People are busy actually playing PSO2, unlike Warframe and FF14.

I personally prefer PSOBB myself, still play it from time to time. Would be fun to hang around Ephinea's servers with some anons.

D-discuss it anyway!

I doubt it. Judging from the previous threads they're all just standing around town jacking off to their grotesque waifus.

Talk about PSO2!
Post builds
Post screenshots of your wai- I mean, character
What are you looking forward to?

I would play PSO2 more, but the game started hanging and crashing at random for some reason, so i just gave up on the griding.

Ever since AIDA got some actually somewhat competent people on his team, issues like that are pretty rare. It's worth a shot if you want to try it again I think.

I've never played the game before, is it worth jumping into?
F2P? Any paywall caps? No pay to win shenanigans? Can everything be eventually obtained without having to pay a dime?
This is important! Pic unrelated

Yes
Some, but nothing in terms of gameplay.
It's pay for convenience.
>Can everything be eventually obtained without having to pay a dime?
Not everything. Some fashion options are locked behind real-money-only deals, but those items seem to eventually enter the F2P market after some time.

Start here if you want to try it.
arks-layer.com/

...

Nah, dropped it hard after reaching endgame content

One of the best F2P alternatives out there, almost nothing needs to be payed for. Even cash sop and gacha items can be sold to other players with in-game currency. Previously the only thing I felt hindered F2P gameplay was that the item box was kinda limited compared to premium users, but I heard they expanded it.
It's nice to play solo or with one or two friends up until the end of Loser's storyline, which is pretty awesome, after that the story is shit.
Actual multiplayer stuff, is pretty boring shit, twelve niggas raping the map with all sorts of explosions, you can just sit back and watch and it won't make a difference. Stuff like Amatsu and well organized Defense quests are alright though, 12 member paties should be limited to those kinds of missions and maybe Phalz battles.

Doubles

no thanks
it didn't help that literal chinpokomons were meta for a while since sega can't into balance.

Keep dreaming.

I have no time now, but yes I'd love to get some games going on Ephinea.

Not as good as PSO. Fun character creator and combat system though, but it's too bad you can't go full gundam with female casts.

Gee PSO2, where's YOUR western server with a game that's fully translated? :^)

...

The things you might want to pay money for are mostly just a bigger inventory. You can send stuff to your storage at any time mid-quest, but only having 50 slots half of which are probably taken up by your equipment and consumables is pretty annoying. Other than that there are extra skill trees you can buy if you want to try out more than one spec per class and extra MAGs, which are pretty much pets you raise that boost your stats.
The game is honestly the most f2p friendly MMO I've ever seen, there is basically zero p2w in it. There is a gacha for costumes and other vanity stuff but you can buy all of that from other players on the market and money isn't terribly hard to come by.

JP ONRY

...

I'll like to get back on it one day but I'm too busy for now.

That's not City of Heroes/Villains.

It's nothing more than an inconvenience and I know a ton of people that do spend money on the game that never bothered buying extra inventory slots. It takes like a second max to dump whatever random trash you have in your inventory into your storage once you get fast at it.
Storage space is basically a non-issue nowadays unless you are a massive horder and plan to collect absolutely everything you might even potentially get some use out of in the distant future instead of just selling it.

...

Personally I do find having to go into your inventory with whatever hotkey you set, pressing up twice while holding shift, and then mashing enter twice to throw everything into storage every 30 or so items you pick up to be pretty annoying, yeah.
Doesn't mean it's unplayable and most certainly doesn't make the game not f2p friendly, it's not really an issue whatsoever, just extra button presses you do once in a while when you are just auto-running around.

True, but that and the gatcha style unlocks are pretty jewish to me. Either just sell the damn costumes or make them reasonably acquirable in the game. This lockbox shit is getting ridiculous and fuck you for giving this their lockboxes a chance for some arbitrary reason.

It's ridiculously easy to buy that shit off of the market from people that like wasting their money on this stuff.
Haven't spend a cent on any of the scratches and have no problem affording whatever I want. And I'm a filthy casual. The game literally throws money at you nowadays, as long as you actually do your dailies/weeklies you will have zero issues affording nice shit.

Also do not play with Holla Forums.

Pretty much this. There are client orders in game that shit out money so it's never an issue and a lot of them are repeatable like clotho's Time attack orders and The dude in Franka's Cafe that gives 100k for shit you get from harvesting.

Then I guess we agree to disagree. I find that practice disgusting. Rng in any sort of lock box that you buy is jewery incarnate.

So you are complaining simply for complaining's sake without actually putting any thought in, got it.
PSO2's gacha is easily the best way to handle it I've seen so far.

Frankly I've never boughtanything that required money and the only time I've used the scratches in PSO2 is to believe it or not get junk items like grinders. the F2P scratches, known as FUN scratcheds are good ways of getting shit like grinders you can turn around and sell and FUN is it's own currency, that again is handed to you left right and center.

The problem isn't gashapon systems. The problem is how they are used. Games that are purely JP and have them tend to be based around "work hard get shit". Western games with the system are heavily rigged typically to get you to buy shit in the cash shop to begin with. Another issue is if the system is where players get their gear from. This isn't the case with PSO2, it's all cosmetics shit and even then the market ends up flooded with the costumes and whatnot. Of course the highly desired shit ends up at ridiculously high prices but a lot of times it's for female characters.

...

Hate the developer that fucks it up, not the concept.

Do you even realize how stupid you come across when you type like that?
Or are you just completely incapable of forming a proper normal sentence?

That can work either as "beat this very hard encounter by working with other people" or "grind this map until you hate this game". That said, I can see why this game's gatcha is nowhere as bad as their western equivalents. My problem lies in the fact that if they have to resort to this f2p kike tier tactic then why not just make it p2p? Why try to trick their own fanbase?

