Over 60Hz

Is playing vidya on a 120Hz/144Hz monitor worth upgrading? Esports fags swear by them but those faggots love their snake oil.

120hz + is not snake oil shit. It's definitely helped me out in competitive games (though I don't play them anymore) and overall just looks good. As always, don't get the overpriced "GAYMER" garbage.

your eyes can't see more than 24 fps anyway

144hz is pretty nice t. guy who hasn't played anything besides Elona for the past month

there's a bit of an improvement, but the returns are diminishing and you won't be "doubling" the actual benefit like you would by going from 30 to 60.

it makes a world of difference in shooters. other genres, not so much.

Fuck it.
HARDWARE VIDYA THREAD
So, How's the Volta and Ryzen+ coming along? What chances are there for having new hardware come out in February/March?
Now, what 144 h/z monitor would you recommend that also had godly viewing angles, I don't want any TN shit. So it's gotta hit the sweet spot between IPS and some other possibly better liquid technology.

get a Sony GDM FW900 then

It's definately worth getting as long as your hardware can handle it.

144hz is great. It might not make a whole lot of different for gayman performance but it makes motion look a lot better.

I want to fuck Erin

If you say so.

This is the build I came up with over the past couple months. Tell me how much of a faggot I am.
I already bought all but the HDD, GPU, RAM, and monitor

I got a 250gb ssd for cheaper, an sk hynix 250gb one.

I was waiting for this post

It looks pretty good on games that actually hit around that FPS.

other than buying Win10 and not pirating it, i think it's bretty gud

the improvement (smoothness of 144 fps on a monitor that supports it) wasn't as good as i thought it was going to be but it's still exceptional, and on top of that i have no issues switching between 60 fps and 144

just go for it if you can afford it

Nvidia's CEO came out and said that Volta's complete but they're just going to sit on it for a few years because Vega wasn't good enough to force them to release it. I hope you like stagnation.

Buy a 56 and flash it with the 64's BIOS, it's the same fucking thing. You don't need a 1200 fucking watt PSU either, 600w would be plenty. I have an XF240H, it's alright but it takes a lot of tuning to get decent colors.

a very nvidia move right there.

This build has a lot of firsts for me, including having my OS on SSD. Do you use yours for anything different?

I'd delve into Linux, but I'm completely new and I'm not fucking about with OSs. I'm getting a toy from my work that's shutting down, so I'll try it on that.

What backlight bleed do you notice? any noticeable input lag?
I'll look into the vega 56, I've still got time. Too late for the PSU, though.

Pretty hyped over the AMD+Intel chips coming, since it means i will be able to put a small but powerful system and i ve been in need of something powerful but mobile and deploy friendly, but refuse to buy a gayman laptop because these things cost an arm and also the disadvantages of laptops vs a regular desktop system, thinking about a small ITX system

No i just mean paying for Windows, since if you plan to play games at all on the PC you need windows.

don't buy windows, its free. Get an 800w PSU tops, consider going in the 600-800 range. (1200W is for professional setups with render farm style PCs.) Get an external DVD/CD-RW, you won't use an internal one frequently enough and it'll be taking up more space in your tower.

It's a TN panel, so there isn't much backlight bleed but blacks and viewing angles are poor anyway. If you need great blacks and viewing angles but can't stand backlight bleed you want a VA panel, but most of those have pretty poor response times which kind of negates the point of 144hz.

I consider the visual effect to be about double. It's noticeably shit when it drops down to 60 after being 120+ for a while.

But OP, the human eye can't see more than 60 frames per second

Response times seem fine, I play a few shooters and this is the first monitor I've used that hasn't felt slow compared to a CRT.

They're all slow compared to a CRT. If you took a pic of the screen while turning with a high shutter speed camera you'd notice they're a blurry mess. It's why in-game text is so hard to read while moving on a LCD. ULMB fixes that (dramatically), but it's not practical for various reasons.

...

For the price I think it might be fine. Good reviews all round, and seems to do the trick with regards to input lag. I've never seen anyone complain about it, only the backlight bleed.
I originally planned to buy nvidia newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125954 but after looking into hardware v-sync, and the ~$200 premium for g-sync compatible monitors, I switched to amd.

Into the trash it goes

...

Comparing the piles of data WIndows 10 is confirmed to send home and what IME might be doing is deceptive, and it's a fallacy either way. Windows 7 is also free if you know what you're doing.

Am I missing something here? How do you even read this chart? t. brainlet

Nice try, NSA shill.

I'm not entirely sure either, but it should mean that some young adults can detect gaps as low as 2-3ms

That's how I read it too. Your brain is really good at filling in blank moments in your vision because your optic nerve cuts out whenever your eyes are moving to prevent motion sickness. That means that framerates can go really low before it starts to become noticeable because your brain is filling in the missing parts with pattern matching, but higher framerates still provide more information and a smoother feel.

Fun fact you spend about 40 minutes a day completely blind and you just never notice

144hz no, get a 240hz.

post more ebin

Sure.

...

...

Shoot me a source so I can bask in the anger and disappointment.

actually your eyes can't see more than 1 frame per second retard. That's how eyes work

144hz was surprisingly nice for even just general computer use, too.
shame 4k at those rates is still a bit of a meme

4K @ 240hz would be orgasmic.

