Unreal engine 4 Yoshi

Why is Nintendo embracing Unreal 4 when Pokémon Go and Mario run already runs on the Unity Engine?

Unreal Engine is not bad for RPGs and tactical strategies. Its only a shit engine for shooters, action games.

Why are japs sucking Tencent's dick recently? Isn't that counter-intuitive?

Mobile shit aren't real video games.
That and Unreal 4's mobile support is practically nonexistent meaning they don't really have a choice.

r u mentally incapacitated

He's not. Unreal Engine has problems with input delay. This is part of the reason SFV has those infamous 8 frames of input delay and Guilty Gear Xrd has custom-written input tools, to circumvent the engine's default ones that produce the lag.

because pokemon go is stagnating compared to normal pokemon and mario run was a bomb by mario standards.

They prefer vidya over engine. I'm fine with that.

Because Unreal is the better engine.

But its open source (not free software) so they can just rewrite it if the input delay is so crucial.

I think they want their mobile games to be high end. In their "a Year in Review" they mentioned that something like 10% of all Koreans have played the Lineage 2 mobile version made with ue4.

...

I dont understand engines and dont care

They could, but that would involve effort, good programmers that can understand the engine, and suits that actually understand why minimizing input delay is important in fast-paced games and set a few people to the task until they bring that down to the optimum, which could take anywhere from two weeks to several months. In short, nearly nobody will bother with that.

NRS already did it. Didn't SF5 and Tekken 7 get patched to remove that 8 frame delay?

SF5 has patched out some, but not all of it, if I remember correctly. Heard nothing about Tekken 7, though I'm pretty sure that game intentionally keeps some delay offline to make netplay feel better.

...

if you don't know what you're talking about, you should probably not embarrass yourself, faglord.

Not sure if the Unreal Engine 4 will work smoothly on something like the Switch.

Fix'd. Nintendo can't help but to cut corners to save on shekels. Most we can hope for is that they take the limitations into account when they make their games.
They are usually 5 years behind tech wise though so don't get your hopes up.

Good, Game Freak clearly has no fucking idea how to make a full 3d game engine if gen 7 and 6 are anything to go by. I rather they use an established engine.

Too bad that doesn't mean the games won't be shit regardless

Can you make 2D games with unreal 4?

It will with a 64gb cart, for maximum unoptimization

Reading the thread above may just kill a few brain cells by the way.

UE4 rolled out an update that severely decreased input delay a while ago, user. Tekken 7 has already benefited from it, though I dunno about SFV, Capcom probably doesn't give enough of a shit.

Unity is a shit engine using a shit language made by shit developers for shit indiefags.

Two. And I bet most people just repeat unchecked info they get from other anons. I bet if someone said that unreal engine has a hidden datamine function that tells the government how big you like cocks in your futa porn, and a couple other retards echoed that, it would make the rounds on/v/ and would be the talk of the month on reddit in a couple weeks (under a positive light of course).