Give me a garbage response, get a garbage response back. :^)

No loot boxes and this are gambling, no two ways about it. The best system I can name however is from Gundam Online. In it the DX gasha, which is the cash money one has a limit on the prizes in it. Meaning you WILL eventually get what you want. The system becomes less "chance to win" and more "Will eventually get". Again thiugh this is a JP only game so they do allow you to earn DX tickets through normal play and since it's not a korean MMO the grind isn't painful. Not to mention things like events that throw the premium things are you like master mechanic tickets nad DX gasha tickets ontop of the daily gasha which has DX tickets and MM tickets every week and you get a ticket a day it becomes easy.

Easier to make money in the long haul. Gotta remember PSO2 is just now celebrating it's 5th anniversary. Game's been out for awhile and unlike a lot of P2P MMOs left on the market every bit of content added to PSO2 has been free, the new chapters and story episodes are added for no extra charge when in the west you'd have a company like blizzard charging you 50 USD for an expansion pack that isn't done and locks shit behind a paywall.

That being said some shit like player trading I feel is scummy to put behind a paywall and PSO2 did that, but at the same time they made player housing a Mostly premium feature. Outside like 5 slots to set down furniture in you're stuck with a barebones room. I've heard there are ways but the only thing I run into typically is the "open your room to the public for 3 days" tickets

They kneecapped f2p housing unless you spend sheklels?! Holy fuck, that offends me on a personal level!
Forget the gatcha shit, that is just the biggest slap in the face to any f2p player. Why didn't they just lock housing behind a paywall instead of cockteasing players like that? Jesus, that makes me fucking livid.

Nobody is being tricked though? Where are you getting this shit from?
They are completely upfront about the loot pool and your chances to get any particular item, it's wide in the open and posted publicly.
Personally I'll take the gacha we have over having to pay a sub any day. People that are too lazy to actually play the game or want to save their ingame money can spend their hard earned dollars and yen, everyone else can simply buy the stuff from the marketplace. If they were just shit you could buy for money straight up players that didn't want to put real money in would have basically zero way to get their hands on a lot of vanity items, the sheer fact that you roll for them creates items that are then distributed among the f2p community.

I guess the casino is on the level as well going by that logic!

These don't look like cosmetics to me. I mean, shit, I like the game, too. But don't go spreading bullshit like this when you know that's clearly not the case.

Hi, /monster/

Good to know you have zero fucking idea what you are talking about. Housing is in no way whatsoever restricted for pure f2p players. You get quite literally thousands of 3 day housing tickets while you are playing, once every 3 months you just pop a couple to get your 90 days of rental back and go on your merry fucking way

How does that even relate, the fuck are you going on about

Please stop talking if you don't know shit. You can trade room passes for excubes at a rate that gets you a month of 150 slots room per EQ. I've been mantaining my room for years now and never had to spend a cent on it. I also have thousands of excubes that I can't even spend.

The 3 day shop pass can also be gotten for free from the FUN scratch, which uses FUN, which in turn is purchasable by using excubes. It's tiresome, but entirely doable to scratch when you need a pass to do some selling, because it's only the selling that's locked, not the buying.

I'll break it down like i'm talking to a child. Your loot pool in game is exactly like the various rewards you can win from playing a slot machine. They use the same concept except one is a physical machine and another is a digital item used for the game we are talking about. Do you have any questions?

I started playing two months ago, fuck Sega for not letting me have housing unless I pay real money!!!!

QUESTION
Does that 3 day room pass get rid of the 5 item limit?

It lets you do absolutely everything you could possibly want, yes. There are literally zero restriction on your room for f2p players

Yes for fuck's sake. The room pass makes you room entirely the same as premium users.

...

That's good to hear but unless the passes are dirt cheap in the auction house then I can see new users be tricked into just buying them early on if they really want to play house. That's the part that rubs me the wrong way. We can educate new users all we want but at the end of the day it's the devs that decide how honest or dishonest they want to be when it comes to cash shops like these. Turns out most devs can't be trusted.

There is no such thing as a pass that opens your room to other people; your room in any form is open to everyone unless you locked it.

Do you not understand what we are saying? The passes are literally free. You just do a raid for 30min and you get enough resources to get enough passes for a month of room.

Do you not understand what i'm saying?

This is PSO2, a game where you can get into raids 10min after character creation.

Stop arguing if you don't know anything about the game.

Yes.

It lets you switch from the Mini Room (the one with the five item limit) to either A or B, which have a 150 item limit each, and can be expanded to include two wings, which can each be expanded to two sizes–small and large. Keep in mind that even with the expanded wings, there is still a hard limit of 150 items to be placed in the room.

You get the three day passes either through the FUN scratch (i.e., the points you get for logging in, playing with friend partners, doing missions with teams, etc.) or with one Excube in the Excube Shop. You convert 10* weapons into Excubes in the Recycling Shop.

holy shit, does sega know how much you are doing it for free?

...

The point is that a new user would more than likely not know about the fact that you can buy a 3 day pass in the space auction house and are you telling me that a low level player can not only do an emergency quest but contribute enough to get substantial rewards? You are making a huge assumption that a new player knows the game's ins and outs.

You don't buy it from the auction house, the tutorial literally makes you go to the place and tells you where to get them, and your actual contribution doesn't matter squat in EQs.
Good thing you know so much about the game, one could almost believe you haven't even played it

So you are telling me that AFK newbs are a thing in EQs?
Amazing deduction skills, let me try. Your post history in this thread makes me assume that you have spent a substantial time on this game and has a kneejerk reaction to defend this game when someone mentions that rng in a f2p game isn't a good idea.

If 2 months is a substantial amount of time, sure. You are basically assuming this is the most poorly designed and most jewish game that was ever created without knowing shit about it.
But okay, keep on believing everyone is out to fuck you over at any and all opportunities, those big bad evil corporations amirite

newbies can and it's actually a nice way to help them level, they have to stick close though for the exp. The game DOES gate players so you can't just bring lowbies into end game difficulties or missions. Not to mention to increase your level cap you have to do a serious of client orders to up your cap. While this sounds annoying it's done in a way in that if you're just playing you'll accomplish these goals.

You earn shit like your mag and your sub class through these missions as it's a way to again get you to play the game. and are both gotten fairly early on.

