Elona thread

ITS THAT TIME AGAIN!
Yes, its that time again to get horribly addicted to tobacco for hundreds of turns, get endlessly killed by a pack of chaos hounds, get your house burned down by children, get deadly potions thrown at you by invisible assholes, autisticly sleep at 9 every night, and have a picnic with your little girl.
I lovingly uploaded both the game and custom to the vola for ease of use but I will dump the regular links as well.

Will be called 1.74fix elona custom INSTALL ME TO THE ELONA DIRECTORY
This brings about some quality of life changes and general improvements to the game as well as letting you customize things like pet AI, and teach them skills, makes it easier to feed them, highly recommended. I believe you just extract the game to the elona main folder and launch from the coffee cup icon. Made by some qt named annabannana and more recently taking up the torch a guy named bloodyshade.

A jap roguelike with an overworld and no permadeath. Can be played a ton of different ways like being a farmer who grows magic items as well as veggies, a piano player who get rocks thrown at him, or just be charismatic as fuck and have lots of pets, oh and there's some new necromancy shit that was added. There is a ton of shit to do in the game.
Can be a bit grind heavy once you get settled though. Join in on the fun!
If you are having issues running the game in windows, try compatibility mode for windows 7.

I'll be dumping some great info made by anons as well as some fan art here and there.

Okay, after trying out this game and getting into controls i have genuine questions.
How to stop fucking dying? Or am i supposed to grind XP by constantly dying? Also why guards in towns always kill me even when i am dead?

...

I'm in the middle of training an attack spider. May she become the next Demon King.

SHit man, whats your karma at? If its low the guard attacks you. Also you will eventually stop dying as you learn more, I burned through like 6 characters before I really hit my stride, You start losing xp at around level 10 when you die, but you gain xp for a ton of stuff like gardening.

I've been thinking about training up some random pet. I'm trying to kill the guy at the bottom of lesimas but I can't quite get him.

Last one info pic I believe.
Also for new players. I would recommend going to port Kapul and get the genemachine quest. It can be a pain to do but its easier to gene-engineer a pet thats a lower level than a higher one, and a pain in the ass to grind it out once they are like level 29.

...

Git gud. But honestly I wouldn't be able to tell why you're dying without more information. Constantly dying is really bad because it lowers your stats and I think your potentials too, I forget. You might be dying because your stats are fucked from dying too much. Guards should only be attacking you if your karma is low and dying should give you some karma back so it shouldn't be happening indefinitely. And what do you mean by "even when I am dead?" Try making a new character.

...

Started a new character recently. I don't have the motivation to play right now so have some younger sisters.

I've never been able to get into this, there's way too much thrown at you at once. Even the character start screen is fully loaded with bullshit.

Seems cool though.

...

Try it user. There is a lot but you can take it at your own pace.

it took me 5 minutes to get used to it then it took me 8 hours to stop playing afterwards

Elona sucks balls. That is all.

no u

Y-YOUR SHIT.
Does being another race besides the base ones do anything? Or is it really for a meme factor?

If you mean debug races, then yes.
Some start with more or less skills, armor slots and starting stats.
You still need to make custom sprites for them to make different though.

Tell me Holla Forums, why does everyone love Shena's ass?

It's the best

How do I live an easy life?
Become a farmer and travel straight to Yowyn?

Sure. Focus on farming and cooking, open up a food shop, open up a ranch and breed some animals whose meats/eggs give good attribute gain in case you change your mind and wanna go dungeon diving. Farming jobs can give quite a good payout if you've got the strength to go well above quota. Also you can always be a jew merchant on the side ferrying goods from city to city for some extra dosh, bandit encounters become trivial after you become strong enough.

Meme factor/roleplay factor is the main reason to play them. Debug races don't get racial feats so in the very long run they are worse choices no matter their stats. I made a Catsister anyway catsisters, why are they so cute?, she's fast as fuck but has worse life than a fairy and no innate resistances or DV boost to keep her safe.

Someone post the sprite sheets

I have one. Will do when I get home. Im suranother user has a more updated one

Bam, as promised.

Thank you

Im considering a chaos seed as a pet. I kinda wanna go with something different but have had a hard time deciding.

I forget what artist made a lot of these drawings. I remember some anons saying they nuked their shit though.

Has anyone been paying attention to that new game Noa's been making? Last I saw, it looked pretty similar to Elona but with a few new features.

why do I keep doing this

I've gotten at least three characters to around level 30-40 and this is my first time doing the part in the main quest where you get to level 16 of Lesmias. I always ended up ignoring the main quest, building farms, and grinding magic.

Last video update on it was 9 months ago so don't hold your breath.

Aww shit. Elona threads give me genuine happiness.
>find the , which puts you to near-death state and pacifies enemies

Bad idea.
You should train up first before taking up actual dungeon delving unless you're very sure of what character you made. Do jobs on the request boards, farm Plat and learn new skills. I usually only start doing dungeons once I've learned every skill I want from all trainers (not counting Guild ones). Sometimes even have a Shop or Museum before I set my feet in an actual dungeon.

Also, if by "random dungeon" you actually mean Lesimas or Puppy Cave, keep in mind that if you die, you can't retrieve your stuff. Don't go there unless you're sure you can survive.
Extra important: always have an escape plan. A rod or scroll of teleportation for instance. I often take the feat for teleportation for that very purpose.

Is there a changelog?

elona.wikia.com/wiki/Changelog_(Elona+)

I always rolled warrior and was getting board. Now I breath fire, or sound if I use variable breath. Throw a coin, and violently garden people to death. Who says that being a fighter is boring. I do have a magic user I'm going to fuck with after I beat lesimas.

Man, Elona has some cute girls.

...

Are the links in the OP recent? I cant find it

Now you've done it.

Just reuploaded to vola for you my little sweetpea.

Thanks fam

What's a good way to use a cute fairy pet? I thought they used bows but I guess not.

On investigation, I gave it a repeating bow and an arrow. Can cute fairies use repeating bows?

Yeah, they can. Sorry for spamming the thread.

You did it champ. The faster a pet is the more they can shoot. It also works in reverse to, wait until you meet a quickling archer.

Failing the basic job requests from the adventurer board makes me want to kill myself.

I met one, that's what started my whole adventure.

I want it! are easy and Harvest Times are too if you have a pet that can defend you while you pick.

Just getting back into this after two years.

What is Elona custom, and should I use it?

The requests that ask you for an item are usually easy enough to complete. You'll have rods, books and minerals at hand whenever you come back from exploring, always check the board to see if anyone needs them before selling them.
You can also buy a lot of those items from local vendors. If someone says he wants a Sun Crystal that someone else has, you can just get a different one from a General Shop.
And a lot of food can also be bought from the baker too.

