GSC just posted this on Twitter, how fucked are we?
Haven't played S.T.A.L.K.E.R in a while after finishing SoC for the 13th time with Autuumn Aurora 2 in August. Still can't stop thinking about it, even while playing other games.
What game/mod are you playing? How do you think Sergey will rape a Stalkan game in this age of vidya mediocrity? they delivered Cossacks 3 well enough though, even if the game is nothing but a Remake of 1 archive.is/6jDwU
It's probably just Sergei alone in his office pretending to be relevant.
Christopher Ramirez
Holy shit, Stalker 2 manage to be SoC on a bigger world with some CoP improvements, it wont be that bad.Yes were fucked Ive being playing Last Day, shit can get insane very fast, at least if has some addons to make it bearable.
Isaiah Stewart
Why are there so few games about operating in the cold?
Evan Myers
...
Gavin Richardson
Snow is boring as shit, too uniform and color pallete is too limited, only good thing about it is that its easier to spot niggers when its present.
Hunter Hernandez
Can't be as bad as Clear Sky, right?
Honestly, at this point I've come to terms with the series being dead. I can still play Call of Chernobyl to death and dick around with mods, so I can just ignore it if they were to make a new one and botch it. 3 games isn't a bad number to end a series on.
All in all I do hope they'll get to do some new fun things with it since they've been working towards this for quite some time now. Would be a shame if the slavic jew fucked it up.
Joseph Carter
Maybe if you're a massive faggot. There's plenty you can do with it.
Oliver Mitchell
If the gameplay was like Escape From Tarkov(Which has an ex-STALKER dev on the team) a STALKER 2 like that could easily be saved by mods. But I don't trust Sergei to deliver anything of note.
Lucas Garcia
I'd rather have a dynamic season system. That would be the logical step if you look at the current weather system, which I think is still holds up.
Brody Murphy
I just don't think I could live with the dissapointment.
Like what? Pissing on it and then eating it?
Jaxson White
So I put about 50 hours into this game but then changed hard drives and lost the save.
How can I get back into the game and what mods should I use ? When I played I had it as close to vanilla as I could, with just a bug fix patch so the game doesn't crash every 5 seconds and I think a graphical patch.
Oliver Smith
Isn't that garbage pay to win?
James Cook
Either play through it again with ZRP, or if you feel you've had your fill of vanilla, try something like Autumn Aurora.
Nolan Thompson
S.T.L.K.E.R.2 in the unity or unreal 4 engine screwed? Or S.T.A.L.E.R get rebooted as a POBG battleground clone screwed?
Michael Reed
I don't know. It's in beta and the core gameplay mechanics seem fun and that's what matters when you're talking about what they should be aiming to do with a potential STALKER 2
Caleb Richardson
I doubt this means there's a STALKER 2 in the works, I don't see how you see any indication that this is what that's implying.
I assume you mean SoC, if you're 50 hours in you must have either beaten it or gotten pretty damn close. If that's the case move on to the other games. You can skip CS if you want but I think it's worth at least one go.
I'm not in the loop with this Sergei autism. Is STALKER kill? Should I pirate Call of Pripyat?
Gavin James
The problem with winter/cold environments is that most games never try to do anything interesting with deep snow aside from slightly decreased movement speed. It's always just some white texture on the ground or some minor shit like that. I have yet to play a game where you can bury yourself in the snow and wait to ambush your enemies.
Chase Lewis
anons are updating Call of Pripyat`s X-ray engine, also pooling all the work from all the other distributions its now 64bit and everything
Jayden Turner
Can you use the games with it or is it fan games only?
Ryan Powell
...
Joshua Barnes
Hey I’m playing SoC for the first time, first time playing the series, no spoilers please but I have a question.
When does the game open up? Hearing people talk about it made me expect a sandbox, but so far that fat Russian guy in a basement has been pretty direct with orders and seems like there is a main story path I’m on. I’m getting by on the scraps I find about so there doesn’t seem to be wide range in ways to equip. I just fought through some military dudes and through some sewers with monsters (first I’ve seen.)
Really enjoyable game so far.
Easton Lee
Yes and Yes. Sergei is a dickbag who bought up GSC, ran off the staff and now shovels royalties from Steam sales into his Ferrari Tinfoil hat: There is no way in hell that asshole doesn't have Mob ties
Easton Gray
The only sandboxes are the random NPC events thanks to A-Life and when you finish the game. aside from the Call of Chernobyl mod of course S.T.A.L.K.E.R has a linear narrative but lots of optional shit as well, no not the fucking shitty random side mission fetch quests, I mean outside of that, from decision making to optional content. SoC and CS are like that
Call of Pripyat is more open, but the atmosphere suffers for it for the most part and its still not a sanbox. Its still great even if different.
Austin Nguyen
There is a main story path which you are supposed to follow, but if you decide to do the side shit too, you'll be taken all around the Zone, but that only comes a tad bit later. The game should open up once you get to the Rostok area, also known as the Bar area, before that you're pretty much confined to the Cordon/Garbage/Agroprom/Dark Valley area. Even when you do get to Rostok the game still has kind of a linear progression as far as story goes and even the side quests that you get in the Rostok area take you around the new areas most of the time, with a few detours to areas that you've already visited. As said, the CoC mod is the only true sandbox when it comes to STALKER games.
Carter Taylor
I played CoC about a year and a half ago, it's pretty fun. Heard some things here and there about CoM, is it worth playing, and how do I install it?
Julian Watson
Could I slap this onto CoC and have a merry time?
Asher Baker
Graviteam tactics simulates fighting in blizzards, tanks will get fucked off of roads fairly reliably.
Gabriel Wright
CoM is a lot better than Misery for CoP is, for what that's worth. CoC with Doctor X's questlines, Lost to the Zone and Lost to the Zone Living Legend is a good experience also.
Dylan Hill
Do any of the STALKER devs beside Sergei work at GSC anymore?
Parker Stewart
I have to ask, why don't people consider the three existing games to be STALKER 1, 2 and 3? Wouldn't a new game be the fourth instead of the second?
Carter Morales
Shit taste from a subhuman that has never been outside and played outside, let alone, in the snow. LET IT SNOW
Nathan Cox
all they have to do is 1. remake CoC on a new map 2. add more polish and more shit to do 3. add storyline missions and sidequests and boom new top tier stalker game sadly this is the post 2010 game industry so they'll undoubtedly fuck it up horribly
Leo Richardson
To be fair, winter in games can be great as far as atmosphere and aesthetics go, but if you don't put a lot of effort in it just looks bland as fuck. That being said it would allow for great gameplay changes, too.
Mason Mitchell
long dark is shit
Christian Gray
What happened to him Holla Forums?
Did he die?
And if he did, did he die for our sins? and the sins of the lazy writer?
Adam Myers
The usual theory is that he is either dead or that he is Charon from SoC (the Monolith guy with the Vintorez), since the ending of CS imply that he's either dead or serving the Monolith.
Isaiah Martinez
Same thing that happened to the rest of Clear Sky, either fried or converted.
Dylan Thomas
It was shit though and they even brought over old bugs from the 1st game that they never fixed, not to mention they went full DLC whoring with C3 too
Carter Roberts
Could be fun.
Levi Bennett
>the last thing you see is a face under the ice
Oliver Torres