You've been BTFO for the last few posts man, just stop and take your lumps.

other way around. people play ffxiv and warframe enough here that generals are actually warranted. apparently nobody plays this janky mess called pso2

That's actually pretty fucking cool. I know a lot of MMOs are doing this so it's nice to see that there are large events that lowbies can do. The grind is nowhere as bad as I thought though the rng of the FUN cards are still fucked up IF the only way to get them is from people buying them from the cash shop and flipping it for a profit.

I wonder why Tera can't get away with it but you assume this game can? :^)

FUN scratches are the F2P ones, everyone can get them and they usually have cosmetics in em. the arks cash scratches are cash money scratches people tend to flip for a profit in game if they get doubles.

The grind used to be a lot worse but the hero class has basically made leveling a bit more bearable. There's also the featured quests with one of them being a multi party style quest that is a good source of leveling. Again this isn't a western or chink MMO where you need to grind or cough up a lot of money to do anything of note.

That's not bad at all. How rare are the cosmetics? Any bullshit 1/100 yugioh secret rare holy shit a fucking charizard tier cosmetics?

Even the most expensive Arks Cash (real money currency) cosmetics are only in the 20-30m range while they are current, the vast majority are usually in the 500k-3m range, and you can make 10m a week from your weeklies alone not counting all the items you can pick up and sell or your various dailies.
Like people mentioned previously, it's piss fucking easy to afford the stuff you want as a pure f2p player as long as you do your quests.

Not very rare. Again fun scratches get you some things. but they do put the meat and potatoes in the cash money scratches. The character customization itself is really robust and improved over time. Some events, like the dengeki hobby event running right now and will be till december. Has not only some ok costumes and outfits but the collection files for it can net you some strong weapons. Collection files are basically "kill X thing at Y level range or higher" to fill a bar. Of course they have to be the minimum level listed. So unless you're up there don't expect anything. The trade off is you'll have good weapons.

As for the last bit I dunno.

You should probably elaborate that he's not going to be able to get the better paying client orders till into the 30s or 40s,. TA missions unlock close to 50 doesn't it?

Because it's unbalanced trash.
MMORPG is a dead genre. You must let go.

TACOs unlock at 40 if I remember right, yeah.
I don't think anyone would expect to be able to earn money before even leveling a little bit.
It's not particularly hard to get to 75 these days anyways, you pretty much just fly through the levels with all the new options you have

Thanks for the info, I was already going to try it out but seeing the gatcha in the game was a huge turn off. At most this thread allowed me to see how kikeish it could be. It's not as bad as I was expecting but I realistically didn't expect to get the fun shit for free until level 30 or so like most MMOs now a days.

Some color combinations are more rare than others.

pso2.jp/players/catalog/scratch/ac/20171108/
The actual pull rates for the items in the current real-money scratch draw (picture 1) are listed here. As there is no money involved for the FUN scratch (picture 2), there is no actual pull rate data. Generally, though, the green pointer hand icon signifies that the item is a "HOT ITEM!!!!!!!!!!!11111" and is probably an uncommon draw.

Yep. Hero has definetly made leveling easier. It's the shitter class in that pretty much everyone wants to play it and it shits out DPS. which means it's EZ wins on hard missions and also means easier time leveling if you get them in a party.

Also gotta remember this is a JP centreic game. Usually gmes that never leave japan have their work ethic injected into it. "work hard and you'll get the shit you want". The grind itself might seem tedious at times but generally this happens after a long play session.

As for translations if that's going to be a question I'd say it's fairly done around 80-90% complete. Newer items obviously don't have their names translated and some dialogue isn't done either.

Might have to do with accessability to those games, you get ads and can see them anywhere. Also, I expect "PSO2? Probably some gook p2w trash and I need to register on japanese site, and apply an english patch to play it, too hard, I'd rather frog-jump as a spess kid in a bug-ridden gigagrindan not like it's bad game" line of thinking.

And you've been feeding a troll for the whole thread.

Speaking about gatcha shit though I'd say that it's a very good thing in PSO2. While in general gatcha is cancer, people who scratch get a bunch of cheap items and a few very very expensive, so they in-game currency income is more or less stable, they use all that shit which they might not want to sell to other players to buy shit that they do want, which allows f2p players to get p2p stuff. So in the end you still get item you want while keeping the market alive and game f2p as in FREE to play.
For the latest scratch they added ability to pick item you want after N scratches, up to 3 with increasing intervals, so super popular/expensive shit will have its price normalized.

You can check official site for item chances, generally it's from 0.(6)% to 1.(6)% so there isn't any super-rare shit. This too often has little to do with prices as some 1.(6)% pink panties might cost like 300k while same but black panties can go for 10m though usually panties doesn't cost that much

...

Wew.

Let's address real problems with PSO2 instead.

also, cool hairdos cost literal millions

also

That's because they're consumable, so you need to buy them for each character separately. The layered wear is the same kind of kikery, with only outer pieces remaining tradable items.

technicaly if you buy 2 they unlock for all chars in the account.
But i saw hairdos going for like 17 mill or even 51 mill

...

It's like 1999 all over again. Did you prepare for Y2K user?

I don't remember any p2w stuff back when I played it. The only thing I was grumpy about being behind a paywall was more MAGs.

I don't remember anything like that when I played. The only thing that was behind a paywall that really bothered me was extra MAGs.

I always wanted to get into it but my computer was shit and the OP's instructions were complicated for a retard like me to begin playing it

...

I know this is a shitty (1) and done, but just thought I'd throw out there my usual routine is to do a few missions in PSO2 or Warframe or a similar stopping point in another game, tab out, and check threads.

Why would I play a bad game?

But FF14 and WF are just as waifu-oriented, if not more.

I miss CoH/CoV all the time, and no mmo has been good enough to fill that void. I don't expect City of Titans or whatever to do it, either, since it seems like sjw trash.
Pic related, it's NCSoft.

Where have all the newmen gone, and where's the esca god?
Where's the streetwise Gettemhart to stab the moe blobs?
Isn't there a summoner upon a fiery viola?
Late at night I get online, and I see posts from EOPs.
Waiting for hero! They're holding out for a hero never to be localized!
They've got to be dumb, and they've got to be fat, and they've got to be straight out of cuck chan.