Is this all from drawfags?

You underestimate how much we want to fuck erin

Everything is super smooth, but it won't help you if you're just shit at some competitive games like me.

most of it is Eltonel, the resident Vivian and Erin porn supplier

More frames = more input samples = potentially faster respomse time/lower latency

HOWEVER, there are also caveats. Poor frame pacing and server tick can be bottlenecks

As for single player games, you CAN see the different between 60 and 144 fps, so you should obviously try to aim for that, obviously it's not that simple, you need a monitor that can display those frames as well as graphical hardware that can take advantage. Also keep in mind a higher framerate benefits faster moving objects most of all.

What happened to her anyway?

...

I wish I could have one but I can't even afford to eat

The artist figured out that people who enjoy video games wanted to fuck Erin so she got canned.

Big difference, especially if you play FPS. But if you don't, then 60fps should be fine. Alot of console ports also fuck up if your frame rate is too high, so if you do play those, then probably avoid or have two monitors.

I can't imagine giving a group that much power over how you live your life. Must be a leftist thing.

They liked the porn and they got canned from the escapist who owns the rights to the webcomic
They now do a comic of Erin schized out in her apartment playing video games

...

How do you buy weed if you never leave your apartment?

The best weed is mail order.

Well they did it, I no longer want to fuck erin.

That feels like a great way to go to prison user.

duh you grow your own
although how does one get tens of kilograms of soil without going out?

Also it looks like she's taking prescription medication I don't think you can get that shit in the mail either.

This actually hits me close to home, besides the drugs though.

I want to fuck Rad Panda

(checked)
The image quality and immediate plot holes aside, I'd be there to fug the demons out of her while the panda watches. I've dealt with enough schizophrenics in my life to handle it.

...

since nvidia released their latest 1XXX gen the use the same GPUs in laptops and in desktops so their mobile GPUs arent gimped anymore and you can get decent >gaming laptop for under 1000$
but for the love of god dont make the same mistake i did by buying lenovo x520 >gaming laptop
the cheap chines fuckers put uninsulated ribbon cable connecting to the keyboars right next to metal plate which causes some of the keyboard keys not working

...

...

Is that how it happens? The X and Caps Lock keys on my Toshiba Satellite laptop both just went kaput around the same time. It wasn't even a gradual thing, it was just "Fuck you your keys no longer work now". Everything around them was fine and IIRC there wasn't anything stuck underneath them to prevent them from working.

So I'm looking for a new mouse. My main requirements are that the scroll wheel is silent, and is either smooth by default or has a smooth mode; has a hair trigger on clicking so I can click really fast; and is durable and easy to clean. Any suggestions?

Erin + Vivan is so hot

Is there more?

Are you a goon?

Since I've bought my XL2420T (a few years old now, there are better options nowadays), I can't play on a 60Hz monitor again. Also, permanently disabling VSync and not having any noticeable screen tearing is also another positive feature on this monitor.

That sounds like the dumbest criteria for a mouse purchase I've ever heard. For comparison, when I look for a mouse I want one with side buttons that are easy to use but not by accident, fits comfortably in my hand and has a sensor that doesn't completely fuck up when you move it moderately quickly.

G502 is on sale for $30 at Best Buy

...

whatever mouse that is durable and has a cool name, if you're really autistic you should care about muh 1000hz poll rate

These criteria have been chosen due to my autism using my current mouse, which my aunt bought for me for Christmas after the old one broke. The current one seems durable enough, but other than that everything I mentioned is a pain point this thing doesn't have.
As for your requirements, side buttons are a nice plus but not must-haves for me, nothing fits comfortably in my hands because they're giant and I claw everything, and sensor fuck-ups are almost never due to the mouse itself and are either because mouse acceleration is enabled or you're not using a mousepad.

Looks pretty nice. Question: the Amazon page said there were 11 buttons, but I only counted 10 (3 mouse buttions, 5 G-labeled buttons, the crosshair icon, and the refresh icon).

The G502 appears to have a kHz refresh rate, so that's not a problem. It's also RGB, has a 12k max DPI, and has programmable macro buttons for all the bells and whistles. I like it a lot. Any other important details I should look up before I buy?

The mouse wheel tilts left and right too. One of the two buttons in the middle is the mouse wheel free spin toggle.

Ah OK, I guess the toggle is the refresh icon button. The more I look at it the more I like it, especially for its price. Thanks for the suggestion.
Any chance you can help out with a keyboard? I'm looking for either something with Topre keys that isn't >$150, or something nice with Cherry Browns. Best I could find was a Cherry Brown Corsair with a red backlight for $89.

the g502 can catch dirt really easy due to it's physical design, the right mouse button is weird and not concave to your right finger. the ridiculously high dpi setting is not going to be useful, you only need it if you're rocking some bizarre 16 screen at 4k resolutions. The rubber on the outside of the mouse and feet/skates are kind of crap.
I would rock an zowie FK any other day as it's a similar size and has similar actual useful specs.

No idea, sorry.