Josiah Clark
What's the general rundown for each of these mods, I got halfway through SoC vanilla before my PC died so do I really need to play vanilla because I get the vibe of it already.
Samuel Jones
Play autumn aurora 2. It's a polished vanilla game with minor changes like a few new weapons, different hud etc. and a comfy autumn look.
Easton Butler
...
Jose Bailey
In CoM moddb page theres the steps to install it and the files for download. Dont know why they didnt give it the Last Day treatment yet, of making a standalone package.
CS 2.0 with even more linear sections making Limansk, the Hospital and the Reactor sections to run for their money ? not counting DLCs and "solution" that could make it sterility for mods
Colton Howard
There is nothing bland about winter. You are in a sandwich between the heavens and earth. You either lay out or peel your eyes like oranges for the animals on the horizon.
Asher Wright
We're talking about video games, genius. Yes, if your winter in a game amounts to nothing but a different colour palette it's boring as fuck. You need actual hard work on the snow and weather effects and gameplay consequences for the cold. I have the feeling you didn't understand my post.
Jace Allen
Sandbox maybe wasn't the right word, not in the Ubisoft/Rockstar way. I just want to get some choices that make the faction stuff relevant.
I'd seen people complaining about how the shooting is wonky or something but I'm playing it on hardest setting and I think it feels pretty good. Though trying to shoot the pistol is about as inaccurate as I am shooting for real hah so maybe that's it.
Jaxon Howard
The spread mechanics were only a means to make item progression meaningful. Its also a casual filter And it works wonderfully both ways right at the beginning.
And yes I understood what you mean by sandbox and no, you'll have to look elsewhere but vanilla, though you have some really neat options on how to approach some objectives and choosing or knowing how to balance factions can be meaningful depending on how yiu look at it. Just don't expect some major world change as a consequence outside the ending.
Caleb Edwards
There are faction-related choices in SoC, relating only to Freedom or Duty, but there is no real benefit to joining either so it's a waste honestly, it's best to just stay neutral to both. CS is the first one where factions become more relevant. You get faction wars which is a very neat idea on paper, but in execution it's a mess, mostly because it's buggy as shit. CoP retains wheeling and dealing with various factions, but there are no half-functional faction wars this time.
Brody Flores
Cryostasis had that mechanic, it was pretty nice.
Colton Gonzalez
First batch quit in ~2006. Second batch quit in ~2008. Third batch may or may not still be around.
Connor Carter
Ho boy do I have a game for your buckaroo.
Charles Jones
God have mercy that anyone that falls in drowns first.

I just downloaded Call of Chernobyl what are some fun addons to slap on top of this thing?
I tried moving anomalies but that resulted in one spawning in the middle of the Duty base, NPCs did not seem bothered by it
Jace Baker
It's not pay2win, it's just a free-for-all battle royal currently. It might be a better game when they implement the factions so it's not just kill on sight
Ayden Long
They haven't added any feature were the Stalkers can avoid anomaly, they made them 100% immune from any effects of anomaly instead. I don't know if the version 1.4 is going to change that or not.
Gabriel Martinez
The official facebook group admin. He's a friend of sergei. He's also been running damage control over the orignal cancellation. He alleges sergei scrapped it because the game was turning out to be more like clear sky and less like shadow of chernobyl but this sounds more like a directing failure.
Either way its back in production.