The reason there's no builds is because there's enough SP for every class to take every skill worth having at this point. If I don't pad out the excess with flat stat boosts, all my trees except force and techer have a good 20-28 points left over after taking all the useful skills. Force and techer recently got cost cuts to its mastery skills that make it so that rainbow builds are still decent even if they aren't optimal. As for the difficulty thing, the devs claim that they want to implement more difficult content in the future, but they probably won't because of fear of alienating the casual whales they invited to the game in Episode 4.

you can always play Champions online user, its almost the same thing
no its not, its shit, CoX is dead

Joke's on you my mom did already die

Good for her. She didn't need to see your final degenerations.

7/10 game, content only lasts for as long as powercreep deems it relevant and devs are too scared to make something the average joe can't clear.

It's the sort of game where you're rarely prompted to get stronger gear unless you want to grind more efficiently. Most of the content is insultingly irrelevant because of powercreep. Very rarely are there quests that have a reasonable, healthy 4 player limit instead of the 12 you normally have.

it's basically in the same spot as modern Monster Hunter- you don't play it because it's difficult to win, you play it because it's satisfying to improve and perform better. Any numbskull can clear a pub Mother EQ since there is practically zero fail-state, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining to use your tools as well as you can. It doesn't excuse the terrible balance; I just enjoy what i can in spite of it. The combat is actually really fun if you're not playing a braindead class, and everybody loves to shit on Hero because it's overpowered, but it's super satisfying to play optimally; lots of tools and a big focus on counterattacks.

They temporarily inflate the stats and drop rates of older content to match the current meta, but instead of making a new difficulty setting for it, it's just an ephemeral event.

A few months ago, for the game's anniversary, there were 4-man quests with static enemy placement that featured most of the content from each episode, including an unlockable 5th quest that threw a bit of everything at you. It was already fairly difficult for the average pub to clear due to the time limit, but there was a periodic enemy buff based on how much the event quests were played across the whole populace, letting the skilled players and whales flex their ego. Said quests are gone with the event despite being some of the most fun I've had with the game in a long time.

Yeah, I didn't like Champions or DCUO, both felt like bad ripoffs with garbage playerbases. Have you looked at City of Titans at all? I'm staying pretty reserved, because I don't think the devs have a good grasp on something this large, and the Statesman role is filled by a niggress.

If it's any consolation, one of the questions in the current player survey is whether or not you want to see more quests like the Episode 1-4 quest. There's no way they'd let a quest that gives out such obscene amounts of EXP be normal content, but at least they know people loved those quests.

be that as it may, surely tweaking the xp values in said quests wouldn't be too hard

they were fun because they cut out everything that slows down the game everywhere else, e.g. cutscenes, mindless mobbing, etc., just boss after boss with small breaks between- the polytan EQ going on right now is a shadow of that with triple the headcount (and RNG mobbing, but that's less damning) even though it has the same great diversity of enemies.

is Valiaence online still happening or not?

this is true

I'm not that supertitious, but if she for some reason died tonight I'd feel like shit for not replying to this for the rest of my life.

but i love my mama

aah maintenance day
Soo.. we shit post

How do you become a glorious winged faggot?

Did they ever make the gunslash not a piece of shit, or at the very least design a class around it? It was the only weapon that I actually enjoyed the moveset for, but knowing that it was the equivalent of bringing a knife to a gunfight made me lose all interest. I'd consider coming back if they made changes so that I could at least contribute with a gunslash instead of being a perpetual anchor that used up a slot in the party.

Hero is basically this gameplay-wise with its swapping PA's and a use for every mode except it uses a combination of sword/TMG/talis so gunslash is still a piece of shit. Hero is the most fun class in the game imo, but it is far from polished.

sword is the best dps option and the other two weapons are more useful for utility because sword already has two really strong ranged attacks, the weapon action and a Parallel Slider remake plus the widest range AoE

you need to have hit 75 in a few classes to unlock it and it starts at level 1 like everything else

Can someone spoon feed me on how to install/patch to play this game?

Its a game made in Japan' fundamentally filled with Japanese cultured items, areas and references. Where many people may not understand if they were to try the game first hand so it tends to be pushed to the side or whitewashed. With previous issues Sega had with localisations on other games it becomes a gamble especially since many things in this game don't meet the criteria for a 16 year old western teenager but it does for a 12 year old Japanese child. The final nail in the coffin was that many of the costumes in game are from collaboration items from "animes, games, clothing stores, insurance companies, mobile games, a restaurant.. etc." Where sega may have to contract that and cost them money in the long run for a game that lost its original base following of players.

>masterpiece
I got to tell you user, it stopped being a masterpiece almost 2 years ago.
I will give you a bit of insight so you understand.

With each year some of the main staff in Sega are moved to other game projects. For 3 years everything was fine or great. The issue came in episode 4 but was visible in episode 2. when staff changed on year episode 2 one of the developer/directors had the idea to alter the balance for all classes as he was to create the new class named braver. If you asked some about it they will tell you that in ep 2 it was dreadfully overpowered using a single move to obliterate hordes of monsters with ease as people still struggled to kill a single monster. Also in the time there was a part of the content "eq" listings as TD a fairly challenging quest for its time.

FAST FORWARD
Episode 2 ends and episode 3 comes and goes with little issue. Episode 4 comes and the first issue was there was no content to run for a full 3 weeks except the class of summoner for a duration where it went from weak to OP since the guy who made the braver was at the steering wheel again. The first thing that shows up is a new addition to the lobby and the mechanic of rings, mining/fishing, and SG. The SG and bonus AC scratches. This was a huge issue for many because Sg was a new currency used to buy limited costumes, pay not to wait and tickets that cannot be traded or bought for the time.(This game already has 9+ different currencies.)
Everything in the bonus scratch that can ONLY be obtained by purchasing AC and scratching them yourselves X amount of times unlike the other where you could have bought it from a visiphone.