...

i own Corsair Gaming K70 with mx brown
best keyboard ive owned

about the g502
the infinite scrolling is so addictive i bought 2 pieces
one home and another to work
also 3 main buttons (scroll wheel can be tilted left and right so i gues that counts for another 2) and another 6 G keys
the "refresh" button changes the mode of the wheel (infinite scroll or toggle scroll)

Regular G502, not the Proteus shit.

Oh, looks like the sale ended.

It doesn't look as bad as my current mouse, but thanks for the tip.
? It looks like any other right-click.
Yeah, but it's not going to be an impediment either.
Which parts are rubber other than the feet on pic? I can't really tell because everything's black.
Any particular model? There are a few different results on Google.

Well shit, guess the Cyber Monday sales are over. Darn.
It's still $45 on Amazon, so it's still an alright deal, but darn.

Thanks for the review. I'm currently looking at the Strafe, would it be much different? The only visible difference I see is the K70 Lux has discrete multimedia buttons and the Strafe has Fn-key shortcuts.

pirate win 10 enterprise
enterprise is to pro what ultimate was to home edition in win7

It's kind of hard to see due to how well lit the image is, but once you get your hands on the mouse, the mouse's right click is rounded, is not hollow inside like the left click button, where it's more suitable for your fingers to rest on.
The middle mouse wheel is also pronounced, but that's not a bad thing.
The rubber goes both ways, where your thumb rests (that left side you see with the side buttons) and the right side of the mouse has this rubber with less than subtle triangle indentation, very hard to clean without tearing the rubber apart.

These are details are never mentioned whenever someone says "g502 is really good", I have always questioned why no one has mentioned, maybe they're awed by the mouse wheel alone. You're also most likely and never will add in the weights to the g502 as well.

It's a mouse that does the job overall and after a few years of owning (the original not the rgb rehash) still works without any of the double clicking i hear from razer/steelseries products, but I wouldn't call a good mouse.

Most of the models are just a slight change to the shape, for example the ec series are designed for your right hand more. but the fk series are like normal mouses, but the fk+ is a smaller mouse than the fk, just pick the biggest mouse and roll with it.

That's upsetting.

...

t. Pajeet

Glorious.

Oh, that's what that meant? Can't say I've ever noticed a problem with that on my old mice, both of which have rounded curves on both mouse buttons.
If it's anything like the rubber on my other Logitech mouse, it's not that hard to clean as long as you're not trying to scrape something off.
Yeah probably not.

After looking into the Zowie mice, I couldn't find anything cheaper than the $45 G502, so I decided to buy that. Thanks for your input though, I'll keep the rubber in mind.

Look at the G Pro or it's cheaper cousin the G102 as well

Not obviously, immediately noticeable to be better, but still meaning less chance of giving you a headache after prolonged exposure.

Try changing the monitor refresh rate for the time you are reading 8ch. I find over 75 Hz to be far more comfortable than 60 Hz, long term. The reduction of flicker gives your eyes less strain.

Gigantic difference between 60Hz and 100Hz+ in FPS games.

After you've experienced 120 or 144Hz, going back is unimagineable (except for fucking dark souls which is capped at 60FPS, it's a 3rd person ARPG so it's fine but still)

...

nice meme shithead I bet you are brazilian

anyone who says you cant see higher frame rates is full of shit, sure there is minimal difference between 120 and 144 but 60 vs ANYTHING higher is so significantly noticeable. I fucking WISH there was a 144hz 16:10 true color factory calibrated monitor with small bezels 1ms responce etc… I would buy two and replace my overpriced u2412m's

Yeah, Windows 10 is a meme.

/r/ing monitor recommendations with the following criteria:

around $400 or less
1440p/2k
100hz+
no curved meme

Hey curry nigger.

You only see the advantages of 144hz once you use it yourself. I myself bought a 144hz monitor a month ago and now using a 60hz display feels painful.

if you have a microcenter near you get the CPU from there because theyre having a sale and the r5 1600 is only $170.
change the motherboard to the asus prime x370 pro, its on sale right now for $130 and has a $20 rebate. it uses a cut down version of their crosshair vi vrms (6 phase vs an 8 phase, but the same components)
like others said, just pirate the OS, get a vega 56 for msrp, if not, then get a 1070/1070ti because youre getting a 1080p monitor.
PSU is overkill, you could get a quality 600-750w and be fine. I have personally used the EVGA 550W G2, and I have no complaints. check out jonnyguru's reviews on PSUs to find a good one.

Erin x Vivian x Holla Forums threesome when?

DUDE WEED LMAO

Because Holla Forums is a good father figure.
Erin surely wouldn't mind

Made me chuckle.

I have experienced 120hz on an eMac running at 640x480 and it's pretty nice, if i had the money i would buy a high refresh monitor for my main PC.

How does that feel Mark, you fat cunt?

...

Let's live together and I'll feed you 💖🍆

Why is her imaginary friend the mascot for the furfag board?

LET ME TELL YOU A SECRET
75HZ IS THE BEST
Just enough to make it really hard to tolerate 60 afterwards, but not so much that you need to buy an overpriced GPU to maintain your 75hz

4k is a meme anyway. A lot of the improvement is lost if you're not right up against your screen. I'd much rather have steady 144 FPS over 4k.

Is that the new Batmobile?

