Yeah, and the grass is green, and the water is wet.

just because its obvious doesn't mean we can't sit here and complain about it

One has to Marvel at the absolute fuckup Disney has turned what once was a license to print obscene amounts of money.

The movies are shit, the Last Jedi is being mauled both by user reviews and in terms of profits, the merchandise isn't selling (far more important than the movies themselves), EA are dragging their feet in terms of Star Wars vidya, on top of fucking up so badly they now have multiple government inquiries looking to regulate and tax their main source of income.

What a white man nurtured and grew over the span of 40 years, something that made him billions and was beloved by all, was ruined by Jews and women in less that 2 years.

It's kind of sad things have gotten so bad now that even bad SW vidya looks good now

Was force awakens that bad? I haven't played it.

*Force Unleashed
It was seen as really average at the time. It hasn't aged very well. Combat is very button mashy and the game is full of QTEs. It's also extremely linear. The game has a very rapid difficulty spike towards the end with a big QTE sequence where you down a star destroyer that's really hard for some reason. The final level is also way harder than anything else in the game.

If this was the only Star Wars game they ever made then it would've probably been remembered a lot better. But compared to Star Wars games in the past it's pretty bad.

It also had an enormous budget for the time. Like they invented an enormous amount of technology for things like the game's physics and it's all basically wasted on a game barely anyone cares about or bothers to finish.

But even it looks like Citizen Kane compared to anything nowadays. Like I'd play TFA over Battlefront or Battlefront 2 in a heartbeat.

Why is there a Goku on that Thumbnail?

Because NPCs pop in frequently, so the guy added the DBZ instant transmission sound as a joke. It's even worse in the DLC

What really puzzles me is why EA is so hesitant to make Star Wars games. They used to shit out licensed games by the dozen in the 2010s, but all they did with a basic monopoly on SW games is make the same FPS turd twice in a row, somehow managing to make everyone hate them even more in the process.

Are they aware Disney is sinking SW with no survivors and are trying to avoid the shitshow? Do they lack the developers to make games? Do they simply not care because selling Fifa lootboxes is making them boatloads of money?

I don't care what anyone says. I loved Galactic Battlegrounds. Force Unleashed on the other hand is one of the post-Episode 3 media projects that killed Star Wars for me. You have a huge EU to explore with a franchise that had concluded in the eyes of normalfags and you still make a game set around the time of the movies because "muh familiarity" with overpowered Force shit.

now that we can embed Hooktube you have no excuse for being a faggot.

I mean it's okay but even at the time it wasn't considered to be very good as an RTS. Especially since it didn't really do ship combat because the AoE2 engine wasn't capable of doing it

it's more because Empire at War exists which basically did a Star Wars RTS as good as we'll probably ever get that it made Galactic Battlegrounds more like an embarrassing relic.

I'd give a foot and a leg for a game where you play as Vader and go around hunting down Jedi. Make Platinum make it and you got yourself an instant classic.

I don't think they're hesitant. I think they spent more than they wanted for the license and Battlefront 1 was supposed to do way, way way better because it was releasing around the same time as the movie. Plus there was so much demand for Free Radical's cancelled Battlefront 3 it probably sounded like a slam dunk to them. They didn't even bother to do things like the Clone Wars setting or a campaign.

Since Battlefront 1 and 2 released close to the Star Wars movies I think EA just intended to release Star Wars games around the same time as them to try and cash in on brand recognition til the IP either becomes too over saturated or stops making money. I don't think they expected the amount of backlash they got over Battlefront 2 since they put as much effort into it as the rest of their games.

Is quality control really that hard

Source on that? I mean, I'd want nothing but to believe you.

Christ thats bad. I thought they had an entire games worth of lesson learned.

Behind the scene interviews I remember reading is they made it into a god of war clone over Jedi Knight like gameplay because they wanted "mass appeal". That physic engine was completely wasted on that gameplay type.

Apparently toys of the chink goblin they forced on the nigger are piling up with retailers.

If this was a just world they'd have made it into a Jedi Outcast game with better saber combat.

Listening to this interview by the guy who created Jedi Outast's/Academy's combat system really opened my eyes as to how lazy devs have gotten with it. At one point they even make fun of TFU's combat as being like "hitting each other with sticks"

Literally the best thing about the game.

Honestly it was rather satisfying in many ways.

Starkiller's Sithstalker design is 11/10. It's a shame it's wasted on this game

Thank god someone modded it into Jedi Academy.

Figures it would be only relative to force awakens, but I suppose the decline of things this big only happen one step at a time.

I don't think thats not how that works at all, probably. Lightside darkside karma points seem completely fucked!

Force Awakens merchandise was also underselling and rotting away on shelves.

Yellow eyes became a meme after Episode 3. It didn't use to be. I remember even Kotor made you look more zombified gradually as you turned to the darkside

One thing I remember really disliking about the modding community for the game was they really adopted the "yellow eyes = darkside" meme. Like if you look up a lot of skins for PC heads they have the yellow eyes bullshit instead of actual dark side transitions.

Pretty much all the DLC for TFU games were good. Although the Tantooine mission wasn't the best compared to Hoth and Endor.

The Dark Side is pervasive and corrupts Completely. While the yellow eyes thing isn't neccessarily a thing, the paler appearance and general decay of physical features is true. It's why most Sith Lords look alike aside from the original few who hadn't really given in, but instead learned to wield it.

Anybody who didn't pick Keanu Reeves face portrait is gay.

It's a competent hack-and-slash with some neat/fun Force powers, but if I remember correctly the first FU is locked at 30fps. I'm not sure about the second one.

I thought the yellow eyes where because of lava, because I thought lava would do that to you for some reason, and that shot was just a trick of the lighting.

I bet Kyle could without turning all zombie.

This is why videogame source codes need to be released

Why the fuck is Goku in the thumbnail?

the Dark Side ending to this game always struck me as far more rewarding

He can fly to Galaxies far far away.

It really depends on both the person and the circumstances. Sith like Darth Bane never underwent physical changes IIRC and more recent examples would be Palpatine and Dooku. However once the control of the Dark Force is lost the physical changes begin to appear.

Basically it either manifests itself in extreme circumstances of hate, anger, or fear or you just let it in which case you're a slave to the Dark side of the force. Dooku never went through any so it never showed. Palpatine was almost killed and the fear of death basically forced the Dark Side to manifest itself physically and extremely alter his appearance as he used it as a shield to stop Dindu from frying him. Anakin only showed signs of physical alterations after he had completely given in to all three emotions. Fear of loss, and both anger and hate towards the Jedi.

...

Anything apart from the original three movies is shit. The Star Wars EU was shit. And frankly, KOTOR was not a particularly good game either. It was a consolized piece of shit RPG with your average Bioware writing.

Too bad the ground combat is boring and slow as shit. Space battles are the real game.