As for the story it no longer took place on strange alien worlds but in tokyo japan where you must defeat the (7) apostles. For a large amount of ep 4's story you will be doing literally nothing but watching cutscenes; not killing monsters, not running through maps, nothing. The points of the story you do interact with things last less than 2 minutes where as you just finished a 5 minute cutscene. I finished the entire story in less than 1 hour and 10 minutes skipping cutscenes mind you that it too a little over a year to make this content.
As for emergency quests' it faired no better. the goal was to fight a Japanese battleship that morphs but the rewards for the time were terrible for insane amounts of effort when in ep 4 already gave weapons that were stupid strong weeks before that event and fit everyones prime choice. so a lot of people quit then the devs altered it to be an easy grind but that didn't help it much.Map clear req being changed from kill a boss to gather X points making shit take much longer since spawns in the new maps were limited to area. Ignoring riding quest rant.

Tl;dr Aesthetic came before gameplay which was a huge mistake.

So it's shit.

well memed

That's what they did with Hero too. I was a little confused at first when they came out, but not with episode 5. I imagine they wanted them out the door to fight content drought, but mainly so schmucks like me could grind the time-sensitive LQ to get the necessary classes to 75 and get Hero a good ways off too. Then Episode 5 and Buster Quests finally came out and everyone had a Hero to absolutely trivialize it. I wasn't particularly excited one way or the other for them, but after playing them I could see how they would be potentially fun. Now the only way they're fun is when you have a group that is just the right level of retarded. At least that was how it was before I quit.
I fucking hate that. A lot of running around doing nothing. If I'm going to be mowing down groups in a flash at least make it like a musou.

Thanks puppy.

You how forgot to mention how good ep4 was - shitty generic anime story with generic animu girl with "rich innter world" read: stupid cunt cant stop talking about herself protagonist your character is a background character now btw, that anime story could compete with pso2 anime for shit of the year award. Also the quality of already retarded maps full of invisible walls, no collision textures, Su being the only class that was catered to as well as fuckton of Su-only trash from bosses that cluttered the drop list and mobage-tier gathering with timers to shit up inventory even more that had PSE-burst-like that was guaranteed only if you used non-farmable items or SG.
Oh, and all of that was during the PS4 release and it's the first chapter players see now, good job sega, that if you were aiming to drive people away from the game with a filler called ep4.

Actually good stuff should be mentioned too though - 300 per character storage that's a lot with extra free character slot, graphics update, PS4 release, more character body customization ass sliders, less reliance on RNG, tons of other QoL updates and, by the end of the episode, both retarded gathering sped up and eased to player-friendly levels as well as actually good class balance where almost all no one cares about jet boots classesXweapons weren't leech tier anymore. And atm other classes are balanced to Heeeero levels too, too bad Hero is just too convenient to play and is really fun.

Goddamn philistine.

I liked the latter half of ep 4, but you have to admit it started incredibly, painfully slow with a boring schoolkid setting and nothing but hamhanded exposition. then we finally got some action and characters like Aratron.

What frustrates me about ep4 is that the new enemies themselves are actually relatively well made excluding ufos, fuck em and the whole thing suffered because they were pushing summoner too hard. Ult Amduscia is great, revamped Yamato is great, Deus is shit to the core, generally a pretty okay period from a strictly playable content perspective

The TV show just might be good it probably won't

Eletrifies your citrus fruits, doesn't it? Also where's the obligatory manual for how to play it as filthy Gaijin? Isn't PSO 2 Japan exclusive?

...

Thanks. Its funny how the manual popped way after the thread has started.

It's almost like this thread started off as shitposting bait or something.

I would love this actually.

Episode 5 and 4 and 2 should feel familiar in many ways. since its the same guy who worked on all 3.

BQ is just TD reskinned
12 story updates
0 free fields to run
Most of the content is revivals of old content with new weapons added. Making the content they already planned/made for ep 5's later dates already useless.

I genuinely didn't pay attention to the story

I will admit that many of these things were very useful and have merits to them and can be agreed on to have a positive role to the player.

I remembered that they in that same period added 26+ different types of stones and 26+ types of fish to be farmed and crafted into rings and meals with more to come later in the year. I would have preferred them making a tab for it in the first place that didn't count towards inventory space so the player wouldn't have to think twice about running something and worrying about their inventory becoming packed.

I got a lot of newbie questions should i ask them here or the discord?

The discord is the dwelling place of shitters and people who think they know better than they actually do. Sometimes there are genuinely good players, but that doesn’t make them good company. Use it as a stepping stone to find a team, not as a direct resource. Use the JP wiki for most of your info if you can tolerate google translate.

that being said, I’m sure they will help you out with the basics; I just caution you against asking for build advice. I play a lot of Techer personally and my “off meta” Te/Fi build was frowned upon despite being continuously indirectly buffed. With the recent blanket balance changes, people are just now realizing how good it is. also because the other combinations got gutted but that’s beside the point

I just enjoy the game anons. Im sure a lot of you shit on it but to me, it's something I play whenever I got an itch and it's just incredibly fun for being a f2p with no p2w aspects. I still haven't reached max level and I am enjoying just running random eqs, running random shit with my Bros, and doing whatever I feel like while not having to worry about paying a dime to do so. Video games should just be fun, too much autism spent on trying to find the things wrong.

This.

Agreed, that first half was awful to sit through, I just started skipping chunks of it after a certain point, most of it wasn't important.
Episode 5 seems to have remembered that the PC is meant to be the protagonist unlike episode 4s pretending another character just solo'd the boss you actually just solo'd.
I'm sure someone has a list of all the annoying shit episode 4 pulled somewhere where it goes over this more in depth.
The bright side is that the characters from the awful anime didn't get forcibly shoved into the main plot and lots of people were dreading about the potential cancer they could do with that.

Pictures just because.

There are two rules of thumb
Because resetting mag is expensive for new player, you need 30 or 50 excubes to level down ONCE I think. And skill resets are rare giveaway occurring only during major balance changes, again something new player may struggle to get their hands on.