Fuck, to this day I still don't know any aliase of this drawfag, he made some good stuff.
Anyone have any idea where can I get more of his art?

feels pretty good when i tried it on my friends setup played a level of titanfall 2 campaign. Im already on that 1440p meme, so ill have to wait for a card twice as fast as mine to come out (980ti right now so probably 1180ti or whatever they call volta) then im going to 1440p 144hz instead of 2160p 60hz.

hopefully by the time the hardware is out for 4k 144hz, then HDR will have sorted its shit out by then. there are reportedly some 4k 144hz HDR monitors coming but they use 4:2:2 chroma subsampling which looks like shit.

Erin and Holla Forums-tan are best couple.

how could someone look at this and say "Yeah that's what I want this character to go through" did we do this to her?

the G502 and G303 have the best sensor on the market, the G502 is fucking collosus heavy as a brick, and the G303 is a RTS / MOBA mouse for tiny asian hands.

why do you do this logitech why?

Perhaps.

A loli Erin, and checked.

Yeah, as much as I hate to say it, Erin got the Ouya-tan treatment.

We have to take her in just like we did with vivian and that retarded reddit bitch. This time Holla Forums will get a lover instead of a freeload- i mean daughters.

I have a 144hz and it's pretty nice but unlike the switch from 30 to 60, I have no issues going back to 60. I also don't notice it in a lot of games that I play, the one that it stands out the most in is Vanquish and a couple other shooters. Its also pretty hard to get some games to run at that framerate despite having a 1080 and i7, even with graphics settings turned down.

Hey, the board-tan daughters are pure and innocent except for communist cat

sucks for you

Commie cat is the leftypol pig BO self-insert. Remember that.

Why not have your daughteru as your lover? Two birds with one stone.

Commie cat is literally just a stray that is living in our house, even though we tell it to fuck off constantly.

Vivian isn't consenting, Erin is consenting.

1440p 144Hz monitor is coming in soon and I can't wait to see how many settings I'll have to lower for my crappy 750 Ti to handle this shit. At least I mostly play older games so it should be alright for Quake and whatnot.

That's just a meme resolution. You might as well have just stayed with 1080p and gotten 144 hz for that. I'll upgrade to 4k when I need to upgrade my PC.

Stop this. Vivian is for cuddle, not fuddle. Do not lewd the daughterfu.

It's unnecessary on its own, but the better panels are only being made 1440p+ to avoid competition with the glut of 1080p panels. Try to find a great 1080p gsync 144hz IPS panel.

Try to find any good gsync 144hz monitor. I've been on the search for awhile. Just when I thin I've found a beauty it turns out to be freesync. Why did I have to get a gtx 1080 fuck me.

I have two boxes, both with a GTX 1080 and a XB271HU monitor. They're not perfect, but they're great.

Jesus. Well that's ruined it for me.

Vivian is for being deepthroated by jews while she REEEs about "muh ethics" and "games journalists".

Porky is his subconscious self-insert, which makes those drawings of commiecat getting porked selfcest.

Does Tor protect feels, beta shitposter? Brace yourself:
I disagree with you.

I want a new 144 hz monitor but I made the mistake of getting an nvidia card. Now all the monitors I want are 800$ +. Fuck Nvidia with their gsync bullshit. I'm buying AMD from now on. At least freesync isn't horrifically expensive

Yeah, but freesync kinda sucks. If you want top of the line you go nvidia, if you want "value" you go AMD. Now you know.

Freesync and gsync is a meme and if you think AMD is any less jewy than nvidia then you're retarded.

Nah, they're really not. But you'll upgrade someday, laptop user.

Yep, it's a meme.

Into the trash

I'll look up examples of freesync compared to gsync.

Dealers have cars, user.

Is there any art of Vivian and/or Erin in wedding dresses?

Gross. Those fucking retching/vomiting sounds are haunting me.

They are a meme because they're both proprietary shit that both do the exact same thing. We should have an actual, variable refresh rate technology STANDARD

One thing not often mentioned to keep in mind is their support for borderless windowed is still iffy, if you'd normally be playing that way.

Oh, so like if they came up with an adaptive-sync standard and got it rolled into VESA it'd no longer be a meme?

I usually play in borderless windowed. Man fuck this, I'll stick to 1080p 60 fps for now I guess. Feels shitty knowing I have all this hardware but the only way to enjoy 144 hz is to go with 1080p or with overpriced 1440

I never even have to use any sort of sync in most games these days because they almost never tear.

If it's a quality level you can't get for less, then it's not overpriced.

Hey Holla Forums, I've got $80 in Newegg credit burning a hole in my digital wallet, what should I spend it on?

Sounds like you almost never notice.

Nvidia's jewery is ridiculous. They believe they're the most important hardware company on earth and expect everyone to bend over backwards for their shit just because Microsoft and crappy AAA developers already do.

Theoretically any graphics card with DisplayPort 1.2a support could do FreeSync if the drivers allowed it, but Nvidia and (((Intel))) are too jewish to use someone else's free shit.

