Christianity has been employed for the defense of capital and empire since Constantine, and Islam has been employed for economic & social justice against a westernized bourgeois many times in the colonial history of the Middle East.
I agree that militant atheism is bad, but suggesting that Christianity and Islam have each had a single, distinct social agenda through all time is both ahistorical and counter revolutionary. There have been many Islamic socialists and many Christian porkies, and vice versa.