The first three Stalkers are all part of one storyline. Stalker 2 has its own storyline. It's the like GTA games.
Chase Diaz
STALKER 2 isn't on the agenda. GSC constantly posts STALKER related things whenever the series goes on sale.
Liam Wood
While I'd love a setting of Winter in the Zone, I'd be more interested to see a Zone that has almost been stripped bare, few artifacts, fewer people, wide open spaces with hostile anomalies. Though it has to be said: Frost Anomalies
Parker Price
Source?
Thats true
Blake Hernandez
Well, I see the appeal of grand feeling of solitude and a barren, empty world which is for the most part dead. That being said, how do you keep that from being boring. One thing that I always pondered while walking around in prypjat in both soc and cop was, how great it'd be if you could actually enter all houses(even if you had to get a bolt cutter or some other tool) instead of having these constant door textures/blocked stair cases as a reminder that you're playing a game. But that brings up a similar problem: If you leave all this space empty it becomes too boring and would feel like walking around a multiplayer map of some fps by yourself, on the other hand if you fill it with too much stuff you lose the feeling of solitude and decay that the zone needs(apart from the problem how much fucking time you'd need to invest to build and fill up all these appartment blocks with stuff). So, where is the line between too little and too much items, npcs, mutants and artefacts? I'd love the idea of having more open and wide areas like big fields etc. in any case
Isaac Sanchez
Just look at their Twitter account. From October 5th,
When nobody is there to kill them, mutants tend to breed. Places like Rostok might now be a bloodsucker nest, overrun and fearful, the survivors might have run to the Army Warehouses, or south to Garbage and then to Cordon and out of The Zone. Think of Bandits as their CoP versions: neutral until desperate, just more aggressive loners. While you can still have factions, instead of ideological basis, have them being old-timers who are just fighting out old grudges. The Ecologists learned all they wanted, the Army have pulled out to keep mutants at bay around the expanding edge of The Zone and so on. If Sergiy could pull his team together to work on the 4A engine or retool the Xray engine to improve it further, we could have more dynamic AI in the forms of the floating balls of lightning more akin to what we saw in Metro 2033, 3D gasmask overlays and a purpose for them, even better lighting and possibly even throw in some shitty 1-use home made weapons that the player can CRAFT.
Logan Sullivan
im confused, what the fuck is going on?!
Xavier Rivera
That almost sounds like you'd go in a vague direction towards survival horror. Though if you actually remove places like rostok as hubs/save zones you might run into the problem of having to actually travel quite far to trade, restock on things. That might be tedious. Well, why are you even there then? You need some kind of motivation. A few old grudges wouldn't motivate many people. Also, the ecos leaving would mean there's no more mysteries to the zone which would kill a lot of the atmosphere. I like the idea of the gasmask being more important and putting in other survival mechanisms that go beyond "take this drug to avoid this environmental hazard". No idea what you're talking about, but then again it has been ages since I played metro. Or are you talking about poltergeists?
Grayson Rogers
So after playing CoC a bunch I noticed it seemed to take place in the middle of the year.
Whenever I see the pictures they seem to be wearing thick coats and things like that, wouldn't it be hot as a motherfucker after a while?
Jack Lopez
As I said earlier, it's Sergei alone in his office pretending to be relevant.

Julian Gomez
For Call of Chernobyl: Original Weapons Renewal or Arsenal Overhaul? I dont think they are compatible.
Camden Bennett
Tbh it was kinda bound to happen since GSC tried its luck with reanimating Cossacs earlier this year, now we only have to wait for official announcement
Noah Stewart
Well how much guns do you want?
Jose Watson
all of them
Daniel Perry
He's the guy in exoskeleton in the basement of the theater in Prypiat (under the monolith sculpture with all the artifacts some monolith guys worships). It's the only Monolith guy with a fixed name (Charon, the one coming back and forth from the land of the dead… which is what Scar is) and he use his signature weapon which is how referenced he's referred in the other games "the guy with the vintar BC" (which for a boss at that point is fairly weak).
Angel Powell
Go with AO3 then I usually go with OWR due to specific animations if the magazine is emptied or not, it has less variety though than AO3 though.
Chase Robinson
Well, ao obviously has more guns than the weapons renewal. Although I personally like STCoP more.

Adrian Butler
Horribly buggy, imbalanced, and outright broken. It's only popular because reddit loves memeing it.

