I think VNs should be thought of as more like books than games, so I don't think there's anything wrong with them only having a singular path (books don't branch off, after all). I feel like a lot of VNs suffer more from having half-assed, poorly-written game over states just for the sake of having choices, when really a kinetic novel would be better.

I think I'm done coming to these threads every day. It's been a while since I've been a significant contributor, because I can't really think of anything to convert, and I don't really want to redo lots of my old stuff, and I don't play games that convert well to good, watchable content, and I don't see too much new stuff here that's really all that interesting.

So I think I'm done for a bit. I just want to let go of this compulsion to keep coming back to these threads for a while. I'm sure I'll miss a few gems here and there, but I really feel there must be something better out there to do with my time and attention.

Something I've thought of doing for a while is to just dump what I've made somewhere and be done with it. Holla Forums is neat, but just so slow. My view of imageboards are these lightning fast threads where everything is ephemeral and that is what gives it its charm. But this imageboard can also be considered a pseudo archive and host site since the activity is low enough you can safely leave a thread up and not worry about it becoming pruned anytime soon. I've already read everything I've wanted to read from the top 10 or so boards and on the ones further down the list I'm seeing posts that are months old. I guess it is just different posting styles and site cultures when it comes down to it. Either way I hope things continue the way they are besides 4chan and Holla Forums I can only think of a few other imageboards that still have some life to them. yeah it depends on what you're painting. You would typically paint detail work last, think of it as working from the inside out. So skin would be first, then any under clothing, then the armour etc so that way anything you fuck up on the "lower layer" you can fix on the next layer up. But yeah, if the paint is covering up the model detail, you have to thin it out because its going on way too thick.