Then there's the Harvest Time requests, which make it a skill that pays itself many times over.
You'll fail the few first but that's okay, they are still amazing oportunities to train Gardening.
Once it's high enough, you'll not only train it much further, you'll also be training your pet and several other skills like Weight Lifting.

There's also 3 types of escort missions.
The regular ones are just escort a dude somewhere and they pay decently. Very easy.
The "Something terrible has happened" are essentially the same thing (but I think you have a bit less time) and they pay a lot more.
The "Beauty and the Beast" however will always see you being ambushed on your journey. They don't pay that much more for the extra danger so I usually avoid them.

You have a bunch of deliveries too like Recycle or Sending a Gift, etc that, if you're going in that direction anyway, might as well take the item too.

Usually if you're grinding Plat, here's what you do.
You arrive in a town and complete all requests you can for items (check merchants for them if you don't have one, trading with NPCs isn't hard either).
Do Hunting missions you're confident you can do(stick with green ones first) then complete all the Harvest Time events as well.
After this, check the board for Escort and Delivery missions and pick the town you'll go next so you can complete the most missions from there.
Remember that every 5 Charisma is another follower you can bring, so every Engagement Ring or Amulet is another Escort mission you can do simultaneously.

Elona+ with english translation and some extras.
Yes.

Yeah they're really cute.

Can anyone explain about gene engineering and evolution in layman's term. I already have the gene machine and potion of evolution in my house

...

It sacrifices a pet to give skills, body parts, and experience to another. The skills depend on the donor race and if the recipient already has them they won't get any new skills. Body parts depend on both races. I don't know specifics but it's good for giving slots to horses or other pets that start with only a few slots. You might need to play around to find a donor pet if you want to add body parts. For example the slaves from Derphy couldn't add anything to my horse but rabbits could. Those two are the most important since you can't get them anywhere else but it's also good for leveling up pets. If the donor is a higher level the recipient will be the average of their levels. It will also increase attributes if they're higher. I don't know if it affects skill levels too. When choosing the donor it will tell you what skills and body parts will transfer, if any.
Potions of evolution have nothing to do with gene machines. They just give you positive mutations.

So i had to kill of one of my pet as a donor? Most of my pets are humanoid slaves from derphy, not gonna mess around much with them because they are my main army. I have a wing snail in my ranch that produces shades though maybe i can fiddle with them. Is there a way to deposit my pet somewhere without losing them?

If you have free pet slots you can buy more from Derphy to use as donors or use whatever your ranch makes. I think pets still count against your limit when you send the to wait at town or assign them to a job so if you're at the limit and you don't want to sacrifice one you might need to wait for your next 5 charisma to do anything with gene engineering.

If you have a free pet slot you can just but doners in derphy.
Its worth it, I dropped a pic of skills gained by gene engineering in the pics above, use that as a guide.

Can these be reuploaded for my shitty late self please?

Nevermind, the custom of 1.75 is actually out now, check the wiki discussion.

Scratch that, it's the development version, rather than the finished/polished one. Sorry for multi posting.

the snail and the whip from the collage

Anyone still have the screencap where the maid suggests naming the player's house "Virgin Loser Shack"?

Re reuploaded
Check the vola

Thanks a bunch.

more than likely you're not using elona plus and not getting at least a few levels in the puppy cave.

Base elona has a fucked starting experience.

Holy shit I love skill tickets.
This helps thw grind a lot.

You only get 10 of them. It also helps the grind that new skills max out at 15 platinum. Elona+ feels really casualized.

It is a bit, but the grind was just a grind. I'm a teensy bit sad its gone but I dont miss it

I have a question about breeding shades:
I've got a wing snail at my ranch to breed shades, is there any easy way to see what monster a shade is imitating besides looking at the milk/shit/eggs on the ground? I'm trying to gene engineer some arms on my mitra for armor but I don't wanna waste a good monster after randomly gene splicing monsters onto it.

Not really, but you can try squeeze action on them to see it faster.

1.75 and 1.75.1 custom are out btw

you can get them here

I think OP or whoever threw them up on vola because the links on the wiki weren't updated yet

Thank you user, so I just copy the files from custom 1.75.1 onto the 1.75 jap download files?

Yes, then just make sure you start the game from the ElonaC.exe instead of the original one. Also remember that the loli is the only acceptable starting pet

Checked and thank you user, you're a bro. Damn right about loli's too.

Remember to feed her and give her plenty of headpats. Once she likes you enough she might even cook a delicious meal of human flesh for you

Wait until she falls into a well and cries out for you to safe her.

Better than being cucked by an alien

It's so hard for me to get back into the game after my huge binge when I first played it so long ago. I haven't played despite mayor updates.

I likely took that but I can't find it. I take a lot of screencaps and my image folders are cluttered with anime shit. I likely deleted it.

...

Oh well, I might've been thinking of a similar name.

...

Finally got around to playing this game, was surprised at the customisation options. Are there any nice packs for sprites, portraits or text blurbs?

I never had luck getting into this…is there any guides on how to do this properly or good tips for a scrub at roguelikes?
My favourite part so far has been to reroll the names of shit in character creation, pretty damn funny some of the things that coems up

There were tone-files floating around for different god-pets you could get, you might be able to find them on elonaup. For sprites and stuff, there's a guide on the wiki elona.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:18329 here but essentially you're just going to take images like related and transform them into 128 by 192 bmp 24 "do not save color space data" format, assign them a name in your folders and then use them in custom sprite things. To use textfiles you just transport them into your talk folder and you can choose to use them on whichever character you you have a menu for, being companions. There are also differences between static sprites and PCCs, PCCs being your own character model and things like it, which you can modify with addons and stuff.

I should mention, for different sprites you use different dimensions. PCCs use 128x192, portraits use 80 x 112 and you have to put them in user>graphic folder and shit like that. There's other cool stuff in graphic 2, which change depending on emotions and special characteristics but there hasn't been a savant privy enough to that yet to really go all out with making waifus. I tried my hand before, but after making some tone files here I realized I'm pretty shit at even just writing.
The modability is nuts, though.

I open Elona+ on that cup exe file, and a tiny window pops up, closes and that's all. How fix. Pls rspond

Are you using the correct version?

I just downloaded the file in this post and extracted it.
Did I miss a step or do I need to download and install Elona and drag the files into that folder instead? Where can I get the right Elona if that's the case?

Click and fill out all the red shit in images related, and then download your version's custom edit from this distribution index bloodyshade.no-ip.org:42333/ElonaCustom/Elona Custom/ for elonaC, and paste the contents of it into the main elona directory of your version.

What site is that?
Your link leads to this. I apologise for being obtuse :^)

Ah, I figured it out. Thank you very much
user!

That site's the actual site used to upload the latest versions, linked in the op, though that's for 1.74.
axfc.net/u/3878610.zip is 1.75.
what the fuck is this
are you a newfag? Is that why you're having difficulty? fuck, I just spoonfed a newfag.