Is it even possible to be shitter at this game anymore? I mean even if you fuck up your build and mag you're still op.

Yes, it absolutely is possible to be a shitter, and one of the huge, negative impacts of the way the game rushes you to level 75 is that shitters are still running with their unextended, +3 albaX and 3 star unit set at SH tier.

You got everything you deserved there matey.

Yeah, I went with the super underpowered class, hero, zenesis weapons, and fully upgraded saiki set. What a shit character for SH.

i enjoy dressing up my casts and the other characters, but sometimes shit can get extra pricy

Thank you immunity dog

You didn't win it for your mpa did you?

Oh I knew that going in. Just TD is a lot more hectic in comparison. BQ gets that way too in the second defense phase on Grade 3, but it feels nice to cap it off with rushing the boss. Or it would if he wasn't insta-nuked.

the castle being defeated should segue into a real boss fight honestly; Omega Hunar has a really roided up moveset and would work perfectly instead of what we got which has him appearing now and then to flex his muscles and die to a light breeze.

I recently installed this game and I understand why people enjoy it. What ship do most people play on?

Most engliosh people are on ship 2. Second most are on ship 4.
But there are a few hipsters on every shit as well.

most English speaking players are on Ship 2, which includes japanese players that happen to speak english too. Back before I became a sensitive, self destructive fuckwit and severed all the ties I had, I played in a comfy team that had both filthy gaijin and japanese players alike.

I'm gonna attempt this. I pine for PSO and haven't played online since before DC version went down. I'll be in heaven if I can get my Xbone controller working with this Blue Burst.

thats a pretty hot human you got there, mind if i put my penis in it?

Nobody is human in furfu, nobody.

I just want to dakka as a cast can i fuck it up

Only raise R-atk on your mag
Don't raise Dex.
Look up Ra, Gu and Hr build.
But you won't be able to play as Hr until you level 3 different types of classes (melee, ranged and tech) to level 75.
Don't expect it to play as an average western TPS though.

*builds
Because Ra/Gu, Gu/Ra, Ra/Hu and Gu/Hu are all different builds.
Last time I checked they killed WB build which was its own thing, but still might be worth looking that one up too.
Sage for double post.

Well and obviously you race and gender don't affect shit, so Racast is as viable as any other ranger.

RIP intro black guy who always got one shotted by a dagan.

post characters

My support partner is much more interesting than my character.

Nice digits and nice try, my mother died years ago. I wish it was in her sleep though.

Thanks anyway, you're a good boy.

PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE FUCKING JAP CAPTCHA

I'd post mine when I get home.
My character barely changes over the years though.

When did Holla Forums become so casual?

You don't suppose the malware it installs could have something to do with it?

I think I know who you are.

I loved to play this game but got burnt out at some point. I remember the saddest part of my experience was reaching the point where the story wasn't translated anymore (I think it's when the twins show up? Or the japanese princess?), it really fucked up my enjoyment.

IIRC you could get some permanent changes to your acc by buying a month of premium status, which was really good, but I don't remember what you got.

die you double double nigger

fucking flag

I guess that's that.

No sage this time, just to be safe.

Collab characters are characters, right? Here, have this titan meat thing man greeting you when you step out from central elevator!

Have they made an english port yet or do I still need to translate zipperhead shit to be able to install the game?

WoW classic will be 100 times more fun than this garbage. 5 years your garbage game goes on, gated field updates garbage, TACO garbage, "XQ" garbage, le "ultimate XD" garbage, earn 300 cubes to get X weapon with 1% better stat garbage. Feels good to have no urge to install this again. 4 years later, and you are only 30 levels above. How much longer to 200 and a true endgame with no more gated progression, 35 years?

WE ARE BOARDERLESSSSSSS

Why did the anime go the route it did? It could have been centered on the characters in the chapter trailers it was like some kind of alienware advert too

They have things to talk about, unlike PSO2. In fact every fucking PSO2 threads here opens with the same question of why is it that everyone is talking about warframe and FF14 but not PSO2.
Which makes sense because they have nothing going for them.
FF14 has a story and warframe has one too even if they devs fucked up like retards, the story in PSO2 is still not completly translated to this day and even worse, the translated parts are fucking trash. Warframe may have made the retarded choice to make them child soldiers, but PSO2 shits the bed with the oh so retarded time travel plot that is ultimately made even worse by shitting the bed and making the game an MMO but then backpedaling and saying its also not an MMO and is also a separate universe that is interacted with by the real would as if it was an MMO.
Lets talk about gameplay then?
I don't follow FF14 much but I'm aware enough that they get content updates that include raids that, IIRC, are actually hard and challenging. When PSO2 gets raids its never a challenge, and it hasn't been one since the CBT when they realized that the players were having a hard time doing a quest in under 20 mins because it was too hard for people to go though procedural generated maps.

Here.

I would actually be ok with it.
I want to keep playing this shit on and off for the rest of my life.
PSO2 a best.

Yeah right.
But as far as story goes I agree, time travelling is the worst plot device out there, as you can easily fix and asspull everything you want.

No one talks about the story in the Warframe except to shit on it occasionally. Discussion mainly revolves around builds and current happenings.

PSO2 lacks accessibility so there's less discussion. That's all.

fugger

Thank you immunity dog, you're a good boy.

I'll let you in on a secret:
Your game sucks.

you know what's even less accessible? Although it's obvious, FFXI. If the playonline bullshit wouldn't be here and the game was installed and patched quicker, there would probably be some more anons playing togheter

See this why MMOs with people like you are cancer. Just enjoy the fucking game and don't play it 24/7 and go after 1% stat increases because MUH META. No one fucking cares about that shit and those who do have a pretty unfulfilling life probably. Come on every now and then and play. Doing anything else would probably just make you insane. However seeing what you said about classic wow it's clear your underage and don't know how to have fun unless you're invovled in a skinner box

It boggles my mind is just how many people revolve their entire play time around this concept, racing those crazy affixes, to just start from scratch when sega releases slightly better weapons 2 months later.
And if you aren't huge whale you probably spent those 2 months exactly on getting and affixing previous top weapon.
It's insane.