David Rodriguez
Okay. Thanks.
Nathan Hernandez
Just use Moddb, it has all the files needed and a step-by-step instruction to install it.
CoM is only ok-ish because of the CoC maps and NPC quests, that lets you grind money in a more "dynamic" way. The knife and weapon tiers and repair autism is painful. Most of the issue can be solved by letting to get gear in ok condition from dead boy and artifacts to cost a huge amount, at least it unfucks the retard grind.
Jayden Hill
I tried but the download would give me a "download timeout"
Matthew Hernandez
its a dayz styled game imagine pubg but with anomalies that do almost nothing shitty artifacts you can get the better artifacts if you pay for them you also get loot boxes you can only join renegades, merc and freedom as starting factions and need to spend 90 hours to reach loner
Asher Wood
You forgot how there's also female Stalkers now.
Tyler Turner
Imagine the porn…
Robert Gomez
that would make no sense to the freedomfag who tried to bone a bloodsucker
Michael Ward
The bloodsuckers are the female stalkers. One really lonely bastard made it to the Wish Granter and asked for female companionship and love in the Zone. He got it, but the Zone is a jealous mistress and will allow only her daughters to satisfy her men. Regular human women drop dead from severe neural disruption after going more than a km or two past the border.
On the plus side, stalkers no longer have to worry about being drained dry of their blood when they poke around swamps and abandoned buildings. On the negative side, they're still in danger of being drained of an entirely different fluid, and bloodsuckers are universally clingy and a little obsessive once they find a target. Duty hates the entire situation, but reports are coming in from all over the Zone of Freedomers drunkenly cheering and running into known bloodsucker territories without any weapons… or pants. All other factions remain iffy and vary by individual proclivities, although rumor has it that Sidorovich has been trying to get together a group of the girls as a "tourist attraction". Greasy, dirty bastard.
Nolan Lee
kek
What, did you throw away the other one? Only have one hard drive in a computer at a time? Why didn't you save or backup your data?
People that don't feel compelled to post shitty videos that weren't even good when they were first made.
It's not Bethesda/Witcher 3/etc. style sandbox, much smaller than that, but you aren't forced to speed through the quest. There are two areas you can't get past without getting far enough in the questline for reasons you'll know when you get there, but careful veterans have been able to run around the entire zone in freeplay without completing the first quest, and the A-Life AI has very interesting behavior in this case. You can see with enough experience where, when, and how A-Life behavior will change as you progress through the story.
Are you retarded or something? He didn't steal the company, he IS the company. It's named after him. He's a faggot but he didn't steal the company.
Fact. Scar is Charon. Charon is Scar.
You need to 100% the game on vanilla before doing any mods. Every one of those mods just makes minor changes and content restorations.
Oh you poor, desperate fool. Tejas Stalker? He's as trustworthy as a fart when you're suffering from diarrhea. This fucking faggot, who forced OC makers to delete videos they made on youtube because supposedly Sergei got offended by a "freedom thinks duty are nazis" joke, shilled the fuck out of the Areal scam and pushed it as being 150% legit the entire time it was up. He chases off actual important community members, ones that deeply documented all of the alpha and beta builds, out of the community with his faggotry. He's not even a moderator, he's just the kind of arrogant that's actually arrogant as opposed to "HURR U HAV ANY CONFIDENCE AT ALL UR ARROGANT BE A SUPERBETA LIKE MEEEEEEEEEEE" and condescending/passive-aggressive enough to drive anyone away. GSC forums are dead because of him. It's not happening. Cuckchan Holla Forums namefag LARPs are more likely to be remotely true. Look at this shit, could he suck the dick of Sergei any harder?
What a shit moderator.

Can somebody please explain the obsession with these games? Between this general and it being mentioned as some holy grail in near every recommendation thread, it's probably the most shilled for game series I've ever seen. And all this for something that's pretty bloody mediocre. What is the appeal of this? Just that it was made by slavs?

It's probably the most open first person shooter with functional ballistics and realistic combat functionality and that perfect sense of dread, fear, loneliness and paranoia coupled with the immediate and regular fatality of the zone.

It definitely looks like shit, but Roadside Picnic took place in a fictitious town in Canada so having a North American setting for something Stalker-related isn't completely baseless. I'm thinking more along the lines of a stealth game along the lines of MGS/MGS3, except without silenced weapons and chokeholds. You need to sneak around just to infiltrate the zone, after that you need to avoid any soldier and anomalies while searching for artifacts. You can grab weapons, but it's not advised, the sound could warn guards and you'd be dead before the casing hit the ground.
Jose Miller
If you think I am, fucking report me, or ask some fucking mod to check my post history. I am not who you claim I am. Beyond that, I hope you have a wonderful day, nigger.
This is also true, there's also no guide on how to reproduce the proposed numbers, or where the files to investigate this are.

I mean, between Tarkovsky and Strugatsky, there was setting precedent, but she also should have had a tail and been covered in fur.

Roadside Picnic was set in Canada though, and that's basically America already, as much as the infernal leaves may bitch about it.
Ayden Ramirez
You know the book is set in Canada, right?
Sebastian Carter
Hey man, if America ever gets free of jew dominance, Canada will become its own nation just because it won't be getting flogged by blue jeans and rapefugees.
Christian Martinez
The best thing that could happen to Canada would be for someone else to conquer them, anyone really.
Jokes aside, I liked the general feel the trailer was going for, but it suffers from the same shit that plagues every American TV show, where they need to shove in retarded family drama for frustrated cunts that can't stay in the fucking kitchen. And they'd waste 50% of the running time on that to save on costs and pad the season out. Also, those hazmat suits look like fucking trash.
But Canadians seem to enjoy the beatings.
Nathan Collins
From a newfag perspective, of course. But you're in a thread full of anons who have seen me post the exact lines multiple times when challenged. At this point, I've explained it enough times that it's well-known. Instead, I'll just let you know that you're in the same boat with the other little bitter newfag who has done nothing but make a fool out of himself the entire thread.
Hudson Jenkins
Also you should know it takes a magnitude more of effort to disprove a lie than it is to create one, so you better get fucking cracking, especially since you haven't actually done anything, it was the other fellow. Keep sucking dick.