I just don't buy garbage.

freesync is just AMD's brand name for VESA Adaptive Sync, which is a part of the DisplayPort standard and was long before FreeSync even existed or anyone ever even heard of variable refresh rates in the general consumer market. g-sync is different and uses a dedicated processor in the monitor to manage screen refreshes, supposedly (there is a G-Sync chip that costs $200 but nobody knows exactly how it works).

freesync is already a free and open standard, anyone can implement it for free, and HDMI 2.1's variable refresh rate support (part of HDMI 2.1 standard) is based on freesync/vesa adaptive sync. when you see a monitor says it has adaptive sync that means freesync, same thing.
intel said it was going to support adaptive sync with skylake generation but that hasn't happened even now in 8th gen. I wonder if they dropped those plans when they decided to go with AMD graphics … it seems like the Kaby Lake-G chip with AMD Vega graphics + HBM onboard is just a test, proof of concept, but if it goes well we may see more radeons integrated with intel parts and all the radeon chips have freesync support baked in of course.

Well. The truth is the truth user.

I forgot to mention that Nvidia's custom EGLStreams shit is fucking rubbish and even the few Wayland compositors that support it either tell you to use an older Nvidia card for the open source drivers or just switch to AMD. If you ever go full Linuxfag for whatever reason, stay as far away from Nvidia as possible especially if you want to use RetroArch's KMS support or fuck around with Wayland instead of X11.

also, I didn't read the thread, but 120Hz is totally worth it AS LONG AS you have the hardware to push >90 FPS average in the games you like. freesync/gsync are cool for casual games and stuff like civilization but for action games what you really want is blur reduction which is not compatible with adaptive sync. blur reduction uses a strobing backlight that turns off the display for most of the frame (pixel transitions) and only flashes it when the panel is finished transitioning. this has the advantage of not only removing smearing due to slow panels like high-contrast VA LCDs, but also removes the "sample and hold" blur effect. if you're really interested in this you can read up on blurbusters.com/ but the end result is that a blur-reduction monitor will literally make you better at fast action games and it makes them more enjoyable to play in general. it's a CRT-like experience (although you still have fully discrete pixels so it's not quite like a CRT).
blur reduction modes include the ULMB mode present in all G-Sync monitors, ASUS ELMB, BenQ Blur Reduction & DyAc, Eizo Turbo240, Samsung "MPRT mode", and a few other techs. if you are a gamer who plays action games, DO NOT BUY a gaming monitor without a blur reduction mode.

a really nice monitor right now is the MSI Optix MAG24C which is really cheap, has GREAT colors and contrast, and supports blur reduction.

Pixio new px277

Don't waste your time on a 144hz monitor unless you can afford two. Go 120hz instead. If you have a 144hz monitor, and a 60hz monitor on the side, if you play a video on the 60hz monitor then the fps on the 144hz will revert to 60hz. It's a physics issue. 120hz handles it fine.

It's a bunch of shit. 60 FPS is perfectly fine for everything. The difference is extremely minimal.

Love that game

what? lol
it's a windows issue, the same happens with 120Hz or 75Hz or any other refresh rate
you can get around this by disabling hardware acceleration in your video player and/or your web browser.

JUST

No it doesn't. I lowered my 144hz to 120hz and the problem went away. Didn't have to disable anything.

AMD is standard Jew. Nvidia is in a class of its own.

well your shit must be magic because I have six machines here with mixed-refresh display arrays and it does it on every single one, AMD and NV

It's a Windows issue, has been known for very long time. Windows will sync both displays to the primary one only, and if they're different refresh rate there will be stutter and possibly tearing.

Also note that Linux and OSX don't have this problem.

Damn shame that they can't play video games, which is what the problem stems from. Like fixing an injured finger by cutting off your hand.
Does disabling hardware accel like the above post said fix it? I have a gaming meme monitor coming in the mail and I plan on using my old displays alongside it.

What kind of martial art is that? I've never heard of it. Do they teach it on reddit?

I'd fuck both of them and take responsibility.

Just remove your old displays. Or attach them to a second computer for non-gaming stuff. Connect them in a local network with file sharing.

Good god, I want to fuck Erin. Where's that "did somebody say "I want to fuck Erin"?" reaction when I fucking need it? God dammit, must have lost it when my laptop crashed.

I have this, but it looks artifacted to fuck.

it's fine if you don't have anything using the GPU on secondary monitors
posting a picture of my setup because this thread went too long without an image

don't listen to this fuckwit just disable hardware acceleration, if you have a fast CPU you don't need it anyway

fuckoff goon, daughterfu (as stupid as it is) has been in use on this board for at least a year

posts like this are weird because my wife's name is erin (inb4 normalfag reee)

You are a godsend, user.

You lucky fucking bastard. I hope you and your wife will live a good life together. Also, cool, I can see my own comment.

pics of your wife, faggot

What a fag.
Post pics of you patting her.

Why is your keyboard split in two? also clean your desk.

it's a sub-category of jew-jitsu and since you're unfamiliar with either i deduce you clearly don't belong here
>>>/out/

gift from a friend who got a free review sample, it's a cherry MX ergo gaming keyboard, pretty much the only one of its kind in the whole world (the model, not my specific keyboard)

Sensor fuckups happen because you are using some cheap fuck office mouse and trying to play low sensitivity FPS. Basically ANY "gaming" mouse will never have them, it's one of the few tangible benefits of getting "gamer" crap. There are some quality non-"gaming" mice out there but unless you know beforehand you are taking a gamble every time.