I like it how a woman with no armor can tank a million hits.
Stormtrooper armor is as useless as usual.

The Force is female.

I recall that stormtrooper armour isn't meant to be able to halt blasters entirely, but mitigate the damage so that the wearer survives taking the shot. So most of the troopers you see get thrown back by a bolt in the chest actually got to live and fight another day.

...

No, they die because the main cast have plot armour and they don't. They were taken down by Ewoks with wooden arrows and rocks, for fucks sake.

Sadly Vader isn't an acrobat, so you can't have him jumping and rolling, like he is Raiden or Bayonetta, so I don't think a Platinum style game would work with Vader. Ironically, something less cuhrayze than even God of War would work better for a Vader type game.

Unless Disney retconned that too, stormtrooper armor can fully stop bolts from most civilian market blasters.

according to Lucas back in ROTJ, they can't even stop wood.

The market changed.

It used to be focused around getting as many games sold as possible. So they'd shit out anything with "Star Wars" on the box knowing that at least some idiot would buy it, and over the course of the year their 50 Star Wars games would make them X amount of cash. They were all cheaply made crap because you can't drop AAA budget on Anakin and Padmes coarse sand adventure and still make a profit.

Now the industry is all about getting you to buy one game a year, and then pumping you for DLC and micro transactions for the next 12~ months while the alternate dev house shits out the sequel. They don't want you buying loads of different Star Wars games because then you're much less likely to fall for their skinnerbox psychology treadmill and drop $100 on random card packs that cost $1 and a day to make.
Profits in the industry were soaring before EA fucked up the lootbox game by pushing it too far. They were spending less on deving games and making orders of magnitude more money from hiring addiction specialists to tweak their games with the aim of raiding your wallets.

I imagine armor made to stop blasters doesn't prioritize protecting against blunt force, same as kevlar won't stop a knife but will save you from a bullet.

A Darth Maul-game though…

Would have been a fun game.

Are the Nu-Battlefront games worthy of a pirate, to play the singleplayer? Im curious, and to be honest, games look graphically well, and might as well try to see it with my eyes.

(checked)
There's no worthwhile gameplay and the story is shit. The only positive about them are the visuals. However I'm not sure that's enough reason to waste bandwidth and time pirating a 60+GB game.

Back to reddit

They had one job and they managed to fuck even that up.

I heard that X-wing Alliance has a TIE fighter conversion of it. Should I play it instead of the original 1995 Tie Fighter?

No
TIE is GOAT

I heard it doesn't work on Windows 7 and onward. Also playing this kind of total conversions becomes a game of cat and mouse where you keep separating what's new and what old, it drains your enjoyment.

Found this mod for Jedi Academy. Haven't tried it yet but it looks fun.

how do i into it without a joystick

These two games basically took everything what was good about Star Wars, rolled them into challenging space shooters and most importantly, left the faggy bits out.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that the Inferno Squadron is supposed to be the most elite of the elite in the Imperial Navy. Iden who's father fucking founded Inferno Squad and is the commander of it literally betrays the Empire for no purpose or reason other than her homeworld would get metaphorically gassed. Then of course she goes on a murdering spree and eventually escapes with the Rebellion because HOPE.

The 501st in the second Battlefront was far better written and had more comradery, not to mention loyalty than the shit nuFront II put forth.

for Tie fighter you can just use keyboard and mouse and reconfigure controls, not sure if X-Wing is the same

You can use a gamepad and retain most of the functionality. Here's a few guides.

I honestly like that game a lot and feel like the love that went into making it shines through even when the quality doesn't

Was the sequel worse or about the same quality as the first? I'm debating replaying the first game again but if the sequel was alright I might go that route.

Well, funny how completely unarmored people survive blaster shots to the gut without any problems, but armored soldiers die from 1 shot.

Also, wood. WOOD.

The sequel is alright/about the same from what I remember, and the combat is somewhat improved. Though the story is slightly worse depending on who you ask with an added love interest thrown into the mix. However, the Endor DLC lets you murder Ewoks, Chewie, Han Solo, and Leia so it about evens out. And I agree that some love, or at least thought went into the games themselves. Even though all the DLC for the games are non-canon, the Hoth DLC from the first game ties into the Endor DLC from the second where Luke is presumably dead/captured by Starkiller, and Leia ends up learning how to use the force and a lightsaber. I thought it was pretty neat how it ties together even though they had no reason to do so.

that's pretty neat, I'll have to give it a pirate.

Is anyone really surprised by this shit? I mean come on, does no one remember all of the bugs and glitches in BF3, BF4, BFHL, SWBF? All of these shit games even had "betas" as well and all of their problems were still present in their respective games on launch. Hell, most of the bugs are the same ones in all of their other frostbite games. The enemy AI being pants on head retarded is a dice speciality. I don't understand why they're being forced to do shitty single player stuff when their strong suit is making multiplayer games. Dice can't make a decent single player game to save their lives.

were there any mods to add some length to Jedi Academy? Loved the fuck out of that game but it felt like it ended way too soon.

Because BF4, BF1, nuBattlefron 1 and 2 are such great games, right?

I really liked it but I can see why people wouldn't, it's a bit clunky at some parts and the quality of the level design varies but it has a great physics engine, some pretty epic moments, the voice actor of the protagonist is fantastic and it fits perfectly into the EU canon and I think it still looks pretty good

Well OK they had parts lying around and they definitely repurposed things into Academy, like Tavion's scepter energy blast is just reskinned from Galak's battlesuit. But still, that's pretty impressive.

The guy manages to sell it to me that's for sure, and I'm not even much into multiplayer games.

This is some strange definition of "mass-appeal" because Outcast and Academy managed that perfectly well without needing to be stripped down.

I knew someone like you would mention that. They can still have a "strong suit", even if their best quality as a company is still an "E" grade. It's their "highest" quality out of all of their other qualities, which isn't saying much. Guess I should've added: "which isn't saying much to the end of: "when their strong suit is making multiplayer games", so you would understand.

"which isn't saying much" to the end of:*

Holy shit is this from super? The filler episodes in this series must be 90%

Most underappreciated vidya power armor tbh.

I honest to god forgot we went up to Battlefield 4.
Was 3 any good?

Fucking flag.

What good does that do anyone, fuckface?

If you want to look at the singleplayer then just watch Broteam's livestream.
The campaign of nuBF2 forces you to play as a stronk mystery-meat womyn (they butchered the 3D model just like in ME:A).
It's written by a former gamejourno guy who looks like he only eats soy-based food.

She looks like shit IRL too, just like every other filthy, brown, inbred mongrel.

Someone already asked this

I brought up those games specifically because of the fan community for them still existing. I'm not aware of a big X-Wing/Tie Fighter fan community.

The other dude wrote Spec Ops. How do you go from that to writing this garbage?

