Get new job

Finally, all those years playing video games have paid off.

...

Are you a city planning engineer or some shit? How does it pays?

Go and work for san francisco and drop an alien on them.

Low level CAD guy, geotech engineer at larger firm. Pay is shit, but growth opportunities abound.

Anyway your job sounds fun, you have the entire aesthetic of a city through clicking and pressing buttons.

When do you build this user?

>>>/suicide/ along with OP

Why do you post?
OP is a faggot.

Yea that's why industry automation is a thing. It's more humane to make these people clean toilets than do the same fucking shit by the hundreds at a time.

...

Since I'm looking for the poo poo pee pee flood image from 2 years ago since I can't find it in my collection.

I gotchu fam.

Fug, but it's pretty cool feeling like Lewis and Clark.

Are you me? I work for a DoT and my job is basically simcity.

...

What do you teach, fellow tool for The Man?

...

Get a job as a housekeeper at a nice place.
You'll bust your ass, you get to work alone, and if you're good enough you'll make a lot of tips, which adds a sense of accomplishment.
It's what I do and I'd never do anything else short of going back to college moving towards working for myself as a graphic designer.

Health and PE
A bunch of fucking fatasses these days, I swear.

Tell me user, how much in your mind is "shit". These things are subjective.

All those years of googling solutions to video game puzzles finally paid off. Now I google solutions to software programming puzzles.

t. pajeet

Kids these days don't run up trees or play bikes for fun like they used to, that's for sure.

I went and downloaded an updated version of Cities Skylines because of this post and it still sucks. Traffic's broken, buildings still can't handle curved roads, there's no reason to not go green on everything, the pious fucking twitter feed is still awful. Fuck you.

(((cities)))

Finally, all those years playing Assetto Corsa and Dirt are paying off

I'm waiting for that too, wonder if it will ever happen
who is this job and how did you get it? would love rl simcity

I've heard that one before. Do yourself a favor and jump ship as soon as you get some feathers in your hat and a better offer. Also keep your resume updated and always be networking.

Finally, all those years of playing video games have paid off.

Build a city without roads and maybe someday I'll give a shit.

the 3rd image is comfy

underrated

Finally, all those years of playing Super Mario is going to pay off!

I wouldn't count your luck just yet OP. I took a similar position for an absurdly low rate too with large opportunities and got laid off before you could say Mississippi. Market is fucking trash for engineers right now especially if you're in a bad region like me. Going to have to relocate soon if I want to keep doing planning and engineering.

You could have used those math skills for a career that isn't becoming over inflated. You could have learned Theoretical Biology or Biostats.

Isn't there a really funny screencap story that was about an user who did this? I need to find this shit now
Please tell me someone knows what I am talking about?!

I don't know, but that's basically how I solve all of my relative's computer problems, and they assume I'm some kind of programming genius.

Thing is, being able to google the answer to a problem is a skill in itself. If you ask a tech-illiterate old fart to google something, when they're still at the "find me facebook.com" stage, they won't be able to do it. Half of the issue is know WHAT to do, and thus knowing what to search for, even if you don't know HOW to do it. Also how to filter search results, and how to determine which ones to trust and which ones to ignore.

You can't just tell google "help my computer isn't working" and expect to get anywhere.

Finally all those years of reading Holla Forums have paid off.

only good post to be honest.

It is normal to be depressed for not getting a job in 5 years?

Yes but it's also normal to be depressed when having a job.

DO IT, REN

That thread should be cherished, hope someone archived it. I remember being full autismal trying to create a farm town in that thread and the poo just would not cease.

I right screwed that post having too much of a laugh.

That's pretty cool, OP. Can you be a dick and trap unsuspecting residents on a loop road though?

It's horrible. I mean, I'm used to being "trapped in my head" anyway, but doing mind numbing work makes it torture. If anything I acquired a shitload of respect for the fuckers that somehow manage to do that kind of work for years on end.
The one day I got to work with some dude as a mover felt like a blessing with each cabinet and couch I had to carry.

...

what do you need all those butens for?
all you need is to go forward and back nigga

In the Shadowrun tabletop RPG, there is an actual character skill for it and it's called Data Search. It's very useful to be able to acquire extra info or maybe even a hacking entry point just by making a roll.

That's some next level autism.

that made me laugh,im planning enter a tecnical school for IT after 7 years being a hikki neet hows the industry for that shit anything i should be aware of?

Playing Starcraft literally set me on the path to being a professional programmer.
The rest is history. The job is pretty easy too.