There were lots of keyboards like that (sans LEDs) in the '90s during the ergonomic push, and they all had 'cherry' switches because shitty switches had yet to be invented.

really? can you post some?

the reason I ask is because there were no such keyboards. I was alive and building computers during the ergo push of the late 90s and there were some ergonomic keyboards, but very few of them were the "two separate halves" style and NONE used mechanical switches. membrane and dome switches had already completely dominated the computer keyboard scene long before 1990. nice try on the computer hipsterism though.
pic related, my first computer

Google "split mechanical keyboard"

I don't know if they existed in the 90s, but there are plenty now

yeah, there are split mechanical keyboards like the kinesis advantage, but none of them are *gaming* keyboards, which was the point. "gaming" in this case referring to the programmability.

Fuck off

Yes, but not if you want it for competitive trash shit because a bad player is a bad player at any FPS. The jump in quality from a visual perspective is amazing.

ergodox-ez.com/

ergodox has no macro support

It can if you're willing to implement them google.com/search?q=ergodox macro

yeah but i prefer something in the $400 - $500 range where no gaming laptop exists and also want to avoid problems such as dropping the thing and breaking it or having the whole thing malfunction and die suddenly.
I said deploy friendly because i mostly won't need to carry a monitor around since there is always one or more available where i plan to use it. I could buy a console but no way i'd ever pay for $60 games or other shit, hence the thought of a "console" pc

Well it's more common for me to pronounce it "daughteru" but you get the idea

if I wanted to futz about with OPEN SORES!!! I'd be a developer

#itdepends

LARPing against a guy over 40 is just going to be a losing battle, son. The PS/2 hadn't even run its course yet at that time and that was the mechanical keyboard the PC industry would shamelessly attempt to copy for most of the next decade. I used my Model M for nearly 15 years. And as an authentic Model M free of patent troubles it was buckling spring which was /fucking fantastic/.
Yes it was. Your whole generation learned about these from gaymer gear companies trying to sell you inferior switches to avoid the patent.

No u

Disrespectful, user. Be ashamed.

FreeSync isn't proprietary, it's literally Adaptive-Sync (a free standard) but given the AMD stamp of approval based on some metrics they don't publicly publish.

you're cute.
anyone who actually was there, as I was, knows that the model M a pale imitation of the real keyboard to have: the model F. my dad had a 5150 with a model F; given the price I naturally wasn't allowed to touch it. all you fucking kids with your unicomp "original PC keyboard" bullshit think you're a part of something special but the keyboard hipster rabbit hole goes a whole lot deeper than even know

yeah, they were still selling PS/2s and mechanical keyboards then but you're an imbecile (and more likely, a child) if you think they were the dominant keyboard in 1990

This is sad there's a reason as to why the fans treat Erin far better than it's creators they make her shitty on purpose so people would forget her but they can never make user want to hate fuck her so screw them.

Optimized that shit because the filesize is screaming WHY THE FUCK.

Actually let's take it a step further. Fucking .gif.

Sounds like your dad had as poor taste in keyboards as he did women. The Model M is in higher demand, other than for that pretty cool APL museum piece.
Take your redditspace back to reddit, 'old'fag.

Is "Critical Miss" still a thing?

That isn't reddit spacing.

This is.

Stay classy user.

lemme guess, cherry user?

>(((discord)))
why

...

Yeah, no.

...

Heh

cherry user

Congrats, user. You made my day.

...

He's right. I didn't notice it while playing on such a high hertz but when I was watching my little brother play on his laptop and he was getting 60 fps (apparently) I asked him if something was wrong with his laptop, and if he was sure he was getting 60 fps.
Its one of those things you take for granted after using it for a while though.

The day of 240 and 480hz is upon us lads. Do not look at the old 120/144hz. 240hz is now, and 480hz will come either next year in Summer or early 2019. Expect gsync+ulmb to work together in about a year or two, then 99.9% of all visual motion will be perfect to the motion sensitive autiste.

Interesting factoid.

How the fuck
Props user

The key problem with ULMB is the strobing ultra high brightness burns out your eyes even if it doesn't look as bright. I've tried to use it on various old games but couldn't take more than 30m. It does massively reduce blur, though.

daughterfu has been a thing since early GG days, though I prefer daughteru.
NEWFAGS GET OUT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

What did i miss here?

Oh, that cancer reactor thread of all the people who didn't realize it was time to go hard right as we'd tripped over a tendril of a western genocide. Yeah.. Maybe keep that there.

Worry not my good friend, ULMB becomes pointless when monitors reach 500+ hz. ULMB is only a workaround to reduce motion blur for monitors below the threshold of frame rates that cause motion blur. Motion blur every is reduced by half for every frame rate doubling, like 120->240 half motion blur, 240->480, and then 480->960. At about 1khz motion blur (the time a frame is drawn and held) is when persistence (another word for motion blur) is reduced to something like 1-2ms, which is not noticeable at all for moderately fast pixel motion.

