Have you forgotten Arcee, already? I get that, in the comics, all cybertronians were mono-gendered and she's a trannie, but, in the original G1 cartoon, she was just a naturally female autobot. Beast Wars also features naturally female cybertronians, and that's in the same timeline as G1. Blame the comics for having cybertronians originally being like namekians, rather than for introducing female ones.

It's the same lead writer as was under Archie, and he never had that stuff in those comics. He's also the guy that saved the comics from Penders's awful writing, in the first place. IDW's editors might be an issue, but SEGA was rather strict with Archie after Penders left, and I doubt that'll change for IDW.

From what I remember someone detailing when that issue of the IDW Transformers comic come out, there actually wasn't suppose to be any "female" Transformers even in G1. None of the people in charge saw the need for it, but they ended up adding Arcee later after some British feminist group complained about how all of the robots were "male" (Which, even then, didn't shut them up, and resulted in even more "complaints").

But I vaguely recall hearing the new artist talk about it in a interview I think it was SomecallmeJohnny interviewing Tyson Hesse during one of his charity streams but I can't recall it that was in fact the case.

So back when Simon Furman was writing the IDW comics, Transformers weren't gendered/sexed/whatever'd because they're robots that basically reproduce through bursting out of the planet. Then Jiaxus did science and turned Arcee into a girl which drove her crazy because would you want to be turned into a girl (don't answer that). Then later on this lore was thrown out because the fans voted for a new character, Windblade, and Hasbro has to shill their newest toys, so now there used to be female Transformers but they all left the planet or some shit. Ironically the "we got inspired by other species" idea makes more sense and fits better with canon, as well as patches over a continuity goof where a couple of classic female Transformers showed up in a group shot. It's still fucking retarded though because why should robots have to be anything like fleshlings, emputura is stupid and Whirl and Shockwave are just cool guys who look weird to us because they're alien robots. Transformers is crappy sci-fi and I could do so much more for that. At least let me make a Go Bot's comic, Hasbro, it's not like you're doing anything with it!

I seriously doubt it. Heroes felt like a sharp downgrade from Adventure 2, and almost nobody cared about it. I don't see what the point of remaking it with a new engine in the boost era would even be unless it was to make it a fundamentally different game.

I mostly want to play 06 again if that port fixes the loading. Even though it has a metric shit ton of flaws I still appreciate 06 for it's ambition. It was the only Sonic game to have 9 unique playable characters all in standard action stages, saving the gimmicks mostly for just for bonus missions

I find the Combat and leveling in Heroes to be really enjoyable. even if it wasn't that complex compared to the rest of the series Heroes combat has far more depth in how you approach enemies. (save for the werehog but i found the werehog to be unbearably slow.) Depending on who is leveled up that will change who you want to use for combat you will also want to strategize who you want to get leveled up at checkpoints, on top of that all the Team blasts having unique properties during the cool down was great.

Yeah, I guess I can see the appeal of that, but in my opinion, everything felt a lot worse to control than Adventure 2, so having the multiple options open didn't appeal to me much. It really put me off of the game as a whole, and I didn't just give it a passing shot, I nearly 100% completed it. Maybe I should give it another chance, since it's been so long.

I recently replayed the Adventure 1+2, Heroes, and Shadow the Hedgehog. I found myself repeatedly putting Heroes down in favor for Shadow the Hedgehog (with Japanese audio).
Heroes just feels off and it's not because of the team mechanic.

It wasn't based on any specific real-life event; it was simply good ol' Simon Furman doing what he did best, and trying to maintain a consistent universe in a comic where Hasbro / Marvel US were constantly pulling the rug out from under him.

It had been clear since the beginning that the Transformers were an alien, asexual species which didn't HAVE genders and were all referred to as "him" due to the limitations of the human language. Then suddenly, Arcee was a thing, Marvel was crowing "behold, the first FEMALE TRANSFORMER!", and nerds were demanding an explanation or trying to get no-prizes.

Furman came up with the absolutely perfect explanation that Arcee was built as a "female" transformer entirely as a PR stunt by the autobots to try and placate screeching feminists (who were not satisfied and just whined more.) It was brilliant.

The story still holds up well today, although in a modern retelling the ladies would need to gain about 200 pounds each to be realistic.

Oh fuck, if I didn't already know that it wasn't the case, I probably would have believed someone if they told me that this was how Sonic Boom was conceptualized.

I'm watching you. It's slippery like you said, but it's also slow, floaty, and places a heavier focus on combat, which most people didn't want. Controls are nearly everything in a Sonic game, so of course it gets criticized heavily.

It's also because of the tone of the game. The cutscenes and voices became completely obnoxious, rather than just dangerously campy. They dropped the serious tone and went back to the generic saturday morning cartoon tone, rather than trying to refine their attempts at seriousness. It's an understandable move, even though people really liked SA2's tone, but then they still decided to bring back Shadow. His reintroduction felt cheap, made his death in SA2 basically meaningless, and put the series in a weird place where there are still dark topics looming, even though the games weren't allowed to take them seriously enough for their own good anymore, which is what led to shit like Shadow The Hedgehog. Watching them trying to resolve Heroes' blunder in Shadow the Hedgehog's retarded story just felt like insult to injury rather than any kind of justification for Shadow's return. His role in Sonic Battle was the only positive to his resurrection.

I haven't seriously tried to play heroes in forever, but the one thing that I know kept me from finishing it. Was realizing I had to basically replay the game several times just to get the real ending.

Honestly, it's only Team Dark that makes it a slog, as all its levels are longer, harder versions of Team Sonic's. Team Rose's levels are both much shorter and easier than Team Sonic's. Team Chaotix varies the gameplay up by making you perform alternate objectives to beat the stages, though it can get frustrating if you miss something and have to loop through the stage again to find it, but they add warp points to the levels to help minimize that.