That's fucking hilarious. Thanks, user.

The industry is pretty swamped at the moment. I'd say your best bet is finding a company that is low tech and bringing tech to them.

It's swamped, but everyone is always hiring. Now you've got tons of companies hiring domestically because execs are slowly realizing that maybe paying for $10 an hour delivery curry code isn't as good of an idea as it seemed on the balance sheet. Turnover is high in this industry, namely if you choose the wrong company to work for.
My advice to you, as a current professional programmer of 3 years experience (and already laid off once) is these points:
A bachelor's degree is unfortunately necessary for the most part. Many companies won't consider you without one, but don't even think about bothering with a master's, it's a complete waste of time and won't teach you anything you wouldn't learn by practicing in your spare time unless you are interested in complex AI algorithms and the "neuroscience" of computing. If you don't have the time or want to spend the money for a bachelors go to a tech school, and emphasize your portfolio if they don't bring it up in the interview – hell, make the interviewers feel bad if they didn't look, because they really should.
More important than your degree is your portfolio. Have a Github account and post shit there. It doesn't have to be complicated, and in most cases it doesn't even have to be finished. As long as you are actually practicing in your off time and posting shit there, recruiters will be impressed and so will the lead developers who will be there to interview you. (If the company doesn't have a lead dev weigh in for interviews, consider looking elsewhere).
Interviews are a two way process and a negotiation, don't get desperate (even if you are don't show it) and stay persistent. I had to go 4 months without a job after my first layoff because I was a retard and colossally fucked myself out of my next opportunity yeah I failed a drug test and the funny part was I had a substitute and didn't bring enough. That day was very shameful indeed. Keep in mind that recruiters are frequently very stupid, especially when it comes to software, and it will take time, sometimes even if you are skilled. Get used to "you looked like a good candidate, but we hired this guy with 2 years of experience just because."
Good luck.

Never played multiplayer at all.

thanks user this info will be useful in next year

...

But biology is boring

Fucking can't win. Probably used too many "big words" on my resume in an attempt to be professional.

...

Chris you fat fuck you only work 4 hour shifts

The worst is when you have an interview, they ask you basic shit you nail out of the park and then tell you a month later "You're not needed" without giving a solid reason why.
The fact most places are recursive in that you need experience to be hired there for an entry level position is absurd and is the reason I've been fucked over as a graduate.

That's because those people are low-IQ retards and junkies who have no other means of income and have been molded for grunt work but people like that go to join the marines now.

Man I fucking hate that shit. Applied to one job where I got asked the same questions you'd find on A+ certification test
Shit nobody would need to know for reinstalling windows because the customer had every virus imaginable, but that's the shit I got asked. Second job never bothered calling me back, I continued calling them but their manager was "on vacation" every time, eventually I got the hint that they were not interested. Another job I applied for just said they hired somebody else. Then if you end up going to school, there's a lack of jobs where you just get to fix shit, so you end up being overqualified for working at the only places around, which is usually bestbuy. The job market is such shit today, nothing pays well unless it's back-breaking labor or your benefits get sacrificed, and even some of the lowest entry level jobs are outsourced to illegals now.
Your best bet to make a decent living these days is either starting your own business and being self-sustaining or having a really good network with people in high places.

That's the problem I have. I'm overqualified for grunt work because of having a degree so I'm not hired; for jobs in my field I'm still not hired because I don't have a million years of experience to enter in entry level. I've applied to retail jobs and other minimum wage work and was still rejected, while I'm constantly rejected from jobs that require my degree. The only option I have is go back to school to get my Master's degree, but that would overqualify me even further than before and put me in even more debt for a higher tier degree that has so far hurt me more than helped my career goals.

I don't know if it's the region is beyond fucked or what. It sucks watching everyone else you know getting a good job and going in their career while I can only sit here feeling like a used napkin.

It works out, I get payed to have zero responsibilities, retire at 45. No regrets.

Finally, all those years sitting bored at my computer have paid off.