I remember Lucasarts was one of the two companies that actually managed to get a license to use Euphoria for the ragdoll & character animations for their games as the company who made Euphoria is stingy as fuck on who gets the license.

Watch the video in the OP

There's a big story mod called Escape Yavin 4 I remember liking. There was actually a few story mods for the game. I suggest going on it's moddb or onto jkhub.

Jedi Outcast was built on-top of another game called Star Trek Voyager Elite Force. If you play Elite Force it comes across as just Jedi Outcast with better gunplay. Elite Force took 2 years to make whereas the brunt of Outcast's development was clearly just making assets and making the saber combat good.

Going from trash to garbage isn't a very big leap, you know.

Mystery of the ages

I bet he created the characters and the IGN soyboy wrote the script.

Star Wars is shit
this is now a Dragon Ball thread, since Goku is on the OP

...

Dragon Ball is shit. This is now an anti jew thread.

But it was an anti-EA thread to begin with. Now let's discuss retarded muscle men yelling a lot and smacking each other into conveniently placed cliffs.

Thats some argument you have there. This is now a cuckchan NO U thread.

There's already a Dragon Ball thread. Go bump that one.

How do these games hold up today? Is setup janky as fuck?

Are there any modern TIE/X-Wing games that capture the speed and energy that the X-Wing sequence at the start of TLJ had?

Thoughts on 2017 SWTOR? I've just redownloaded it, figured i'd check it out. It isn't offensively bad yet.

Be prepared for an entirely new level of disappointment and anger once you hit the Zakuul expansions. I don't recommend it.

I've got nothing better to do so I think i'll finish all the content and then make a very angry thread on it so we can all laugh

Didn't Ray not get included in the latest star wars monopoly set because her toys don't sell well?

You stupid nigger, it's spelled Rei

like you care nigga

Except Palpatine actually did look like that, he was just using the dark side's cloaking ability. After the fight he didn't bother because he needed to look scarred for support and at that point everyone would know that Jedi are basically space sorcerers, who knows what the force could do to someone

You are both stupid niggers.

It's actually Roy.

I thought it was Rae

...

I saw this with family today. They wanted me to come. I didn't want to look like a weirdo so I went. All I knew was that Luke kills his son and nukes the commonwealth dies in the end. I figured there would be a few major propaganda moments, but the entire thing was so ridiculously jewish. It was even worse than the last movie.

I wouldn't have even cared, because Leia and Mon Mothma, but
I knew what was coming next

Star Wars was already on life support after the prequels and Disney finished the job the second they got their tendrils into it and decided to make bad fan fiction the new canon.

You stupid fucking cowardly normalfag.

It's Rey Mixer and Finn Dindu. Their child will be royalty: Miss Cejen Ashun.

But no, seriously, her name is Rey Mixer.

...

QTEs were the mid-to-late 2000s method of getting around making good bosses. 90% of the bosses in the game are completely identical aside from the QTEs

it wasn't terrible but definitely wasn't good. really middle of the road shit, and was basically just cod: even more retarded way of unlocking weapon parts edition. i find it pretty ironic that i think back on bf3, bf4, hardline, battlefront etc and i think hardline conceptually might have been the least bad of them all

you just described almost everything i hated about the movie, only a few things you missed

>the saltskimmers that did and contributed literally, no exaggerating fucking nothing

The main reason people disliked it was because it was a huge step back from BF2.

The main reason people were excited for Free Radical's Battlefront 3 was because it promised to be a much larger game than BF2. Like it was going to have real time jumping between space battles and land battles. And all of that was ignored by EA and DICE.

Oh and I forgot one
although given that was probably something that was positive about the game

he was asking about/i was talking about battlefield 3

No armor, outside of powered armor, is all that effective against blunt force. Personal body armor needs to be flexible so the person can move, therefore it will always be vulnerable to heavy objects, weather it's wood, rocks, or metal.

You're trying too hard.

Speaking of reddit.

they increased the lethality of all weapons across the board to make the game faster paced like call of duty. it was the first game on the downhill slide to where Battlefield is today

You know who's opinions are even better than Broteam's? Vinesauce's of course!

I'm not going to defend soy wars or anything, but Vin isn't pissed pedro saying GO WATCH IT 5 MORE TIMES AND YOU'LL GET IT. He saw a movie that was pretty flashy colors and effects and liked it for that, as for the star wars aspect which he covered during his full "review" video, he said that he sees what they were trying to go for and its a good improvement over the retread that the farts awakens was but still had way too much nonsense in the middle.

You'll get the same, if not better, opinion out of RLM. There's alot of good ideas that work IN THEORY but didnt when actually applied. Feels kinda like a monkey paw wish.

Good luck. I managed to slog through KOTFE and KOTET, made it back to Iokath and then got so pissed off I just logged out after the first mission. It wasn't fun, it wasn't interesting, and my purely morbid curiosity to see how bad it could get ran out.

Hey now, don't diss mr sauce himself.

It seems heavily influenced by the prequel meme of emotionless eunuch jedi that believe that acting on emotion ever is darkside shit.

The Last Jedi was good ideas executed by a man who despite his Probably best efforts, comes off as a movie that's telling old fans to get fucked and that they only want the new fans(the kind who defended TFA as a good movie and think diversity quotas are a good thing).

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting.

Anyone who likes brofag or fagsauce gets insta-filtered, even if it's as a joke.

In that order.

very clever i see

I'm not sure what the image is supposed to be portraying other than the bitch's inability to act.

Pretty much.

What the fuck were they thinking for the "arguments" regarding the Republic and Empire? The Republic did nothing to help you and, to the contrary, actively tried to sabotage you while Acina gave you physical support, supplies and the sacrifices of not only her soldiers, but of the Empress herself. They wanted it to be a hard choice for a Republic sympathizer yet all of Malcolm's argument boiled down to was "You're a Jedi" even though mine was clearly full dark side.

i've actually always wondered if the republic/empire questions were intentional in TOR or if they were completely accidental. the republic shows itself to be a lying government where they'll smile through their teeth and tell you everything's fine then send you to die, while the empire is a very obvious meritocracy and they make zero secret of it. during the course of the game this comes up in discussion, not often but sometimes

she looks like she just shit herself

Knowing Bioware? Probably on accident. They wanted the Sith to be "edgy" and "dark" yet ended up being very sympathetic while the Republic was supposed to be pure with the occasional blemish but they just come across as genocidal maniacs. For instance, the Sith origins get to participate in a quest for a pureblood in which you test the racial purity of the Lords on Korriban. Once he finds out that the percentage of Sith blood is in the single digits, he laments of the fact that the Sith are a dying breed ruling an Empire held up by mutts and filthy aliens. I guess this is meant to be an analogy to the Nazis, but it ends up coming across as tragic and remorseful. Meanwhile on Tython, all of the Dark Side choices involve killing savages and telling people to man the fuck up. I mean, you don't want to hurt the feelings of those poor oppressed flesh raiders and the egos of fragile Jedi.