Thanks for the recommendations, all good stuff and Last Day is great.
Now that I've been playing Last Day a while I've also added these addons.
cHUD Because I always hated the Misery-style brown Health/Stam bars, they blend in to certain world textures too well for me so I found myself looking at the sky and stuff to be able to judge my stam drain rate. Quieter Things The fucking boom noise every time the untranslated messaging system goes off is horrendous. It sounds like a modern movie or trailer stock sound.
I'm also using Improved Conditions because it seems absurd that every rookie carries a gun that is a couple shots away from violently exploding like they're from Far Cry 2. Now there's a a just small chance the gun is that bad.
Connor Nelson
Not everything can be adapted into a game, Roadside Picnic was great inspiration for STALKER but it wouldn't make for a good game itself.
Leo Gomez
Any bug fix patch for vanilla? Last time I played I lost my 45 hour save because of a crash and put down the game for a year.
Michael Barnes
What, did you rely on auto/quicksave only?
David Rodriguez
I save every hour or so, the thing is the game crashed and all my saves including the auto saves got fucked. Every time i tried loading the saves the game crashed again.
Zachary Taylor
What version are you running? Of all the crashes stalker does, that's never happened to anyone I know.
Josiah Wilson
Am I really fucking expected to believe that cossacks 3 proves anything? Am I really expected to believe that? Is that meant to be the game that was worked on for two years and released in 2016, and that this proves anything? Did GSC release another game in 2016 that I never heard about?
Hunter Smith
That might've been canceled, but I've got bad news for you. There's another series which has already aired recently.
Oh, then show me o' great chernobyl veteran. The Makarov is shit and that is a fact, have you even fucking tried shooting it? Its so fucking weak that the knife has a higher DPM compared to that piece of shit.
I think your saves got corrupted for some reason
Aaron Turner
I should return to SoC, but I kinda want to add some mods to spice things up and see the stuff I missed, even If I already have the true ending spoiled every time I replay it I dont get past the first bloodsucker for one reason or another and I dont have the drive to start from scratch again, I was thinking OGSE, RMA, Zone of Alienation or Autumm Aurora, the latter one feels like it changes a bit too much graphically
Gabriel Clark
Fucking spanards
Alexander Hernandez
On something like AMK:AE or AA2, where the gunplay isn't shit, you can definitely clear the Cordon checkpoint with a mak on master with a little patience, some good aim, and proper positioning. Vanilla is iffier, and you'll need to get really close to reliably land headshots with the mak to take advantage of super bullets.
Aiden Collins
How did they miss the point of STALKER so badly? HOW?
Robert Edwards
don't worry, the real ending just has you either joining or destroying the evil thing that created the zone 30 minutes after you discover that it exists. it's kind of retarded either way. slavshits don't know how to write.
Ryder Hernandez
It was, in fact, the easiest thing to google. It was in the first page of results. Don't get huffy just because you don't know how to use a search engine.
Jason Evans
To be honest I would watch this with a STALKER quality russian dub. Shit was hilarious.
Juan Jackson
Disgusting.
Easton Kelly
The thing to remember about accuracy is that it's affected both by what stance you're in and more importantly by weapon condition, the game just doesn't update the accuracy stat you'll see when comparing guns to show the effect condition has. Also sometimes the accuracy stat you see will be inaccurate due to other factors.
William Sanders
Lost to the Zone, Doctor X's Questlines, if you want a UI mod to remove the minimap and STCoP with user's accuracy tweak.
Pretty sure that's actually a 'feature' from CoP rather than SoC or CS so it should be possible to fix.
Gasmask overlays are normally overdone, if you actually try wearing one it ends up sort of blending in to your normal view.
It's nowhere near as bad as normal Misery but you'll still want to open up some of the config files and tweak the economy to be less retarded.
Understand that STALKER is a perfect FPS-RPG blend which also pulls a top-tier bait and switch with sudden and unexpected slavic horror and SF elements pretending to just be a straight innawoods FPS. Unlike something like NV or even Deus Ex it manages to have RPG elements without them feeling like artificial stat checks or numbers overlayed onto the underlying FPS gameplay. Of course this is just a (1) and done weebshit post so it's probably bait.
Slavs have a different approach to difficulty than everyone else, SoC's first mission is actually on the easier end of the slavic scale hell SoC is polished by slav standards.
Isaiah Myers
The easiest way to prevent this coming up every thread is to edit this with details on where to dig up the numbers and the test anons can perform for themselves that is explained on ZRP's page.
ZRP.
If you pay attention there are hints to the existence of the C-Con and related technology from even Agroprom, you just have to make sure to read everything the documents contain which weirdly is dumped into your PDA's diary. The issue is they expected most players to be slavs (specifically slavs into both vidya and films like STALKER) and so to have a solid grounding in slavic SF. Muh noosphere, muh conspiracies and muh secret government underground labs are almost cliches in slavic SF, normally there will also be some form of depressing time travel shit going on too and there was indeed an anomaly or two like that that got cut and reappeared in CS/CoP.
Adrian Robinson
I could, and probably should, but watching the autistic meltdowns that regularly occur when newfags are told that they're wrong about the difficulty mechanics is a guilty pleasure of mine. The ridiculous shit that they'll make up to try and support their argument, when everyone else knows that they're wrong is fucking hilarious. Now, if someone comes in and politely asks how the difficulty works, I'll happily explain it to them.
Parker Ortiz
It would be better to have all the evidence in a single image, that way anons on either side can test things for themselves.
Hudson Mitchell

Bandits and monolith should be switched on that alignment chart. Monolith are killing to expand the zone, they have a cause and beliefs. Bandits kill anyone just because they want your shoes or cigarettes or they feel like it.