It's just all over the place, the baby boom is partly at fault for this, and corporations sponsoring illegals to rent out their labor to smaller business is partly to at fault, and low skill jobs hiring nothing but illegals because it's cheaper are also partly at fault.
Apart from an ever expanding population to compete with for job security, many things have been made "standard skills" and thus devalued, allowing more people to compete for the same job at a lower rate because they're easily replaced if everyone has that same skill, you're also competing with baby boomers who are over-ripe for retirement but wont give up their high paying job because they know social security is already in the shitter, they would never be able to live off it.
So your competition is:
the only fucking field that isn't saturated right now is medical, but unless you're going to become a surgeon or specialist you're fucked again because women typically go for nursing and now there's an over abundance of nurses with a shortage of actual doctors, but even then you'll end up working for St. Lukes because they buy out every hospital
Not even war would be enough to cull the herd and refresh the job market at this point, we're too high tech for there to be a lot of casualties from an all out war. Even with terrorists suicide bombing once in a while and nigs shooting civilians every day can't stifle the unlimited growth, as evidenced by the increase in number of murders every day but ever decreasing crime rate %.

It must be nice getting calls at all after interviews.

I don't think I'm doing this right.

did you ever watch welcome to the nhk?

Welcome to the worst part of interviews - trying to spin being on Holla Forums and playing video games 24/7 as a healthy, social hobby that enriches my life.

Yeah, watched it, read the manga, read the LN. ;_;

its all H1B shit in street pajeets and chinks
shave, cut your hair to look like an asshole, buy a brooks brothers suit and make a start up and take money from the dumbass boomers who ruined the economy

...

Remember to leave Holla Forums open in your browser for the feds.

is it just as boring?

That was me by the way.

i'd post the fed poster image if i had not already outed myself as a simple postal service worker

Most places I interviewed at use a contracting agency, or if they do it themselves use email for rejections. The two I do remember actually physically mailed me a rejection letter through the mail old school.

It's just such a ridiculous market and with zero direction I don't know how to get in anymore, even professional career coaches and the like I've discussed with are baffled.

Don't forget contracting and temporary agencies in there as well, fucking over entry barriers into companies with shit pay, no benefits and no job security. I had a job a while back producing expensive medical devices that paid almost the same as a line cook at a restaurant. I almost gagged when I heard how much money the company made every time I put a machine together. If even a line cook doesn't give much of a shit about cooking up a $10-$15 dinner per person, imagine how much of a shit I gave when I was producing millions of dollars of medical equipment a day at the near same payrate as the cook.

Oh believe me I know about those, my first job was paying me almost half minimum wage, despite having to know how to fix shit. Imagine my disgust when I discovered a walmart cart pusher made more than twice as much as me.

How do I get a job after being a NEET for a few years? I have a degree I just never applied for jobs because I'm afraid of rejection. Every application asks for references but I'm pretty sure nobody knows I exist anymore.

Work your way up in larger chains so you can get big bucks or split off into whatever you want to do with that experience under your belt. Or get some minor education in trade jobs so you can take on an apprenticeship program and move to whatever from there. Also every work field has a certified service for it in just about every state that helps you get some framework understanding and can lead you to contacts in said field. I currently am looking for something to do with metalwork in IL for example so I look up the IDES and look through their apprenticeship programs, unions and society's. Also it's mostly a meme but maybe consider a good community college to take some courses on. It can be full of sjw bullshit occasionally but from my experience every place I go to is only pozzed to some degree. There's always a few instructors or class schedulers who are more pragmatic and have their own method of teaching/advising. At the very least get a better grasp of what you want to do before you devote yourself to it. Basically don't be retarded and show up for work. It's not hard. Also jesus fuck people sage when you're not discussing vidya.

Your only option is temp agencies. It's impossible to get hired anywhere unless you "know someone"; your degree and previous work experience is completely worthless.

Not impossible. Really fucking hard though. You have to get pretty lucky without connections and/or experience.

Temp agencies can help you get quick work. Unfortunately it will probably be bitch work, but at least it's money. You could then just mass apply for anything related to what you actually want to do while still working and hope for interviews. They will ask about not working for 3 years though, so you better have a good story to explain that. Alternatively you could pursue more education or go the trade school route.

If you really don't want to be NEET anymore you'll have to face rejection, because it's going to happen a lot before you succeed.

That's pretty much exactly the situation my brother's in. It sucks because he's one of the smartest people I've ever known but he's never been able to get a job outside of these shady telemarketers that he rightfully left after a day or two because there are fuck all jobs in our region of our country, let alone full time ones. He even had to go on this really degrading and useless work placement programme (that ended up not working) where most of the people there didn't know how to turn on a computer. Beyond that, I have a friend that studied biomed, did work experience and everything and he still can't find one because he lives in a jobless region too.

I'm also reminded of how my mum recently applied to an HR position that paid better than the one she's currently doing, and she got rejected from it despite having 20+ years of experience in the field because she doesn't have a degree. There are so many jobs in this region that require a degree even when you wouldn't think that they do. It doesn't even matter what your degree's in most of the time either, it's just enough to have one as proof of education.