It works, bless you

Thanks a bunch. Tried out the bigger portraits with Mitsuru from P3 (since her portrait was just the right height), looks pretty nice.

Coming from someone who only properly got into it a few days ago (I tried nearly 2 years ago and didn't get anywhere after the tutorial), best thing is to just take it somewhat slowly at first and check online for anything you're not sure of - and there will be a lot of these things.

Do a few of the quests from the job boards in the first town - the hunting ones are a bit much unless you have a pet with you, but they're okay for money. If you do die, during a quest or not, you don't get any major repercussions before level 10 (all you'll lose is a bit of gold and some "potential", which is just the conversion rate on exp to stats and can be raised again easily), so don't worry too much about it - by the time you reach that level you'll be familiar enough to survive and will have a decent enough character to probably know how you're going to fight in combat. The game does have it's difficult moments, but it's generally one of those where sometimes you just have to cut your losses for a place that you're unprepared for, until you reach a point where you always have a few backup plans.

Honestly user, I'm pretty damn hooked now, all it takes is for you to start feeling your way around things and you start to see the amount of content and ways to play somehow jammed into this.

PS, taking the Dimensional Move feat when you create your character is probably one of the best things you can do for an inexperienced player, it's saved my ass so many times by now.

Has anybody tried the necromancy stuff and how good is it as an idea to have some extra pets beyond your charisma? Like, for example, I want a lich since I'd like a spellcasting focus for one of my pets. Would making a necromancy lich be worth it? Can you evolve creatures created through a necromancy coffin? Would I just be better off taming a regular lich in the wild? Also what are some good magic-focused pets?

I was under the impression necromancy was still limited by your charisma, did that change?

The wiki page doesn't seem to say anything about it so I was under the impression it wasn't dependent on charisma. Like I said I've never tried it so I could be wrong

i need to get off tobacco

I found a bunch of necro coffin from the grave near the lake city and used them: a bunch of cats come out and I was beyond my pet limit.

Too bad I lost 2 of them when I died to a shouting dog in the main quest dungeon

The cats are the lowest level necromancy pets. They're pretty easy to make if you can manage to find logs to make coffins. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any and I've scavenged a shit ton in dungeons

What the fuck, is she gone forever?

You cam make logs by chopping trees.

Head to the bar, she will be drinking away her sorrows.
Its the regular guy who calls back your pets.

I found him just before I read this, it's not wrong to want her to be safe right? Last time I played some little peepee enemy fucking destroyed her.

If your pets die bartenders (the guy you just found) will revive them for a fee.

Holy fuck, I wish I knew that, that's what made me drop the game last time.

Don't worry user, thats what we are here for. You will be enjoying little sister cheese while picking rods of wishing in no time.

I forgot how out there this game can get.

If that's what made you drop it before I can guess the next thing that will cause you grief is stat gains slowing to a halt. Food's fucking important, for you and your pets, it uses your potentials to raise attributes, and in rare cases will also raise potentials as well.
First thing you want to do after getting a few levels is go to the sea town and start the quest for the gene machine, you can turn the filled balls, don't use them as they aren't reusable, in one at a time if need be as they're fairly heavy. Once you get the machine get one pet cooking from another pet, pets with cooking will cook for you in the mornings, the higher their cooking the more potential you'll gain from eating their breakfast so you only want one pet to do the cooking so that they'll be the only one leveling it.
For cooking food the tool you use to cook matters a lot. Higher tier tools make cooking higher tier meals easier, and higher tier meals means higher gains. Early game I like to cook on at least a food processor, or the grills in Party Time! quests the grills are better and once you have some levels in you'll be able to kill easy NPCs in them to harvest drops and corpses for more cooking.
Sleeping is also important, when sleeping you gain potential based off the tier of bed you slept in, the amount you've leveled since last sleep, and some RNG. Palimia's king's bed isd the best for early game.
Now that you're still growing your and your pet's stats you'll want to keep away from more difficult monsters. The higher your fame the more more higher leveled monsters will show up in quests and dungeons. The best way I've found to lower fame is to fail quests, being a farmer I choose Party Time!'s to fail as I can't do them anyways and I can spend my time cooking and killing the NPCs in them while I wait for the timer to expire.

tl;dr cook, get gene machine, sleep, fail party times.

I'm pretty new to Elona+ and am enjoying it, but I've been playing on Loss mode. Is this game made for that gameplay, or is it better to play with respawn? A lot of people seem to play it without the permadeath.

Don't do permadeath, it isn't made for it.

Elona really isn't made with permadeath in mind.

Once you get enough cash, investing in magic shops and getting potions of potential is what you need to do next. It skyrockets your stats but is expensive as hell. You also need to bless them so you need a way to get holy water.
The best way to raise your pet's potential is to gene engineer pickpocketing onto them. They can now steal gold from anyone they kill and use that gold to train potential. And they'll do this without you telling them to which is great.

Large picnic baskets give attribute potential too don't they? I'm grinding tailoring just so I can make some and so I can reliably make panties

While my cooking is low, should I buy food from bakers, etc., instead of the from the innkeepers?

Picking nuts up off the ground is a good source of food in the beginning, but you really should start trying to get your fishing and cooking skills up. Anatomy too but the only way you get that is by killing shit

Just started playing properly and getting used to the controls by doing the escort quest things, but what should I be buying at the start with my money? Should it just be gear or should I get stuff like cooking tools and sleeping bags? Is normal rain dangerous to travel in?

Focus on getting a decent set of gear for yourself, pass down anything you replace to your little girl, and work toward upgrading all your gear to +3. Sleeping bags are shit to sleep in, find a decent bed and use inferior material scrolls to turn it into paper so you can carry it around without being burdened.
No, only hard rain makes you blinded/confused. Also there's the obvious ether wind but you should already know what to do when that rolls around, I hope

Thanks, although I haven't any clue what a decent set of gear is, right now I have what is in the picture after starting with plain bronze stuff. I'll carry on escort questing and what's in palmeria town. Yeah if the evil wind shows up I head to a shelter in town I think. No idea what to do if it happens when I'm in between towns though.

I'm not going to lie, I often find muself overwhelmed with gear. I focus on finding a set I like with some good resists and then making the material better through scrolls.

Thanks, any idea what are good resists? I've only really seen against cold/darkness and sound so far.

You can give them money by filling up a kitty bank and smashing it near them or by buying up ores and giving them to the pet.

Cargo food doesn't give stat potential. You don't have to go out of your way to eat real food but it does help a little I guess.

You should probably pick what skills you're gonna focus on and get gear for them first.
For instance, if you're gonna use Staves and Firearms, get something to train those skills, no matter how bad they are.
Armor's the same, try and get all slots filled and then adjust weight so you're using the skill of your choice.