Read Advantage 2: Motion blur reduction
blurbusters.com/4k-120hz-with-bonus-240hz-and-480hz-modes/

Type more coherently next time; I can't make sense of what you're saying in this post.

Anyone else really noticing the ghosting and blur on their IPS?

Shocking.

I only notice it on my XB271HU IPS when trying to read text I know I used to have no trouble with on my old 100hz CRT. Flipping ULMB it's like night and day to where if the image wasn't washed out as fuck it'd pass for CRT quality but it's not practical today.

Oh its a revoltard
topkek lad, how does it feel to be such an utter failure that you fell for "Gamergate+" of D&C?

I would stick with 1080p if I was only playing vidya, but higher resolutions are nice for shit like drawing, 3D modeling, and staring at code all day. 1440p panels are a decent compromise between resolution and refresh rate.
If my monitor wasn't shitting myself I'd wait a year or two for HDR monitors to go mainstream.

You're all cancer. I'm a ethnic nationalist, now.

HDR monitors will take forever to have proper support, likely after the next console generation. Don't wait on those.

I still think it should be written as how it'd be pronounced in Japanese, i.e. wife = waifu, daughter = dateru or something.

top right monitor is normally for my IRC client and my steam chat window, both of which I minimized to protect identities; top left monitor is normally for a media player music or video and it just happened to be music at this time (I am always listening to something)
main display (bottom right 27") is normally displaying a game but I maximized the 8ch window for the picture, and it's the discord web app not the discord local app because fuck tencent

you are literally retarded, I can only assume this is bait at this point, pic related

interesting that you have that problem, I haven't heard of anyone else having that issue (nor do I have it myself even after years of using Lightboost 2D and more recently ASUS ELMB)

the good kind of autism

It was wrong then and still is now.
I see you understand. Maybe you should heed your own advice?

okay friendo

One could say its almost like pottery :^)

nigger its pronounced incorrectly on purpose, stop being autistic about it

Doesnt make it any less incorrect, faggot.

you forgot two words
It's pronounced incorrectly on purpose by idiots

and people who bother to make a post whining about it are spergs, glad we settled that one

this makes me angry

Yes, there is a huge difference. You will never want to go back once you've experienced it. Even moving the mouse cursor on my second 60hz monitor feels painful now.

What's wrong with Cherry switches? Not a mechanical keyboard autist, I want to be but I haven't taken the plunge yet.

If I ever got the opportunity, I'd purify the fuck out of her with my benign headpats

What was the deleted post?

She's not blood related, it's fine.

the average detection for young adult is about 55.5 FPS (1000 msec/ 18 msec) and for older adults, it's around 45 FPS (1000 msec/ 22 msec). The standard deviation is probably over-assuming the real range of detection, as it would have been nice to know the actual lowest and highest gap detections in these people that were measured. Simply put, unless you go and test yourself to know that you can see past 60 FPS, there is a good chance it's sufficient for what you are doing.

nothing's wrong with cherry switches, but some people prefer the feel of other switch types like the classic buckling spring designs found in the model M and model F keyboards, the ALPS mechanical switches, the Topre capacitive switches, or even some of the new mecha-membrane stuff

pic related, it's my keyboard on my work computer, a topre clone

Too lewd for Mark, apparently.
I saved the image but it would probably just get deleted again.

Recreate it in oekaki, loser

Sorry user, this is incredibly shit even by my own standards but I can't sit up for medical reasons and drawing curves or constructing figures from this posture is fucking impossible.

I ordered a 1440p 144Hz 16:9 GSync monitor on Cyber Monday.

My heart is aching through my wallet at me.

How bad was it? I just finished my first gaming rig, ran me $1500 in all. A similar Freesync monitor ran me $370 plus tax on sale.

ur gonna die lol

Just post it on imgur or something and post that link here.

I like your version for entirely different reasons.

$500 thanks to sales. I splurged on the $50 4-year warranty because it seemed worth it.

that was it?
I'm shocked a Jew has problems with homosexuality

White korra ended up as bad as the brown one.

My rig cost a little over 1.1k and that's not including a video card. THANK YOU FUCKING CRYTO MINERS AND FAGGOTS DRIVING UP THE COST OF BASIC COMPONENTS. 150 FOR DDR4 16G KIT. I was going to buy it the weekend before cyber Monday, but it sold out. The only reason I was able to nab this one was because I have to get up early for work and I got an email notification on the price alert.
TOO FUCKING BAD MY SAPPHIRE DUAL X R9 270 ISN'T DISPLAYING THE COLORS CORRECTLY BECAUSE ITS FUCKING OLD AND IS LOCKED AT EITHER 4 BPC OR 6 BECAUSE I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE ABLE TO GET A NEW CARD BEFORE THOSE FUCKING KIKES MINERS SHOPPING ON NEWEGG HAD TO BUY ALL THE AMD GPU'S OUT BEFORE I CAN EVEN WAKE UP
IT'S MY FAULT FOR BEING IMPATIENT AND FOR FRONTING THE BLACK FRIDAY MONEY FOR EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY WHO ARE BEING JEWS AND BRING UP EVERY $5 OR $10 THEY LOANED ME INTO GETTING OUT OF PAYING ME BACK EVEN THOUGH I SPENT WAY MORE HELPING THEM OUT BY BUYING STUPID SHIT THEY WANTED TO BUY ONLINE OR ON SALE IN A STORE.
Portrait mode on a 1440p monitor while reading manga or browsing 8/v/ is great. I switch back landscape and I hate it already.

