just kept announcing bad things like the DRM and it killed it for me. I was so excited for a game I knew casuals would get into but now I don't even want to buy it due to all the bullshit. Same thing with the BB tag game. Was super hyper but then they kept putting in guest characters and now decided to lock half the cast behind a DLC paywall. I was taking my rage out on you for no good reason.

He's always been mid-tier but capcom really messed him up in SFV. I don't know how well he plays in season 3 because I haven't messed with arcade edition much but when Daigo drops him you know he's awful.

I think a lot of long time /fightan/ players will drop it within a few weeks but newfags will play it and keep it going for a long time. It just doesn't have the tech of other popular games like BB and GG.

I still play it every week and a lot of locals do as well. We train new players on it because it teaches good fundamentals. Usually they move on to GG or BB not long after but we always come back to USFIV somehow.

I don't play them either but usually it's because the characters I like aren't top tier. I always end up picking lolis and/or weak characters anyway because it's more fun. When I do pick a top tier it doesn't feel fair because I end up doing damage for so little work. Some characters in the high tiers do require a lot of complicated inputs and they're fun to play.

I think they hired a vorefag to do 21's lines, they're really shallow ones until 21's arc where they split and you use 21's good side who does none of that shit personality wise. They focus waaaaaay too much on 21 eating in her ground ultimate, not even Majin Buu fat/kid get that much focus on their eat moves.

She's a really good character fightwise though since her Lvl3 ground candy thing heals her and her Lvl3 air is super fucking fast on entry.

Her stabbing gimmick is unblockable and three versions can be comboed into while the last ground stab-grab needs you to be good at predicting the opponent. She requires knowledge of all styles of play. zoning, pressure, mixup and rushdown are all possible with her, and a lot of her moves are shared with other characters and have the same properties. Her only issue is learning what move you absorb does what, though you can just play her as a character who just uses the grabs to power up her destruction ball and focus on her normals.

She's got nice tits though.

i have a soft spot for gimmicky weird characters and those invariably end up being low-mid most of the time. these days i try to learn top tiers simply because we end up seeing a lot of them competitively and having an understanding of what they do makes tournaments more interesting to watch.

Do you guys play only one game 24/7? A friend bought the game for the PS4 and brought to our almost biweekly meetups. We as Dragon Ball fans loved the interactions between characters and, besides one of us, none liked UMvC3 or MvCI so we all liking to play the game for hours was a pleasant surprise. The game looks to be deeper than it looks with many "secret" stuff like Cell's and #18 controlling their fireballs. Autocombos are useful to fill meter and autocorrects jumps so you can tag in to do big damage with you anchor. I just want to know what to do with Yamcha's normals but Tenshinhan is just great to play.

But it's not like we all only played that. We usually have 2~3 setups in a place where people mostly play boardgames and Magic. DBFZ along with Samurai Shodown V Special made more casuals interested in playing with us. There's always one 3D fightan on too (usually DOA5LR or VF5FS) and MKXL/Injustice available. But it's not like I did stop playing KOFXIV I even got '98 just to play there and not bring my notebook everytime or Blazblue all 3 of us..
In case you're wondering about Street Fighter, people there only care about Alpha2/3 and 3rdStrike so we're all just praying Capcom don't fuck up with that collection.

It's really fun and worth picking up a Wii for. I think you'd like it because they simplified the controls but things don't get too crazy and there aren't many touch of death situations in the game. Check out both versions, the Japanese one has a character that didn't get in the US version and there are other minor differences like the background music changing during tags. If you do manage to play it try to git gud with Roll before you play friends. I love trolling people with her healing super. I timer scam with it like a total scrub.