After that, I'd probably focus on getting some "survival gear" but that's usually the kind of stuff you can even find on the ground.
Cooking tools for cooking-on-the-go until you can carry heavier stuff, a torch, lockpicks, the freezer box, a sheepbed, some blankets, etc.

Rain's only issue is probably that it makes everyone Wet. This means less fire damage but more electrical damage, so keep that in mind if you can use elemental damage in some form.

What about the sheepbed? Isn't that actually pretty good too? It's much lighter than beds and you can carry it around easily.

Gear works a bit like this:
You have a base type of gear and the material it's made of.
The base type gives the item a specific property, for instance Kitchen Knives give you bonus to Anatomy while Daggers improve your Lockpicking (I think)
Meanwhile, the material it's made off gives it additional properties. Stuff made out of Glass for instance boosts your Speed and if it's made of Coral it gives you Fire Resistance.
The materials also have tiers and the base status for the weapon\armor you're using are based on that too.
Finnaly there's artifacts that are basically the same but with a fancy name and a lot more extra magical effects.

Why would you do this when pickpicketing gives them more gold? My black cat has superb potential permenantly and I haven't given him a single coin.

Magic is the best if you can get it, it add a small part of itself to every other resist. Good idea to get fire to prevent your stuff from burning, and you need it for the tower of fire dungeon. Cold to prevent your potions from shattering.

Head into the local map and use a scroll of return, always carry some with you.

Any particular skills I should be using points on? Should I train that skill's potential with a trainer before using the points?

Using those points also adds potential. Used to be that people kept the points and spent them to raise potential when the plat cost got too high. Dunno if people still do that now that plat costs have been lowered.

Yeah sleep sheeps are pretty good if you can find them early on. Everyone's goal should be a happy bed though, they actually drop more often than you'd think or than the drop chance on the wiki would have you think

Thanks will buy some scrolls right away.

Thanks. I don't have any weapon or armour skills yet so I guess I'll figure it out as I go along. Will try to get a torch bed and freezer thing if I can.

Remember to buy every single skill you can buy as early as you can even if you think you're not going to use it

Will do, haven't bought any yet.

Look to getting traveling and swimming first, they're really useful skills, traveling especially

Gat gardening now, easiest way to farm plats.

Seriously doubt it as everyone starts with a crap load of them, just press C then right a few times to check your skills and you'll see them there. There's multiple pages to navigate too.

Forgot about 2 tools: the stetoscope and the leash.
The first one lets you see the health and charge bar of a mob, you want to use this on your pets. Just have to use it once and it's on permanently. It also colors their health bar blue when they are hungry if you feel like sharing food.

The Leash makes a mob stay close to you and even teleport near you if you move too far away. It's usefull to keep your party tight, especially since, when you teleport, everyone else will arrive the next turn. Also a toggle you can use once to activate.

The Freezer Box isn't for sale. There's a boy in one house in Vernis that gives you a quest to get his dog from the Puppy Cave.
Prepare to rage like a motherfucker because the fucking dog is only found at the bottom of a dungeon that is always different when you switch floors and the fucker is suicidal too. Plus, you can escape magically, you actually have to walk all the way out.

But after that, you can carry corpses and other food inside the Freezer without it rotting, good to cook food with better stuff than your Cooking Tools or to bring corpses to altars for sacrificing.

This. Gardening is a skill that pays itself tenfold, plus a farm and a Juicer are literally liquid potential.

Will do need more plat first it seems found my skills also they're just basic stuff for starting as a Jure warrior like negotation armours and stuff.

Don't bother with the freezer yet, the quest has can be incredibly frustrating and possibly impossible if you have enough pets and a low enough charisma.
Just stick to food that doesn't rot like bread or candy. There's a fruit tree in every city so you can always bash it for free fruit. Cooked noodles can last a week so is a good food item to get.

Do you have to do something besides wear something to equip it?

No, that's all equipping is. Is an equipped item not working?

I was trying to use the bow and arrow in the tutorial and it said I needed to equip it though I was already wearing it as well as the arrows.

You press F to attack with ranged weapons.
You just need to have a ranged weapon equipped and the right ammo as well if it's needed. Unless you're playing vanilla Elona (why would you?) where you can fire energy cells with your crossbow, for instance.

Bows need arrows, Crossbows need bolts, Guns need Bullets, Laser guns need Energy Cells (but I think Bullets and Energy Cells are actually interchangeable) and Throwing weapons like rocks and shurikens don't need any ammo.

Also usefull, you can press * on the NUMPAD to enter a targetting mode.
It lets you hover the cursor (not the mouse) over an oponent and see the odds of winning, it's level and name.
You can also press Enter and you're now targetting that guy.
This is usefull to pick the target of your ranged weapons but also helps with spells and magical rods too.

If you're going with ranged weapons, keep in mind that Throwing is also used when you toss potions at someone to see if you actually hit the target (otherwise it falls nearby) and throwing potions also trains Alchemy plus there are some craftable throwing weapons.
This means that, while it might seem like you do less damage than using real ranged weapons, you're training 2 skills and tossing special effects every now and then.

You can leash the dog, makes him a little less suicidal. It still took me three tries at level 20.

Is there better support for sexing your pets or do I still have to replace the fireball sound effect with an ejaculation one?

Is there a reason why NPCs keep saying "I don't know that boy" whenever I try to prostitute myself?

they're out of shekels

Probably dumb question but how the hell do you open safes or use a forge and can you fix the broken swords or smelt ore?

You can open safes by pressing O for opening stuff while you're standing on top of them.
Most safes are locked and you'll need lockpicks in your inventory and it may fail if your lockpicking skill isn't good enough.

I don't know about any forge and I don't think you can use one.
There are things like carpenter tools and the like but I don't remenber any forge.

Assuming you mean the trash item you find traveling around, no. It's trash.
However you can use them in a Pot of Fusion to craft special swords that are great for throwing. I get the idea it's a reference to some animu.

Nope. Ore is for selling, giving your pets so they can sell it, sacrificing it on an altar to please Opathos, use it on requests by people that ask for them or craft in Pot of Fusion for bigger shiny ore that sells for more.

You can also press enter to open the menu for the default action for whatever you're standing on, which for safes is open.

Thanks

Am I blind?

1.75 is out. These pages on the wiki have download links.
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:27625
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:25014

I had the same problem, see this post for what to do
Pretty much you stick 1.75 in a folder then drag and merge the contents from 1.75.1 onto it, then open the game with the ElonaC.exe

Is there someone actively translating? Still seems like theres a ton missing.

Did you install the custom file from here?
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:25014

Does that complete the translations?

Sorry this is untranslated sentence

A good amount

I ask because I tried to go to that adventurers conference area and a good deal wasnt translated.

Unrelated note, how do you cure disease and where should I go during the magic storm that causes it?

