How the fuck can you guys play a game for thousands of hours...

How the fuck can you guys play a game for thousands of hours? I'm not talking about OOnline games I'm primarily talking about single player games. RPGs in particular can bore me out quick how do you do it? Do you just grit through it? Pills? Caffine? Music? Videos? I need to know.

Spacing it? You don't fucking play the same game for days on end you mongoloid.

He means having thousands of hours logged on one game. How can you enjoy yourselves

only weebs and social retards do that, i hardly go further than 4 hours on any given game nowadays, my favorite one having count of 20h

Because its fun
**What the fuck do you want people to say?
Its has variant gameplay with RNG in some aspects to spice things up?**

oh WOW user! 20 HOURS in a single game XD
how do you even do that lol
you must be a pretty hardcore gamer ;)

Because it's fun.I have over 2k hours in skyrim and F:NV each. Maybe mgsv now as well actually

Maybe one day you too will find a game you like
Stop playing "cinematic" garbage

Play a monster hunter and you'll find out

I don't think I've ever played a single-player game for more than a thousand hours. The most I've put into a single-player game is around 500 hours, over multiple playthroughs.

I just really like videogames user. I also favour games with lots of replayability and moddability. Good games rarely outstay their welcome. It also helps that I try and never play the same game two days in a row so it's harder to burn out. And having other things to do that aren't videogames also means I cherish vidya time much more.
Currently however Warframe is consuming my life so I've broken that rule a lot lately.

For shame, user.

i need to fill the void somehow

But why?

futa loli mods user

I think it's time to stop playing.

Porn mods, lots and lots of porn mods and quest mods and all kinds of other shit. Bethesda did a shit job, but modders didn't.

Why would you want a loli when you can have an ara?

Friendly reminder there's a guy who uses this board who has like 4000 hours played on undertale, and there's nothing that should be a surprise for time played

Well whats wrong with that? Its a fun game, has a great soundtrack and a unique battle system

right on cue

Not saying there is a problem, I'm just stating, it should literally never be surprising when someone plays a game for a really long time.

So you're telling me you can complete Skyrim in a short amount of time

Are we talking like, just the main stuff here?
If so, yeah absolutely

Dont get me wrong, I agree with you but I've played through the game about six times over the years, with genocide and gaster runs (Before his shit became easier to spawn) and I only have 38 hours. How the fuck anyone manages 4000 hours is beyond me

...

The guy probably just left it running idle. Lots of people do that.

this
then he can post ebib screen shots and steam reviews

He hasn't reviewed the game though

Because plebs who not only don't want to try other games, but they tend to horribly suck at most other games.
So to feel good they replay the same shit all over and over again.
Kind of like people who rewatch movies more than 2 times.
Have a friend who has watched evey episode of star wars at least 30 times.

i've seen episodes and movies that i like many times; i've seen every episode of SG1 atleast 20 times, many episodes even more than that. fight me.

4000 hours in undertale… wtf? how? who? and most importantly why???

To each his own user. /ll/ though is godly, the best of both worlds. I'm jealous of the people who can rack up thousands of hours on a single game. The best I have is a few hundred on a handful of games that together add up to ~1500-2000 hours.

I haven't logged 1000 hours into any game. Most being 500 hours into Monster Hunter Tri because I was a bored shithead when I was younger who didn't bother with emulation that much. Most playtime I put into games now is fighting games. You can play for hundreds of hours and still feel like you have things to learn. I have 1000 matches in Gundam Versus and can only now hold my own against really good players in Japan and the US.

I played Demon's Souls for like 200 hours. No multiplayer. It's mostly about trying to find different shit to do and collect all weapons / armor, so there's always something to do.

Oh, can you affect how RNG makes Gaster shit appear?
Is there a point to it beyond DEEP LORE memes?

You are a complete waste of space. If you are like my retard friend then you even brag about how your view numbers have increased.

A combination of autism and poverty I would imagine.

Unless you're talking about mobile games which just prays on addiction.

I have 999 (that's when the counter stops) hours on Pokemon Emerald. Still can't beat the fucking battle factory.

have you ever beat a game more than once, or read a book more than once, or listened to a song more than once? faggot.

It's not about more than once. You reread a book 3 times at most.
The 20-30 range speaks of issues very close to autism.

Yes to all except pills.

