Finished watching The Skull Man a few nights back. Pretty good, but also gets pretty dark. Left wondering why Tokio is so uptight about official western releases being able to use their music. They refused to clear embed related, which is a shame because it's a catchy opening.

Nice to see someone else like Xillia 2, given how frequently "Tales after Vesperia are all garbage" gets tossed around (amongst other statements that the series was never good). Granted, after Vesperia there's definitely an issue with DLC and lack of an overworld, but still.

Just start eating a balanced diet and drink water. Are you under/over weight? Do you not eat much? Eat too much? Not enought fruits and veggies with meat? That will help with energy. To actually focus though takes practice. You have to find a way to get your feelings of something you like doing associated with pushing through something you don't care about. DS had a good library. You're missing out if you don't have a system that can handle one, or at the very least emulate. If you can find a decent flash cart it might be a worthwhile purchase to consider.

Anyhow, that leaves you open to a lot of the series, albeit for some of the games (Phantasia, Vesperia PS3, playing anything with an undub patch), you'll be needed CFW/modchips and/or a way to bypass region lock. And again, the big issue is whether or not you can handle sub-Vesperia level refinement in the combat of the older games. Regardless, Eternia and Symphonia are pretty enjoyable if you ask me (the former being the best 2D sprited Tales to be in English thus far), and while I've liked Abyss, it is very love it or hate it due to the cast. Graces f has pretty fun, rewarding combat with it's sole CC system, but the party ranges from very enjoyable to boring, and the story is a low point even for a Tales game. Very entertaining skits though, and the PS3 rerelease has an additional 10-20 hours of content. Xillia 2's a follow up to Xillia, and while I liked it it does make some questionable design choices. Haven't played Zestiria, but I was playing Berseria on a PS3 (CFW lets you play the JP version patched with the English script to avoid censorship) at my dad's last November and found it fun.

While the link system is indeed enjoyable, I do see it as a valid complaint that it harms potential for co-op, essentially taking the feasible maximum from four players down to two, as linked/slave characters have to be AI controlled. Weapon/arte switching in X2 with Ludger was pretty fun though. Played through .hack//G.U. some time after it, and I can see how Bamco might have taken some inspiration from the Adept Rogue's (IE: Haseo/the player's) Trigger Switch ability there when they went to make Xillia 2.

I don't know moon, so no. I have heard it's a very fun licensed game due to using the Hearts DS engine though.

As stated above, Abyss is love it or hate it. I like it a lot, but I can't recommend it as an entry point. Eternia, Symphonia, or Vesperia make for better ones if you ask me, though one needs to keep in mind that the series gets more refined and nuanced in combat as it's gone on, so for some, starting with the later games and going back to the earlier ones might prove difficult.

Tempest was a game that was received so badly, it caused the series to be split into "Mothership" and "Escort" designations to separate the main series from what were side games (note that not all side games in the series are considered bad; heard very good things about NDX and RM3, though neither are in English). Tempest does have a full fan-translation patch though, released as an intentional April Fools Joke. Apparently it didn't eat up too much time or effort on their end, due to being a shorter than average game, but still made for decent practice.

Unless you know moon, don't. Innocence R isn't in English at all, and Hearts R got 8-4ed HARD. Also none of the games before Symphonia (Chronicles, version, I might mention), are on the PSN either, so you can't officially buy the likes of Eternia and play it directly on your Vita (you might be able to dump an eboot for use with CFW though).

Kind of telling that it's been a few years since word of a new mothership Tales, beyond Namco saying they were making something for the Switch (which I assume will get an inevitable PS4 version down the line; JP fanbase likes their Tales on Sony).

Maybe because it was the first to have a native PS4 version? Could also be an issue with PC only having a small offering of Tales natively as well, being just Zestiria, a port of Symphonia HD which I hear was really badly done, and a censored version of Berseria (which at the very least probably killed a lot of interest from anons here).

I know how you feel as a Wild Arms fan. Seems like just a question of what older series/subseries will get reanimated onto mobile. At the very least Namco's said before that their main game will never be mobile exclusive; they tend to put escort titles (and a couple of main game ports) out for phones to try to bait JP phonefags into buying the actual games on consoles/handhelds after getting them into the series. Not sure how well that's gone, but they keep pumping out crossover mobileshit.

On a related note, I don't get why none of the Tales games before the PS3 have been given rereleases. I mean, obviously they're not going to put moon only ones out here in the west, and I think Legendia probably isn't considered a huge loss, but they could have at least put Destiny and Eternia on the NA PSN. Maybe Abyss too (I'm still not sure why they ported it to the 3DS). And Symphonia skates by with a digital version simply because it got a PS3 "HD" port anyhow.

Done some looking in the JP PSN and it doesn't seem like they have any of the older Tales available on the PSN either.

While not a remake, Phantasia has had that ToPX version that updates the combat fluidity to be more like Eternia, right? Not that it's in English a this point. Only main series Tales game that I'd say outright could use a remake is Legendia (OST needs to be left as is rather than remixed though, or provide players a choice between original/remixed audio).

If it wasn't for the JP PSN not having the older games on it either, I'd think that Namco just didn't see a market in the west for them to be digitally released besides Symphonia having had long standing popularity.

Double K was a great webcomic made by an idea /a/ and Holla Forums had to take the cast of TTGL and put them in a Miami Vice setting. Great style, legitimately hilarious, and a great source of reaction images. For whatever reason, the creator wound up stalling for a while, then all art pertaining to it on his DA got removed, his website went under, and he apparently refuses to speak of it on the rare chance he shows up with new art (and thus gets swarmed with question about where Double K).