If you're just looking for the Super stuff, I think he debuts in issue #007 (alongside a Streets of Rage adaptation), then he appears irregularly, then there's an accidental power-up in the Floating Island's emerald chamber (some time after the Sonic 3 adaptation), and from there he becomes a major recurring villain until issue #100.

prdarkfox quit managing the site to go full furry and make his own comic, while Kajin got married and quit caring for the site. Everyone else just kind of faded, mostly due to outgrowing it. Half the main contributors are starving artists in their mid-to-late 20's by this point, maybe older.

I know Deebs still works on commission, Shinbs is dead, Xeric is homeless, GTF and t0ms0nic "quit", Cylent takes advantage of the autism. I don't know about anyone else's whereabouts.

Reminds me that the official Sega board and blog was neglected post 2014/Sonic Boom and it only intensified following their decision to switch their marketing and community interaction through Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, streams such as Twitch, etc. to the point where they had shut down the Forums this Hedgehog Day. Shame how the blogs were fun in a prototypical Sonic twitter sense which was where Aaron Webber/RubyEclipse first gained notoreity but arguably got even larger blowback since those were the Project Needlemouse->Sonic 4 days which sent everyone screaming at the top of their heads. Sega never really stopped making utterly boneheaded decisions as seen with Forces, recent use of Denuvo on their promised PC ports, less than ideal Sega Forever project, reluctance to still use anything other than a few core IPs rather than maintaining/reviving older ones, the upcoming Sonic movie supposedly still in the works, etc.

Does that include Tyson Hesse, the guy who not only did the Sonic Genesis line comic art but also the animations for Sonic Mania along with his waifu Mariel Cartwright? They're both pozzed. Even worse that Kalinske and Al Nielsen are the same way

Archie doesn't own shit. But Sega has no reason to use those characters. These comics exist to promote the games, and those characters were never in the games. To focus so heavily on them makes no sense. Archie only did it because of tradition. Now, with all the shit that caused, I'm sure Sega will discourage that.

Go read all the old Marvel comics. They're the only good ones. US, UK, G2, it's all good. Then Beast Wars and Beast Machines are good sequels and give you a nice ending. And if you're really starved for more, read the convention exclusive stuff. Much of it is prose, but it's still good if you're autistic enough to give a shit. The only problem is that the final story of this bunch leads into a crossover that requires you to watch Robots in Disguise and the Unicron Trilogy, which are shit. But you can just stop there. Transformers became shit as soon as they rebooted. I gotta get into the Japanese stuff next, but that's even more autistic, so it's gonna be quite an endeavor.

But it's not the playstyles from Adventure. Not even the ones from Adventure 2. It's just Sonic's/Shadow's playstyle, and the other two guys basically give you extra moves. Now don't get me wrong, Sonic and Shadow had the best style, but the level design and controls aren't as good, so it's still just a step down from Adventure 2.

Shadow the Hedgehog's story is great. Further explores the backstory of Adventure 2, and it's only darker than Adventure 2 if you want it to be, because somehow this is actually one of the best examples of morality having an effect on your story in a video game. So you can choose to be dark as fuck, or you can choose to be a hero. The overall story, told largely by revealing flashbacks which would thus be canon no matter what path you take, tries to teach Shadow to stop being an edgy faggot all the time. Most people keep saying this game is all about Shadow being an edgy faggot, but it's the exact opposite. He actually learns and develops into a legit cool stoic, non-edgy, badass with a heart of gold. But then the only game after this where he's relevant is '06, so nobody cares, even though he's actually really cool in that.

The only interesting part of Sonic Battle's story is saying that Maria had AIDS. It isn't worth playing the shit gameplay twice to get that secret scene, though.

In regards to your first pic, Archie married everybody in alternate timelines. It was how they got around having to make him actually choose between Betty and Veronica.

In regards to Riverdale, I watched the first episode, and it's way darker than you can imagine. The plot, I kid you not, is that Cheryl Blossom was having an incestuous relationship with her brother, and one night they're out fucking on a boat and he dies, so the show is solving the mystery of who killed him. The twist is that Archie saw everything, but he can't tell anybody because he was getting molested by Ms. Grundy at the time, and she told him that if he told anyone he'd get in trouble.

It's not the fun "Archie's Weird Mysteries" dark, it's not even Smallville or Arrow dark like you'd expect from CW. It's straight up "Archie got child molested by Ms. Grundy and she told him he'd get in trouble if he told anyone" dark.

I'm WAY more into Transformers than you, I know how fucking terrible everything is. My brother is even more autistic about it than me, and I literally have autism. I really should actually finish the Marvel run one of these days, I only read up until about the introduction of Headmasters as a kid. Maybe I should read Alignment too even if it's non-canonical. As for the Japanese stuff, I've heard Headmasters is okay, but I've heard a lot of good things about Super God Masterforce. Just try to ignore Kiss Players. Not because of the weird first arc, but the weird second arc where they try to sort out the fucked up Japanese timeline. Also, Animated is about as good as Beast Wars and I'll fight you if you say otherwise.

Honestly, spoke nothing but the truth there. The main purpose for the comics, in general (whether it be from America, Europe, even Australia), were to promote the games. For each time Archie tried to create their own story arc, they always had to coincide that with the current Sonic game's story, they were forever bind to do this. Additionally, the only reason as to why we had the Archie characters reference in Sonic Spinball, was because it was developed by American developers for Sonic Team (The STI, back when they were a thing.)
So whenever some fuck said during the time that Archie characters should be in a Sonic game, I was always like, end yourself.

Also, for the last reply, although I will give the CW Archie credit for being that dark, especially on modern day T.V. It still sucks lmao, can't stand it.