Throw in skinner box trash and unfun mechanics designed specifically to waste time. Watch the community pass it off as 'difficulty'. That includes stuff like starcraft build order(spend the first several minutes of every game doing the exact same thing), warframe grinding(just use the cash shop goy), and SMT games (where you either grind to hell or grope around for weaknesses and reset to get all your resources back).

These games act as a containment for legit autists though, so it's better to just sit back and quietly laugh at the retards.

Some people are pathetic losers. They behave like pathetic losers.

why is 3 the limit? on what do you base your (bullshit) claim that repeated enjoyment is okay up to a certain point, afterwhich it becomes autistic? why do you apply this (bullshit) logic to books/movies/games and not to songs?
failing to grasp why others might enjoy a thing more times than average, and assuming that this is unacceptable, is itself an autistic thoughtprocess.

Decades later fans still make maps and mods for Half-Life 1, don't you know.
I still haven't come across a game that's so easily moddable outside of Todd Howard's games.

I don't.

Sounds like you just play shitty video games, OP. Why do you start shit threads with vague questions?

Doom is the king of easy modding nowadays in my opinion. Starsiege Tribes is a close second, although tragically almost no one plays it any more.

I logged 999 hours on Pokemon White on a single playthrough
honsetly I think I must've left it on or something, the second highest I have is SoulSilver at 450

Because music is a sound medium you dingus.
You can do tons of stuff while listening to songs. If anything it somewhat improves certain activities.
While with a 2 hour long movie you are stuck there doing watching and eating at best.
A book you might reread once or twice, but unless you have a job related to it or serious memory issues, then you would normally not reread it any more times.

If I can get ~1200 hours out of a shit mmofps grindfest, you can get at least a day out of a good game.

you're perfectly capable of having a movie or show playing in the background while you do other things, aswell.
additionally, doing other things while listening to a song doesn't change the fact that your'e still using it as a form of entertainment, and thus goes against what you said earlier with not doing things more than 3 times or so.
furthermore, you ignored part of my post: why is enjoying certain mediums of entertainment more times than average a bad thing, and on what do you base the claim that it is?
why is your judgment that reading a book once or twice is acceptable but beyond that is unacceptable for entertainment purposes any more valid that someone reading a book ten times?

Illiterate detected

...

Because it wastes your time, doesn't enrich you in any way. If anything regularly doing that keeps you from doing other things.

Obviously be *watching a movie* in this case you mean listening to a movie, which is a different thing entirely. You are threating the damn thing like a radio, rather than a movie.

I am talking to you about the guy who just sits there, eats popcorn and rewatches the same thing for god knows how many times. While doing nothing else.
Then he comes to me and brags about star wars as if he has achieved something. How exactly is watching the 8 episodes a total of 300 times a good thing ? I wish I had less retarded friends.
If you are anything like him, just find something new to do, geeze.

Books are normally things that you don't need to reread many times unless it's knowledge and not story related.
Can you imagine a person rereading war amd peace 20 times ?

because either
A: its fun
or B: its the least boring thing to do that you can think of

also, some RPGs and some other games have a lot of stuff to do
for example, dwarf fortress is a game that one could easily spend a few thousand hours playing if they decided to learn how to play

regarding rereading books, there are some reasons to reread them. one is finding stuff you missed the first time or two, the other is that you want to relieve the story in your head as you read it because it's a good story. and i'm sure there's others also.
if you enjoy a particular story greatly, why wouldn't you want to experience it more than once? i've read the original 'dune' three times and found some stuff the second and third time that i missed the first, and because i enjoyed the story alot, it the rereads were valuable experiences.
and the same applies to shows. granted, when i've rewatched SG1 it's mostly been when i'm doing other stuff also or about to fall asleep, but if someone did watch it and focus on it alone, it's no worse than watching a show you haven't seen before as far as the activity itself goes.

now obviously all of this is somewhat wasteful, but watching shit like 'game of thrones' for the first time isn't any less wasteful than rewatching LotR as far as the activity itself is concerned, the difference being only one, namely that you experience a new story rather than re-experiencing a story you already enjoy.

why is one of those better and one worse? it isn't as if you're never experiencing new stories, which would be depriving yourself, but rather sometimes going over what you already enjoyed and sometimes going to new stuff.

and i can't imagine a person reading war and peace once, but that's besides the point.

and while i doubt i'd ever watch a movie 300 times, i'm sure everyone of us has done some wasteful shit bordering on it, whether it's play a shitty MMO like WoW or spend countless hours breeding a golden fucking chocobo, spend a semester wistfully looking at a crush and never even asking her out, etc.