Ether diseases can only be cured by potions of cure corruption. As of the newest version they're a lot easier to come by randomly, but the most reliable way to get them at the beginning is playing blackjack. Go to Palmia(there are other towns with casinos but I don't remember which ones). You need to win 4 hands of blackjacks for a guaranteed potion. When the etherwind starts, go to the inn in any town and ask to enter the shelter. Time goes faster in the shelter so use the training machine or read the book that's down there to pass time. You can also buy your own shelters that you can place anywhere.

I believe the school was only added a few versions ago so no one has gotten around to translating it.

Neato, Probably last question, is there a key for equipping my QT with armor and weapons?

Stand next to loli, hit i, hit the direction that your loli is in.

Thanks user

(fucking checked)
You can also use this to give her food, potions and scrolls. Just keep in mind that any consumable you give her or any other pet they WILL use, so you can't really use pets as packmules.

If you want to hug or headpat your loli: stand next to her, hit a for skills, choose squeeze or rub and then point to your loli.

Reminder that Yacatect is best sister.

Also, here's a sprite I made, hoping to use it as a character icon before I realized that requires a lot more complexity than just tossing in one image.

Can you have more than one ranch at a time? Do pets left at the ranch take up party member slots?

Fake and gay, not a real orgasm

Just finished creating my character, don't even understand how to pick up the gold bar in the tutorial.
Pressing space just makes me search the area.
Pressing z and then Interact below me doesn't work.

g key to pick u stuff off the ground
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Controls

Oh, thanks. Don't think it even mentioned the g key having a function as of yet. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

The tutorial is shit, the only reason to go through it is for the free shit it gives you. It barely tells you how to play the game at all and teaches you shit that you probably won't even be using for a while. Look over the wiki page for the controls. If you want a good video tutorial series, embed related is how I learned how to play

You can have multiple ranches. I don't think ranchers take up slots but I'm not sure. They don't show up on the list for bartenders or call familiar.

Thanks, I'll probably check it out after playing a bit more just to get a feel for the game.
I've already managed to kill my first NPC. Why is walking into NPC's both attacking and conversing?

By default moving into npcs talks to them and you only attack once they're already hostile. Did you change the setting?

I think I "bumped" into an NPC that had no other place to relocate so he took damage, then my newly acquired loli proceeded to murder the poor miner in broad daylight.

Are you sure you didn't do something to provoke them like bash them or shoot at them? Walking into npcs that don't have dialogue like miners should just swap places with them.

Maybe I hit space in an attempt to talk, would that result in a bash? I know I didn't hit B.

Holy cunt fuck slimes. Do they have some sort of weakness?

What's the best god pet? Also I'm running everything in win7 compatibility mode (on win8.1) and I still get pic related every so often, do I have to just deal with it?

if you're talking about the quest in Vernis, stand behind a putit in that long corridor and range attack the slime so it doesn't melt your weapons/armour/loli

Run in compatibility mode for windows 7.

The blue niggers already melted my primary weapon. Im down to the last one finally and it just wont die.

Oh fuck me, I didn't read your comment, I just saw the picture. It happens to me if I leave the game running without touching anything for like 5 minutes, I also tend to wait before hitting the new releases.

don't forget to or firebreath if you have it. Or let a pet build up its gauge release. Throw potions/rocks/swords. I believe it can melt in its own acid if it makes a puddle of it.

Ranged attacks keep you pretty safe from slimes. Your pets' equipment will probably suffer if you decide to bring them though.

Black angel is qt and sanic fast

Also forgot to mention that she bullies your enemies to dim them

Smug angel da best

Don't allow them to get too close to you.

You will get/want them all anyway.
Pick fairy from Harvest goddess(male) for seeds or Golden goose from (((older sister))) goddess for plat coins first though.

What are the requirements to preach again? i have 11 faith and am under jure but my little girl has 5 faith. Is that why i can't preach?

Have you leveled up since hitting the faith requirement? I think new special actions don't show up until you level.

I have not, hopefully it sows up at lv 10.

Looks like you have to level up after all, at least I can preach now.

Fucking dragon spawned in the truce ground and fried two altars. Is there a way to get them back besides cheating?

Hostile monsters spawn at the truce ground now? Please tell me you didn't do something stupid like read a spell book there

I'm not sure what happened, I walked in and there was a firedrake attacking the wolves.

Maybe there is some way to replace those, but if I were you I'd savescum and hope I was lucky enough to kill the thing before it destroyed shit.

Leave the map and hold backspace before re-entering. It will pop up a message, say yes and it will refresh the map. I dunno if you would consider that cheating but that's the easiest way.

Altars spawn in dungeons very rarely. Plus they have a random god or no god at all. It would probably take a while to find one if you aren't lucky. Good news is that bottom altar was Jure who you can convert to in December at Noyel.

Wonder why so many artists delete their pixiv accounts. There are so much pictures I didn't save and will never see again. Like the first picture in is supposed to be part of a set that has the golden knight, exile, cute fairy, and that faggot who wants the Books of Rachel.
Sucks since good fanart of Elona doesn't come out too often.

That sucks. I'm honestly always surprised at the sheer amount of fan art for this game despite it being pretty obscure

I don't really get it either but I suspect it's a privacy thing. If they want to change pseudonyms or get away from something, they really want to be sure nobody can find their stuff ever again.

Same. Something about Elona captures the imagination.

Maybe since it's their work, they see all the flaws and don't consider the world worse off if it's lost forever.

Wonder how popular Elona is in Nipland. Some of the Elin videos have view counts in the ten thousands. If only this game had even a tenth of Touhou's love.

Either way it's a damn shame.

It's hardly cheating to reset the truce ground of all places, thanks for the tip.

Is anyone aware of what the "Anniversary" date that shows up when speaking to your pet actually refers to? I can't seem to find anything online about it, and I'm unsure if it's supposed to be when you allied with them, or proposed, or used evochat and so on. I also gave them an engagement ring without thinking it'd actually be treated like a real engagement ring (just assumed it was a generic ring name) so perhaps it's related to that?

Just tested it and "anniversary" is the date you recruited them.

Oh, fair enough! Thanks user.

Is losing weight - or caring about your weight in general - going to have any effect?

Nope.

Im almost afraid to fail another quest. Is the gathering crops quest like the hunting ones in that you are taken to an area to gather the crops?

Yes, you're transported to an area for the quest. Don't be afraid of failing quests, you'll still get skill gains from the shit that you do during them. Just make sure you keep an eye on your karma to make sure it doesn't get too far into the negative or else guards will start attacking you. If it gets too low from too many quest fails, try finding lost luggage cases and turn them in to guards for lotsa karma. Also the harvest time quests are great to do at first. You'll fail them A LOT in the beginning, but you'll get great weight lifting gains.

Neato, also whats all this about god pets?