She does have some sort of broken vagina disease so maybe she queefed herself into pain.

Dragon Ball is truly the professional wrestling of anime.

I laughed way too fucking hard at that

Remember Mara Jade was literally the most popular EU character (at least among literary people when that official poll was done, Kyle or Thawn might beat her now). They got rid of a legitimate popular, strong, female character to do NuSW with shitty ones.

Who would they even need to pay to have made the Thawn trilogy into a movie?

I've asked myself that question for literally every choice in the Zakuul expansions.

There's even less reason for an Imperial to side with them. I mean Acina is pretty chill for a dark council member, she obviously knows not to fuck with you, she sticks her neck out to support you during KOTET, what possible reason do you have to side with the pubs?

The characterization during the original game and even Makeb was something I enjoyed. I mean the Sith and the Mandalorians were both out for revenge to right ancient wrongs and in the end to secure their very existence from the forces (The Republic and the Jedi) that had tried to genocide them on multiple occasions before. It's shown plainly during TOR that the Republic is still willing to genocide the Sith for the crime of wanting to not be genocided. But let's just throw that all out the window for some expansions that bring Revan back only to destroy his own characterization, then crawl up our own ass with an empire 'beyond the light of the dark side' in a story that is not only poorly executed but doesn't even feel like Star Wars, but could so easily have been a proper star wars story that it's pathetic.

Could be they had him do small sections and just used his name to try and sell more copies. Sorta like what a lot of companies do with avellone now. Since enough normalfags know who he is, affixing his name to the title is like brand recognition.

That actually makes sense, "Rods from God" and the like are well established in physics while being powered by simple gravity. The problem is making it explicit that part of physics still works with hyperspace completely breaks the last movie and tells everyone all they needed to do to destroy star killer base was set up an old pile of rust up with a droid pilot (if not a simple macro) to jump past Starkiller base's shields and not stop.

The EU actually gave two reasons why that isn't possible:
1: hyperspace is an alternate universe thingy (there are even two WEG RPG modules where the player's hyperdrive fucks up and strands them in hyperspace) more like a Star Gate than FTL.
2: Gravity wells pull you out of light speed, a fact the Imperials weaponize with artificial gravity wells.

Even without that you could logically put other explanations for why hyperspace doomsday machine isn't a thing

iirc some writer for Disney confirmed Thrawn is still canon. Probably since the Thrawn trilogy was really popular and Disney seems to just pick and choose what worked in the EU and ignore everything else. Like for some reason Kyle Katarn's ship the Mouldy Crow is canon in NuSW but whether Kyle himself is canon or not isn't confirmed.

He's in Rebels, which is canon. And terrible.

For the second one? Which felt unfinished/too short?

Yeah I've never played Elite Force. Heretic II though, that's a pretty fun game.

It's not like there haven't been cool Star Wars toys. Like the lightsaber replicas.

DELEET THIS

Point is, both the EU and Lucas made sure never to touch upon the subject in too much detail because they were aware it would break every single aspect of the universe to pieces. If everyone's FTL capable station wagon is suddenly capable of destroying a whole continent just because Average Joe forgot to pull the brakes on time it trivializes every single conflict in the history of Star Wars.

Only a woman could be so monumentally stupid to write something as asinine as this.

I vaguely got the idea from the movie that you need to be really up close in order to pull off a successful hyperspace ram. They thought the cruiser was abandoned and let it get too close, and when it turned to jump they couldn't shoot it down in time. Otherwise the ship would get obliterated by the Order flagship if it normally tried to get closer, as jumping from a long distance would already put you in hyperspace before you could collide with any ships facing you.

There was another instance of a hyperspace ram in the EU against an Imperial flagship, but in that case it was just shrugged off.

I said it in the factions thread, but SWTOR had really good writing for the Empire and Republic that is completely wasted on that piece of shit MMO. They could have made KOTOR III out of that writing and continued on with it instead of bringing back Revan and all of that other stupid bullshit. I would have actually liked a Star Wars game where I get to see the perspective of multiple people throughout that time period. What I would have done is remove the bounty hunter and smuggler from both sides, I'll get to this later, and give the Empire a shocktrooper/commando character and the republic an agent like story with the SIS. Then I would create a third faction/non-faction that consists of the underworld where I would put the smuggler, bounty hunter and maybe an assassin character. You could be hired by either side but you would have a story that would follow the general time frame of the cold war. This would be like the Malkavian route where everything makes sense in retrospect and you can get spoiled because of rumors that pirates and other riff raff spread when you are at your hub. The Republic story would follow the natural progression set off in TSL in that you are on a quest to kill the Emperor, easy enough. The Sith Empire, however, would be about redemption and reconquest. I would force the player to play as a pureblood if they chose Sith as to merge both the Sorc and Warrior classes. You won't be a slave, you are of royal blood. You gain power and eventually you are offered the position of Wrath and charged with hunting down the traitorous Scourge. The agent/soldier story is about fighting for what you think is right. You saw how the republic will stop at nothing to kill you and everyone you love. Here the player can be whatever race they want, but chiss would be an obviously more fitting choice. Both sides would be race specific so you can't have Sith Jedi and alien Sith as to keep the illusion of authenticity. Now keep in mind I'm trying to use the scraps of SWTOR and not making my own story.

Still can't believe Disney forced Timothy Zahn to make a family-friendly version of Thrawn for their Nu-Canon universe with Thrawn's new origin novel, it's fucking harry potter levels of shit.

The new canon already threw away any and all rules governing hyperspace. Han can jump through a shield into a planet's atmosphere, despite the fact that FLT in Star Wars can and will be disrupted by gravity.

In TLJ now you have enemies acting like clueless idiots that somehow miss the fact someone is going to ram into them and treat this as a surprising and new tactic no one before Admiral Tumblr thought of before.

You can calculate where you will exit when in hyperspace. The issue isn't the distance, but that they weaponized FTL.

Licensed video games are always suspect,
There is only one developer who does not have to innovate or take risks because he practically has a guaranteed income due to monopoly licensing. The fans are going to buy the game no matter what and the recent star wars debacle is a good example why licensing is a cancerous practice.

Friend of mine who listened to the Thrawn (Canon Novel) Audiobook, apparently Zahn made a younger version of Gilad Pellaeon named Eli Vanto. Technically Gilad Pellaeon is canon but with a different origin and Name

Wrong. Gamebeson and plate (with linen padding) were both very good against blunt.
You also have to take into account how the blunt force is delivered and how much.

Getting hit with a stick and getting hit with a steel mace are two completely different things.
And even a plastic cosplay armor is going o protect you from most of he force a thrown rock can deliver (unless it's a really big rock going fast).
The Ewoks are child-sized teddy bears fighting with wooden spears, sticks and rocks. There's no way they could apply sufficient force against any kind of even relatively effective armor.