So are housing prices and cost of living.

See this shit makes me scared to move out of my small ass town. I actually have a well paying job that I was lucky to get. I don't have a degree so getting anything comparable anywhere else would be next to impossible. But this town is slowly dying, everything is closing down, and there are no women so I'm basically stuck being single.

I can't even get a job at fucking Target. This shit needs to stop.

...

You know you can upgrade from that class to a mechanic right? Well that depends if your said job has those perks or a union. Also in the same position but upgrading from the Grunt work to the big bucks.

You know what's worse than being in a town with no women?
Being in a town where the only women your age are fucking married and/or have kids already. Requires all the effort of being a gentleman without even the possibility of getting laid.

When I get enough money saved up I'm going to see if I can start my own business. My current job pays well enough that maybe in 2 years time I could do it, since I barely spend any money, hopefully my body survives this fucking job that long. My doctor thinks I might have skin cancer.

The worst part is when they don't tell you that they don't want to hire you so you think you still have a shot and keep calling them until you get the hint. HR personnel are actual soulless monsters.

When someone rejects a person because they are "overqualified", or because they don't have a degree, or because they don't have a fuckload of experience, it's just a cover. They're legally required to offer jobs opening to all people, when all they really want to do is hire another of the manager's family members or best friends or whatever. So they post listings with impossible requirements that they already know nobody will be able to fulfill, so they can say "look! nobody is qualified!" and then hire that Boss' sixteen-year-old retard nephew anyway.

Something I've never tried but that might pay dividends is a bribe. Noodle up to someone who works for some company in a middle-management position, and then ask him to "vouch" for you as a reference; as in, literally lie to the management that he knows you because you were friends in high school or whatever bullshit. Have it so you pay him like a hundred dollars just to do it, and then a thousand more if you actually get hired.

Literally everyone who has played this game has done this.

Hell I've actually done it on accident a couple of times.

That is what I meant when I said there were no women, ones that aren't are rare so even if they aren't that good looking they are very over valued.

my old job used to be teaching babyfaced army recruits how to interact and communicate with uav pilots when out in the field. 99% of the job was literally playing a flight simulator while talking to them on an instant messenger

Why government office job gotta be so boring?

It's also often a setup for getting foreign workers they can pay less than locals. For example: "Junior position, 10 years experience required" is a foreign worker posting.

Oh yeah, I see it all the time, especially with migrant workers. They are by nature of their home country willing to work for less, and know that it's slim pickings to find an employer willing to look the other way when someone doesn't have a green card. The thing is, it's to the benefit of both of them. The employer pays them under the table, so they don't have to pay taxes on it; the migrant worker is paid under the table, so THEY don't have to pay taxes. Meanwhile, the legitimate citizen employee of the same job does have to pay taxes, and the employer is incentivized to give them less work because they also have to pay those taxes. Also, the state won't offer ANY structured welfare to someone who doesn't have a fucking social security number, so THEY benefit despite collecting less in taxes.

The only one who loses in this scenario is the guy who is actually following the fucking law! It's just like how anti-piracy measures only hurt the guy who DOESN'T download the cracked pirated version. This is a country founded upon and made by bending or breaking the laws whenever convenient. If you're not doing the raping, you're the one being raped.

...

Migrants who are professionals who do get out of their country look for jobs elsewhere the western world because their own country is unable to provide fullfilling jobs for them. In fact, some countries don't even make an effort to provide sufficient jobs for their citizens and instead, promote them to go abroad and make a living. Some would probably not even consider working elsewhere if there were good local jobs, since: they'd rather not go far from their families and friends and it means less stress for them.

It just so happens that corrupt governments don't care, and employers like cheaper labor.

It would be nice if these supposed professionals made their own countries worth staying in instead of coming to our countries to commit crimes.

Thank God I am past that hell. Just like muh vidya james: the drop rate for a "job" is 1/1000 from tedious grinding

...

So hows it like being a good goy?

ITT

Lucky nigger. DoE is an unbearable, jewish hell.

hello fellow suicide attempt.

here work agency took over job market and are pushing people out of jobs by doing interviews with kindergarten questionares
and then offering them below livable wage.
etc. so they can bring dirtcheap Serbs, Ukrainians, Mongols and god knows what else.

I don't think i met true autism until I had a female manager. Their propensity for micromanaging productivity out of you to them bitch about it is truly horrifying.
