Bayonetta is coming out before E3. I imagine the other Platinum games (including hopefully a redo of Star Fox Zero without the motion control aiming shit) might get announced at E3 for holiday releases.

I think the main problem is the significant use of two screens at once. Most of the games that have been ported over to Switch used the second screen for minor functionality, if any at all. Both W101 and Star Fox Zero have gameplay going on both screens at once, SFZ more so. It's why Guard will probably never get a Switch release, because its designed around two screens.

The N64 was pretty bad, too. Nobody wanted to make games for it due to having carts (though I prefer carts to CDs, devs at the time had fallen for the FMV meme).

But it wasn't a failure. It didn't do as well as Nintendo would have liked, but it wasn't a failure. The N64's shelf life was 1996 - 2002/2003 depending on the region and sold almost 33m units. By contrast, the Virtual Boy only lasted from 1995 - 1996 selling just 770k units. (Which is actually much more than I thought. I could have sworn it only sold around 100-300k.)

They tried to always innovate, instead of maintaining whatever good ideas that were well received by Gamers. Even their established franchises got new versions that were too different from what most fans knew. Sometimes the changes were well received (Ocarina of Time), but most of the time, they became cult (as in small number of consumers) classics, or simply ignored.
When everything is new and nothing is familiar, most people will simply abandon it.

It was a failure in contrast to the PSX, which sold more than 3x as many units, and their previous two systems. If Nintendo had played their cards right for the 5th gen, they wouldn't have scared away several companies to Sony and SEGA. You have to consider the effects beyond just sales - nobody really trusted Ninty after the N64 had tarnished their image (similar to how SEGA killing off the Saturn prematurely ultimately did them in).

By that point Sony already won and Nintendo had no way of recovering, other than what they ended up doing.

Call me whatever but I actually felt pretty smug for buying a wiiu. I remember BOTW leaked online last year before it came out and Holla Forums got a hold of it, I got the files for it and felt pretty damn smug that I got to play the GOTY before almost everybody else, for free and without nintendos consent!

The wiiu may seem like a peice of junk, but when you give it a little hacking, you get the best nintendo console to ever come out!
