Can't go wrong with a good spear. Something with range and a good mix of thrusting attacks for tight spaces and wide slashing attacks for keep away.
It's even better when the animations don't pin you to the ground so you can actually walk while attacking, and hold a shield while thrusting.

It's pretty good, but the game suffers from weapon saturation, so I rarely ended up using it. The Chicago Typewriter is my favourite of the conventional weapons but ammunition for it is scarce. Flamethrower is one of the better ones in a video game, and it's also OP.

The core issue of the game isn't their business practices (although that is a problem); the core issue is the poorly-designed heists. The game is just a boring grind of eternally moving bags. Payday 1 was vastly superior to 2 in this regard.

You have a pipe that is closed at one end and an explosive and bullet are loaded into the pipe. The explosive is ignited between the closed end of the pipe and the bullet, pushing the pipe back and the bullet forward. The bullet is pushed forward a lot more than the pipe is pushed back.
Modern guns are a lot more complex and have more moving parts things that add accuracy, make guns more comfortable to use, and quicker to reload but that's basically the gist of it.

CSS has always been considered the worst entry in the series. Source is fucking easy. Hitboxes are huge, there's no recoil, each gun feels like a rubber toy.

1.6 and GO requires skills.

There are more bunnyhopping servers in 1.6 than there are in CSS.

Ragdolls are just that, ragdolls. They drop dead as if their souls were just raptured into heaven, or as if they're robots and you pushed the 'OFF' button. It doesn't feel as good as the death animations in 1.6 where players fall over backwards legs in the air, combined with the blood decals flying everywhere after a satisfying headshot.

I never saw the appeal of a round based respawn system, it punishes risk taking with being forced to sit in spectate while the round plays out. I don't want to be rewarded for playing like an idiot, but optimal play in any shooter shouldn't be so sterile and slow.
There are better ways to incentivize survival than putting your players in "time out" for a few minutes. Insurgency's Skirmish mode has respawns, but death is still a big deal with a limited number of waves per team. Even in arena shooters, where respawns are instant and infinite, a huge part of winning comes from conversion frags and item control.

That's like comparing… something good to something else that is just as good. Yes, the headshot animation was fun and I recall a lot of people requesting it for cs:go back in the beta days. But the minimalistic way of dying in css also has something to it.

hell, even the ARs had their charms. The Rotten Mound was pretty shit but the KA has a nice solid crashing sound and does good damage with satisfying ragdolls when you headshot with it. The S6000 was a lot less good feeling, but it was still fun to use, as probably the best run-and-gun weapon in the game with a very effective autofire. Not entirely sure why it even bothers to come with a single-shot mode since the entire appeal of it is how fast it can put lead out, but whatever.

Personally I just wish that the sawed off shotgun wasn't a piece of trash.

Yeah, I haven't played in a long time but the new heists are pretty good. The builds I've been doing now are really strong, the Anarchist with Akimbo Grimms loaded with dragon's breath and GSPS 12G with buckshot is insanely broken even on OD, literally cannot die unless I try.

Most pros at this point agree that while the individual skill level in GO is significantly lower than in 1.6, the game offers more tactical oppurtunity due to the improved grenades and map design.

Dated design. It fits well for period games when it was the best shotgun platform you could get. But it is outclassed in every way by things like the Ithica, Mossberg, Remington and Benelli guns. it is better than the SPAS12 though :^).

It's actually not that bad as a weapon, most of the people that complain about it never shoot a gun in their life and think a rifle is bad because it hasn't picatinny rails and others things. The bad thing about the famas is just that it has some issues with certain types of ammunition, which is also the reason it gets replaced and it's very complicated to use for the ordinary soldier.

So does america. Remember when they wanted to replace the M16/M4 with the german made XM8 or the belgian made SCAR. Or when they replaced the M1911 with the italian made beretta m9 (F92) and now with german/swiss Sig Sauer P320.