Right now that is BB:CF, once you get deep into a game like that with friends you just want to keep playing to see how much you've improved every week. I just don't think the hype for DBZF will last. Capcom sent me a rootkit and now Bamco has pulled a bait and switch on me twice with their DRM. Sega got me this year too. Oh guys since I'm here I thought I'd update y'all on fightan.moe. I decided for now just to have an archive of software, ROMs, and repacks of PC ports. I'm currently trying to figure out where I'm going to upload all this stuff. Some of it I can host on the server but the bigger stuff will have to be offsite. At first I'll just list publically available repacks/cracked copies but after I get the archive up I want to start dumping things myself to ensure they're good and include all the DLC/content. I want people to be able to install the game and have everything unlocked at the start in case they're building a cabinet or hosting a tournament.

I also have the entire Nesicaxlive set which are great but a PITA to run properly sometimes. I'm including those on the archive but I'd love to take a crack at making them easy to install/configure in the near future. The existing loaders are okay but things could be better for sure and I need to freshen up on my programming skills anyway.

Is the new Tekken any good? A friend picked it up on console, so I'm considering picking it up seriously since it seemed alright for the hour or so we played and I want to know if it's worth the time. I can't get a sense for whether or not 7 is any good (outside of the PC version being denuvo-fucked and the community seemingly not being on board with rage arts).

For context, I have some SF experience, but I've never picked up Tekken. I'm also pretty out of practice.

Gameplay wise it's the best Tekken by far, but single player content is worse than previous ones and customization is also worse than T6. Just pirate it and see it for yourself, if you decide to buy it you can just copy the files to Steam

In addition to having a list sorted by console/pcb/PC you could also sort it by developer. You could have a section for Capcom games, another for ArcSys, an SNK section, another for doujin games, etc. Which might help you put the same works of a series together. Maybe you could even have a page that lists all the games in your database you have sorted alphabetically. Have you decided if you'll have english only names or not? I think it'd be easier to find some games if you had english and japanese like "Koihime Enbu (恋姫演武)", "Arcana Heart (アルカナハート）", or "Hisoutensoku (非想天則)", especially if the game is a relatively unknown doujin game or something.

It's usually best if you don't directly host files, but just links to ddl/torrent it. You probably won't get taken down for doing that and download speeds will be faster.

Even if I were to ignore the degenerate pony fan characters, I don't see anything appealing about the gameplay. For example there's clearly no grapplers or characters who can do huge damage off single hit moves. There isn't really a huge variety of playstyles. All of the characters seem to play very similar, and there's only 6 of them.

Just winning over the non-ponyfags to play this game is already an uphill battle. But even among pony fans most of whom are pretty autistic, they won't understand a competitive fighting game. So the very most I can see them doing is dipping into it for the story mode and then taking a hike once that's over.

I'm fully convinced that outside of the furrybucks that funded this game's development, it's going to be a flop.

I don't know if I'l be playing after a few months but it's been years since I was so interested in a new IP. Maybe the last one was Skullgirls but that game ended up too reset heavy for me and before that was Blazblue and that was 10 years ago! Arcana Heart and P4U were pleasant surprises but the latter one probably due to having lots of similiarities to KOF2002 with its Shadow characters.

I loved BlazblueCT when it first came out and at the time never played Guilty Gear before so it was kind of my first "anime fighter" besides MvC games coming from a NeoGeo, UMK3 and Street Fighter background. Bought Continuum Shift as soon it came out and its DLCs but got really pissed at the Extend bullshit. Waited a lot to get CP at discount just to have another Extend barely played both. Mostly the story, arcade and stuff shoved into my face and just got Central Fiction when Jubei was announced. So even if I find the games to be fun, after that burnout I never recovered the same "thrill" to play so we mostly play to have fun and not to "git gud". I'm honestly more surprised by the reactions of people to Cross Tag having all that DLC planned than the fact itself.

Besides the context, Blazblue kind of has a lot of bullshit and character specific stuff like invul values and gimmicks. ArcSys sometimes makes no sense with balance updates sometimes turning tierlists upside down with a single patch or new iteration. And that comes from a guy who main game is KOF'98 for the last… 20 years which has unblockable setups, moves literally called "proximity unblockables" and like 5~6 viable characters at high level.

