Hey, remember those old PSM magazine swimsuit issues? Where they'd have artists like Ryan Kinnaird draw video game women in skimpy swimsuits. I was struck with a sudden desire to see those again, but I've had a hell of a time finding scans. The best I've been able to do has been finding some of Ryan Kinnaird's artwork from his DeviantArt page.
In fact, I've only been able to find a single scan of one of the swimsuit sections, for the 2004 issue: imgur.com/a/0M5b3
I don't suppose anyone here has scans of the other years?
And if not then I guess we can just make this a general "remember the good old days of video game magazines" thread.
Some of this stuff reminds me of the guy who draws empowered.
Luke Sanchez
Wouldn't /vp/ be better? Or just google?
Austin Mitchell
It reminds me of those "How to Draw Manga" books.
Jeremiah Hall
The old UK Nintendo Official magazine was some shit. They had a Section called Bobby Tokyo, where their "Asian reporter" would write in broken English about things such as trying to play Pokémon in real life by spray painting dogs yellow and stuffing them into pot noodle containers. The segment was eventually shut down over complaints of racism.
Leo Cook
That's because Adam Warren and Ryan Kinnaird, the two artists who worked on most of those pictures, ARE the artists who work on Empowered.
It's not porn. Also, I DID try Google. And several sites who specialize in video game magazine archives. None of them have any of the issues. I figured someone here might have physical issues.
Angel Robinson
I see. He hasn't improved a whole lot in my opinion. Although his lines are much neater.
Cameron Hill
The only recent thing I remember about any magazines was Nintendo putting the "shut it down" on an archive of their old Nintendo Power magazines Fucking kikes
Lincoln Jones
The archive can still be found on another site but I forgot the name.
Daniel Jenkins
Is it the same guy who drew this?
Dylan Williams
It says kinnaird in the picture,
Landon Murphy
Yeah, you can see his signature on the bottom left.
Carson Jones

Lincoln Adams
did that artist made any final fantasy 7 lewds?
Jace Hill
The fuck happened?
Oliver Diaz
Pre-2007 seemed cool. When I was 8 or something, there was a restaurant that had N64s in a few rooms with games like SM64. Also, furry zines were alive.
Brody Scott
He might have done a few swimsuit pics of some Final Fantasy girls for one of the issues. As far as I know that's as far as he goes with lewdness.
Colton Walker
What's a furry zine?
Ian Myers
I looked up this guys comic to see if I could find all the volumes, and I did find it so here is one of my favorite parts.
Anthony Clark
by any chance you have all his art?
Lincoln Gonzalez
Here are there DeviantArt pages. That's the best I can do you.
thanks, time to dig, I hope i can find his rare FF7 lewd comics
Connor Anderson
fuck, i found them, i knew i wasnt going crazy
Eli Morales
I have every issue from like, august 98 to early 2000, plus a few issues from 04 and 05 and I've got about 2 or 3 of those swimsuit sections but I don't even have anything to scan them with PSM was a really good magazine though, and they really loved dino crisis and kept drawing regina so that was great
Jeremiah Wood
go to a store with a scanning service
Oliver Jackson
Could you imagine the looks you would get if someone saw you scanning that?

Man, I kind of miss playstation mag, it was so fucking awesome getting those swimsuit editions with my favorite characters in sexy swimwear, just the frosting on the cake filled with funny shit they wrote about various games. I don't think I'd ever be able to go back to those days now, the internet really has spoiled me for that. Any character I want I can just look up on a number of rule 34 sites, to the point it has become mundane. Kids today wont get to know that joy of opening up their video game magazine to find those luscious ladies waiting for them to ogle, they'll just go to google and type "somegame character boobs" and have unrestricted access to enough boner fuel to get them through puberty. Sad days.
Jackson Williams
For softcore- I like Empowered.

I had, and should still have one of these, I remember it had lara croft and some other bitch suntanning while the butler, who had turned into a zombie, was bringing them drinks. Good shit.
Aaron Garcia
Nice bodies, but the shittiest faces I've seen in a while.
Jaxson Nelson
Never thought Lucia would have gotten some love like that. but I guess this was right before everyone tried to erase DMC2 from there memories.
There has never been a gun in DMC that looks that boring. Trish uses Luce and Ombra which used to belong to Sparda.
Gavin Kelly
lol those samefaces goddamn
Jack Wright
These are some of the biggest cases of butterface I've ever seen.
Cameron Edwards
How does it feel being a young homosexual?

I have the vast majority of PSM from issue 1 till about 2004 or so boxed up. Im missing the off issue here and there though. Also have issues of game players from feb 1994 to a few issues into when it became ultra gameplayers, a few years worth of diehard gamefan from july 1994 till it ended , a few 1994 issues of swatpro couple years worth of egm from the mid late 90s and issues 17, 45-145 of nintendo power plus a bunch of the snes and n64 era guides like smrpg, lttp, chrono trigger, dkc 1-3, super metroid, mario 64 etc. Ill dig them up sometime and start scanning anything interesting. Got a few of the old nintendo power club soundtracks i could rip too, m64, mk64, starfox 64. Bunch of the trading cards and pogs and shit i could scan. Probably start a thread when i do.
Aaron Gutierrez
That'd be great. There are criminally few scans of old gaming magazines, despite how many sites there are that archive that kind of stuff.
James Barnes
Fucking hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.
Xavier Carter
I fixed the first pic if anyone is interested.
Parker Martinez
Care to share any other talented western artists who draw decent pin ups while not giving a shit about SJWs?
I only know Frank Cho, Manara and Joel Jurion
David Murphy
Nice work, i thought the scan was pre PS2, but i see that girl from red Ninja, should have included the girl from Soul of the Samurai
Nolan Sanchez
luis royo and boris vallejo do great shit. Not sure about the sjw part but their work is classic.
David James
man i remember when i was a child staring at the Golden Axe 2 cover wondering if those were real people or not That man's skills are out of this world
Austin Gomez
thanks man, i also made a brighter version.
Samuel King
Damn I think I actually have some of his work on my pc
Artists from this era didn't fuck around, and it was way before you could draw on a computer
Joshua Rogers
that PSM art sucks
Michael Perry
Stephen youll and keith parkinson do some nice oil work too. Mostly for shit like books or rifts book covers.
Gavin Roberts
The two of them were looking for a style that was a compromise between western and manga, they settled on smaller eyes and DSLs on every female character. Their art style is the one time you could properly use the term "weebshit" as a proper adjective, as in it's shitty art done by actual weebs.
Cooper Perez
Boris is a great artist, it's kind of a shame they wasted his talent on replacing perfectly good cover art for a lot of games. At least he seemed to genuinely care when he did those covers.
Alexander Nelson
Boris Vallejo was the best!
Gavin Gray
man i had this issue when i was a lad, many early boners had
Charles Anderson
Isn't he still alive?
Matthew Ross
Also forgot about Frank Frazzetta
He also did some great movie posters.
Ryder Watson
(checked) And that's what makes it even more impressive. Here's another GA related art, not made by BV though,
Austin Williams
The man, the legend
Grayson Smith
Here's something that everyone will surely appreciate

Angel Parker
His cover art for GA3's western release ended up being unused, but the original is available for purchase on his site. borisjulie.com/portfolio/swords-magic/ Really amazing work.
Henry Robinson
wut?
Ryder Peterson
Yeah, as in the original painting. There are reproduction prints available for other works as well, but this one is in the 'original work' section of the site - hence the price.