Why have you fags been posting the vola in the last couple OPs when
bloodyshade.no-ip.org:42333/ElonaCustom/
is pretty much always up to date with Elona+ as well as custom builds? It also has a bunch of other stuff I haven't looked into myself.

When you start the game you worship Eyth of Infidel, which is basically a god with no benefits at all. You need to go to the Truce Ground and pick a god to worship. When you sacrifice enough corpses or the god's preferred item, you can pray and receive gifts from the god. The first gift is a unique pet, and all of them are pretty decent and come with their own benefits, which is why a lot of people work toward collecting all of them. I believe the max god pets you can have is dependent on your faith skill on top of your max pets dependent on your charisma. Basically, just pick a god and start offering shit and you too can have a party of adorable angels and goose-girls.

Ayy, didn't know that. Will add to OP next time.

Hey man, I posted it here
when explaining things to newfags. Axfc isn't hard to navigate either, with my directions.

Aforementioned shitpost and guide to axfc as well in linked post.

How do you offer corpses? I actually found an alter to the god of luck and ended up going to him and got a nine god sign. Does it have to do with that item?

I just skimmed through the thread and missed your post. Regardless, it would be beneficial to add to the OP instead of using the vola.

Neato

Hit the O (capital O) key to (O)ffer. You can offer corpses to any god(rotten or not doesn't matter) and to the luck god his preferred offering is fish. You can use the nine god sign to see how much favor you have with your god and what your prayer charge is at. You get the god pet at 1525 favor so you'll need 15 faith skill before you can get it.

Is there somewhere to find or buy an alter for my house?

You can pick up any altar you find but they're heavy as fuck

Cure corruption potions aren't taking away my ether wind disease symptoms what could be causing this?

I've tried consuming regular and blessed and it does nothing.

shit, I've been consuming cure mutation whoops

Not true, you can't pick up most altars even if you can carry them. You might be able to steal them, but to do so your strength would have to be at least 1000 and I've never had the chance to test it.

There are a couple of altars that can be picked up without stealing. Primarily the ones in the main quest (act 1) dungeons. Randomly spawned altars are still not allowed but those fixed ones are. Another option is to wish for altar.

Also, worth noting that once you manage to pick an altar up you can use Scrolls of Flight to reduce the weight. If you have enough scrolls you could make an altar light enough to carry indefinitely. That would take around 20-30 blessed scrolls

Or just train weight lifting and pray to Opatos so you can carry everything.

What the fuck is with this game? Its such a pain in the ass to get into and so hard to stop.

i fel ur payne

What, do you stay back and let your loli fight for you?

The best part is when you play too long in one sitting it cheers on, then shows concern, then pretty much laughs at you.

At one point my Gene Engineering and Dominate spell were so high-leveled my pets were ~100 levels higher than me.

i don't mean to, she just likes to fucking run off and murder shit

Just use a leash to make sure she doesn't run off too far

is there a hiatus in the manga? my source for scanlations stopped uploading new stuff

chapter 44 just came out

Starting a new character after mucking my first one up,. Doing a Jure warrior again but could use a little advice. What kind of armour should I go for, heavy, medium, light? Is it okay to mix types for resists or should I stick to one? Also what should I equip my little girl with weapon and armour wise?

for what purpose

the only reason to ever start a new character if you want to rush skill completion or if you finished the game

I messed up and got a bunch of etherwind curses, also I took really shitty feats to start with. I wasn't far in at all really.

If you want to be a mage you should use light armor since medium and heavy get a casting penalty. Other than that I think the only difference is the bonus you get from the corresponding skill. Individual pieces don't count as light, medium, or heavy, instead it only depends on your total equip weight with cutoffs at 15s and 35s. The bonus is only 1PV per skill level so if you find good equipment that puts you in a different weight class then you might want to use it anyway. I think armor skills you aren't using will still get trained from traveling so they won't lag too far behind.

Ah thank you, the equipment weight thing I had no idea on. I'm not going caster yet I don't think for some time too.

There's a good reason to be at medium equipment weight as a mage though. Beating Act 1 gives you a skill that greatly increases your casting strength if you're at medium weight. You'll never be at 100% cast chance but with the warmage class, maximum casting chance increases to 97% from 92%.

Being a magician is fun.

i can't wear cloaks what happun?

You might've grown wings after being exposed to etherwind. They get in the way of wearing cloaks, and now you gotta get a cure corruption potion to use 'em again.
On the bright side, you can carry more as a result?

My man, you need contingency or the mana barrier.

You might have an Ether disease. Press shift+f and look around.

Is burning in hell fun too?

How am I supposed to fight Hungry Demons early in the game? They come randomly on the easiest quests and first room in the Puppy Cave. I miss all my attacks and then get 1 shot. Managed to kill one once because RNG was on my side and I actually got some ranged hits in.
I'm playing an Archer but I can't outrun them so my only option is to focus fire them the moment I can.

Does Burden have a negative impact or is it simply warning you of soon not being able to carry more stuff? I know my weightlifting gets lvled if I'm frequently burdened.
I initially thought about making a magic user, but it felt like it would be harder and less straight forward. Is that true? I tend to prefer magic and I'm tempted to make a new character .

pick up a magic rod of fire or something specifically for them, or learn magic dart since magic attacks have perfect accuracy.

Burden slows you. Check your speed on the carry sheet. However, having burden means you're training weight lifting, which lets you carry more shit eventually. Doesn't count with cargo weight, as you have to use bronze coins at the dwarf workshop to increase that.

Only with magic, everything else is unreliable.
Magic dart or any single target spell with 100% casting chance.
Rods work
It just slows you.
Just don't exceed your max weight limit, exceeding it can kill you.
Multiple Feather spells scrolls will help you in taking heavier items more easily.
Yes, you need good supply of spellbooks or one specific ether disease to gain spellstock from picked up rods.

Thanks, I do have a bunch of rods and the identified one is Magic Missiles. How can I tell anything about the spell other than its name? Is it another one of those things that will start popping up once I use it more?
What's generally the best way to go about identifying stuff? Paying for it in town? Just having it in your backpack? Equip it? I don't feel like I can pay for everything to be ID'd.

Spells are simpler than they look. Offensive spells have an element, and are either a single target arrow, a bolt that goes in a line, or a ball around the caster (magic missile is single target, and its element is pure magic). If you join the fighter's guild (the only advantage of not having a guild is that skill trainers that visit your house can be any random stat instead of just certain ones) the cost of identifying goes down. The sense quality skill is needed to automatically identify carried items over time. Also, if you drop food on the ground, your pets won't automatically try to eat it if it's cursed.

From what little experience I have with this sort of game, wouldn't that lead to dying very quickly and having to start over?

Anywhere that has a scanlation without an abnormal font?

...

