don't bother with world unless you're planning on pirating. Pre-order DLC already, and the game just honestly feels like a massive step back in almost every department.
The maps are larger, but there are safe teleport points everywhere so in practice the maps are smaller then the ones on the older systems.
HBG/LBG had a massive identity crisis and lost what made them unique, and instead they now play like carbon copies of each other, and got a stupid as fuck SUPER MOVE. Horn got nerfed again for whatever reason, and GS is now about using a near invincibility move to just constantly stay on a boss.

user, I played the shit out of the demo and I enjoyed the FUCK out of it. Some things about the game isnt as it seems until you get to play it.
By itself MHW is a pretty great game, one of the better ones coming out in recent times. The weapons are more fun to use than ever and most of the new mechanics are really damn fun to play around with. The only criticisms you guys have about it is that its different than the previous games in the series, and that is undoubtedly true, but on its own or perhaps as a spinoff its a really enjoyable and good game. I'm not sure that its considered a step forward, but since its removing a bunch of the tedious and unnecessary shit in the series, but dropping some things that made MH what it is, i consider the game a diagonal step forward. I am mad that its a reboot though, but I heard a rumor about a MH portable 5 coming out on the switch though, that may just be bs though.

Honestly, I didn't play that much this year. I have plenty to fall back on. The Xbox collection I built up in 2016, the N64 collection I added to this year, the PS3 and 360 games that I haven't played or finished, plenty of Vita and PSP games, many emulated games, and the Nintendo handheld games from back in the day that I never finished. I'm only halfway into DWIII. I think.

Most immediately, I'm probably going to finish replaying a few PS2 RPGs. Playing Xenosaga II and Final Fantasy X-2.

I'm in the same boat as that other user, I have regular Sun and it fucking sucks. Too much handholding, the world is dry, the camera angles fucking suck and the shit to do is boring and tedious and the pokemon designs of the game have yet to wow me.

I don't know if Ultra Sun was any better.

Xenoblade is real time, but its combat system is more akin to MMO tab-targeting than anything else, so I can understand that implementing multiplayer would be pretty tough.

I'd argue one shouldn't just tack things on for the sake of it, but I suspect that might be how it got started with Tales back when Destiny PS1 was being made ("If semi-auto and manual modes allows controller input from the player, what would happen if we enabled it for the other character slots?"). Though it's worth considering Tales uses button mapping rather than a hotbar.

it's already pathetic stun values from Gen/XX got shit on again. the buffs AuL and DuL seem to do less than average making them 2-3 points extra on AuL for the horn itself. Performing got it's MV buffed, but not enough to make up for the fact that you can't reliably stun unless the monster behaves. It's not unusable, it's just the worst iteration of the horn.

Regular Sun & Moon had a better plot. Ultra replaced the best parts of the story with the less interesting Necrozma stuff, and even that feels unfinished since Ultra Megalopolis is completely empty.

It should have been a whole new game in the same region like Black/White 2 but instead Gamefreak got lazy, as usual.