The reason PSO2 will never be released is because it's specifically tailored to Japanese vapidity. I'm not losing sleep over it any more than I am about the fact that I can't play Silent Hill Pachinko. Good riddance.

Also on accessibility - game is filled to the brim with redditors, facebook kids, russians and other normalfag scum, yet here on all places people complain about inaccessibility.
You'd think jap captcha and perpetually unfinished fan translation would filter the scum out, but it appears to have the opposite effect.

Drumpf gonna get freezeepeached guys

...

This.
The hilarious thing is that they go for these 8 slot builds that give them like 80 in every stat when I've been using an infinitely cheaper, 5 slot set that gives me 120 to the stat that actually fucking matters on the weapon, along with about 40ish to the others. Bonus keks were had when the meta for units shifted from 140+ in the main attack stat to 70ish in all 3 attacks because of hero.

Immunity dog saves the day once again

You didn't catch my critique of the game you like I see. Everything I pointed out proves that this game is indeed yet another WoW clone when it shouldn't be. Instead of adapting old pso1 mechanics, which made gameplay/socialness unique, they rehashed pso universe ideas to make pso2, and pso U is garbage.

PSO2 gameplay for the majority of players IS endgame content of the 'current year patch'. Once you hit max you either continue make-up simulator and feed your desire with monthly costumes, or wait weekly for EQ's and 20 other chore-like daily/weeklies to obtain a weapon which will either be for a fashion statement or for stats.

I refuse to enjoy a game which I have consumed content 5 years ago, and each patch is just a rehash of the old. "New field, your current wep sucks" or "new boss, level cap jumps by 5". Its just an excuse to keep the shekels flowing. Sega is the gacha lottery machine magnate of Japan, they know how to hook people in.

Everyone cares about "that shit" and is the reason people play. Is the EQ up? Is the new patch up? What is the new group quest? A new time attack? Don't skinner box me, the reason you still play is for new content. This is a reality of all social games. We need new content to have motivation to replay.

And finally, pso2 is mostly fun when you play with others (what a surprise), shitpost in the lobby, group up to fight with friends, and the occasional dress-up. These things are not inherent to skinnerbox, but most of these points only arise because there was a patch recently which has players logging in to see whats new especially Christmas coming up.

Also if you want to shitpost with my Symbol Art, I might be inclined to install the game again to give it out.

Fuck man you're a hero

Actually funny enough they went from katakana to hiragana for the captcha making it EASIER to register. Hiragana is what they teach kindergarten kids basically.

Can you swap weapons mid-combat and juggle enemies for 20+ hit with aerial combos in wow?
Thought so.

Like every single other MMORPG in existence? Without the "community" aspect going for it most other MMORPGs simply don't have much of anything holding them together yet I'll never stop hearing an endless tide of shills for WoW and FFXIV. Can't wait for a classic classic server for WoW and for FFXVII to reuse most of the content from FFXIV (and by proxy FFXI) and the subsequent bitching then acceptance from the Blizzard/Squarenix fanboys as they continue to milk them for every penny and while they're being milked will be circlejerking each other off as they sit around and ERP like they would in Secondlife, while trying to convince everyone else it's the best game ever.

I'm not going to go that route, because you're right about PSO2s gated content being ass, and PSO2 definitely has its fair share of flaws like the only thing to do being to grind for a weapon or hope that but I think PSO2s strong suit is its fully active battle system and avatar customization despite this, and it's the reason I am playing it, that and the fact monthly fees aren't forced upon you for the mediocrity that all MMORPGs are.

I imagine a more ideal game would be combining it with the best of what PSO had to offer, but that's not the timeline we live in. Instead Segas idea of adding new content to it is a seasonal map to run through 50 or so times for a weapon that probably looks ugly and you'll cover with a weapon camo anyways. I started using the classic PSO weapon camos as soon as I could get my hands on them because most of the weapons look like what a professional skateboarders skateboard looks like after they're done whoring themselves to sponsors.

Don't even get me started on the Summoner and Force meta era, seems to be a fad where "class who has to go up close to do damage" is doing the lowest and least rewarding damage in games I play as of late, not thrilled about how Hero was handled in general as fucking everyone is using it as it's the only advanced class option. Really should've released more than one so it wasn't the only option, but as stated Sega cannot balance well.
At least Hero being the strongest class is a bit justified because of the effort you must expend in unlocking it and having to avoid getting hit to make the best of it, granted Fighter was already about that playstyle.

unit drops finally because for some reason the NOT 14* weapons are the only things with collection sheets, not things players could actually use more than the infinite quickly made obsolete weapons.

Didn't notice that part dropped.

...

I wouldn't know, been capped at 80 for a while now.

Summoner is easily the single worst part of the entire game ever.

Did anyone bother doing the survey on EP4?

this was ARKS MOD TOOL and the guy who made it made it A) impossible to keep updated for anyone but him and B) quit playing so it doesn't work anymore which really sucks because it also removed the ridiculously short object/creature draw distance limit and allowed full free camera control without having to used the stupid fixed camera…

anyway hi from mofumofu, I hope to see you all in game hehe

sorry, I replied before reading the whole thread, but I did yes

Not that I hate your or anything, but your avatar/waifu is ugly as hell.

Well that was disappointing. Now I hate summoner too.

thanks for the feedback! she's my self-insert, not my waifu, hehe ('ω') I like the way she looks so much that I keep playing PSO2 for 5 years now with no end in sight, simply because no other game lets me make (imo) such a cute character, even though I'm kind of "done" with the game at this point… still working on getting FO/TE to 80 (everything else is 80 including HR) but … eh … it's tiresome…

SU was a mistake.

FO/TE got a lot more fun when they made fast talis a quick toggle. Now I feel like a super strategy master when I have to juggle fast talis to position my techs well and I can keep up in run and gun EQs like the recent halloween one.

Fuck off. Holy shit.

At least ep5 isn't as retarded, it's just a bunch of medieval kingdoms duking it out so far.

...

...

👌

something probably a little more to Holla Forums's taste

nigga

That was not bait and you know it.