Holy shit, that pop-in of endless troopers looks like something from a budget fps from like 2005.

Which are the best Star Wars games, and why is it Super Star Wars?

Star wars brand is dying and making AAA games costs too much. Disney will only allow AAA games with AAA budgets, which ironically causes the brand to die faster as only products deemed "safe" like nu-Battlefront:Womyn edition can get made, which itself probably not even a safe bet anymore now that EA fucked up on microtransactions.

Doesn't Thrawn have NuAge pronouns in the novel?

I don't remember the story mode of Battlefront 2(the actual one) being so ass since I used to play Galactic conquest 24/7. Am I missing something like can I amass my own squad and give orders to the bots or am I actually supposed to be going commando against all of these jedniggers?

It's just bot battles with cutscenes.

You can "form up" if you aim at a bot and press f4. Most of the missions involve a certain objective that ties into the overall story and rise of the Empire, hence the name of the campaign. I play it for the narration at the beginning and end of the missions because that kiwi can do a mean clonetrooper.

...

It wasn't ass, and it was never about going commando. It was a loyal battalion and you working your way towards trying to crush the rebellion. The best part about it was seeing the civil war from the view of a literal Imperial grunt. Shit like the Battle of Hoth was considered a turning point, and pretty much the reassurance of the New Republic's defeat after the destruction of the first Death Star.

It was also canon (before Disney) that any Stormtrooper escort or personnel that accompanied Vader in the first 3 Star Wars films were 501st Legion.

He can. God damn what a voice.

I wasn't talking about the story, I just want to know if I can get a bunch of troopers behind me so I can make use of certain weapons and gadgets like defense/attack boosts or the dark trooper's arc gun

If I recall the only classes that gave bonuses were the Clone Commander, Officer, and one of the Rebel classes but if you played Galactic Conquest then it's pretty much the exact same thing as the campaign map wise except with a narrative added to it.

And Disney's fallback plan, if their new trilogy shits the bed is revealed when Thrawn says there's a "mysterious threat" in the Unknown Regions and new Gilad Pellaeon there is sent by Thrawn to the Chiss to help, either it's the fucking Yuuzhan Vong or something new, Disney is gonna take pointers with the ayy lmaos in the Marvel movies.

No, Timothy Zahn and the old EU writers don't do that shit, unless it's Karen Traviss.

Vid related

...

Karen "Canon Holocaust" Traviss, you mean.

Well… at least it wasn't written by Cuck Wendig.

"Gamer Gurl" bitch that fucking annoyed people with her "7 million clones fought in a galaxy of billions of planets against trillions of droids" went from writing gay Ultra-Mandolorians towards shitting the Halo mythos with more character assassinations and plot points that never pan out and was just a waste of fucking time.

Brote is not reddit.

That's what I think too.

The old EU writers don't like that book, but contracts are contracts, they have to say something nice to that fucking adjective induced diarrhea of a novel. It's pretty much dead when the EU's shitty books are looking more and more coherant and tasteful than the new ones by diversity hires and cronies.

What is it with women and gay fanfiction?

Fujoshits of the West, for a long time they have managed to make horrible shitty writing into a hundred million sales by dumb young future-to-be dykes, and as for Karen, she has a fucking tendency to be a moralizing bitch in any franchise she gets to write.

Okay, I get that, but what is the psychological makeup that makes them write godawful stories about non-gay men raping each other? I mean, yeah, men will draw their favorite female characters dyking each other from time to time, but it's not nowhere near the level of obsession women seem to have in wishing to make everything as gay as possible.

That too. I kind of liked that idea of hers where she stipulated that Jedi really are not good generals (and frankly, they aren't), but she does it in the most cringy, infantile way imaginable. She writes like a really bad fanfic writer out to demonize a specific group of characters they don't happen to like for whatever reason.

Dunno, most of image board discussion of fujoshit or hot gay sex writers is they want to self-insert themselves of the submissive gay faggot in relationship, also there's also the fact that these bitches are goddamn amateurs who never took a writing class or in Karen Traviss' case, she just regurgitates the same old shit while consulting "military experts" in the jargon and terms used for use in most of her novels.

What would have been best is for the eventual 3rd Force Unleashed to have a final level where you find that Vader had indeed planned for all the shit to go down the way it did and then you play as Vader (like how you start the first game) and have a final battle where you put Starkiller down.

>keep blade mode for perfect dissection fuck-you's

Can any of you fucks tell me about Talon and what sort of shit she was up to?

#HumbledHamill

I just want a new Rogue Squadron and Racer. And I don't trust EA to make them.

RLM also said they liked TFA so I don't really trust them anymore

I think it just boils down to this: the writers for the Empire stories are consistently more talented than the ones for the Republic. They probably tried to depict both sides even-handedly but the Empire just seems more believable, Imperial characters are more relatable, and the Imperial system simply seems more successful. The Republic stories have long suffered from Saturday-morning-cartoon-tier writing and I think that just makes the whole faction look like its filled with corrupt retards and goodie-two-shoes characters who are hypocritically blind to the failings of their own faction.

It breaks the whole series. Why the fuck would you ever use conventional weapons if you could just make a fleet of small, automated, hyperspace-capable ships and use them to swat down entire armadas with ease?
The Imperial Agent storyline should have had its own game, maybe some sort of TPS/RPG hybrid in the style of Mass Effect. When SWTOR inevitably dies that's the part of it I will miss the most.

Part of me suspects that EA purposefully bought the rights to, and then killed Battlefront so it wouldn't compete with their other franchises.

RIP in Peace, buddy

I think the Mouse got to his kids

more like #ThreatenedHamill
nobody likes this dumpster fire and everybody knows the unscrupulous mouse ain't very happy about it

That actually makes a lot of sense, rumor is they're going to get the SW license yanked by Disney though

I imagine him in a basement under Disney HQ with former Mossad agents telling him the other pinky is getting the hammer next if he doesn't tweet faster.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happened, but that rumor has been going around since EA's first Battlefront

FUCK YOU! YOU COCKSUCKING FAGGOT! I BET YOU PLAY WITH FUCKING DOLLS!

Maybe

There's more evidence of it occurring now since the head of Disney apparently contacted EA over the poor reception SWBF2 got and it caused both companies stock to drop pretty badly.

It was a shit rts that was just a clone of AOE2. It was even considered a really meh game at the time by reviewers. The only reason it gets a semi good reception now is because it's old and has nostalgia since it runs on AOE2's engine. Even at the time there were superior sci-fi RTS games like Tiberian Sun and Starcraft.

At least he didn't beat the dead horse by using "cuck"

That alone makes it a good game.

It wasn't as good as Aoe2. It just reused it's engine. The only reason people like it today is because of nostalgia for Aoe2. Not because of Galactic Battlegrounds as a game.

I imagine Hamill has enough money, I wonder what the mouse threatened.