'98 is also a pretty simple game with two grooves modifiying movement, meter and defensive options. No RC stuff and that's my main complain against 98UMFE along with Eiji so the combo flow is pretty linear besides few exceptions. The damage is also really high so one mistake can be crucial to lose your character in a few hits only surpassed by SamSho where almost to no combos and huge damage on punishes are the main thing.

Well, there's like at least two DS4 for each PS4 and everyone is welcome to bring your own controller. I think there wasn't anyone at that level of bitching but sometimes one can do stupid shit with the controller when they lose so we ask like U$4.00 a day to play on our DS4s and put the money on prizes for small tourneys. Ever since that there are less broken stuff here.

But after fucking GodEater you were pretty naive to think Tekken7 and DBFZ wouldn't have Denuvo. But honestly, that can be the least of your problems if Microsoft ends up buying the whole thing and simply pull the plug on Windows7 in 2019~2020.

I really wish MvC3 or MvCI was more like that game. Leaving out the Genie one of the only things in the game that I actually watched along with Gatchaman in the western version was a crime. And where's my sequel with Speed Racer and the newer animated versions of Gatchaman (Crowds), Yatterman (Night) and Casshern (Sins) Tatsunoko and Capcom?

Are you me user? 98 is my game as well. Bought a Neo-Geo cabinet (big red 4 cart) just so I could play it on real hardware/cart. Right now I have a bootleg cart in it with 161 games (most are just hacks) but in the future I'm hoping to get that sweet cart with the SD-Card. Just can't justify dropping 400 euro on it which is more than I paid for the damn cabinet. I really wish the prices for custom hardware like that wasn't do high.

Going to work on fightan.moe some more today. I really need to get another HDD so I can back-up all my fightan related files. The install of Windows 7 on this machine is like 4 years old so I really need to format and re-install it.

I know Krillin is good to heal with if you're on the offense and call him out while you have a blockstring going. I'm also honestly not to sure what to do with Krillin when he's out aside from the basic combos. I don't really know how to get in on people with him.

I had been holding these in a barn on our farm that we'd converted into a bar. This spring we're moving into our new location; a huge building with tons of floor space. I plan on filling the place up with Candy Cabinets over the next few years and hosting a lot of tournaments in there. We've got a projector screen already set-up inside there and I have multiple low-lag LCD/LED monitors plus many CRTs for older games. I don't know much about Kuririn. Found his short limbs and weird Chizuru/Hibiki/Makoto clones not for me. Spaming Kienzan is fun but Tenshinhan's Kikoho's are crazy. As for sinergy, I would say Yamcha and Tenshinhan work so well together that it looks like they were made this way. Dodonpa is great to follow combos from air to setup another Rogafufuken and that assist can also be great to extend combos after the volleyball or setup a Kikoho.

In a way, Yamcha has a hard time to do actual damage but builds meter like crazy and Tenshinhan can spend meter to hit really hard.

Yamcha always played the cool guy. He was after the main girl and had many great moves. That fight agains Tenshinhan sadly was his last time to shine since from that point onwards the powerlevel started scaling really hard in Goku favor. His episode in Super is one of the best. I'm kind of glad he wasn't in ToP since they treated Tenshinhan so poorly. The guy could kiai energy based attacks by just looking and tanked hits before the bald alien in spandex started doing that. At least if they got Trunks of something we wouldn't have a Kikoho spammer that didn't even got a single clean victory.

Tien's assist has a huge explosion that may be able to be used to make ambiguous high/low mixups with Krillin's special or left/right mixups with yamcha. Assist calls mostly seem to be best for setplay or pressure rather than just combo extensions and all three of those characters' assists fit right into that mold.

Yamcha is eternally my homeboy, and the fact he's so viable in FZ is sweet vindication.

Team human is actually some really good shit. The only issue is that Tien and Krillin are both meter hogs. Krillin needs to burn meter to actually do decent damage, and Tien just shits damage with it. On the upside, like the other user said, Yamcha is a really good battery and his assist is as beastly as Tien's.