Gavin Jenkins
When you consider that they started out as scientists developing super-weapons for the USSR (and thus living through the 'perfect' socialist society) their actions make a lot of sense: political solutions clearly cannot account for (or prevent) human failures so the only way to truly solve things is to fundamentally change humanity. Of course that goes wrong too.
Luke Allen
Speaking of mechanical things, since the new explanation for time_to_aim are superbullets, what is the explanation for doing shit for damage when shooting at the center of mass, even if using high-powered weapons against the lowest bitch-tier enemies?
Dylan Myers
They want to rid the human mind of many emotions and capabilities and who are they to change the spiritual/esoteric makeup of mankind, it doesn't take a genius to figure out these guys aren't well-intentioned, and as e2b0d4 said there are hints scattered around early in the game and living in the Union molded them while trying to make a better world based off the failures of the Union.
Austin Fisher
truly enlightened tracksuit wisdom, thank you based slavs
Jacob Murphy
Your damage is getting reduced by whatever their model's armor value is (hit fraction, found under damages.ltx), and then two out of the three chest hitboxes have 0.5 multipliers. Setting the following will nicely unfuck that, assuming vanilla weapon damage.
You could also disable super bullets for each weapon (set use_aim_bullet to false), and bump up mutant head damage (4.0 is a happy medium) to compensate.
Brayden Butler
speaking of SoC, do I have to do a new clean install to get rid of Shaders Max? I just used the full performance preset but I think I like the original look better
Easton Edwards
I tried getting into SoC again. I'm having some fun and I enjoy the immersive atmosphere, I still can't really get a grasp of the combat. It's very hit and miss for me, I'll have the pre-emptive shot at close range and they'll all miss, or I could rush in and burst fire and they'll drop like a bag of nickels. Any tips for a scrub?
Brandon Ward
Did it overwrite any files? If so yes, if not just delete whatever it added.
1. Use single fire for anything beyond point blank range. 2. Know that crouch and low crouch are much more accurate (also use iron sights). 3. Weapon condition and ammo choice affect accuracy too, this isn't displayed in the stats. The former is very important early game since you'll mostly be scavenging guns. 4. Early game weapons are less accurate than stats might suggest. But if you want to hit at range when the enemy aren't already aware of you take some time to crouch, set fire modes and aim before pulling off a few single shots at each target (aim at the upper part of centre-mass unless you've got a good scoped rifle or are close enough to ensure a headshot). Use leaning from a position of cover too if possible.
Dylan Morgan
Frankly it just sounds to me like you need to git gud. I'll give you a hint: it's called tactics. map is CS version but that's what I found quickly through bing because efficiency
Speaking of youtube, beware if you want to share stalker exploits in video form. Some kike is filing false copyright claims on the soundtrack claiming it to be part of "stalker 2" soundtrack to steal ad shekels.
Vanilla, mods, it all works. You just have to be good at the game. Masterful intellectual tactics.
Nathan Lopez
I figured, I made a habit of iron sights, and I had a feeling crouch/low crouch would improve accuracy. I also heard the pistol you start with is a PoS pea-shooter, and compared to other weapons it definitely feels like it. I do make sure to keep my firearms in good shape, always looking for places to trade them. Thanks for the tips.
Adrian Miller
The starting handgun is indeed less accurate than the stats would suggest. The ammo used has its own additional accuracy stat that almost doubles how inaccurately it fires at range compared to what you'll see in the inventory. Throw in possible damage (lower condition = lower accuracy) and there you go.
Anthony Johnson
I bet you died 20 times on the mines before reaching that conclusion