How do I expand the log? Can't find any ingame keybinding options and the wiki says it's the " / " key, I don't have an American keyboard and I've tried literally every key.

Anyway I was also wondering what it means when gear is saying it "maintains" a certain stat. Does that mean making easier to increase?

Iirc it lowers the penalty to that stat on death. If you eat a piece of equipment that maintains a stat you'll get more xp in that stat for 2000 turns

"maintains" means that it will prevent permanent status loss in general, but not temporary loss I think

Their details are written in your spellbook and on some pages in character screen.
Yes, you need to know about spell and have spellstock first though.
Just walk around, but you need sense quality skill to do that faster.

That only happens, when you play on one specific game mode.
Otherwise only your stats and skills just decrease a little.

No, just temporary debuffs won't work on that specific stat.

I really need to get back into the game

Done puppy cave but not still got all the skills from trainers, should I focus on doing jobs to get those before I move onto other dungeons?

Is something wrong with this AI? My pet keeps not understanding the instructions until the enemy gets a few spaces closer, and I'm trying to get the last one to always activate, but it doesn't work.

What's an easy way to splice cooking into my little girl? I tried capturing a farmer but all he gave her was Anatomy.

Look here, should be some other useful skills too.

Anything beyond cell 5 cannot be attacked with a basic range attack using a custom AI, so it spits out an error instead of doing anything.
something like this would be good.If Target Distance > 5 then Move (Forward)If Target Status != {Gravity} then Gravity SphereIf Target Distance = 1 then Attack (Melee)If Target Distance

Yes. Keep in mind that some skills you can only earn from guild trainers unless you have them by default because of your class. So maybe work on getting into the guilds that have skills you think you'll use.

Thanks if I remember right the mage guild has one I might want.

I would also consider the Fighter's guild to get Eye of Mind so you can get more crits on physical attacks. Also I believe the thieves' guild is the only way to get pickpocket

Look where?

You could always hope for the skills using a scroll of gain attribute, maybe

Thanks crits might help me, honestly my little girl keeps killstealing all the mobs though. Bit worried about pickpocket in case I end up getting myself in trouble in towns.
Also I am officially sick to death of harvest time quests kek.

Funfact: Firewall, Acid Ground, and Web all do not have line-of-sight or range limits.
Peris are fucking overpowered in that sense.

thanks

I love this game

I have a question for you guys, how many pets do you all run with? I've got 4 with me right now and I'm at level 37 and they've all gotten pretty strong even thought they lag a few levels behind me. I just keep getting good equipment I don't wanna sell and see a few of the god pets that would fill a role I don't really have in my party yet. Basically I'm asking how many of you go dungeon-crawling with a big party?

Also post your pets, I'm curious what other people use.

I've been trying to make a party with all the god pets save for the android for a while. I've got a harpy, the defender, the golden knight, the fairy and the exile as well as 2 little sisters, and one runs the shop, all fulfilling different roles. Defender mainly sorted out as a party healer, fairy as a ranged attacker like the harpy but also gives me seeds, harpy is super fucking good at killing everything, holy shit, golden knight for tanking and exile for spotting invisishitters and firing guaranteed magic attacks. The little sisters both have shadowstep and one has cheer, so they're constantly buffing themselves and the party and then using shadowstep to catch up into the fight.
Honestly, having a shitload of pets isn't actually that much of a hassle, the main problem is gearing them and giving them all AIs for their roles.

Honestly I don't have many, mostly because I just can't choose. I have the Little girl and Golden goose on my warrior, a and the Dog and Exile on my caster. Caster needs some more tankers and the warrior needs a caster.

Just two.
Little girl with good melee weapon and older sister fucking kill everything with her bow.
I really should sort my pets at dojo and in my pokeballs already Almost twenty of them.

I think you meant black angel instead.

Im petmastering it up so I have 6 or 7, most of them are melee tanks
I just comfortably stand back and spam magic missile, evil eye, and whatever nuke works on the current enemies

She's literally a harpy.

Has boost which changes his sprite and is a steroid. Martial arts, attribute, chance for extra attack shreds enemies.
Does more damage than me sometimes. High casting level makes for good emergency healing too.
Cheer ability gives Hero and Speed buffs to all allies. Does ok damage.

I saw someone who did that with like 10 pets and put them all in tag teams.

Realise what skill tickets are for, get all skills quickly. Start doing the first main quest dungeon, going well.
Then fucking Wizard of Elea and I'm dead.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

A shitton because I can' decide. My best pets are my evolved little girl and my evolved Yerles infantry.

this is not the kind of roguelike you play with permadeath fam unless you know the game in and out and play for score

Yeah I can't imagine playing this with permadeath. Autistically grinding out crafting skills or skills like fishing and cooking and then losing my character forever would be too much for me even in a roguelike.

I know, it's just annoying how OP caster enemies are. I don't have much in the way of attack wands but I've taken a magic missle and bought a I'm going to get a Yerles infantry slave.

...

Magic spells cast against you in early game are very strong.
Especially, when it's cast by fucking ghosts.

She is still called black angel ingame though.

You know you can find your own cute loli sprite and replace your evolved pet's sprite with it right?

They have to grow up sometime. Or you could just change its sprite.

Potion of Cure Corruption NEVER EVER
I'm gonna be a dwarf with edgy wings forever, I don't even know if I actually have them.

Thanks for the guide. Is there really no way to search or filter those sites?

Just play blackjack at a casino and win enough rounds in a row.

Best to pound blessed food or wait for a lucky day first.

You can also get lucky from blessed alcohol.

Remember kids, stay off the sauce

Any tips on making Elosnack stat edits stay permanently? I wanted to make a side slot with a snail that has 1 in everything except speed (high) for meme potential just to see how it handles but the stats revert after a while every time.

Does using a claw in your offhand count as dual wielding weapons? I looked them up on the wiki and it only mentions how two hand skill doesn't work with it.
Also are there any objectively better type of ranged weapons? So far the machine guns have looked the best to me. Some crossbows have had decent stats too but they're all so heavy. If I put ranged weapons in my hand slots, can I dual wield guns, and would there be a reason to do this?

And I got my first companion besides the little girl. I don't really know what to do with a caster though. Should I just put him in ranged gear for now cause of his dex and perception? Will he use the ranged weapon automatically even if he has a melee one equipped?

no claw and sword is considered 1 handed.

machine/laser guns probably best ranged, ranged in general doesn't do a lot of damage.
Also ,u cant shot twice by dual wielding guns.

mad scientist doesn't know any spells despite being a wizard. Pets fight according to their AI, iirc mad scientist is a melee only attacker.

*u can technically shoot twice if the guns have "increased chance of additional ranged attack."

There's a separate handler for base-stats. Every base stat/skill has 7 to 10 digits, with the first few denoting the actual base level of the represented number.
You're looking for sdata.s1, base {attribute}; if you want to set everything to 1 then you'll have to set each value except speed to 1000000.

