Capitalism started with providing service and quality for money and hopefully repeat business, it works great when you just sell what it is you're good at making in an honest fashion.
Pandering to the lowest common denominator is where we ended up when growth driven boards of directors started taking over everything who gave not two tugs of a dead dog's cock for the customer and product, only making their portfolio's numbers grow. If we could get rid of these faggots in the stock market and let shit return to product and quality driven capitalism it wouldn't be an issue.
Stockbrokers don't actually offer any value as they make a company doing well do better and make a company doing poorly do worse, they're an amplification of existing market trends who basically create companies like EA, Google and Amazon and allow them the capability of devouring other companies who might have given competition and driven product improvements.
Being flippant about the market because you think crony capitalism and corporatism are synonymous with actual capitalism isn't helping anyone.

Simply put dumping all that budget into a game forces it into pandering to the lowest common denominator.
A game like X-Com is not viable to have a gazillion dollar budget because it's a game made for people who want to think and take their sweet ass time autisming over every detail of their master plans, people who can think in terms of expendable losses and can overcome difficult odds.
A game like Firaxcom decides to dump the gazillion dollars into youtube/twitch shills, marketing and COOL ANIMATIONS so that they can justify making a literal mobile game that runs like utter ass and sell it for 60 bux and it's still gonna be called GOTAY because it has purdy animations, is replayable enough and has been marketed out the ass that I doubt anyone who played and liked it actually has a reason for doing so besides "it was popular and everyone said it's good".
In other words if you have a budget of a bazillion dollars then it's logical you'd want to make over a bazillion dollars to break even, so in order to make over a bazillion dollars you need to have a bazillion people buy the game. For that to happen you need to appeal to every single person the planet, and in doing so you shut out the niche groups.

Instead of money, we would hunger for power over others. Instead of family, we would yearn for seclusion from everyone so we would not have to suffer their burden. Instead of way of life, we would desire nothing but death– so at least then we can at least have a decision of our own.