Likely to sue him for all his money for breach of contract. At least Luke is dead now and his suffering is at an end.

It's unlikely they'd sue Mark Hamill. That would cause such a huge P/R disaster that it would sink the next movie. And Disney knows that. More likely they just threatened to not use him to voice the character in future spinoff projects.

Why would he give a shit if they didn't use him? He hates what they did with Luke, he hates the new movies and he spent all the time before release shitting on them. They threatened him with a lawsuit, just like they did with Ford.

Sure but Disney also owns other properties. He does do voice acting in addition to regular acting and doesn't want the rest of the industry going radio silent on him when he wants to do something else.

...

Yup, he doesn't want to get blacklisted

Punished Mark - A hero denied by his franchise

To be fair to DICE, the actual model used for Versio isn't anyone you'd turn your head for unless it's to look away. How do you even get those freaky inverted ears?

He can lie on Twitter, but his face right after he saw it after the premier doesn't lie.

Am the only one that finds it funny in that "The One" Knights of the Old Republic is a far more memorable character than any of the Nu-Disney ones?

...

He, of course, was bad-mouthing the movie at the premiere before he saw it, but the image works, I guess.

Translation: Disney said, “Take back what you said and apologize or we’ll get someone else to play your force ghost in IX and sue you so hard that you’ll lose the royalties to shit we don’t even own.”

Of course it does, but we know by now Disney doesn't give a shit about that. My point is invalidating their own work is whole new level of retard.

Sometimes I think that Knights of the Old Republic was genuinely more "Star Warsy" than the actual Star Wars movies. Bethesda had a fluke good game in Morrowind, Bioware had a fluke good game in Knights of the Old Republic.

He didn't say it was a great Star Wars movie

Kotor was just a rehash of all the neverwinter nights games they've done on PC master race, no wonder console plebs saw nothing.

I'm actually replaying KOTOR right now, and honestly it doesn't hold up as well as I remembered. The writing and most of the characters are pretty subpar for the most part and every single combat encounter is a slog at best and unwinnable at worst if you don't dump all of your points into melee combat/lightsaber skills or run around dropping a trail of mines like an asshole. Having fun being an edgy dark side cunt though.

"Great movie" leaves a lot open to interpretation. He's on record as saying that a good movie in Hollywood is one that makes lots of money. TLJ made lots of money, which makes it "great" from a Hollywood perspective.

I recently started replaying KotOR1 and the writing is significantly worse than I remember. I think it's still a good game for its time, and the writing is fine if you're playing it as a 14-year-old, but holy shit KotOR2 blows it out of the water in every way imaginable

Yeah the writing is just bad. The locations are cool, the Old Republic is probably my favorite setting, and there are some gems in there (like HK-47), but overall it's just not that great. I guess it really just stands out because there were no other decently-designed Star Wars RPGs at the time.

He doesn't want his life to end with a heart attack or a suicide by 2 bullets behind the head.

...

I enjoyed putting points into force speed and lightning in KOTOR, from what I remember they made dual sabers OP, I could be remembering incorrectly though.

What, is he trying to make his cowardly backpedaling a meme?

Dual sabers is OP in KotOR because you get 4 crystals, and the ability increases all stack (meaning you can get one to very high levels), instead of 2 more than any actual part of dual wielding.

Is the Bounty Hunter game any good?

Doesn't double-bladed get a 1.5x bonus from strength or something? I seem to recall that making its way in due to D&D rule bastardization.

Morrowind had a vastly different staff than the later Bethesda games. It was almost a completely different company from it's genesis to Morrowind. It was the second game Todd headed but it was clear he didn't have as much input on the project as some of the other staff. Compared to Oblivion and Skyrim.

Apparently Morrowind's development was so chaotic that it caused a lot of developers to leave. One of which said it was the worst project he ever worked on.

It also got a lot of criticism from reviewers at the time, mostly directed at the game's combat and people wishing it was more like Daggerfall. It's why with Oblivion they set it in a more Western province and focused more on combat.
This ignores games like Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, Jade Empire, the original Mass Effect and Dragon Age Origins

The original NWN was planned to be an mmorpg. Bioware almost made it one but they shifted it's focus into a singleplayer rpg with a multiplayer option due to technical reasons. It's why the campaign in NWN1 is so bad and why playing custom modules/the multiplayer is much better. Kotor by comparison just uses the game's engine and bares next to no resemblance to it in terms of gameplay, aside from Real Time with Pause. It doesn't even let you do the birds eye view.

The twist makes the game, without the twist Kotor 1 wouldn't have been as well regarded as it was.

Bioware also did a metric ton of worldbuilding since the Old Republic setting was barely established at the time so they invented a ton of stuff solely for it. Things like Kolto, Pazaak etc.

It's kind of generic, I also remember it being a little short. I know a bunch of people who really really like it but it's only really "okay"

Sounds more like a Disney PR executive wrote it themselves

This series should have been called "I Married a Saiyan", since most episode starts with Bulma worrying or complaining about something Vegeta is doing/did, or Goku about to do something that Chichi is yelling at him/will yell at him for. Then the every odd episode of Gohan being husband of the year.

...

Especially at the time it blew people away. I remember when I first played it when it came out I was stunned by it.

While it hasn't aged well it's influenced tons of games since then. It's hard to describe singleplayer games with RPG elements now without comparing them to Mass Effect.

By going Fishing.

a.k.a the beginning of the end for the company.

Skyrim is the real fluke, over a million sales, checking it right now the total number of owners is 11 million. Most devs would kill for those kinds of numbers Bethesda could've just did Skyrim HD instead of nuDoom and Fallout4 and ride on that piece of shit for 3 decades if they didn't touch the Modding community.

It wasn't a fluke. Bethesda made enormous amounts of money on Oblivion and Fallout 3. They had a pretty big built in fanbase on console. And Skyrim had enormous amounts of marketing and hype by consumers. I remember Harry Partridge even made a cartoon that was just him explaining how amazing the game was going to be. This was months before the game came out. Very few gamedevs have the fans hype the game up for them before it releases.

It also released at a really opportune time. It was before GTA5 (it would never have done nearly as good if it came out after GTA5. Consumers would've expected more from it) and it was at a time when developers were starting to scale back their games. Like I remember Jim Sterling at the time talked about how "Skyrim proves the industry wrong" explaining how a lot of publishers at the time claimed it wasn't possible to sell a game without a big multiplayer component with DLC. And the game lacked preorder DLC which was unheard of at the time.

It's very easy, actually. People do it all the time. In fact, when people mention singleplayer games with RPG elements I hardly hear Mass Effect mentioned. I more often hear Memelands brought up in that discussion because 'muh FPSRPG'

I've been reading the Thrawn trilogy recently and it's pretty good. Is the new Thrawn origin novel worth my time? Or at the very least the duology after the trilogy?