...

Go away Bill

I think it's generally unanimous that a sizable chunk of episode 4 was awful. The amount of hate Hitsugi gets because of her godawful story handling is immense and as far as a "main character" goes, ranked awfully in the character polls to the point she's the least popular female character from episode 4, and the least popular in the polls if you don't include characters who had no point in being in the polls in the first place because of their almost non-existence in episode 4, though you could handwave Aika deserving a spot because of being a main character in the shitty anime.

The least popular male being Ardem and the poll taking place conveniently right after he killed Japans newest waifu in Mother so it's kind of obvious what happened there.

While I'm not a fan of the VN style, the rest of episode 5 hasn't been so bad story-wise, at least we're not spending the first half being almost completely uninvolved and watching other characters do generic high school girl anime shit.

You spelled Shitsugi wrong on those filenames.

Trust me. SUs hate the eggs and themselves too.

It's a shame too. I'll probably try XI one of these days.

PSO2 english site seems to be dead now. If any of you fags were clinging to hope of it ever being released go ahead and despair even more.

you done goofed

torrent is outdated and unnecessary aida should really remove it

the tweaker by itself downloads and installs everything from western mirror servers so there isn't even a slow download time

MATOI STRONK
She's this game's version of Solid Snake, but nobody seems to realize it

Good. An english version would doom half the content and have far worse microtransactions than costumes and expensive scratch only affixes.

The poll ranks for the most part seem to revolve around "what character shows up the most" and current flavor waifus.

Matoi is probably the only character that's been around since the beginning and has stayed relevant since the first episodes, so no surprise there, she potentially has more scenes for her altogether than Hitsugi, but unlike Hitsugi most of those are spent interacting with your character instead and it's one of the many reasons why she destroyed her in the character polls in her own episode that she barely appeared in. To the average player she's "default waifu."

Sadly it's unlikely many of my favorites will return due to being non-plot relevant side characters or having their character arcs "finished."

hmm

tbh I don't mind if she dies.

who

have a question.
I know you can use other weapons ti "grind" up your main weapons level.
What do i do with all the armors i get from the hourly Emergencies?
can i grind em like that too, or should i just get a 3days store ticket and attempt to scam other players?

where do you think you are?
only trash games ever get threads here

rubyeclipse/aaron was an english game master for psobb and psu, was at one point the community manager at sega of america, and is currently the operator of sonics official twitter. he visits japan and at the same time the english pso2 site goes down… hmm

Fucking philistines the lot of them!

>not Io

You wouldn't know class if it broke your legs, you unclutured swine.

10* and 11* armors can be turned into photon spheres. You want a lot of photon spheres.
12* armors are considered end-game and you want to wear it.
Also pay attention to affixes, as some affixes can be sold for pretty meseta. Armor itself doesn't matter when you're selling affixes.

PSO2 won't officially be released in the west, it's not realistic.
What can happen is they add english support in the launcher, like grandshit did. But with unofficial translation it's redundant.

You wouldn't fuck a bug would you?

...

You have no idea.

>>>/somethingawful/

Class? Too cool for us? Or too cocky? Come here, blyat.

Wait, there's squatting lobby action? I need to know the number, now.

WHAT THE FUCK EVEN IS THIS GAME
WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE AN MMO HAD SEX WITH SECOND LIFE AND ABORTED HALFWAY.
SWEET FUCK WHY IS THERE A CHART ABOUT "AFFIXES" IN COMIC SANS
ARE YOU TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO PLAY IT OR DISGUST THEM
-1/10 YOU ACTUALLY SCARED ME FROM PLAYING IT
SWEET MOTHER OF FUCK, YOU FUCKING WEEEBS ARE DISGUSTING

wish they had cheeky briki techno songs for your room, or the cheeki briki dance

Check dengeki NPC.

I already bought the better version, 100% worth it.

I just recently re downloaded this and is the class with the hand to hand combat bad?

Asshole

maybe because everytime someone calls you out on the game actually being pay 2 win garbage with clunky DMC2-tier combat, you sperg out about "b-b-but you couldn't get past the captcha, 2 complex 4 u!"

its a shitty generic MMO and you only like it because it wears a mask of a big time franchise, and because you're a fucking weeaboo.

don't forget the doll dress-up elements

The closest thing I could think of is extreme quest track, that's the name of music disc: エクストリームステージ

Try /mla crouch

All classes are more or less viable unless you use retarded combos, knuckle Fi is one of the best against bosses if you can manage timings, PP and dodge shit because you'll run with 25% hp 1/2-2/3 of time so not good for shitters.

Basically hero class is a good way for low levels to level up. The featured MPA quest is actually something if you're leveling a non-hero should do for some EZ exp. Heros shit out damage so if you're new to the game and want to level a class you DO like then go do the featured MPA quest and watch as the 8+ heros in the mission carry you.

It's online dmc with dress up and stats autism.
What do you think?
It's not for the faint of heart.

It's more of DMC1 combat really.
You can't run up walls and shit, but you have more than one weapon.

And this is how it looks in action.

Where is that from? BQ Shop?

AIS customization when

tomorrows update i presume

Fuck off Bill

Pay2win
shit pvp
No PVP

They're all shit

Ackually PSO2 has shitty PVP now too.

There is peeweepee in PSO2 :^)

And why would you play MMO for a fucking PvP? All you get is shitty version of multiplayer arena game with unbalanced core player stats where the grindiest/whale has the advantage with usually completely retarded targeted system+cooldown gameplay. At best you get a specially designed "open world PvP" MMO which is usually even more retarded.

I just wish PSO2 had 1-on-1 pvp, so I could show scrubs their place.

...

user why are you playing then? You're probably a vet that has no self control over how many hours you spend playing or you're probably really lonely. There are so many games out there to play. Go play something else and let the fresh blood enjoy what is there. MMOs in their current state are shit and are not meant to hold your attention for longer than a week. Unless you have friends than it's maybe 2 weeks.

PSO2 isn't an MMO!

It's her birthday tomorrow, asshole.

what a douche