Well, yeah. With SoC, we've got lots of medium-sized, well-populated maps, with high content density. With CoP we've got a couple of gigantic, sparsely populated maps, with very low content density. If I'm roaming Zaton or Jupiter, there's a pretty good chance that I won't encounter anything on my way from one point of interest to another, and with such large maps, that can really pull you out of the experience. Not running into other stalkers is one thing, but where's the large roaming packs of dogs, boars, herds of fleshes? Traveling should at least be somewhat dangerous, but as long as you're not near one of those little point of interest markers, there's probably nothing to worry about. No bandits, no mutants, hell, no artifacts either. Also the CoP stash system is awful, and you need to actively avoid them on additional playthroughs so you don't ruin the game for yourself with massive quantities of easy loot.
Jaxon White
Playing STALKER OLR. Man, that shit is jank as fuck. Maps are cool, but very little loot. If any single soldier on Cordon notices you, you get a psychic chopper pelting you with rockets (this is made worse by additional soldier patrols in the area). Agroprom is very different, no underground but also barely any military presence. Eastern complex is anomaly-infested. The Bar is very different geographically, large open town with lots of empty buildings. That is how far I got so far.
Jace Moore
Okay hold up, you're talking about 'base' in Cordon? It's not even a base since it's so small and I got confused with the actual military base over at Agroprom, but yeah i jumped the gun on the reply there. The Makarov is still a piece a shit though, you can't deny that.
Well yeah, i had cleared both of the Cordon Checkpoint easy on Master once i ditched that piece of shit pistol and went for the sawed offalso i think i might have picked up an AKSU from somebody, its not a bandit though, might have been a dead stalker. Then again, at the railway checkpoint i just used the RMB of the knife to kill 4 guys in a tight spot, so it might have just been luck
No
Nicholas Reyes
actor.ltx for damage resistance and hit probability. Weapon ltx files for damage (keeping in mind that hit_power values are inverted in that file, which is very easy to test yourself by modifying knife or makarov hit_power to be something like 5.0 whatever whatever 0.0 and testing it in rookie village while changing difficulty).
I don't know if all these people who demand proof are dense, new to stalker generals or simply trying to fetch some (you)s, but all this shit is incredibly easy to test empirically.
Dominic Walker
By checkpoint I mean the actual checkpoint leading into the cordon, not the guys at the bridge.
Actor hit probability is in the defines file. The one in actor.ltx only works for explosive fragments. Yes, it's retarded.
they're asking for help this late in development (and in english too). This is either a sign that most of the Russian devs left or they're gonna run into a shit ton of problems of having the dev team divided into English speakers and Russian speakers. having a language barrier like that has never worked well for any project ever.
Honestly sounds like a mess at this point. But this is what happens to mods that take longer then 3 years with no tangible results. the team inevitably breaks up.

Honestly that Don't Starve island DLC ironically enough gets as close as I've seen to what you want. The different seasons have their own challenges including somewhat dynamic weather that forces you to quickly adapt and plan ahead. The game itself is pretty meh though.

when do I have to meet Guide exactly to get the true ending? the wiki says that I should talk to him before opening the stash under Agroprom with the flash drive, but Im not seeing him anywhere on Cordon

didn't the protagonigger have a daughter with powers in the original film?
Michael Taylor
Yes, he did. She was afflicted with what is generally seen as a curse amongst stalkers, where upon the stalker's children must bear some kind of anomalous nature.
In the book, Red's daughter was nicknamed Monkey because she was basically turning into a fucking monkey. though not necessarily a nigger
In the movie she appeared to be mute with telekinetic powers and possibly unable to walk on her own.
In both the movie and book this is made tragic by how much Red loves her unconditionally.
An interesting note from the book. Red hated Vulture partly because of all of this. Vulture's children came out, a daughter and son, both physically stunning. The daughter was basically a walking cock throb and the son was a slick-haired stud that made when gush between the legs. Their personalities, however, is what was effected. The daughter was a cold-hearted cunt who only cared about money, and even then only when it served her needs, and in general hated her father seemingly because she believed him inferior to her. The son, however, appeared spoiled until the end of the book, instead showing his curse was being highly empathetic and loving of everyone, to some regard, and contained the humanity his father, Vulture, never possessed.

The book it's based on wasn't based in Russia either, so that's just as well.

No kidding. Could you tell me more? I really didn't expect STALKER's concept of a physical /reality-affecting noosphere to be a cliche.
Kevin Torres
He's just angry the game isn't Japanese about raping school girls and collecting panties.
Ethan Nguyen
I dunno where he got that from. I've read quite a bit of slav SF, being one myself. I can't really recall a big focus on conspiracies and secret experiments - at least not any more focus than western SF. I do think that slav SF is grittier and darker, though.
Bentley Hernandez
The noosphere was an invention by Vladimir Vernadskij, where the noosphere was the third stage of the Earth's development, after the geosphere and the biosphere. He predicts that human cognition if working in a kind of tandem, will be able to change both the biosphere and the geosphere, as well as itself. Think orks from Warhammer 40k, the idea is that if humanity's collective consciousness believes hard enough that something will happen, it will invariably happen.
Nolan Robinson
So meme magic. Like in Elder Scrolls.
Adam Reyes
You have to go visit Strelok's stash in the Agroprom Underground first (but before finding Ghost in Yantar). You will then get the objective to speak with Guide in Cordon. You can find him at the same place you found Fox, a little north of the Train Bridge on the East side of the road.
Thomas Rodriguez
All they had to do was release the damn server software
Angel Thompson
The idea of a common consciousness to humanity is older than that (greek Aether/Eidos/Nous concept), the "Noosphere" is directly derived from the greek Nous concept. Vernadskij added the idea that humanity might be able to evolve to willingly interact with it and proceed to make change in """reality""".
Note that that theory is so long lived because there is two observable phenomenon that tend to go in favor of that theory Serendipity and "multiple discovery" (a lot of discovery are made seemingly by chance, a lot of discovery happens simultaneously to multiple people not using the same methods or even researching the same thing. Both of those new concept seem to appear "out of nowhere", but it makes more sense if it's "out of somewhere").
Memetic concepts comes from that same old philosophical concept, yes. Most religions too.
Ethan Scott
That's what I said, though. His invention only being that he thought that human collective consciousness can reach a stage where it can affect physical reality, namely the biosphere and the geosphere.
Jack Young
Where the hell would I get a jacket that looks like the standard rookie leather jacket? I've looked around and it's pretty fucking difficult to find one that fits the description, leather or not.
Just beat Shadow of Chernobyl (and my first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game). Wound up getting the true ending after playing through the game blind. To say it was excellent was an understatement, the run through pripyat and the giant muderbrawl at Chernobyl was some of the most fun I've had in a shooter in a long time. Plus ZRP (which I found necessary because gamebreaking bugs) will now let me zone simulator in peace. I'm considering which Stalker game to play next. I will probably go with Clear Sky just to play them in chronological order before moving on to CoP.
Robert Lopez
I've heard slavs in general have some fucking mental conspiracy theories. Isn't there one about WW1 being fought with future tech and being so destructive the truth was buried?>>13932275