I hear Mass Effect mentioned so much, especially when a game has dialogue options or has squad-style combat. Like Deus Ex Human Revolution I remember was compared a lot to it. Since it had a Mass Effect style 4 dialogue options. Fallout 4 as well. I also remember games that were made more like Mass Effect later to try and sell to a wider audience like The bureau: Xcom declassified and LA Noire.

IS luke actually dead or is luke "forceghost" dead?

He disappeared the same way Obi-Wan did fighting Vader, so most likely 'force ghost' dead.

LA Noire was the stupidist one but then again "GTA adventure game" probably wouldn't sell so well.

He isn't dead yet because they might reuse him for Episode 9

The gamenight we just had for JKA was top tier.

i picked him as a kid because i thought he looked the most like me

Any decent mods for Battlefront 2 that make Galactic Conquest better or different? I'm not sure what to do after I'm done Galactic Conquest for all four factions.

Might want to check the credits again m8

Nigger.

Haha.

They may have been financially successful but that doens't make them "good games"

...

Filler? There's no filler, because the Manga is made afterwards

Those are all shallow, but still decent games with good overall composition.
Besides, when you get down to it, a grand majority of games, even those held up as "the best of all times" are mediocre, predictable and mechanically not very complex.
Many of them may have been revolutionary for their time, but today all that keeps them alive in the internet subconscious are faint happy memories.

You could give over six million arguments why the games listed are bad and they would all be valid.
I could shit on my own favourite games for various reasons and they would be valid.

In the end if a game keeps you interested and playing, then it is good.
If it does not, then it is shit.
The rest are details you argue over to pass time.

...

Fucking website my post didn't go through
Anyway the video is thread related.

It's almost as if a game being fun was it's actual purpose and those that achieve it are remembered fondly while those that do not are forgotten or shunned entirely.

But since fun since fun is subjective and we can' have any of that because it both invalidates our own choices and requires tolerating different tastes from other people, so instead we will cling to artificial qualities that are not universal at all and end up doing the equivalent of measuring distances in kilograms.

Also, "it's fun with friends" means your friends are fun, not the game.

Quality and quantity of gameplay mechanics or graphics isnt subjective or artificial.
That doesnt make any sense, if we go by your implication then any game would be good with such friends but many games arent fun even with good friends.

Yes, that's right.
Although a game you normally don't enjoy is probably not going to get any better with friends.

It's true that you can objectively observe elements of a game.
You can point out the flaws but that's about it, you can make no changes.
At the end of the day, the subjective experience will triumph over everything else.

I almost feel like I've reached enlightenment.
It's probably the lack of sleep that's making me light-headed though.

Quality doesn't describe anything, though. Something being of high equally depends on what's being judged and you can end up with paradoxical high quality turds.
Most AAA games have very high quality in terms of graphics and sound design for instance and Overwatch had high quality polish to it and yet I'm sure nobody would use any of this as an argument for something being objectively a good game.

Quantity of gameplay is equally non descriptive. You can have something with few mechanics actually being good or something with too much shit going on. There's a right amount of mechanics and there's things that belong and serve a purpose in the design and stuff that doesn't. That balance depends entirely on the game so in the end, it's equally non descriptive.

I said precisely the opposite of what you implied. Games that are "fun with friends" aren't actually fun, your friends are. Borderlands is the poster child here, all games are a mess of boredom but it's passable if you play with friends that make it fun. However the game is still boring, it's your friends that are fun to play with.

Vinny sounds like he has shit taste. Does he play overwatch or undertale?

He's a streamfag, he plays everything because otherwise he'd go under.

Why the fuck are we talking about e-celebs then? Who cares what a fucking streamer of all things cares about? They're like the lowest rung on the ladder, literal paid monkeys there to entertain people and pretend to be their friends for money.

wow this is fucking embarrassing

And down down down it goes~

Disgusting. It's like hamburger helper all over again.

Half the time he's complaining that the new movies don't respect, or make sense within, the Star Wars universe, the other half he's calling them the greatest movies of all time. I wonder (((why))) the paradoxical opinions.

I wouldn't say it just got fucked in 2 years, the raping of the franchise just sped up substantially.

Lethal Alliance any good?

The old EU really had a lot of signs it was run by fans. Huge contrast to Disney assigning people that hate everything about it.

Yeah if I were to decide to make some Star Wars fan project I'd pretty much memory hole the entire Disney "contribution".

RLM are a bunch of sellouts. They loved TFA (and made a shitty Plinkett review), praised Daisy Ridley's performance, saying that she's "charismatic as hell". They didn't like TLJ but they tried their best to hide it, just like a big part of the youtuber critics (Enraged Enrique, MundaneShill, etc.).

I can understand people actually liking TFA. It's essentially "A new Hope" but with shitty actors instead, so the plot has some passable and interesting parts clashing against the shitty dumb ones, but overall it's not THAT bad.

Howeer TLJ? Why would anyone pretend to like it? It's essentially the prequels all over again: pretty laser and space fights, a simple to understand plot and clear bad guys vs good guys, however it completely ignores the established lore and touches none of the interesting aspects of Star Wars universe nor does it do anything interesting with the concept of the Force.
Why would anyone pretend to like it when it's not even unpopular to dislike it?

I am sorry that you are retarded

Did you even watch their reviews? For TFA, their only real praise was that it wasn't as terrible as the prequels (and didn't claim it to be that high of a bar), and their explicit hope for the sequels would be to not be tied up in nostalgia bait and would do new things. TLJ kind of did, but it was obvious they were disappointed with the clusterfuck it was, down to the point where their "recommendation" at the end was a "it doesn't matter what we say, Star Wars nerds will go see it anyway, the rest of you ah fuck it" and the review ended.

And the Plinkett review was more about retarded fan theories and apologists for the prequels than it was specifically about TFA. And when he did talk about the movie, he mostly said that it was predictable and unoffensive entertainment, criticized the awkward "humor," reiterated the "do new shit" appeal, and even took fault with their diversity push.

That's not even getting into Rogue One, which was more or less a thumbs down from all of them, or their talk about the troubles the Han Solo movie has had. You can accuse them of being soft, but sellouts they're not. If they actually were selling out, they'd be able to go to advance screenings for shit and give nothing but praise for the latest shit the Mouse shoves into theaters.

Look, people liked A New Hope. TFA is basically the same plot but with other characters that require a truckload of plot devices to actually get going, but otherwise it's essentially the same story.
Prodigy is found on desert planet, escapes said planet after being chased and boards the millenium falcon, overly elaborate plan to destroy a space WMD, you must now go learn your lessons from a Jedi Master after confronting the sith bad guy and realizing you're not strong enough.
It's the same plot essentialy, especially since there were little to no philosophical tidbits about the Force in ANH as well.