What are the different ways of acquiring new companions? I've gotten one randomly after defeating it, I bought a horse in a town and seen people that you can hire (which I assume is not the same as "enslaving" them?). I've also seen general gods vendors sell "monster balls", can I throw those at wild little girls for example and get companions that way?

Getting some good companions seems like the thing I must do to advance right now. Only my little gear is anywhere close to okay. What's the deal with humanoid and beast companions? Beasts just seem plain inferior for combat purposes (until you get real nasty things I suppose).

Oh, then I guess he's kind of a shitty companion but he'll do for now I guess. Is going for a ranged build on my main character just a bad idea then? Maybe they're just stronger at the start but I haven't really found any melee weapons that seem stronger than my 10D3 machine gun.

There's a spell called Dominate that has a chance to convert any monster into becoming a permanent pet. The spell is tough to cast, but trains the fuck out of Charisma.
There's a limit to it however: unique NPCs, NPCs with brackets around their names, and NPCs in the void cannot be dominated.
HOWEVER, there's an item called an Astral Light Pen that can write up a contract with unique NPCs (See: Gods) so long as your level is higher than theirs. The contract will make a copy of the NPC but if the NPC is an actual god or super strong, there's a recruiting penalty. Not only for balance reasons, but also so that the NPC can gain something called AP later on.

Forgot to ask, what's the best way to get more storage? I can't throw any more shit on the floor in the starter cave and I haven't found any chests that are usable for storing other than the fridge.
I have 100k and looking to buy some cheaper home, but I don't just want to dump everything on the ground.

Cool I'll keep an eye out for that then. I'll probably start training magic later when I have a firmer grasp of the basics.

There's a spell for that too, fugger.
4-dimensional Pocket is a perception-based spell that opens up instant storage. Being a magician is fucking amazing.
On the downside, actually storing and taking things out of it drains stamina and eventually closes the portal if your stamina is too low.

Where do you think Nether Magic comes from?

I was looking for more permanent storage where I can throw shit I don't know what to do with or wont need. Seems like it would be easier to buy a piece of furniture than hunting down a spell as well as training my magic skills.

Hiring adventurers, buying slaves at slave market in Derphy, catching mobs with monster balls and using Light Astral Pen.
Yes, but you need to drop HP of your target to 5% and then hit it with successful throw.
Which can be more difficult than it sounds.
Knock-out feat skill and going alone help in using this method.
Lower level beast companions don't have any job and only their race, so their stats are pathetic.
Some of these are great to use at ranch though.
No, but have close range weapon just in case.

Buy storage house at embassy just north of Palmia.

*storage house deed

Needed to update my config. Thanks.

You can also restrain your pets with the trainer's whip, I think.

Where the fuck is the download, OP? Links are shit.

See

What does it mean when one of your pets "becomes inexperienced"? I just got a varuna and I'm fishing in palmia and I see this message come up twice

Can I abandon completed quests? I've been trying to find this piece of shit guard for 20 minutes and it's in fucking Vernis so it's not like it's a big town.

I'm not aware if you can abandon a quest that's ready to be handed in, but if it helps at all, the npc you're supposed to speak to will have a small blue symbol within a white bubble above their heads - hopefully that'll make it easier to spot them.

You can talk to any other guard and they'll tell you what general direction he should be in.

It's a hunting quest turn in, not a delivery so I can't ask for directions. I know both the guard model and the turn in symbol but I still can't find the cunt.

If quest givers are sleeping the turn in symbol will flash with the sleeping symbol.

Is it a bad idea to join the thieves guild early? I'm lvl 12 but the wiki made it seems manageable if I just stay around Derphy to grind up karma.

I finally found the bastard, don't know how he managed to evade me all the time. I was starting to think something killed him.

Also I was wondering if there was a way to store pets somewhere without them taking up a party space, other than selling? Sending them to town seems to still lock them in my party.

It would give you access to additional skill trainers that would have skills you might not have started with (especially if you didn't start as a thief), so I don't see why it would be that bad.

Do note, that it does have an actual (though temporary) effect on Palmia, and until the NPC's and buildings respawn it's going to be in ruin. I've not done this myself, so I'm just getting info online, although I'm positive NPC's themselves do respawn as I've had shopkeepers and such assassinated before only to come back a week later.
You should also make sure to have a plan that will ensure you don't get killed by the nuke yourself.

There is a doujou on the southern end of North Tyris (the continent you start in), it costs 10,000 to leave an ally there but they'll no longer count towards your limit (which is based on charisma, worth reading about on the wiki if you're interested).
You can also buy a deed for a 'Discarded Ranch', but those cost outlandish amounts. Unfortunately, storing an NPC in a normal Ranch, at your home/shop or at the Pub will have them still count towards your party total.

I thought joining the thieves guild was not paying taxes for 5 months, I've seen the quest to put a bomb in the teddy but that seemed unrelated to gaining entrance.
Thanks I'll have to rely on the dojo for now then. Already know the charisma thing, wearing some extra jewelry to give it a bump

Never mind, I got them completely mixed up. I've only been playing a few weeks myself. Yeah, you'll become a criminal then, the only major downside I can see is having low karma forcing you to stick to Derphy for shops and such until you're sorted again. My apologies. The benefits of the guild still apply.

Finally got some actual spare time to play for a decent time, I was wondering though as most guides and advice seem to cover the very start and towards endgame.
What should I be doing post the very start, I've done the puppy cave and the first bit of Lesimas. I'm guessing my next move should be raising skills and making money, should I be doing this by spamming jobs again? or should I be doing most dungeons for cash to get geared up and invest in shops and stuff?

Do jobs for plats, grind skills by doing dungeons. Spend the money on farms which can supply you with the food you need to go on dungeon runs.
Then get ready to go through three dungeons to unlock more levels in Lesimas.

Thanks, I assume I should be spending that plat on increasing my skill potentials?

Is the ether disease literally impossible to avoid and is eventually forced upon you by the game? I've been waiting out the storm to pop up with the inkeeper right at my side, then I get the tutorial explanation of what an ether storm is (which I've already gotten multiple times) and without allowing me any actions between I immediately get the disease even before the weather text changes or particle effects show alongside this message.

your ether desease counter is affected by a fuckton of things, the etherwind is just a full blast to the face of it

Avoid crystal porcupines as well, they give you ether for touching them.

...

Dare you enter my magical abode?

Yes, I typically aim for 200% unless I really need to raise something. Swimming for example I keep at 400% so I can raise it quickly.

I always bump investing to 400% then invest x50. Great for early game cha gains.

are putitoros actually sellable through the shop?

I would assume so, any other foods can be sold. If your shop isn't specialized for food it'll take longer to sell though

Well that problem certainly solved itself at least.