What are you complaining for? You're right, it is your fault for being a stupid nigger; just say no you oxygen thief. Step up and stop being a betamax faggot or do everyone else a favour and kys.

I fucking feel you, m8. That vertical monitor for reading does sound comfy, though. I do a lot of game-related reading because I'm more /tg/ than Holla Forums nowadays and I've got like a billion .pdfs, so I'm looking forward to that.

I have a crt that goes to 85hz and an lcd that goes to 60hz. It could just be the lcd being shit but I think I've been noticing a difference even from 25 more frames/herz and this time the 60hz monitor isn't trying to sync to the 85hz monitor

I still wanna fuck her

like clockwork

Please correct these serious issues.

Why? What good does that bring to anyone?

iirc if you're running Windows, generally Windows will throttle the monitors to the minimum displayable framerate.

Nah

Depends on the game. Really helps in competitive rhythm games (BMS, Osumania).

When did you order the monitor? I ordered mine Monday, but Newegg says it won't get here till next week.

Huh, maybe the VM is doing it somehow? I honestly don't know. Sorry I can't help you out more.

...

Nothing?

I ordered it on Monday around 4am. I got it on Tuesday at 6:30pm. I just think I got it faster because I live in the LA area.

Apparently talking about the Switch but not praising it to high heavens is console war shittery.
t.guy who posted that as a reply to

he was right to ban you in the first place
>>>/cuckchan/ and stay there

That must be it, I'm on the East coast. Worst part about this is that all the other parts should be in by tomorrow.

Yes, do it

Already did, monitor came in a short while ago and I'm slowly realizing just how underpowered my 750 Ti really is. Running anything but older vidya on it at anything higher than 1080p 60fps is fucking madness and getting The Talos Principle to even hit 60fps at 1440p is a nightmare, let alone 144fps.

I'm getting a new computer with an RX 580 soon. Is it worth upgrading to a freesync monitor or should I just stick with my current one?

If you already have a 120Hz or 144Hz monitor, don't bother. If not, most 144Hz and 240Hz monitors these days support it and it's easily turned off if you want to shave off a few milliseconds of latency so there's no sense in avoiding freesync monitors.

Daily reminder that most monitors that come with blur reduction are so fucking bad, that it's pretty much snake oil tier.
esreality.com/post/2796866/144hz-megaguide-br-x-syncs-busted/

If you are getting a new monitor, then yes you should always get one with freesync/gsync (whatever matches your card).

With freesync, just make sure the range is decent. If it bottoms out at say 44hz, and your fps is bouncing between 30 and 60fps, then you may have issues.

fucking hell memory is expensive. why is it so expensive?
good on the ryzen though, those are revolutionary

It's what they always say: You die a cock-thirsty cartoon or live long enough for your creator to ruin you. and then die

a buzzword used for sales pitches

The artist is probably just lazy

Yes she is, you degenerate.

...

DELETE THIS

Did this finally get finished? Shit.
Care to post the rest?

"most" monitors that come with blur reduction are TN panel displays that are, yeah, fucking awful
whoever that absolute mongoloid is he has no fucking idea what he's talking about, seriously, like this
only 1 is actually even sort of true, and it's only as much as half of what he said if your monitor is properly synchronizing strobes to refreshes (which, yes, some monitors do fail at). his 2) point is actively backward because blur reduction actually makes response time specifications meaningless BECAUSE you only see the image after it has fully finished transitioning, which means you can reduce or even disable overdrive circuits completely eliminating ghosting and overshoot.
strobe crosstalk can be a problem but again as we mentioned some blur-reducing monitors are just garbage (LG…)
overall his data is just wrong or falsified, he simply doesn't know what he's talking about. using an IPS or VA monitor for fast action gaming without blur reduction means you get to enjoy a lovely smeary blurry display because the panels aren't actually fast enough to finish refreshing the entire display before the next frame is sent to the monitor, but the strobe effect hides the transition period so it appears to be much smoother and clearer (it isn't actually, but your eyes don't know that)
why do you even respect this guy? he's just pulling shit out of his ass; one of us is an engineer here and guess what–it's not him

Pops, I hate to break it to you, but I think its time to move on.

Nothing, they aren't god awful loud like others and autists hate quiet shit.

gonna move on ur mom kiddo

That's it. If you're thinking of the E3 comic that's still a wip. I remember something about him doing it next e3. So we play the waiting game.

That's disappointing to say the least, gay to say the most.

I believe you are quoting the part where he was talking about tearing. I mean, isn't it better to just have 500 fps, instead of turning on vsync?
But that's the entire problem he is having. Even if BR was useful most monitors he got so far are fucking garbage, that are either build around the same shitty tn panel, or just have defects in general.
But is the technology accurate enough on practice to achieve the goal?
What's wrong with LG?
Because you sound awfully similar to a snake oil salesman and he is a butthurt russian that can barely into english grammar.

You should teach us the ways of image compression user