The similarities end there since Ray is a fucking train wreck while luck is an actually likable character, Finn is a coward piece of shit that doesn't contribute anything at all while Poe plays the role of Han with none of the charm and Kylo Ren is the Darth Vader stand in but he doesn't look like a kickass villain you can respect and his character arc is even more shallow than Rey.

However the point is that if you saw TFA hoping for A New Hope instead of Phantom Menace, that's mostly what you got out of it, amidst all the shitty actors and story contrivances so there's at least a flimsy reason to like it.
However if you went to see TLJ hoping for the same thing, you actually got something that makes the prequels seem good in comparison.

...

...

They’ve already started removing reviews for “racism” and “sexism”, so the next round will be removed for “Russian collusion”.

Well they do keep killing characters left and right and even burning jedi ancient texts so it is clearly obvious that's pretty much what they are going for. I don't think Leia makes it past the next movie to be honest, but she's probably endured this long because she's a women and likely the reason they even made her force-sensitive to begin with.

The problem is that they aren't doing anything related to Star Wars to fill in the gap from removing past stuff. There's a whole planet about fatcats gambling away the money they got from selling weapons and all it does is serve as an anti-capitalist message.
There were several oportunities to use this as a decent part of the plot to talk about the war industry but it never gets more than a few minutes of discussion ever and it's always tied to a character being greedy and that's bad, not about the whole system being rigged and rotten from the start.

Then there's Snooke, who's race isn't explained, neither his origin despite this being the episode he dies and neither are his motivations told about. He's evil because why not? Same goes for Kylo Ren, who apparently was pen pal of Snooke while training under Luke and was tempted for the Dark Side for no single reason at all.

Luke tells Rey that he's gonna give her 3 lessons about the Force and why the Jedis have to end but the 3rd lesson is never told and there's a very supreficial talk about hubris and that's it. Compare to shit like Kreia, this was absolutely disapointing.

And the best part is that they never explain how the First Order came into power and why are they actually the bad guys. You never see their "reign" so for all you know everything could be peacefull and prosperous. I mean, nobody answers the Rebel's help request in the end, maybe it's because everyone's happy with their life?

Nothing, Nothing at all is done with the plot. There's no exposition about the political spectrum across the galaxy now, there are no backstories explained despite so many being way overdue now, there's a very simple tidbit about why jedis are bad, there are a lot of battles lost for terribly dumb reasons and in the end nothing was added onto the franchise that's worth remenbering at all.

It really was. Looking forward to the next one in 10 years.

...

I don't see the resemblance.

ebin

...

They shill for Ridley all the fucking time. They were paid to support TFA. Period.

Just read the Trilogy and Origin Duology, the new one is fucking shit, too many plot points is condensed and the writing is dumbed down for the Star Wars Rebels watchers which is for kids, fucking bullying is a plot point in the novel, absolutely fucking shit.

It was average but really forgettable because there's like several stories and games about stealing the Death Star plans (sorry Kyle Katarn stole it first)

People liked TFA because:
1. they're retarded
2. they eat up whatever shit is fed to them by their selected media outlet, all of which were paid by Disney to sing its praises
3. they were hungry for a Star Wars movie that they could identify as better than the prequels
You're probably too young to remember it but people were universally praising Phantom Menace at first too. It took a while for people to realize that it was actually a terrible film. I think in another year or two the marketing dollars will wear off and people will be willing to admit that TFA was shit.

charismatic as hell

You might want to go back and re-watch the reviews yourself. Their TFA review was universal praise from Mike and Jay, while Rich Evans sat there and tried to look not awkward about the fact that the movie was complete garbage. They showered praise all over Daisy Ridley (Jay said she was "charismatic as hell", to which Mike instantly answered "yes, yes" while shaking his head as if it was obvious) despite the fact that her performance consisted entirely of "wide eyes, open mouth".
The Plinkett TFA review was definitely pulling its punches, especially when compared to the bitter, sarcastic, critical tone of the Plinkett Prequel reviews. They barely spoke about the movie at all and spent more time griping about the fact that the entire IP is now little more than a soulless cash-printing machine for Disney (which is accurate, but not a criticism of TFA itself).
They've been open enough about Rogue One and TLJ but it's clear that they were paid to respond positively to TFA.

I mentioned this before, but I legitimately thought this was a poster for a horror movie until I reverse-image searched it to find that it was an edit of an Alien Covenant poster.

Really the thing about Kylo that bugs me the most is he has very distinct features not present on either of his parents, his maternal grand parents or maternal uncle.

Really having a bunch of characters steal part of the plans actually made sense compared to Rogue One. The Empire made the Death Star on slave labor and subcontractors divided across multiple planets. It's entirely logical that each group only had a small section of the total plan

Seriously. Even the fucking Holiday Special showed the Empire being dicks.

The anime would have been better if they made a long manga of DB Super with several arcs done beforehand to work off from. Then again, the manga does things that mostly address the complaints of the anime so you get a chicken an egg scenario. Would the manga be good or bad if it came out first before the anime? Or can we all blame it on Toriyama? The manga is still constrained by the ongoing Super anime but it seems the mangaka has a little bit more leeway at the start of the Zamasu arc to do some things that the anime doesn't do. Would have loved to see how they could have done a manga version of the Return of Freiza arc instead of just skipping it entirely to keep up with the anime. Maybe in another alternate galaxy, there is a good version of Dragon Ball Super that we'll never be able to see out there. Current Super is stuck between original Dragon Ball and Z and trying to meld them. Still fumbling with passing on the torch and any great villain that the next generation has to face without Goku's help with his next power-up.

whew lady

the last Jedi is projected to gross significantly less than the force awakens in its first few weeks of theater runs. its still going to gross over a billion worldwide so calling it a failure is disingenuous. i think this may be a reaction by people who were unimpressed with the first Disney movie and the word of mouth concerning the questionable decisions made in this one. I think china's been amping up domestic film production so i think that's probably drained the worldwide market more.

its more than that, he inherited a fucking mess from jar jar abrahms. there was no plan in place for what to do. what was still trash though.

The mouse estimated either $1.6bn or $1.9bn for TLJ.
It's a failure in their eyes and apparently they already plan to see Solo bombing hard.
They fucked up with TLJ and damaged the brand and any trust people had in it.

if they consider it a failure then the mouse really is delusional. theres no way this would have topped force awakens considering that was the first star was movies in, Jesus almost a decade, so almost everyone wanted to see it. The Last Jedi was never going to have that draw.
the last jedi is under preforming sure, a disappointment sure, but from a studio standpoint i dont think this can be considered a real failure, not yet at least.

Are there still anons playing on that NGE SWG server? Any updates on that?

Jedi Academy was trash.

your trash

FUCKING NOPE

We need to do that again some time. I wouldn't have minded sharing some contact info, but the server of empty by the time I came back.

Yeah that night was way too much fun.

You could probably beg for tox info on /radcorp/

Good God, it's bioware levels of trash all over again.
