The monster AI is a step backwards in every way from earlier titles. The only good thing you can say about it is that it looks nice and they didn't bring back styles. They brought back hunter arts though but only for fucking ranged weapons.

No that is not an adequate answer to the question, Demon Souls is responsible for Dark Soul's popularity because it was very popular when it came out. So when Dark Souls released it already had an established base anticipating it's release and hyped it up, this is when people who didn't play Demon Souls decided to play it Journos are just hopping on a bandwagon very, very late by calling things like Dark Souls.