I've always wondered about the context of this, is it some training situation?
Jason Martin
What gun is this supposed to be? A Howa Type 89?
Good work user, play Clear Sky with SRP (ZRP equivalent) and just skip if you get bored. Also if a faction war breaks and won't 'finish' (this will make sense if/when it happens) just ignore it and continue on with the story. CS is honestly not as bad as is memed anyway.

actual spoilers for Roadside Picnic here: I seem to remember that the book also implied that Buzzard Burbridge's children might not actually be his own, and that maybe the Golden Ball doesn't really grant wishes, and it's yet another one of Buzzard's lies. I do seem to remember Red commenting on how each of Buzzard's children have very different features from Buzzard. And the ending also makes it unclear whether or not the Golden Ball really grants Red's wish. Makes it seem highly possible that the Golden Ball never really granted Buzzard's wishes, but that Buzzard just got cucked. The particular quote that sticks in my mind is when Red is approaching the Golden Ball, and he says "it wasn't really golden, but more of a copper color. There was nothing about it to inspire doubt. But nothing to inspire hope, either. It all seems to fit in with the ambiguous nature of the Zone.
Adam Myers

You have to try really hard to get any other false ending. The rich ending triggers if you have above a certain amount of money, 200k I believe. It takes priority over other endings. Considering how easy economy is in vanilla, no wonder most people get it.

If you take the other path all of the Loners go hostile on you and try to gun you down while you run to Sid's bunker, fighting back serious harms your reputation with them possibly locking off their faction war. That's equally as retarded.
Nolan Johnson
Also, at least in the vanilla version of the game, the Northern path doesn't open up until you try the Southern one first.
Samuel Phillips
You're supposed to check the southern one, get shot at, and go back and take the northern route. Also you don't need to sage here, we have a 300 post bump limit, and we reached that cap ~15 hours ago.
Alexander James
Bullshit, the devs even built a (very shitty) path involving a fallen tree + medkits in the Southern route: it's clearly designed for you to try and get past with the MG firing at you. The Northern route opens up afterwards because it's designed to let you go back to the Swamps without having to face the MG a second time. If it were designed for you to be shot at without being killed the MG would open fire on you earlier rather than waiting until you're stuck halfway down the slope in cover that makes it easier to advance than retreat (if you're doing things stealthily, as any intelligent player would, this is what happens since the MG is coded to magically spot you past a certain point). Now granted anyone on a second playthrough or who lowers the difficulty after dying a bunch will probably get through but that's poor game design as is any event/enemy which requires prior knowledge to deal with. If someone with a solid grasp of a game's gameplay and a degree of intelligence can't reasonably complete something in a game without at least a single game over the dev has fucked up. This is what distinguishes artificial difficulty from fair but high difficulty. Contrast the MG in CS with, say, the raid on the Car Park in SoC. The exception to this rule would, of course, be a side-quest or area that you're supposed to be unable to do until a given time for whatever reason, in these situations having something be hard (or even extremely hard) but hypothetically doable is preferable to just slapping a fucking invisible wall or other artificial limit onto it and calling it a day.
It doesn't even make sense from an in-game point-of-view since clearly CS move in and out of the swamps semi-regularly as do the Renegades. Hell you even see Scar leading a group of Ecologists down from Yantar. Given that Scar is working for them (willingly or otherwise) it's in their interests not to drop him off right next to a fucking military encampment.
It's a manners thing user, always saging when doubleposting/tripleposting is so ingrained into me I don't even realise I'm doing it anymore.
Xavier Turner
Thanks for the warning, though I already encountered it by the time I read the new posts. I made it through SoC so this isn't going to turn me off the game.
Duly noted, I'll try the secondary route and my luck with the loners.
John Cook
As it turned out the secondary route was literally no issue. Loners did not turn hostile and I was able to climb the bridge truss and hop on the other side of the railway with no hostility.
Owen Gray
Loners have always gone hostile on me. Did SRP or a later patch fix it?
Jayden Parker
Was never a problem for me either, I just didn't call you on it at the time because I haven't touched CS in a good while.
Landon Peterson
Weird, I always remember them attacking you if you follow the objective and go down to Sid's bunker. You've got to go through the electro tunnel or run like crazy to avoid it.