It's a mystery.

experiencing the same thing repeatedly is stagnation, you're not becoming exposed to new ideas or new content. You're not learning anything you didn't already know.

That's why it's dangerous to get stuck in an autism loop. You become less of a person than you should be.

Why do people eat at McDonalds when there are local family restaurants and cafes that they could get much better food at for not much more? Because they know exactly what they are getting. They don't have to think about anything, make any tough decisions, or risk having a bad experience. Just walk in and stuff your face. Hunger satiated.

...

But Mcdonalds is always the bad experience. From the garbage burgers to the garbage fries to the garbage they call bread, it's call fucking terrible and even if you're going to "oh but it's cheaper" at the very least here in Egypt the cheap stuff(nuggets, that one standard burger mcwhatever) barely satisfies your hunger and more often than not people order multiples of that shit to at the very least have a fulfilling meal.
Fuck mcdonalds.

I've logged about 700 hours into skyrim since 2011. But I mod the hell out of it and it keeps it fresh. I haven't played it now though in probably a year and a half.

Restaurants are funded by Crisco and don't even prepare their own food half the time, they outsource it to other companies.

3 rereads are ok.You want to remember the story or check something. That is fine. But for example with dune 10 rereads or more would be retarded unless you are doing some work related to the book.
Bullshit. You know everything that is going to happen. Even I have watched stuff like the predator 4 times or sth, but at this point I see no reason whatsoever to rewatch it anymore. I'd just be wasting my time. Might as well try something new.

Games are not the exact same thing. In a game you can do different things and different runs. In a book or movie you do the exactly same thing.

This here is king bullshit that you just spewed.
The quality of the thing that you repeat like an autist matters a fucklot.
You have no idea how many people to this day keep rewatching shows like *friends*. Dumb sitcomms with laugh tracks, that just happened to be among their first series and somehow stuck with em.
At least if you are an autist watch something good. Repeating a movie with quality camera shots, music and scenery is completely different from watching some garbage sitcom like friends or modern trash like goy of thrones that stretches the poor moments into oblivion but passes the good moments in a flash.
What you do in your life more or less shapes you. It's not really a miracle that guys who play CS and ASSFAGGOTS all day for years tend to be dumb as shit.

This is a newfag detector.

I have probably played Tetris for almost a thousand hours over the years. I've never really made the math, that's something only steam good goys give a shit about.

Persona 3 took me 80 hours to beat. I only completed it because I had already put so many hours into it I felt it would be a complete waste to abandon it. I could literally feel myself dying every single second I poured into that game, precious time thrown away that I would never, ever get back. I chose the bad end instead of doing the final month because I just could not fucking stand it any longer. I haven't played a Persona game since and I never will.

what makes this post truly pathetic is how the poster tries to portray people who still like video games as essentially "lifeless" to excuse the fact he's burnt out a long time ago but still clings to hobbies that no longer bring him joy.

i can't really argue against that. i concede the argument.

Wendy's is king.

I play good RPGs

It depends user. If someone replays a shit simple game that can be mastered after a few hours continuously for months or years then it's pretty fucking autistic that you can be entertained that long by such simple shit. But I can understand going back to it every now and then if you find it enjoyable. Books and Movies are different as you can't really get much more out of them with repeat viewings/readings. Unless you're analyzing them for some reason there isn't much reason to view/read them more than once every year or so.

Music is a different kettle of onions, but generally the same does apply, if you just kept continuously listening to one song or one album for days or weeks on end one would assume you have very limited horizons when it comes to music. On top of that, music is a passive activity, so repeat listenings aren't as "expensive" in terms of time invested or opportunity cost as the others. You can just listen to an album you like but heard before in the car, while shitposting, etc.

Many people legitimately like eating shit. And if they like eating shit, they know it's safe that they can walk into any McDonald's and get roughly the same quality of shit they get anywhere else.

Most of this chain food shit is produced by the same outsourcing companies, you're not wrong. That includes overpriced chain restaurants where you'd think you'd get better quality, same shit.
